Chilaquiles full order with cochinta pibil
    Caitlyn M.

Great neighborhood breakfast/brunch/lunch spot! They have all the classics and some Mexican food. The service is also great, the staff are all very friendly and warm. That and the delicious food make me want to come back! I stopped by for a weekday lunch a little after 11am and was seated right away. You order and pay at the front register and they'll give you a number for the food for your table. It's a cozy spot so they probably have a wait during the weekends, I saw a clipboard with a waiting list outside. We got the pumpkin pancakes which were seasonal and a full order of the chilaquiles with cochinita pibil. The portions were massive! The pancakes were delicious, very fluffy and light. The chilaquiles were sooo good! Covered in sauce and still crunchy. Everything was so tasty! Definitely recommend this spot!

This was the HALF - Chilaquiles and half cochinita, it was amazing!!!

It was an amazing experience, the staff was so nice and welcoming. The food was even better, I loved the chilaquiles with cochinita and the pineapple pancakes, my partner had an omelette and she enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed my food! Overall it was such a nice experience with great food and great customer service. I'll definitely be back!

My kid and I walked by this too many times to not stop in today. Customers service was a 10/10! So at tentative and didn't even have to ask for anything. They check in and showed us what was on the table. I got half of their chilaquiles and added sour cream and avocado 9/10, wish it was cruncher My kid got their breakfasts burrito with chorizo. She loved it! It was a fatty. But omgeez their Mexican coffee!!!! Was soooooo good. My kid and I loved it. It's sweet but good.

Lucho's turned out to be one of those breakfast/brunch spots that completely exceeds expectations. We stumbled in around 10-11 a.m. on a Sunday morning and even though there was a wait of over 30 minutes (it honestly flew by as I explored the area). The setup is unique you order before being seated but given the wait time it actually works perfectly and gives you plenty of time to decide what to get. Let's talk about the star of the show: the chilaquiles. They were amazing hands down some of the best I've ever had. My group ordered them three different ways and every version was delicious. I went with the standard sauce added beans, cheese, and an over-medium egg PURE perfection. My boyfriend's version came with birria, cilantro, onion, sour cream, and beans. The portion sizes are generous (Lucho's definitely doesn't skimp). I ordered a half portion and it was just perfect leaving me full but not overstuffed. A full order could easily be shared between two people unless you're really hungry. I paired my meal with a café de olla, which was rich and the perfect complement to the meal. My boyfriend had a michelada and it was spot on flavorful, balanced, and refreshing. What really stood out beyond the food was the owner's presence. He was everywhere: greeting guests, helping with orders, serving, and checking in with tables. That kind of hands-on hospitality makes a huge difference and really adds to the warm, welcoming vibe of the place. If you're in the area, Lucho's is absolutely worth the wait. Between the incredible chilaquiles, generous portions, and genuine service this spot has earned a permanent place on my must-return list. Highly recommend!

Fantastic place for breakfast brunch or lunch in the outskirts of West Portal near 19th Ave and Ocean. We were met with friendly service and had seats right away, which is rare on weekends. Order at counter, grab a number to place on the table and get served Mexican inspired comfort food. I had a yummy Chili Rellenos and my daughter had a huge breakfast burrito which she could barely finish half at one sitting. (She ate the rest for dinner.) Small space with good ventilation, high ceiling and warm vibe.

visted luchos this sunday morning for brunch. we had previously came years ago and were excited to see if it was as good as we remembered. we put our name on the waitlist and the service was extremely friendly and helpful. we received menus and the specials menu as we waited for a table to become available. we placed our order at the counter and sat outside in the parklet since it was a nice day. we ordered the mexican coffee, house coffee, full order of chilaquiles with soyrizo, and the pineapple upside down pancakes. everything came out quickly and hot. nice touch with the insulated cups which kept our coffee hot. the food was delicious and came in large portions, perfect to share. we were informed about the 3 different hot sauces, all were tasty but our favorite was the jalapeno lime one. definitely will come by again for the great service and food!

Great food and fast service even when they're busy. Great neighborhood restaurant. Try it.

Brief Summary: - Most of the menu includes house habanero salsa - Kind and attentive staff - Wait time was around 30 minutes, depends on your waitlist timing - Indoor and outdoor seating available - Low spice tolerance, when mixed in a dish, I was able to eat the house habanero salsa without feeling overwhelmed by the spiciness (that is amazing) - Coffee was not sour Decided to eat here for brunch. Already there were a cluster of guests waiting at the door. The restaurant is small, where the kitchen takes most of the space, so there are limited amount of seats. Fortunately, there is outdoor seating, but there is still time to wait. For the young children, there are coloring books and crayons for them to draw while waiting in line, so there is a good deed of kindness for children and families. I did not view the menu until after we wrote our names into the waitlist. It was then I realized that most of the orders come with habanero peppers. How did I also not notice the little apostrophe on Lucho's is is a literal habanero (very cute). This turned out to be a feint startle, in which I'm still surprised about. One of my family members have stronger spice tolerance, so after some deciding they chose the Chilaquiles. I got the Polozé, and my other relative, who is also on the low spice tolerance, chose the 2 eggs any style dish. Yes, I took a bite of the Chilaquiles, and this was so surprising. I felt the spice, but it wasn't the intimidating painful spice that I have heard of from hot sauce stores. This was a delicate, a wonderful accent to boost the overall flavor of this dish. Wow, I was blown away, I can eat a dish with habanero pepper and I didn't drink down a whole cup of water; not even a sip. This restaurant has a cook with magic hidden in their sleeves. When I was deciding on what to order and was hesitant on ordering a dish with habanero, I was leaning between an avocado toast or the Pozolé, and I am so glad I chose the latter. I love soups, and this was absolutely delicious. First, each spoonful scoops up pieces of pork or vegetables. The broth is rich with pork and chilies, and this one wasn't spicy either. The staff were stars as well. Almost each one came by and asked how we were doing, checked for coffee seconds, and took away the eaten dishes. They were such lovely people and the food was truly amazing. This is a must-return restaurant to try other dishes. Next time, I'm more eager to try other dishes that have the house habanero salsa because now I know it's not going to be deadly spicy.

This is my new favorite restaurant! The food was incredible--the chilaquiles were the best I've ever had, and the apple pancake was amazing. I loved that the apples were incorporated into the batter instead of just being placed on top. If you like your coffee sweet and cinnamon flavored, I highly recommend the Mexican coffee. My friend and I came for brunch on a busy Sunday morning. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. You wait in line until a table opens up, order at the counter, take a number, and your food is brought to your table. We even chatted a bit with the owner, Lucho--he's so kind and welcoming!

    Breakfast Burrito

I stopped by because I was hungry and saw a lot of great reviews--especially about the breakfast burrito, which seemed to be a fan favorite among Yelpers. I went around 10 am on a Saturday, and the inside of the restaurant was already pretty busy, so I ended up sitting outside in their parklet. I ordered the breakfast burrito with cochinita pibil, which the cashier highly recommended as one of their most popular proteins. Service was great overall. The staff was friendly and attentive, and my food came out within 10-15 minutes, which was nice. As for the burrito itself... I was honestly surprised by all the hype. The flavors didn't really hit--it was pretty bland and not what I expected based on the reviews. If I do decide to return, I'll definitely be trying something else on the menu.

This place is BOMB!! I realize I'm showing my age by saying that but I don't care, it's that good. This is one of those reviews that I almost don't want to leave because I don't want it to become crazy crowded with long-ass waits, which I imagine already happens if you come particularly on the weekend. We came on a Tuesday morning and there was a steady flow of guests that only increased in the short time we were here. It's not hard to see why. They have things on the menu like peach pancakes, cochinita pibil Benedict, empanadas, spicy fried chicken sandwich, and pozole! This place speaks to me! Like sometimes I don't want a side of toast, and yes! Sometimes i would absolutely love a taco instead. Well here you can have that! It's Mexican-American cuisine done right with so much love. Kelly, one of the owners, knew every ingredient in the cochinita, the carnitas, the hot sauces (there's 3 of them, all house made!), and was serious about the hollandaise sauce. I instantly loved her. She was warm, inviting, and her food speaks for itself. She gave us the rundown on the name of the restaurant which I thought endearing and only made me fall in love with this little gem even more. I had to order the cochinita pibil Benedict because it's cochinita with hollandaise sauce!! Both are my love language and now they're together!! This is the kind of cooking that is innovative, original, and comforting. Food that makes me feel good. The pork was savory deliciousness with perfectly poached eggs, and a hollandaise sauce I wanted to swim in. She was spot on with that hollandaise sauce. I take that sauce very seriously because it can make or break that whole dish. Frankly, there's a lot of restaurants that don't take it serious enough. Too many. If you can't make a good sauce or properly poached eggs then please do us all a favor and stop serving this dish. Luchos, please don't ever stop! The hot sauces on the table were excellent as well. My favorite being the dark red one. I think it was something with chipotle. This is the type of hot sauce you'd want to put on so many things. This restaurant is small but oh so charming. There is outside seating. Be prepared to wait if you come on the weekends and if there is a wait, do us all a favor, don't camp out. Ambrosia is right up the street for that. Thank you Kelly and staff for such a wonderful experience. This is my new favorite brunch spot. Keep up the great work. Your food and your hospitality inspire me.

This is my favorite brunch place in the Ingleside Neighborhood. Lucho and Kelly (the owners) are the sweetest people ever. I love their Jamaica agua Fresca and Lucho's Omelet. It can get a bit pricey but I swear their service and quality is amazing. They know me by name since i come here often and bring my family and friends as well! It's a bit of a smaller restaurant inside with an outside patio but it can get busy and packed quickly so make sure you go a little earlier.

    Packed at 9:15am

I just moved to Ingleside from San Jose, and have been looking for local businesses to check out and support. This place is the SPOT for brunch. Open early, they were fully packed with a waitlist at 9:15 am. I knew I had found a hot-spot. I came to treat myself to a Valentine's Day breakfast before going to work for an expected crazy shift in Burlingame, and I decided to take out so I could enjoy my food at home. The restaurant is cozy with only a few tables inside, open-kitchen layout, with a register and coffee station by the front door. Right outside is a cute little parklet with some 4 tops. And they're right next door to a nail salon with a 20% grand opening discount! The owners Kelly and Lucho were there working with their crew. They took time to introduce themselves and welcome me to the neighborhood, which was a wonderful added touch to the charm of this restaurant. Food was great, cafe de olla was on point! I will be returning! Thanks Kelly, Lucho and the rest of the crew for starting my day on such a positive note!

Is the nearby parklet on Ocean Ave open to your patrons?

Hi! Yes, the parklet is for our customers.

What happened to your location in Marin?

Hi, thank you for you question. Rising food costs, labor shortage and the gas prices commuting.,, just bad timing.

Do you accept proof of vaccination with only one vaccination?

Hi! That is a very good question. As per San Francisco mandate, we need proof of full vaccination, so either 1 dose of J&j or 2 doses of of Moderna or Pziser. We do however have a lovely outdoor space, and no vaccination is required.

    Does they take reservations?

No, I am sorry, we do not.

Blueberry pancakes: they arrived looking like dark goop was dropped on them. The pancakes were overcooked, with very few blueberries. There was nothing to like about this dish. It was like eating dry bread. The side order of bacon. The bacon was horrible. It was overdone and tasted like they salted it. Who does this ?!? The chilaquiles were even worse. The chips were over done, and tasted burnt. The Rojas and verde sauce was thin, salty, and only made the burnt chips taste worse. The chicken was properly grilled, but unseasoned and pretty blah. The steak wasn't better. Why are they heavily salting their food. It was inedible. This was such a sad meal. Was I able to say anything? No. Why? Because the service is nonexistent. We did ask for napkins, and were given dirty napkins. Sadly, we won't be back. I would encourage you to try other places! The inconsistency, and the overpriced horrible food this second time, is a hard no. Feel free to compare pics.

We circled just once and may have gotten lucky. THE WAIT None, there was one other table with diners when we arrived. When we left around 7pm there were a few more tables with diners. THE COST $102.26 total including tax/tip for 2 adult entrees, 2 cocktails, 1 beer, 2 kids' entrees. THE SERVICE Good, fairly quick, one bartender who also served all the tables. You can order through the bartender or on your phone via the QR code. The Matcha-Jito wasn't great and our bartender swapped it out for a different drink for me. THE FOOD * Paper Plane ($13) - 4.5 stars. My partner thought this was really good - zesty, sweet, yet the whiskey still shined through. I dont usually like whiskey drinks and even I enjoyed this. * Matcha-Jito ($14) - 2 stars. Doesn't taste like matcha or a mojito much at all, overly strong. * Lavender Gimlet ($13) - 4 stars. Lovely, well balanced drink. * Kid's Mac & Cheese ($7) - 3 stars. Fine, quite salty. * Kid's Grilled Cheese ($6) - 3 stars. Also fine, cheese tasted like velveeta though. * Seared Ahi Tacos ($14.50) - 3 stars. Tuna had just a hint of pink. The toppings were a bit boring, could have used more variation/sauces. * Crispy Buffalo Chicken Burger ($17) - 4 stars. Chicken was very tender & moist. A little too much buffalo sauce (a bit messy to eat), bun was a little mushy but it did hold together. The fries were quite soft and plain.

What made this meal extra special were the details - rosemary scented fries, fresh mint scenting the blackberries of the lemon blackberry cake, and cocktails made with care. The space is cozy and there is table seating as well as bar seating. Service was warm, friendly and prompt. I hope to come back soon and regularly!

Their sandwiches were great last semester, but this semester, they're disappointing. It's clear they're putting in less effort when assembling them. Instead of their usual in-house ciabatta bread, they've switched to cheap supermarket white bread. The amount of meat in the sandwiches has also decreased, with very little filling. It feels like they've raised the prices without improving the overall experience.

Be it an abandoned stray kitten or the homeless child in need of dry socks. Okay, maybe I'm being overly dramatic here, but my point is I fly by the code of Sir Robin Hood;) So what does me hanging around merry men have to do with a Cafe at a College? Culinary Cafeteria can be found on the campus of City College of San Francisco. It's easy to find just head to the cafeteria and you'll find it nestled there. Don't expect a French Café or anything like that. Do expect a cafeteria - sometimes with restaurant level food - serving to students and the public alike. There's a breakfast and lunch menu (not sure on dinner). The breakfast tends to be the basics like Omelette Combo, French Toast, Waffles, Scrambled Eggs combo, Bagels, Muffins, Pastries, Fruit cups, Hot Cereal, etc. The lunch is the Entrée of the day, usually some sort of Pasta, Hamburgers, Salads, etc. Fountain drinks and Coffee beverages offered too. Dessert options are day to day. On my latest visit I ordered the Entrée of the day which was Beef Stew. I chose cooked Spinach and Garlic Mashed Potatoes as my sides. I wasn't exactly blown away by my choice, nonetheless I ate every morsel on my Melamine plate lol. I've been here at least a dozen times over the years and never had any major complaints. Besides where can you get an Omelette combo for under $7? In the end, I wouldn't go out of my way to get to Culinary Cafeteria, but if you're in the Ingleside District by all means give it a try. Don't expect fancy, do expect a decent hot meal at a bargain price! So what's up w/ my Robin Hood mantra? The Culinary Cafeteria supports the Culinary program of City College of San Francisco. I might not be robbing from the Queens, but hey I feel good helping the community. It's all about giving back...

Arrived about an hour after opening and immediately loved the interior! From the bricks to the orange cushioned bench seating to the nostalgic movies playing in the rear seating area's background, and the picnic tables on the patio, this place knows how to decorate! The sandwich, waffle fries side, salad, and cocktail totaled $60 and filled us up. Really crispy fries and awesome crispy edges to the smash burger! The salad left something to be desired despite a large portion size. I think I'll ask for dressing on the side if I order that item again. I did have to get up a couple times to close the door, but the staff caught on and paid attention to when it was ajar. The servers were friendly and checked on us three or four times but didn't try to convince us to order more, which was appreciated. Apparently Tuesdays are trivia nights 7-9 and it looks like a lively, friendly yet competitive crowd. Will definitely return one week to test my Jeopardy seasoned trivia knowledge. I would recommend this place!

Located in a rather dense part of Daly City, but with a little effort, you can find a spot to park. NOTE: There are meters on Mission Street that only take quarters! You order at the counter, then take a seat. Nice variety on the menu, both breakfast and lunch items (eggy thangs & goodness between bread). A couple of Latin items. A small choice of baked goods and a self-serve water station. Ordered "The Scrambled" w/ ham and cheddar, potatoes... no choice on toast, just straight unbuttered wheat, so you'll need to request butter if you want some. Also got a large latte which was delicious! Everything was brought to me, which was nice. Only saw one staffer up front (they weren't busy), and she was super friendly and upbeat. Can't believe I haven't been here before, but I will be back as I'd like to try the Baleada, which is egg, bean, and cheese in a tortilla... simple, but looks tasty. Also, prices were very reasonable! Go, go, GO!

You order and pay at the counter and they'll bring you your dish if you want to dine in. There is metered street parking at the front, but you can find residential parking on the side streets. The ambiance of the cafe was simple, warming and welcoming; a quiet and relaxing vibe. Service overall was great and dish came out decently fast. They cleaned up pretty quickly as well when a table was finished. I wanted something a bit light so I opted for: 1) American Omelette(6.5/10)(~$12) - A decent and light breakfast plate. The omelette was a thin egg omelette a bit of a departure from your usual diner fare. The ham wasn't diced either, it was just 1-2 deli sliced ham placed in between with your choice of cheese(provolone, cheddar or swiss). For sides, you can either get a salad or potatoes. I went with the potatoes and they were grilled really well and seasoned just right. It also came with a sliced wheat bread. It was an okay dish, but if you want something more filling, I would try something else. 2) Drip Coffee(Small)(7/10)($2.75) - Just your usual house coffee. Overall, taste was good without it being overly bitter. A adequate cup of coffee that will wake you up in the morning. Price was very reasonable as well. 3) Pupusas(5.5/10)($4.50) - I ordered a pupusa to go as I wanted to give it a try for lunch. It was an okay pupusa; I ordered the chorizo one....but couldn't really find it in the pupusa when I got home. Just refried beans. It was freshly made though since it took awhile to get it. The pupusas aren't on the menu in the cafe, but it is written on the board outside. It came with a bag of mild salsa and a bag veggies on the side. Overall, I've had better pupusas on the Mission and would skip this. A decent neighborhood spot to grab a quick bite if in the area!
