Turkey bacon, eggs, toast, hash brown

Breakfast here is good and we've been here many times over the years. Hubby has the chicken fried steak and I had the 2 eggs, Turkey bacon, hash brown and wheat toast. I asked the waitress to have the hash browns extra crispy. It didn't come extra crispy. I was disappointed.

Had a delightful breakfast brunch here a couple weeks ago. This place always delivers on flavor food. I had a wonderful croissant, French toast with berries and banana. The service is a bit slow, but they're always friendly here. My friends omelette and club sandwich also satisfying for them. This is a small place, but well lit and comfy.

Strolled over on a Sunday, though it was pretty busy, we were still about to get a table for 3 outdoors with a pup quickly. I saw chicken fried steak so I happiky got that. Portions were ok: chicken fried steak was a little smaller than I thought but tasted pretty good. Mom had chicken and waffle - same as mine, meat portions were small but the waffle was huge. Dad had salmon salad which he enjoyed. Total was about $25/person.

We did pick up. We waited 15 minutes for our food. This spot was small but cozy. Very full which is accepted for Sunday morning. The waiter was very nice who took my order. I asked for breakfast burrito with sausage on side. He said that was fine. Unfortunately got home they cut into pieces in my burrito. I had to pick out but it was still good. French toast was very good and my husband got a BTL with avocado said was delicious. Try this spot when you are in west portal. Will definitely go back

This brunch place has been in the West Portal neighborhood for at least 20+ years. I walked by here often but I have only eaten here twice. Both times not too impressed by the food. The coffee, omelette and hash brown are very good. But everything needed salt and pepper. I am not happy with my Eggs Florentine, they assemble it with raw spinach and by the time it gets to my table, the spinach is wilted and not appetizing.

Ate late lunch today about 2 pm. Parking is street meters max of 2 hours. Cafe not crowded at 2 pm so we got seated immediately. Service was excellent for one waitress. Bagel with smoked salmon was very good, bagel was lightly toasted. Chicken steak was good, crisp, not a slice of beef but ground meat. Hash brown nicely brown and crisp. Eggs were good scrambled or any style. Choice of toast was wheat and toasted. Ambiance within restaurant was clean and bright. Very good place for breakfast. At this writing, 5 stars out of 5.

Honestly very mid. The food was alright nothing special. The breakfast burrito was tasty but what made it not great was the service. The staff was rude and not very friendly. It was just average, nothing that blew my taste buds away.

Made me a delicious almond milk cappuccino and fabulous avocado toast with arugula, squeeze of lemon juice, loads of avocado on toasted hearty multigrain toast! So yum!! They also have tofu scrambles if you are vegan!

You know, back when restaurants first started to reopen after those initial COVID shutdowns, outdoor seating was pretty much criteria #1 and #1A whenever my friends would try to meet up to eat. The food itself mattered, of course, but the outdoor dining situation was far more important to us than how good the food would be. Which, if I'm being honest, was probably what attracted us most to Toast. With so many tables available, and West Portal's overall accessibility, it felt like such an convenient and easy place for us to meet up! While I can't say for sure how busy Toast would get prior to COVID, it definitely became one of the more popular destinations in West Portal thanks to their parklet (it feels a lot bigger than most). Although, considering this was their third location in the city (the one on Polk has since shuttered), perhaps they've always been popular and I'm just late to the game. As a whole, the menu is pretty much what you'd expect from an American brunch cafe - breakfast plates (scrambles, omelettes, pancakes, waffles, French toast, benedicts, etc.), soups, salads, burgers, and sandwiches. Individually, nothing really jumped off the page as being super unique, but collectively, it's a nice mix of classic staples to choose from. -- HOUSE MADE CORNED BEEF HASH - Fresh Corned Beef Hash, Two Eggs Any Style, Hash Browns, and Choice of Bread (English Muffin)...$18.50 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/toast-eatery-san-francisco-11?select=3fy0PDvF1SPIVFijBIb05w) Very, very...okay. The dish as a whole was decently tasty, the portion was larger than expected, and the hash had a good ratio of meat to potatoes. That said, I wish the corned beef was served in chunks instead of shredded (it was kind of dry) and the hash browns needed seasoning. -- TRIPLE DECKER CLUB - Turkey, Ham, Bacon, Cheddar, Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Mayonnaise on Choice of Bread (Sourdough)...$16.95 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/toast-eatery-san-francisco-11?select=gHc-HsrUWS7KU0ZtiD6fJw) For something as "basic" as a club sandwich, this was actually pretty solid. All three meats were cut thicker than I expected and I love that they have sourdough as a bread option (works so much better than white). The fries were nice and crispy as well, though I wish there had been more. Even though both dishes were satisfying enough, one aspect where they fell a bit short for me was in their overall value. While I try to avoid labeling places/dishes as "overpriced" (I assume they charge what they have to charge), what I will say about these two is that nothing about them makes me think it would be difficult to find something comparable (or better) for the same (or less) elsewhere. As for service, I agree with the uneven sentiments that others have expressed. One time, everything was perfectly fine. The other, one of the workers seemed really irritated from the start and got annoyed when we stopped him from trying to take away our friend's unfinished plate. Still, despite my mixed feelings about their service, I imagine there'll be more than a few occasions in the future where I'll find myself back at Toast. I may not have been overly impressed by any particular aspect of my experiences, but it's not like anything about them was problematic either. Plus, they have so many other benefits to offer - a wealth of outdoor seating, plentiful amounts of metered and non-metered parking nearby, and the lack of a wait for a table (the times I've been here, at least). I'd also by lying if I said I wasn't curious about a couple of their other dishes, albeit with much more tempered expectations. THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down.

Just stopped by this place in west portal for som brunch with my fam. A huge plus here is they are pet friendly! I was able to bring my pup and sit outside, and there were 3 other groups who also had dogs with them. Sitting outside with the sun was very enjoyable! In terms of service, I had read some review prior so we made sure to be ready to order soon after being sat, and I am glad we did! Our waiter came to us once to take our order, to deliver our waters, and that was it until we asked for the bill. For the food, I ordered the croissant french toast, and I guess I was just a little surprised at how thin the french toast was, with it being not even .5 inch of a thickness. I think I will try other brunch places before coming back here.

Had take away coffee. The flavors peaked our interest. My black coffee drinker fell in love with the churro latte. It was a bit awkward because we didn't know where to stand but the table by the door didn't have anyone seated there.. so we just hovered around that.

We started off with the beet salad and warm focaccia with olive oil, garlic, and balsamic vinegar. The combination of hot bread with sweet, cool beets was a perfect contrast. The beets were perfectly cooked and came with crunchy, candied pecans over a light bed of whipped ricotta. I could not get enough, especially of the candied pecans. The focaccia was perfectly cooked and super light and fluffy. You can tell that the olive oil and balsamic vinegar are of the highest quality and the dip paired so well with the bread. For our mains, my husband got the rigatoni while I got the gnocchi carbonara (at the waiter's suggestion). Both of us were extremely happy with our choices. I'm used to getting gnocchi dishes that are super dense and doughy but in this dish, it was melting in your mouth. The infusion of the duck flavors really came through in the sauce and you had crispy meat sprinkled on top as well to give a contrasting texture to the rest of the dish. The rigatoni came with a couple of meatballs and sausages that you can tell are freshly made in house as they were tender and flavorful. The marinara sauce had a hint of sweetness with the tartness of the tomato sauce to balance it out. The pasta might have been a hair undercooked but it didn't make the dish any less delicious. For dessert, we ended with a chocolate tiramisu - a bed of moist, chocolate cake with a layer of coffee cream and cream on top, it was a delicious twist on the classic dish. We both agreed that we can't wait for our next visit back to Ofena!

For those of us who only eat outdoors, there are a few tables outside the bar that are pretty comfortable although it can get windy. From the minute we arrived, we were greeted with friendliness, all of the menus we might need, and an explanation of drinks, beer and wine. We chose to go all out and got a small pizza, their delicious onion dip, meatballs - more on that later - and buffalo wings. I was a bit disappointed that the happy hour wine was a Chardonnay and not the Ferentino that they let me taste, but the replacement house May logger was delicious. My husband had a steam beer, which was also very good. Throughout the service was impeccable, and we actually met the manager, Jon, who had a long conversation with us about the history of the bar and how they were trying to be a neighborhood comfortable place which they certainly have succeeded at. Now for the food - the meatballs were the best I have ever had in San Francisco and I am Italian from New York so that's saying something. We actually let Jon know who told the chef and it turns out the chef is from New Jersey so that makes a lot of sense. The onion dip is something like I've never had before. It's a crème fraîche with scallions I think? And maybe a bit of garlic and housemaid chips. We ate every single bite and actually dipped our pizza crust in the rest of the dip. The margarita pizza was also very good and as I finished it off for lunch today, I can tell you it's just as good the next day. The buffalo wings were what I would call actual buffalo style - I could taste the butter, hot sauce and garlic powder like back in the day on the East Coast. The chicken itself was good, not fatty, and the sauce was just like I want it. They offered ranch and blue cheese dip, which was great. We then had further conversations with almost all the staff who were so welcoming and friendly. We don't live super nearby, but I know we're going to go back to dinner, because I am dying to get their pork chop that looked really good. They also came and helped us put the stuff in boxes and explained the best way to take pizza home, which I never knew before. I can't wait to go back again

The burger was manageable. Although the sauces came on the side, the fries were cooked well. As we were eating, a line started to form. But instead of acknowledging them, a guy came out from the back with his hoodie on and focused on packing to-go orders. When he was done, we greeted them at the cashier. He did not look happy at all. It was a good try and it was my fiancee's fave spot once upon a time, but i don't understand what's so good about this place.

The bar was cozy and felt like all the best aspects of bars I'd come to love in my younger days. The service was quick and friendly. I'll definitely be coming back for food next time, I'm looking forward to it.

Arrived about an hour after opening and immediately loved the interior! From the bricks to the orange cushioned bench seating to the nostalgic movies playing in the rear seating area's background, and the picnic tables on the patio, this place knows how to decorate! The sandwich, waffle fries side, salad, and cocktail totaled $60 and filled us up. Really crispy fries and awesome crispy edges to the smash burger! The salad left something to be desired despite a large portion size. I think I'll ask for dressing on the side if I order that item again. I did have to get up a couple times to close the door, but the staff caught on and paid attention to when it was ajar. The servers were friendly and checked on us three or four times but didn't try to convince us to order more, which was appreciated. Apparently Tuesdays are trivia nights 7-9 and it looks like a lively, friendly yet competitive crowd. Will definitely return one week to test my Jeopardy seasoned trivia knowledge. I would recommend this place!
