Enjoyed an afternoon lunch here and was so excited to check off one of my bookmarks. We opted for the outdoor seating since it was nice and sunny that day, and who doesn't love people/dog watching?! since it was my first time here, i wanted to try as much food as i could by ordering a bunch of tapas and have myself a girl dinner spread. Beef Tartar (4/5) Raw beef, capers, cornichons, shallots, whole grains mustard, raw quail egg. it was pleasantly rich and paired wonderful on the bruschetta with the chicken liver mousse! Chicken Liver Mousse (4/5) drizzled with balsamic sauce and served with baguette, stone ground mustard, pickled red onions, and dill pickles. the pate itself was okay, it was very irony on its own, but as you build your little toasts with more toppings, it all comes together very well. Escargot (5/5) sooooo rich with buttery garlicy goodness topped with a breadcrumb and parmesan crust. this dish brings me back to Paris eating at an outdoor bistro. this goes wonderful on the chicken liver mousse bruschetta P.E.I Mussel Mariniere (5/5) White Wine, Shallots, Garlic, and Celery. This is a whole meal in itself! full of juicy mussels and plenty of that delicious white wine sauce on the bottom. i lowkey wanted to slurp the entire thing but that would be unsightly :) Service was very good. our server recommended a great bottle of white wine to enjoy with our food and he was happy to refill the pickled red onions and mustard upon request. since it was a Thursday afternoon, it wasn't as packed as the dinner crowd but i believe they have music on some weekends! great for date nights and small groups. take a walk on the great highway (sunset dunes) after your meal to end a great day!

Food portions are well sized and they have great taste. Service was great and we had few people going around us and checking on all. I lowed the wine rack that was embedded in the whole around big dinning table. All in all worth coming back for more relaxed time.

Loved the bone marrow and mussels, the burger was especially great as well Will definitely return another time

This place is excellent and far exceeded my expectations for a French restaurant in outer sunset area! It is located near the L, so easy enough to travel to and from for those not located in the area. Lots of street parking too. This place was packed for a cold Saturday night with a large party accommodated in the "upper" dining room (just a few steps). So that's good to know for the future. Their service is excellent. The server walked us through their specials and helped to pair wine with our meals. That night they had a beef cheek pasta dish and Bouillabaisse which was paired with one of the BEST red wines I've ever had. It was a Syrah. So delicious. A++ for a date night restaurant.

The most perfect weather for dining outside by the beach. Paris in the D4. Amazing food and charming hosting by Alex the manager Chilled rose'paired with the chicken liver mousse was wonderful. The star of the meal was definitely the mussels with frites. So much flavor! JYW highly recommends

This place is so cozy and quirky, I loved the details of the restaurant and the hospitality was great. We ordered a good variety of food and they had specials when we came in and they were so good. My favorite was our seafood medley with puff pastry, the sauce and seafood soaked in well and the steak and fries with the green peppercorn sauce was savory and balanced. Service in the restaurant really gave a family vibe and they were so knowledgeable about food and wine. Everyone we interacted with genuinely had such a positive energy and looked like they loved being there and it was refreshing to see. Definitely an underrated spot!

We stopped into Galinette one evening for a glass of wine, some beer, and a bit of dessert. What a great spot! Very European experience; staff was busy and the place was bustling when we arrived. Service was slow until it wasn't and the staff was able to get us into an outside table after 10 - 15 minutes. The only dish we got, pot de creme, was delightful. Would happily come back! The meals coming out of the kitchen looked absolutely fantastic.

Great little place...loved the outdoor seating with the pup

When I try new places I tend to order something like Onion Soup to compare and get a sense of the menu This Onion Soup here was one-of-the-best I have ever had. We decided to go with the roasted chicken and it did not disapoint. So good, we ordered as take out! We were warmly greeted and enjoyed the help in choosing a wine and then dessert. We sat outside and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the intersection. When we visit next, we will come back and enjoy!

We went here after a nice day at the beach. I've waited a week to post this review so I've had time to calm down and edit my emotions out of it. The food was ok but the service was terrible. We got seated fairly quickly around 7, no reservations but they weren't full. Our experience started off badly right from here as when the owner/manager? placed our utensils down I immediately picked up my spoon and handed it back since there was a substantial quantity of green stringy vegetables still stuck to the back of the spoon. The owner did not seem apologetic about this, but more annoyed he had to go replace my spoon, not apologizing for giving me an unsanitary utensil. Strike 1. While our order was taken fairly quickly, it was quite a while before any food came out. And I mean any food and quite a while. We were offered the bread and butter, they do charge for it here and don't tell you but we anticipated that, but ended up having to ask about it's status twice after at least a 20 min wait. We got the French Onion to share, and it was quite good. We finished it pretty fast, but apparently not fast enough. Most restaurants will fire your entrees while you eat your appetizer, not here. We finished our soup and bread and waited an additional 30 minutes for our entrees. The table next to us sat down after us and received their entrees about 10 min before we did. When I asked about this because we had ordered similar food, the owner just said it was because we'd ordered the appetizer. They weren't swamped, but they were busy. Still, no servers came to explain the delay in our food. Of note, we observed a table further down from us who had also been seated after us also receive their food before us but not begin eating and seemed upset. About 10 minutes later the owner brought them their missing appetizer and then they began to eat. So definitely not an isolated case. Strike 2. When our entrees finally came we were starving. It started off good, I really liked my steak and fries and my wife initially liked her salmon. But when she got to the middle of the salmon we found it very undercooked. When I called the owner over he barely let us get a word out and just said they always cook their salmon to medium rare. He did immediately ask if we'd like it cooked a bit more and my wife said yes. I'm not sure if this is true or the owner was just making it up. Fish isn't normally one of the dishes I'd expect cooked medium rare, even if the fish is sashimi grade. It's usually noted on the menu if it is. When we got it back it was more cooked, but still not cooked all the way through. We didn't end up finishing the salmon. Strike 3. We were pretty sour by this point, but wanted to end on a better note so we gave them a chance on dessert. So we got the seasonal fruit crumble. It was fresh strawberry ice cream with cookie crumble (like you'd get on a pie), which was actually pretty good. Overall I'm very disappointed and unsure if I'd give this place another try. If the food and service had been better then this would be a solid 4 star place. As it was, bluntly I've had better experiences at chain restaurants for significantly less money (total bill before tax+tip was over $100 for just the 2 of us). So for that price I'm expecting much better service and food quality.

We decided to try Galinette as we've seen it on Yelp for a while and wondered if it was good, we parked on the street since there's no parking nearby. We came in to a pretty empty restaurant with some people on the other side of it. We got the escargot, chicken and a burger and beef tartare, and the escargot was average. Not much flavor but wasn't too bad to be honest. The reason why I gave it a 3 was the service, it wasn't bad but it was very uninviting, the people who was helping us didn't seem enthusiastic to have served us and kept a very straight and monotone voice was talking to us. half way through it felt like they wanted us to leave. Overall this was a decent place. For the food: the chicken was huge! though it was very standard and pretty dry in certain parts, the burger was much better in my opinion and actually worth getting maybe with some fries but they are 7$. The beef taretare was delicious and we devoured it.

I loved this spot! It's nestled in the outer sunset area just a 5 min walk from ocean beach down the street. The staff were lovely and so helpful, I asked them for recommendations and the chicken liver mousse was perfect! When I went, I only had an Aperol spritz and the mousse but would definitely come again to try more of their menu along with their wines. It's the perfect French bistro vibes in a coastal town. Would highly recommend!

A cute, casual neighborhood French bistro! I came with two friends to chit chat and catch up over dinner, and it was surprisingly packed on a weekday. Our waiter was very friendly, and I liked that he never rushed us. We shared the escargot with puff pastry and cream of mushroom, which almost disguised the snails. For my entree, I had the P.E.I Mussels Marinière. Such a big bowl was only $21, and the broth was delicious with the white wine and garlic. I'd come back and try their French onion soup and Bourride dishes!

This is the type of casual French cafe you'd expect to see in a quaint village in Bordeaux except I saw a rather pricy Loco Moco on their menu. The presence of this Hawaiian staple gave me momentary pause and reminded me I was in the Outer Sunset. It's been around for over a year, but I noticed it only recently when I took the L MUNI line to 66th and Taraval. There was a very welcoming vibe here with big windows, terrace seating, and a split-level dining room with a communal table in the higher space. I decided to have lunch before embarking on my Sunset Dunes walk. I started with the $4 Arnold Palmer which provided me with the right level of refreshment on an unusually balmy day (Photo 8). I ordered the $13 French Onion Soup, and it didn't disappoint. The country crock arrived with the melted Gruyere cheese still bubbling on top. The baguette was floating helplessly underneath the cheese layer, and the beef broth was full of onions and all the other ingredients that make it a classic (Photo 10). The $16 Lyonnaise Frisée, however, fell short due to the overpowering flavor of the vinaigrette which contained too much red wine vinegar for my taste. I can't lay blame on the frisée, bacon bits, or the poached eggs, all present and accounted for (Photo 9). That left me with a split decision on the food, but I had no complaints about the attentive service. The menu overall is a bit too uniquely appetizing to ignore for too long, so another visit is likely. I think the Steak Frites might be worth trying. Not sure about the Loco Moco. FOOD - 3 stars...a solid French onion soup but a disappointing frisée salade AMBIANCE - 4 stars...vibrant French country SERVICE - 4 stars...friendly and attentive TOTAL - 3 stars...a bit of France, mais oui? Now it's sixteen years later. After an early start to a Sunday Valkyries game, my friend brought us here for a post game dinner. After finding a parking space a block away, we walked up a little after 6:30 pm. When I reached the entrance, I noticed the sketch board and wrote my name below the names and guest numbers already there. When I asked the hostess, she told me it was likely a twenty to thirty minute wait. The dining room was packed as well as the sidewalk tables and outdoor dining structure. Being hungry and antsy, I walked the various tables to observe the service progression to estimate when we'd be seated. About 35 minutes later, we were seated at the sidewalk table next to the entrance and given menus. It's been a while so a menu study was needed. After some discussion, we decided on our meals and agreed to share bites of each other's food. First came the Acme French baguette and butter (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=b_xeRM764lejQiCnELp7OA), a necessary vehicle to sop any gravy or sauce. The sauce or broth is the key especially with the baguette slices to enjoy the delicious flavors. For my main meal, i had the pork chop (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=tk0gypyufB2AL0olq-KPHA), Brussels sprouts, bacon, apple cider mustard sauce, suggested and cooked medium; I really enjoyed this as it had a nice outside sear while the meat was tender and still juicy after I cut in. The flavors from the accompaniments paired well and the portions were generous. In fact, a fellow diner mostly ate the accompaniments as our shared format in trying the other dishes filled my tummy. I tried a few bites of my friend's roasted duck confit, French fries (subbed from potatoes gratin), haricot vert, port reduction; sorry, no photo as this disappeared relatively quickly; the duck was tender and fork tender with a smoky flavor as it came right off the bone. I also tried another diner's fettucine, creamy white wine sauce, mushrooms (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=X5em6PctUtXUbiuM7uLmPg); the balance of sauce to pasta was perfect and you know me and mushrooms. It was tasty and is definitely hearty, portions and taste wise. As we dined, more diners added their names to the wait list until there were only two names left when we left around 8:30 pm. The guests were a mix of neighborhood locals and sports fans who came from events since Chase Center and Oracle Park are nearby. I saw a table with guys wearing Giants and Braves jerseys. Thanks to J. Garen who waited on our table and the bus staff who cleared empty plates and bowls and refilled out water glasses. Big thanks for Naomi, the hostess, who kept all waiting guests updated and kept a watchful eye to make sure the tables turn efficiently. As we left, we greeted waiting guests in Valkyries jerseys and we briefly talked about the game and, of course, gave our "Go Valks" cheer. Looking forward to our next meal here.

We have tried all sorts of dishes and our selections rarely miss the mark. The choose-your-own adventure style of the menu is perfect for couples who like to sample multiple things. Favorites include the glazed oysters, branzini fish, filet of beef. Absolutely must try the chocolate soufflé. I am partial to the cheese cart but could skip this if you're not super hungry as the timing of this is right before the rest of desserts come, and you will definitely need to leave some room. The take-home treat for the morning is such a special and appreciated touch. This SF institution is one of the greats.

My favorite thing about this restaurant is how they do their tasting menu. 1) not everyone in your party has to order the same amount of dishes. They will time the dishes as best as they can so no one is sitting there awkwardly without food in front of them. 2) there's no real structure to the tasting menu. You can order all main courses or all desserts, it's up to you! I usually do 1 started, 1 seafood, and 1 meat dish and I'm stuffed. We usually have one person order one more course so we can all share a dessert. But if you don't have a strong sweet tooth, they do give small complementary dessert bites at the end. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and plated beautifully! The staff was attentive and the vibe of the restaurant felt elegant without trying too hard.

LOVED Cote Ouest Bistro!!!…read more I can sum it up in ONE SENTENCE: EVERYONE (from customers to staff) was happy to be here! The place was full of people happy to be eating in a bistro that feels welcoming and comfortable...especially with a nice outdoor patio set up with music at the perfect volume to enjoy good food and good conversation... ...and the staff seemed happy as well, as if they were inviting you into their home. It really was as if friends were pouring you wine and serving you food straight from the heart. SPEAKING OF FOOD... just fantastic French fare! Everything you love, from Onion Soup to Duck Confit can be found on the menu. I went for the Serrano Ham, Oeufs Mayonnaise, and the Steak Frites and devoured every bite between sips of Rosé. I try to eat low carb but couldn't resist their (free) bread service... which I complimented, and got the following reaction, "Want more?" It was an offer I couldn't refuse! Ended the meal in the perfect way with Creme Brûlée then walked off into the night with my wallet none too worse for wear. Vive le Cote Ouest Bistro!!!

The lady servicing water kept coming to do refills - without me asking - that's incredible service for a small place with limited staff. The duck confit exceeded my expectations. I loved the bread and butter. The Salmon was rare and very tasty . The cauliflower was well flavored and mixed very well with the other ingredients. We didn't have enough room for dessert - I will come back to try the French onion soup and mussels in white wine.

The French cuisine is still featured, but there is a new sign and awning for TD. As well as the delicious new food! I have lived on the 500 block for 16 years and this is an amazing add to the neighborhood. We've never had our own authentic taqueria this close. And I can tell you that the tortillas here are LEGIT. On to the experience. The staff is awesome, you will be well attended here. You can order at the register, but there is full wait service. The interior retains the French look, and has added some Mexican touches. There is a parklet outside. In the dining room, there are large open windows with bar seating. A true indoor / outdoor spot. On to the food. I got the Al Pastor tacos, which are traditional street style, though they were nice enough to add cheese to the tortillas. Red and green salsa on the side, and I'm told they're looking into a spicy sauce as well. Open on Friday and Saturday until Midnight. Check www.divistaqueria.com for their weekly hours and menu. Directly across the street from both Emporium and Independent on Divis. And a delicious lunch if you're in NOPA. Place will blow up and couldn't happen to better people. The server sat us down and gave us menus right away with ice waters. The interior was nice and cozy with French music and decor. We shared both the Boeuf Bourguignon and the Champagnarde Galette and both were wonderful. The presentation on both were elegant and appetizing. The flavors and textured worked well in both dishes and the portions were satisfying. My boyfriend also ordered a glass of wine he enjoyed. I would love to come back and try their different dishes as I had a hard time decided since everything sounded so delicious! Great dinner spot, felt like a mini getaway.
