Wait what? I haven't reviewed Tala Wine yet?…read more This is by far one of my favorite places. I feel fully comfortable walking in by myself and having a seat. The owner, Tala, and her assistant Adela, are always very welcoming and make you feel like you're going to a friend's house to have a nice glass of wine. Her selection is amazing and I love her wide selection of European wines. I've been coming here for a few years now and I've never had a bad glass or a bottle of wine. She has such a wide variety. Her pop-ups are always great and she has wines to pair with the food, if you would like. There is always something going on there whether celebrating the birthday month with a DJ, live classical quartets, BINGO, Sunday Suppers, and so much more. Her high teas are AMAZING- highly recommend that when they come up. I closed the place out for my special 70th birthday party this year and everything always perfect- everyone had a fantastic time. The price was reasonable and she was so fun and accommodating. We had a blast! Go there TONIGHT!

Walked in and found the place very nice. You have your bar in front and a combination of chairs and tables throughout the room, with some very nice artwork, atmosphere, and the bathroom tiles were delightful, felt very rustic and modern. There was only 1 worker that day as it was an early weekend, but the service was fast, she was attentive to the patrons that was there and also helped us with only ordering red as we both did not have an interest in drinking white wine. The Charcuterie board options were good, and we got the meat, cheese, and olives (sorry, I forgot which exact ones). It was a great pairing to go with the wine, and I'll definitely be back to try more of their appetizers. If you're a local in the area and want a place to de-stress with a glass of wine, this is your place!

This wine bar is hidden from plain view and tucked away in the Excelsior/Outer Mission. Some friends and I discovered this little gem while looking for a place to have a nightcap. Sippin' Wine Bar is located on the second floor of the Bottoms Up Bar, but the vibe is totally different. Not sure if the two bars are actually affiliated, but they are like night and day. The stairs leading up to the bar are lit up and the interior of the bar is just absolutely gorgeous! It's spacious and low lit with an extremely sexy ambience. The decor is just out of this world! They have the cutest tables and sofas. The lamps and artwork are very unique but visually appealing, and the tables are set with candles that create a very sensual vibe. There's a small but adorable little patio where you can relax and get some air. The interior designer deserves a pat on the back AND a few glasses of wine (wink wink). Speaking of wine, they have tons and tons of it! Their selection is extensive and they make it really obvious with all of their lovely wine bottles that are on display. I really enjoyed their Angeline Pinot Noir as well as the Kungfu Girl Riesling. They serve food here as well. We had just come from dinner, but a few of us who shall remain nameless (cough cough) were still hangry and ordered garlic noodles, garlic fries, and tater tots. Yep, somebody's breath was stankin' but it wasn't mine! Although I didn't try any of the food, It smelled wonderful. There was no food left behind, so I'm assuming that it was delicious! The owner Shirley was fantastic! She happily hosted our group and let us sample several different wines from her collection. She mingled with us as well and talked about the business. The bar is still relatively new and opened a little over 2 years ago, so she is still trying to generate more business. I'm hoping that more people will frequent this place because I really enjoyed it and would love to see it stick around. So glad we stumbled upon this spot, and I'm looking forward to many more future visits.

I typically love dry white wines and was really pleased to see they had multiple Assyrtiko wines to try. Food was amazing as well! Highly recommend their Zucchini Fritters, and Grilled Octopus as well! But my standout favorite has to be the Calabrese Pinsa! The staff was so nice too! I stayed for MANY hours hanging out with my girlfriends. We arrived at 6:30pm and stayed until closing and the staff did not rush us out even though they were already closed and cleaning up.

For food we ordered: Spreads Platter: Three kinds of dips - Tzatziki, Taramosalata (fish roe), Melizanosalata (eggplant) Spanakopita: comes with 4 triangles Grilled Octopus: Delicious with garlic lemon EVOO dressing Lamb Riblets: Our favorite!! Pro Tip - order a pitcher of beer if you are not alone - it is a good deal.

We went on a Friday night, where they had a very loud band playing in the middle of the restaurant. It seemed the only people enjoying the music were the band members themselves. I mean that with no disrespect, there were the people located next to the band that were covering their ears, outwardly! There were people sitting outside, and as they came inside to leave, I jokingly said they must be from up north, as the outside temperature was 55 degrees with a light drizzle. They stated the only reason they ate outside was because they couldn't hear anything due to the band. It's an extremely loud band and a closed space so the music really echo. Unfortunately there is minimal weight staff. I believe that they spent the money on more servers rather than a band, it would be the best business move. Our server came to get our drink and food order, and then didn't come back until it was time to drop off the check. We had a runner come deliver our food, and they forgot the side salad. But by the time our waitress came, we were ready to leave, so we just asked them to take it off the bill. My mom's patty melt was OK, the meat was very thin compared to the slice of bread. My Long Island with also not great. It tasted like a well drink. I would've given 5 stars if the waitress was able to check in on us after we got our food, if the patty melt had better proportions, and my cocktail tasted a little more flavorful.,

Charging the $10 event fee on discretion before the posted event start time seems... shady? illegal? My two friends got in a few minutes before with no cover. You get perks as a thank-you for doing your part in making the City a cleaner place. We had just had a lovely time at another participating business (Beehive) and planned on Arcana being our final stop. Thankfully I was able to use the restroom without a fee, with my gear held up outside by the security team. While waiting in the restroom line, I told a staff member about all this, and the worker seemingly went up to the front to find out what's going on. The line took a few minutes, my friends also bumped into me, and I told them I'd likely wait for them outside the business post-restroom while they finished their wine. Already reported to the Mayor's Office. Maybe I'll add BBB. Should be honest and equitable! Four out of 200+ reviews by me have been one star, so I rarely share negativity. I warned a group of four about all this while I waited out front, and after talking to the front door folks, they left and thanked me for the advice. Please be careful if you visit here. . . .

We stopped in over Labor Day weekend and I was actually surprised by how quiet it was, which made it a nice place to sit and enjoy a glass without feeling crowded or rushed. Where they lost me was the wine pricing. The by-the-glass prices are pretty steep, with most around $16-$20 and Champagne at $25. I'm completely fine paying more at a wine bar for the atmosphere, service, and experience, but knowing what some of these bottles actually retail for, the markup felt excessive for what was being poured. They do offer a full food menu and some of it sounds interesting, but I wasn't impressed enough with the wine experience or value to want to stay and try the food, so I can't speak to that. I'm glad I finally checked Frenchie out after seeing it online so much. It's a cute space and I can see the appeal, but for me the value just isn't there at these prices
