White Cap is a popular Sunset cocktail spot that I've tried to check out several times before my recent visit. Sadly, parking in this area is extremely difficult. Good news is Muni's T line passes by right outside and makes it convenient, easy, and safe to take public transportation (a better choice when having cocktails anyway). There was only one other party inside when we arrived on a Friday afternoon. The bartender was friendly, handed us menus and let us know to order at the bar when ready. I tried the Hollaback Girl and the White Cap Martini. I would order both again. I really enjoyed White Cap and looking forward to my next visit. read more

My sister and I have been looking for a chill and laid back bar to wind down at and White Cap is the perfect place to cap off your night. I ordered their Oaxaca Flame and this is one of the best cocktails in the city right now. It has the right amount of booze with a kick from the arbol chile. I also really liked their old fashioned and their play on an espresso martini. The staff is really nice here and the ambiance is very chill. I would definitely recommend this bar for a date night or time to catch up with friends. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to discover this bar in my neighborhood quite close to Ocean Beach. The atmosphere is quite laid back but not super casual. I got 2 or 3 drinks here, and the alc in each was deceptively masked by fruity infusions. I recommend this bar if you're looking for a cozy, inviting spot in the Sunset to settle in for some vibrant, seasonal cocktails. read more

Ordered their negroni - matched up against any other IMO - because it was Negroni Week (i.e., Sept 22-28). The place is welcoming with friendly bartenders/mixologists who helped create the menu (i.e., not hired cocktail consultant to do so). The front setup is like a typical bar but further in there are sofas and comfortable seats, with a fireplace! If you cannot get to the cocktail bars downtown this spot is a very good substitute. There are other bars in the area but this should be the first choice. read more

This is THE place to get cocktails in the outer sunset. Chill vibes and love that the cocktail menu rotates. Dog friendly. Doesn't serve food but I think you can bring your own. Love that they also have great mocktail options. I have yet to have a bad drink from here. read more

Really love this spot! The inside is cute, the fireplace is cozy and the bar tenders are really nice. They remade my drink after I mentioned I didn't like it, made good recommendations, and were accommodating. It's never super crowded in there either, which is great. Their crab chips are bomb (when they have them) and their cocktails are good! I'm not the biggest fan of their fall menu but the classics are good to order. We always comeback to this place ! read more

Came here after reading about this bar and its cozy fireplace. We ended up coming on a warm afternoon, so we actually opted to sit outside in the parklet. On a Saturday afternoon the inside had a low key and casual, yet still classy vibe, while the outside was very casual. Their menu had a handful of specialty cocktails, some highballs, and some liquor centric classics. They also had a huge liquor selection. I opted for a specialty cocktail - the MOMA, and my boyfriend a classic - the maple hammer. We both really liked the flavor of our drinks and their presentation. Also enjoyed watching them be made. The service here was really great! Unfortunately I didn't get our bartender's name, but shoutout to him because after my bf spilled much of my drink he was happy to replace it for us! Definitely want to come back here on a cool evening to hangout by the fireplace! read more

Came on a Sunday evening for some drinks and it was very cute inside. We sat by the fireplace, there was only one other group there when we got there. The bartender was super attentive and brought our drinks to us. The drinks were fun/funky and delicious! read more

First time back at a bar in the sunset. I ordered the Maple Hammer and it was too sweet for me. I had to order some coke to drink it down. Tastes like pure honey! I think next time I'll stick to beers. Ambiance was nice. Younger working crowd on a Friday after work. Saw some older folks at the bar as well. read more

This nonchalant neighborhood bar is zee best! With their seasonal rotation of their menus, you'll never get bored. It doesn't get too busy given the location so absolutely perfect for a chillaxin' day to boost up. Nice staff and most of all, delicious and beautiful drinks! This is one of my favorite bars in SF. I love the drinks and ambience here. They have a menu that changes periodically and their current one is themed around SF and its history. The drinks are tasty and inventive and the interior looks upscale but the vibe remains casual and relaxed. For those who love cozy fireplaces, they have a nice fireplace! If you watch sports, they do put the game on the tv. I highly recommend this bar to anyone in or visiting SF. read more

30 plus year OB native, Big Rob here. Was chillin feeding my 10 day old son on the rocks outside White Cap around 4:20 today. Red haired female bar tender comes outside to set up chairs and tell us we gotta move so they can start serving drinks on the street area at 4:30. What's better for the neighborhood? Being able to sit for 30 min and feed your baby without being shuffled around. Or people drinking on the street. Where's my OB locals at let's get this place cleaned or moved out. The disrespect is real. Also, the Musubi next door sucks, worse than any Hawaiian gas station and charges 6 bucks. read more

While looking for parking around White Cap, dude in a benzo created his own parking space...just to get a drank here. Hey, IF Mr. Jack Daniels is callin', you gotta do what you gotta do! Those who live in the city know the struggles of having to follow behind the street sweeper truck just to get a parking space. I've seen someone put out a stationary bike just to "reserve" a parking spot. Obvs not a Peloton because that would have been gone in 60 seconds! Anyhow, Hotline brought me to White Cap. Since I was making the trek to Parkside, I figure I hit up two locally owned spots - HH at White Cap and Hotline for dinner. White Cap is a trendy hipster bar serving craft cocktails. They have indoor and outdoor seating on the terrace. Dog-friendly inside and outside. M E N U Cocktails ($14), Beers ($5-$8), and Wine by the Glass ($13-$16). No food served but they're cool with you bringing food from neighboring restaurants. There's a convenience store across the street if you want to get some drunchies/snacks. D R I N K S I'm basic so had three different gins on the rocks (Hendrick's and two small batch ones recommended by the bartender). They were served over a collins ice cube to not dilute the gin. Usually, I prefer small batch liquor but the ones available were too perfume-y and juniper forward so I would stick with Hendrick's next time. My friend had three greyhounds made with grey goose. Six drinks plus a soda was $80 pre-tip...very reasonable for SF standards. S E R V I C E Chill and prompt. A M B I A N C E Trendy with rustic touches and a fireplace. 90s hip hop playing. Very nice outdoor terrace adorned with string lights. There's a handful of high tops and heat lamps available. P A R K I N G Street parking only; can be challenging at night. Overall, cool hipster, neighborhood bar in Parkside/Outer Sunset. Would def return if I was in the area again and needing a drank. Hope I don't have to create my own parking space though! read more

Nice place to grab a drink and relax. Close to the beach parking is tuff but it is the city.

It's always been a mixed bag in terms of service and cocktail quality. The location and bar setup are great.

Drinks are really basic here and not that memorable. Bar hours are really early for closing time - guessing since it's a neighborhood bar and not many people venture out in the outer sunset. Small and cozy bar. The only thing I like here is their fireplace. read more

What a great find! There's no other bar in the sunset area that hand crafts each drink like this place does. The drinks had creative names ie 'surfer on acid' 'absinthe minded' & such. We enjoyed sitting at the bar so we could watch the bartenders peel citrus for the twist/garnish while carefully mixing each concoction. The drinks were perfectly balanced. *shout out to Aiden! One of out bartenders;) *get the bolo tie! I had 2 (friends had 3+ each) read more

OH man, so glad we found this place. Arrived at White Cap at around 4pm, stayed til 9pm. No regrets. Cocktails were on point. First drink we ordered was the Botanist Negroni made with The Botanist Gin, Campari, and White Caps' own special Vermouth, served on a nice large rock. Definitely exceeded expectations. The Flash (Automatic Gin No. 5, Kiwi, Cucumber Lime) - slightly sweet, sour, refreshing. Surfer on Acid (super cool Mai Tai-esqe cocktail) White Cap Martini (The Botanist Gin, Seaweed Vermouth, 3 olives) Wife wanted a Caipirinha, Eric the barman delivered. Good fun and good chats all night. Highly recommend read more

When you first come into this hidden little gem on Taraval you don't notice the back area ... there is a warm fireplace, comfy beautiful blue colored bench back chairs and stools. The main bar is where most patrons come up to first. There you'll find a drink list and the l specials on the chalkboard above. The drinks are exceptional, handcrafted, and well balanced. Although sultry inside, the place is actually quite casual because well, it's the beach. I think it's the perfect place to meet somebody for a drink on a first date; which I've gone on, and or, after a walk down the beach path. It's conveniently nestled in with the Underdogs too Mexican restaurant where you can bring in a bite if you like. I had the house Paloma and my friend a nice Jefferson Reserve whiskey. I asked for my drink to be a little bit spicy and that's exactly how he made it - no more no less, yes very good bartenders. One of my favs bars in the outer Sunset for sure. read more

It's hard to find a cute craft cocktail bar in the outer sunset district but I think I found one! I loved the stylish and chic interior, there's a fireplace and more private tables towards the back of the bar. We walked in and saw a customer with her dogs, a dog friendly bar just seems like a happier place! All of the drinks were very tasty and garnished with fresh condiments. One of my favorite was the 131 hearts, it was light and refreshing with a hint of pineapple. My other favorite is the Tea Garden, it's a refreshing tomato/jasmine drink but not savory, it may not be for everyone but I enjoyed it so much. They had the cutest cactus and flamingo straws to go with our drinks. Both the bar tenders were attentive and checked up on us throughout our stay. They don't serve food here but I did see other parties bringing a box of pizza and eating it. This would be a great place to catch up with a friend or take someone out on a date to. Will be back soon read more

I never write reviews but was really upset after what transpired on 9/14. Used to love this place but NEVER coming again. Drunk girl tried to hog the bar seats. As we entered, bartender told us one seat was free so we proceeded to sit. Drunk girl said that seat was saved too. Fine. We get up and stand. A guy and his guest were leaving so he told us we could have his seats - great! Drunk girl then changes her mind and says she wants those seats instead. Bartender (girl with short hair) rolls her eyes along with drunk girl when I tell her no - we want to sit on those seats. I caught looks several times between the bartender and drunk girl as we scan the menu. Super unwelcoming and not getting my business or tip. We immediately left. As one of the only cocktail bars in the sunset, sad to see this. Bad service and vibes all around. read more

Super hipster. But that's not a bad thing right? The drinks are super eclectic. Lots of good choices. Not your ordinary bar in the sunset, no Jameson or Pabst. The music was controlled by the owner off his phone. I made a comment about a Billy Ocean song and we started talking. He's a nice guy and I liked his style, which made me appreciate the bar better. Only bad thing? Drink prices are a little over the top for what you get. read more

3.5 STARS A girlfriend and I decided to keep it local as we didn't want to have a crazy night. (We both live in the Avenues.) Since we were looking through Eater's list of SF's Hottest Cocktail Bars, I suggested checking out White Cap. I arrived first on Thursday, May 3rd, a little after 6:30pm. It wasn't hard finding a spot as I was the only customer here. Decided to sit at the bar. My gf showed up shortly after and joined me. We both ended up getting the Murphy Manhattan: larceny bourbon, lustau vermut, dale degroff, pimento bitters. All cocktails here are $12. It was a decent cocktail. Smooth and good for sipping. The vibe here is very chill and laid back. You can definitely have a few rounds while catching up with a friend. My gf and I were going to have dinner with some friends nearby, so we only stayed for the one round. Small, cute cocktail bar in the Outer Sunset / Parkside. Not the best cocktails I've had, but okay for a bar in the Avenues. Would have loved to see the bar with the fireplace on, but maybe I'll find myself back here on a cold night. That fireplace does sound cozy. read more

Not too many "upscale" cocktail bars out near the beach so we were excited to try this bar on a nice Saturday afternoon. Place was somewhat busy--2/3 bar stools taken, half the outdoor tables taken. Single bartender was a bit overwhelmed. We were patiently waiting for him to finish up his previous orders so we could order drinks for an outdoor table, but then he mixed drinks for two people at the bar who had come in well after us. Didn't greet us, acknowledge us, or thank us for waiting. The drinks were underwhelming. The Maple "Sugar Sledge" Hammer was way too sweet. I tried to let the ice (a nice clear cube) melt as much as possible before drinking, but that ended up diluting the Wild Turkey flavor along with the sugar. And I like watching a bartender craft a cocktail as much as the next guy, but seeing him finger and press each orange peel garnish as he trimmed them while still handling money, going to the back for more liquor, etc. was kinda gross. Overall it was good enough for a Sat afternoon, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

The best non-alcoholic cocktails I've ever had! I recently went dry but was craving a cocktail and bar experience. Usually find mocktails too sweet or basically just juice/soda. These were not too sweet, not boring, perfectly balanced. Cute too! Friendly bartender and patrons, unfussy laid back vibe but with aesthetic. Great for stopping by on your walk to the beach. read more
