A local bar spot. Went during happy hour with a girlfriend of mine. Super friendly staff there. The bartender with glasses was so nice and inviting, he even offered to make his own creation of a shot which we tried. No food served but the welcome outside food so we got a pizza from Irving St and brought it back. Played a couple of rounds of pool & music played in the background. A great hangout spot. read more

Friendly service in this neighborhood bar on a weekday night! The beers were fresh and easy to drink, and their solid selection and variety of draughts made it a good spot for casual drinks with friends. Couple of bar games available along with the bartenders being flexible about the TV channel made for a great night. read more

We stopped at this bar on Sunday, September 6. We walked in at noon and the female bartender made me a margarita. It's the best margarita I have ever had! I'm 68 years old so I have had enough margaritas in my life to be able to rate a margarita. read more

Great neighborhood bar. TVs scattered around for games, a pool table and food. Happy Hour as of April 2025 is M-F, 4-6pm Convenient seating, since it's at the corner of 19th and Lincoln, parking is rough. Easy to uber, bus, or walk here. Cool spot to come for a drink, a bite, and a game! They have a few different TVs throughout the place and are able to play a handful of games/shows at once. Trish, our wonderful and fun bartender was happy to change the TV and put on a game we wanted, as well as get the sound going for us. Drinks and food were both good, and very reasonably priced. They had a nice variety of beers on draft, a couple different seltzer options, and a full bar. read more

Great neighborhood spot and will be back. Good drink selection, fun staff, and some really talented DJs on decks late night.

We loved it here! As kids who grew up here then have traveled away and returned as adults...we indulged in the coziest, friendliest spot right off the path from the park. TRISH made us feel so welcome, cleaned off a table for us to play cards on and took wonderful care of us. Made us yummmmmmy drinks and feel at home. Thank you read more

I loved the energy and set up of this bar/restaurant. We went for my friend's birthday and the bartenders were very welcoming and accommodating. We reserved a few tables and were able to bring our own cake to celebrate! There's also a pool table in the bar and a Mexican restaurant connected to it. The bar/restaurant is located across the street from golden gate park which is convenient/nice if you're looking for a park day before heading over. Overall good drinks, food, and great service. read more

We order takeout/delivery from here often. Why? B/c all the food tastes fresh & they follow directions submitted via delivery. We give 5/5 for chicken Asada nachos. The chips are fresh, crispy & delicious. They put the wet ingredients on the side so they don't get soggy. Their salsas are awesome, our favorite is the salsa verde. The BRC burrito is probably our favorite in the city. read more

Came here after a class that was in the neighborhood. Good vibes inside, decent variety of beer, and food was good. We got beers and tacos. The crispy tacos weren't greasy and all of them tasted really great. The chips and salsa with the food was also a nice little side. Chips super crispy which I love and salsa had a nice kick to it. Lots of tvs inside and a pool table. It was a chill place to stop in on a Friday night. read more

I for one did not expect there to be good food at a bar, but I stand corrected haha. We came here after a concert in the city and this was one of the few places that was open later in the evening. A bar on one side and a few rows of tables on the other, it's a dimly lit but comfortable place to hang out with friends and get some yummy burritos, tacos, wings, fries, & beer. Enjoy. read more

Great local vibe, friendly bar staff and happy hour M-F. Also on some Wednesday or Thursday great giveaways.

It's been almost a solid decade since I've been back to Chug Pub, and it's good to see some things don't change. It still has that vibe of SF sports bar without pretension, but alas some things do have to change. I like that the pandemic has turned this place into more of a locals bar instead of a frat bro hangout (no more beer towers). Casa Barajas is an okay addition, but honestly, the food used to be better. And, for more of a locals bar, the overhead music overpowers everything. You'll end up screaming at the people across from you all night. read more

So, we did end up going again. No one answered the phone before but now that I think about it, it's probably just to control the amount of To-go orders they get. The bartender was a really cool guy, he was super helpful with drinks and TV stuff. The lady that takes the food orders was really kind as well. The food here is SO good. We've decided the steak is the way to go - meat wise. It's flavoring is just amazing. We got the nachos, a quesadilla and a burrito. The nachos with the carnitas is bomb. We regretted not getting the steak in the burrito because it was so, so good in the quesadilla. If I had to chose one thing to go back for it would be the quesadilla. read more

This is my friends' newest hangout spot. I finally decided to grace my presence upon them this past weekend. Haha. =P We got the beer tower. $30 for 3 liters of beer. Kinda pricey. But it includes a free appetizer per tower. The garlic fries and nachos are pretty good. Drawbacks about the towers: nothing to keep the beer cold and must pour verrrry slowly to avoid the head. $1 pool and 50 cents Marvel vs Capcom. Not a bad way to spend Saturday night! =D read more

One of my favorite bars in San Francisco! Such a great place to watch any and all sports games (they have so many TVs and are willing to change the channel if you ask politely). Everyone that comes here is super nice and gets along well, there is such a community feel here! Also with relatively cheap happy hour specials, how could you go wrong here! I love to take my friends that are visiting here to watch a game after showing them golden gate park and ocean beach! And after if you're hungry, the Taco Shop at Underdogs is perfect for some drunk food and just a short walk away! read more

On my favorites places to go when I was a student at SF State. I just so happened to stop by this past week to meet up with friends and was reminded of why this was always an ideal spot to go to on Friday and Saturday nights. I was here this past Thursday and it was the best timing and day to be there. It was not crowded at all and my group had plenty of space to roam around without bumping into other patrons. The beers on tap were only $3 as well which was awesome. I believe there were only 2 bartenders working at the time or maybe they had just switched shifts, not sure. The pool table was open and available as well which was nice. The other games I saw that they provide here are Jenga and a home arcade basketball game. As for the bathrooms.....I'll let you experience that for yourself! Overall, a good night and good drinks. #ThirstyThursdays read more

ANNA- bartender had a dress with her boobs nearly spilling out. Gives ALLLLLLL her attention to the men at the bar. Zero regard for the women I wanted a BLOODY MARY and she had the AUDACITY to say it's $150.00........ on what planet does a Bloody Mary costs that much. I don't know how the hell she still has a job there. She was HORRIBLE laughed in my face proceeds to tell the guy next to me how funny it was so he could laugh too. I'm a lush that doesn't like bars (a total oxymoron); I prefer lounges instead. BUT, Chug Pub is my favorite bar in SF! PROS: *Strong drinks and fairly priced drinks (~$8) *HH is 3PM - 8PM ($3 beers and $3 well cocktails) *BOMB ASS GARLIC FRIES *Friendly bartenders *Chill crowd that's not too Asian (i.e. FOBs) like other Sunset neighborhood bars *Flat screens, pool table, and video poker machines *Enclosed outdoor patio for smoking CON(S) *BEWARE of the concrete mystery log right outside the front door. I've always tripped over it or fell backwards over it. *sigh* I've only gone to Chug Pub on weeknights so I'm not sure how it's like on the weekends. But if you're having one of those "days", the $30 Chug Tower is the be all and END all of it. read more

Stopped by Chug Pub after dinner one evening with some friends. It had an Irish pub feel and was fairly spacious with adequate seating. Also equipped with a pool table and an old school arcade video game. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/rPwB56EQ9JfEo2mN24fqOQ?select=9JFFMAklyYHz54C46XpaIA) The garlic fries were pretty addicting but the nachos were just alright. Thanks to one of my besties (whom I haven't seen in almost a year) who dragged me and Lovie out last Friday night. This was the location of our impromptu reunion. When we walked in and saw our friends, there was something else that caught Lovie's eye: this cylinder full of beer! Oh boy, I haven't seen his eyes light up so wide since the first time he laid eyes on me ;-) Lovie was so amazed at the sight. And at 30 bucks for 7 pints of Blue Moon with an appetizer of choice, we were chug chugging the night away. Mucho props for serving food all night at good prices. 5 bucks for a basket full of onion rings were greasy deliciousness. And those cheese and salsa fries were just as good! Boo for closing at 1:30. With the pool table, video games, TVs, and hanging out with good friends, I wanted to stay longer! If you live in the Sunset, you have to check this place out! read more

"I'm getting ultimate fires at Chug Pub" is just about the sketchiest-sounding statement you could make about plans in the Sunset. It doesn't help that Chug Pub looks dark and stormy, there is a smoking room, the crowd is not the hip twentysomethings of SoMA, and overall ambiance reminds me of Moe's from the Simpsons. But once you get over the apparent sketchiness and appreciate it instead as divey, Chug Pub is a neat place: (+) Decent selection of beer on tap, and happy hour is $3 select pints until 6pm. We actually got there a little after 6 and the bartender didn't notice, but she still gave us HH on our first drinks. Cocktails are hit-or-miss and somewhat inconsistent in terms of strength. (+) Pool table and Pacman arcade games. Fee-for-service, but these games are entertaining in themselves and ridiculously amusing after a few dranks. (+) Many TV's. The extent to which I follow sports is mostly limited to what I passively absorb on my Facebook newsfeed, but for all normal people out there who watch sports, I like how there are plenty of TV's so you don't have to turn around and sit at weird angles. (+) The food is pretty amazing. Unlike overpriced generic burgers and fries you find at most bars (or worse, no food), Chug Pub gets creative and has used psychoanalytic optimization to concoct the best drunchies food of your imagination. We stopped by for drinks one night and saw some people eating what essentially looked like In-N-Out animal fries on steroids, so we made it a point to go back. The ultimate fries are indeed the ultimatum of bar food: a basket of waffle fries bigger than your face, generously slathered with cole slaw (yes, veggies!), pulled pork, bacon, BBQ sauce, jalapenos, and topped with a RUNNY fried egg and DINO CHICKEN NUGGETS. I know the exaggeration looks funny in a review, but it exactly illustrates my excitement :D Although the ingredients were mostly canned/frozen/bottled, everything together was delicious. Also, the portion was large enough to feed two hungry people for dinner (and probably more for post-prandial late-night drunchies). (?) Parking? If you plan to chug, you should not be driving :P read more

Fun atmosphere. The perfect place to get together with friends and grab a drink. Get there early because it tends to get packed. Definitely go for the beer tower! 1) Don't judge me for going to Chug Pub on a Tuesday night. I like avoiding massive crowds from time to time. 2) Don't judge me for ordering the biggest beer for the cheapest dollar on the menu. I mean, actually clean. read more

We checked out the outdoor seating at Chug Pub yesterday, and really enjoyed the experience. It seems like a really fun bar, and they were bumpin some cool music. They have about 8 or so tables outside (we were able to snag one of the last two open tables at about 7), and they're currently requiring folks to order food from Casa Barajas, which is inside of the bar, in order to be seated outside. Their beers are pretty reasonably priced, and the bartender was incredibly fast and friendly! He was attentive to all of the tables, running out and checking on everyone often. We'll probably be back during quarantine, and we can't wait to come back once operations are fully back to normal in the future. read more

I went here to for my 21st birthday with some friends and my boyfriend and we had a great time. The interior was typical pub fair, but what I first noticed was the Pringles dispenser near the door. Genius! The bartender was very nice and she told me a happy birthday, which I appreciated. Our group settled in the smoking room, which is a little section of room open to the side walk. My bf ordered the "Beer Tower" which, in my opinion, was absolutely beautiful, haha. As the night went on we had more drinks and just had a chill time. When we arrived at the pub there was hardly anyone there (we went on a Saturday night) but after a while more people came in, even a group of guys in fake moustaches and beards! I wanted to know what the reason for the fake facial hair was (and to ask for one myself, haha) but they left before I got a chance to. Oh well. The food was ok. I ordered a burger and fries and they weren't anything special, but my bf did say the food can be pretty good but it varies. What I didn't really like was that there were no toilet seat covers in the bathrooms, but nothing like setting some toilet paper down can fix. I enjoyed Chug Pug as my first bar and I would be happy to go again. read more
