Checked out Lobby Bar in the Castro with a friend and had a solid experience overall. I tried the hazy IPA and the Lobby Bar cocktail--both were well made, with the IPA being especially smooth and easy to drink. The space has a great vibe, but part of the back area was rented out for a group, so seating was a bit limited. We had to wait a few minutes before grabbing a spot, which wasn't ideal, but it moved quickly enough. Once we were seated, it was a really enjoyable hang. I hosted a small birthday get-together at Lobby Bar and it was perfect. Grace, the owner, went all out -- she decorated our little section with Halloween and birthday touches that made the night feel personal and festive. The space is stylish and cozy, with great music and an inviting vibe. The craft cocktails are spot-on -- creative, balanced, and beautifully made -- and the snacks deserve a shoutout too. The fries are crisp perfection and the mini Brazilian pão de queijo waffles are addictive. Grace and her team made the whole evening feel effortless and special. This bar was a delightful surprise. I'm unsure if they serve food, I came in just for sips with friends. Our server was very patient and knowledgeable, and made a delicious espresso martini. A fun fact I learned is, all of the spirit served are small batches. The ambiance is masculine but inviting. My friends and I stopped by Lobby Bar for post-dinner drinks on a Saturday evening. The area near the bar was pretty crowded but the front of the house was quite empty. I particularly enjoyed this part of the bar because the loud music doesn't reach so you're able to have a conversation without having to yell loudly. I ordered a Manhattan and it was stiff, as a properly made one should be. It was priced lower than your average cocktail bar so this was a welcomed surprised. Along with your classic cocktails, I was also surprised to find a tiki drink -- the Saint Tiki, "roe & co whiskey, falernum, mommenpop kumquat, peach, mint, yerba mate, lemon" -- on the menu, considering this was not a tiki bar. I only stayed around for one drink, but would happily drop by again to try out some of their other creative cocktails. read more

We sat in the front. We sent one person to buy and also to pick up our drinks. because we didn't want to crowd the bar. We did NOT expect table service. Two customers (perhaps friends of the bar tender) came by and made snide marks to us about the bar being busy and bartender didn't have time for us. we thought that was odd? then we went to pick up our drinks which were at the bar- just three done- while she was working on the other two. which was fine. we picked them up and brought them to our group. then the bartender brings the two other drinks and tells us "like we are stupid " that she doesn't have time to do table service. (which we didn't expect)" This is so weird cause we are 5 ppl buying drinks why would you talk that way to customers- we gave em- the benefit of the doubt and still tipped 20%- I'm guessing they had a bad day and taking it out on customers or new and overwhelmed. Really enjoyed this location. Great ambiance, great staff, good vibez. Location is a smaller bar probably only fits around 40 people but it's worth it. The staff was phenomenal with helping pick out the best drinks. They have an array of unique drinks which honestly I think we tried all of them and they were amazing. The real star was the staff. This was my second time at this bar, and I just tried to place my drink order and asked for a Mojito. The bartender in the front was very nice and was not sure if they had mint and he called another bartender to check. The bartender from the back just came there and confirmed that they had mint syrup to make drink and then just looked at me and yelled while rolling their eyes: "what?", "what?", I was really confused with that random attitude and then he said: "what do you want?" while I had already placed my order and the first bartender came to nudge him that he knows about my order. I was extremely furious with the attitude he was showing me; I hope he learns some manners on how to work professionally before he gets employed in any bar on this planet. This has got to be one of my favorite bars in the Castro. The drinks here are phenomenal in uniqueness but also in flavor! The food here is great to have a couple of semi light bites before going out and about. The atmosphere of this bar is so cute. It's almost like a speakeasy vibe. We thought that we had found our new favorite cocktail bar near our house and we were so excited we took our friends back with us for a nightcap drink after our dinner reservation. An African American man In a Hawaiian shirt covering the back half of the bar was so rude to us tonight. He made it clear that he did not want us there period. He wanted us to order drinks in the hall but there were plenty of seats available. After we ordered one round of drinks he brought us the bill and made it clear we needed to leave when we had done nothing except not being gay. It's just so sad to experience discrimination like this is the Castro. The crew that worked earlier in the night was fantastic and welcoming but that guy needs to be fired if they want to build up a positive reputation in the neighborhood. We wanted to be near eachother while having drinks because our friend is deaf in one ear. Look - I wanted to like this place. We were staying at the kasa rental next door. It was perfect. We decided to stop in for drink and a bite for a concert nearby. Our elevator from the hotel opened into the bar and we walked in. We were immediately confronted with a bartender who said "you're not in trouble, but how did you get in here through that elevator". First, no f'ing s$?t I'm not in trouble, I just walked into your bar. Second, I don't know, we hit "1" in the elevator and the door opened. Unfortunately, the treatment did not get better after that. He was rude. Never offered a food menu - so we assumed they were not serving food until we left and saw people eating. The drinks were mediocre. Full disclosure - we are a straight couple. I hope that did not play a part, but if it did that is messed up. I don't want you to be treated different because your gay. Don't treat me differently because I'm not gay. Finally!!! The Castro has been in dire need of a swanky but cozy bar/restaurant like the Lobby Bar. It's not only beautifully designed but you can tell a lot of thought went into curating the food & drink menus. I've sampled a few of the creative cocktails and all of them have been delightful. My personal favs are the Bee Sting and Spa Day (c'mon, even the drink names are freakin' cute). If you want a real stiff drink delivered in the most fitting way, try the Tetanus Shot. The food is equally delicious. I recently devoured the arancini, the Turkey burger and fries. The staff could not be more friendly and accommodating. And lastly...the music. This is the perfect new date spot in the Castro! The intimate atmosphere is great for grabbing a drink after work or before heading out around the neighborhood. We stopped in on a Tuesday evening and snagged the last two seats at the bar which has the cutest most comfortable green felt and fir bar stools. The curated craft cocktail list had some great tequila, whiskey, gin and vodka options for everyone. Might I recommend the Lobby Bird - it wasn't too sweet and had a nice refreshingness to it. We ordered a few different food items to try out the menu and find our favorites. The Sweet and Spicy pizza was bomb AF and the french onion dip was a delicious appetizer to munch on while we waited. Would definitely order both of those again. Overall, the ambiance felt sophisticated, quant and intimate. Not a very large place, so either get here early, or plan to grab a cocktail at the bar while you wait for a seat. Considering the size of the place, parties of 2 to 3 are ideal for this place! I had an interesting experience here last night. It's my first time coming out to the bars in Castro and decided to come here for date night post kidney transplant surgery. The menu had a pretty decent selection. I chose the non alcoholic beverage and some popcorn. My partner chose his drink.. the atmosphere was beautiful and the bartender was nice. However that's where the fun stopped. I had to go to the bathroom and there was a three person line so I chose to wait next to (not in front of) the door that goes into the kitchen. The bar back (tall, white, with dirty blonde hair) slammed the door into me, then proceeded to yell "go! Just go!" To me. I kindly told him there was a line and I wasn't able to move. He continues to yell at me then gives me attitude as he pushes himself past me to go behind the bar. I loudly say, " I'm sorry.." then used the restroom. I went back to my partner towards the front. Where I will say the seating area is beautiful and whoever came up with the concept...a+ wonderful place to have a conversation. The same barback comes and I notice him berating guests about the empty glassware.. and there was no patience or respect on his part to clear the glassware or navigate through the guests. Just plain rudeness. You could feel the anger emanating from him. I used to barback at a bar in the Castro with 20 times the capacity and have never been this stressed out. So if I may, management, you need to talk to him. There is no way that guests should experience this kind of hostility in a nice environment as lobby bar. It's not a nightclub. It's a bar, and a nice one at that. The experience shouldn't be this chaotic. As a person who is a native to the Castro, and to sf, who underwent major surgery on their first time out. This was a very sad experience. Honestly, I never leave yelp reviews with this low of a rating. But this has greatly affected what would've been a nice date night 7weeks after being isolated after surgery. read more

The drinks here are well thought out and a lot of creativity goes into each drink. All spirits are local, small, queer, POC, and/or women owned. Eva is SO knowledgable about the spirits they serve and will curate a drink of your choice by a question or two and she's on her creative way. The wine program is also fantastic and they pour a liiittttttllleeee heavy (VERY heavy!) on the wine pours.
