Dirty martini with free chips (instagram: wooneats)
    Kiana S.

Cool bar with a great atmosphere. There was only one guy working and it was pretty busy, but he held it down well. The lighting is very dim, which gives it a romantic vibe, though it's also a fun spot to grab drinks with friends. My dirty martini was definitely strong -- no complaints there. They also offer free chips and candy, which was a really nice and unexpected touch.

in my opinion, I really like this spot. very unassuming but nice reprieve from the crowds milling up and down the street and did I mention the cocktails, very nice indeed and the prices are very reasonable for the City. the staff are mellow while being very efficient. We tend to gravitate toward the rear of the lounge sitting on one of the couches. They seem to have happy hours often but my son is more knowledgeable about that, he introduced us to this very nice spot. the lounge could have a dive vibe but the lighting and decorations lift it above dive but dive prices are welcome and achieved here. parking could be a challenge as the street is closed on weekends which is nice indeed my opinion. Seating is limited but never seems to be short On our visits

Friday special: strawberry margs on margs on margs
    Megan J.

Well overdue to update my review! If I could, all I'd say is: 6/5 stars. Only notes: strawberry margs on Friday! Pro tip: grab food from Arbor (curly fries + vegan 'burger') or Hayz Dog (The Flukey) across the street. But Yelp loves some details, so: Sugar will 5ever be my favorite bar for Friday nights thanks to the strawberry margaritas -- flavor AND price cannot be beat. Yes, it's a real strawberry puree. No, it's not too sweet. Yes, they are incredibly strong/dangerous. Service is great. They've recently-ish edited how the bar service area is set up, which helps with flow of ordering and knowing where to stand ~in line~ even if it's your first time. They also recently installed one of those new fangled jukebox app majiggers, so for a few dollars and sometimes some patience, you can set the playlist! Low lighting inside, with Christmas ornaments hanging from the ceiling, low couches that are easy to get stuck in if you sit too far back (lol), glowing cocktail tables, bar stool around the bar, and a handful of high top tables/chairs along the east side wall opposite the bar. I love their parklet, which recently got a makeover -- super sturdy floor, extended roof, more room for seats and a nice lil ledge along the side without tables to set drinks. From a mellow weeknight Halloween, to enjoying people watching after Bill Graham concerts end, celebrating birthdays, and many many more "sure, why not!?" occasions... I can roll into Sugar wearing sweats and hair that needs washing OR after a super fancy dinner + symphony show because all are welcome any day, any time.

Sugar Lounge is a decent and chill bar. It is a perfect venue for post-work hangouts. The place can get busy, but not overly crowded. Their drinks were decently priced and are quite strong (at least for the cocktails I ordered). Overall, no complaints - a solid choice for a chill bar.

I came here a bunch of times before and had a good experience each time. The bar staff were nice and friendly, the place had music playing and when there's a big game, it is shown on the tvs, the drinks were indeed quite sugary and satisfies my sweet tooth. There's also snacks (a plus)! There is also a jukebox if you want to play some tunes, but I wouldn't recommend it during a big game.

I went here with some coworkers to celebrate being doing with grad school. Immediately when I walked in and I noticed the candy/snack tower. A great treat to have especially after drinking. I ordered the Chocolate Man-Tini. To me the drink was not very sweet I tasted more alcohol than sweet so be mindful of that If that's is something you are looking for. Nonetheless the drink was still good! I would come back again and have recommended the spot for other coworkers who said they went and loved their experience there.

Sugar Lounge is hands down my all-time favorite bar. It's got that perfect mix of intimate and cozy, with a low-key vibe that makes you want to stay all night. The inside is moody and inviting, and there's a chill little back area that's great for small groups or date night hangs. The drinks are sweet and creative, the staff is flirty and fun, and they even serve candy with your cocktails -- how cute is that?! If you're looking for a spot that's effortlessly cool without being overhyped, Sugar Lounge is the one.

Shirley and Shaun are really great welcoming bartenders and hosts. They are welcoming open friendly and greet us all the same. I appreciate them and often if they are not there I will leave after just one drink. There is a great atmosphere and music. Love going to my neighborhood hangout bar. Thank you Shirley and Shaun y'all are amazing and the reason I come back often. Additional - Thanks Tony, D'Angelo, Shirley, and Shaun for helping make it a great birthday last night. Y'all are truly the best bar staff in SF. My hat is awesome.

The place was a bit packed on a Thursday afternoon during happy hour, and it's not a surprise why. The decor and furnishings created a lovely and inviting setting, even the lighting in the bar and lounge added to the appeal. And of course, can't beat the happy hour cocktail specials. The $5 lemon drop spritz was a generous serving of a delicious and satisfying concoction. And we absolutely enjoyed the chocolate man-tini and richmond gimlet too, which were made well, strong and tasty. As we sat at the bar, the staff made us feel welcome and provided professional and friendly service. We had a great time here and would definitely return to try more items on their menu.

I was craving a refreshing craft cocktail and got one with the Green Emmanuelle. I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.

I think in many ways, Blind Pig just fell a little flat. I would like to say that the service here was amazing. A bartender who sat with you to talk about the menu, the process, and your experience very passionately and intently.  However, I think that the bar program is a little unrefined. Every drink had 10,000 ingredients, and most of them did not work together. If the drink did work together, you just tasted nothing because everything blended together and you couldn't taste any special or fun ingredients.  Unfortunately, I don't think this spot is worth looking for.

Seeing that it was named one of the top 50 best bars in North American, we had to check it out! We came in a Thursday night in mid-April about 9:45 PM. They have security outside thar checks IDs & also manages the queue in case the bar gets too crowded. We had no issues getting in, but there were zero indoor seats available - both the bar & table seating. Thankfully, they have a really cozy & well-lit patio area. The waitress let us know that even the outdoor patio has table-side service, so we made ourselves comfortable on the outdoor bench & within seconds she had brought us waters & cocktail menus. Weather outside was really nice, so I'm glad we actually sat outside. Each cocktail is $20, which definitely is a little steep, but I think the creativity, quality, & prestige of being named a top 50 bar supports the price. Each part of the menu is organized by liquor ie whiskey, vodka, brandy, gin, etc. We tried 4 drinks total. I only took menu photos of the pages we ordered from but they have a lot more selections. We ordered the Kung Fu Pandan, Silky Street, Rice Rice Baby, & Tropical Gangsta. We had some favorites over others, but all were very well crafted! The drinks came out pretty quickly considering how busy it was. The only hiccup was our final drink took quite a while. Turns out the ticket machine malfunctioned & deleted orders put in & caused a back-up. The waitress was so apologetic & ended up comp-ing 2 drinks, which she definitely didn't have to but it speaks volumes to the high standards they hold themselves to & their customer service. Overall, highly highly recommend checking this place out for a fun night out or post-dinner treat! Glad we made the decision to stop in!
