If you're looking for Williamsburg/nyc vibes in Sf, this place is it! The outdoor patio is a total vibe and probably the best we've seen in the city. The food and drinks were all great - skip the breadsticks but definitely try the rock shrimp and lamb sliders!

Fantastic place to grab a beverage and relax with friends! The space is so bright and inviting and the bartenders are so nice! The back patio is also just divine! Drinks are delicious, and they are more than willing to do substitutions. HOWEVER, I felt a bit robbed by the food. I ordered the breadsticks which were $14 and when I tell you DAYLIGHT BUGULARY. I got 4 or 5 twigs!! Literally like long pretzels and some dipping sauce. I was shook. Now I understand why people kept doordashing food to this location! Come for the drinks. Nothing else!

Vibes are classic marina but the best looking bar in the area to do it. Big back deck space with good options for seating, darker and cool vibes inside. Olive oil martini was not my fave drink but decent. Happy hour options are not necessarily happy hour deals but were delicious none the less. In a city without any happy hours at all really, it's nice that they try to offer it. Service was attentive and friendly. Great for after work drinks or to bring your NYC friends on your mission to convince them that SF is just as cool as their city. (SF, you'll never win)

Fun bar with good drinks in the Marina! Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. It was a diverse crowd with all age groups present, which was nice to see now that I'm not one of the youths. They had around 10 cocktails and some NA options. They hit all of the popular liquors, and had multiple of most. They also had a small food menu with sliders, tots, and some other snacks. We got the tots and they were a hit. I ended up getting two of the sparky, their version of an espresso martini, which was really good! Also tasted the Asher, their regular martini, and it was nice and boozy. We had great service from Jasmine, who got us all of our drinks out pretty quickly and was great at checking in to see if we needed more, even though the place was packed. The indoor area is pretty big, with some open/bartop space up front, a nice bigger group sitting area, and then some smaller tables parallel to the long bar. It's self seating, so might be hard to get a space if you have a larger group, but plenty of tables opened up for people to move around while we were in. They have pool tables towards the back, and even have a back patio!

Walked in here after perusing Books Inc and before dinner. Stumbled in because it was new! It was pretty busy before dinner time on a Wednesday evening. Weather was good and the outdoor seating was divine! They have heaters and the back outdoor area is a vibe. Drinks were strong and service was good. Will be back!

Decided to stop by Bar Darling to kill some time and to finally try a glass of orange wine. We sat ourselves, but weren't helped after a while so just went of the bar to order, but saw that there are servers that go around if you grab a table. As someone trying to acquire the taste for wine, I've been extremely curious about orange wine, and I really liked the one here! I'm not great at describing wine, but this is one of the first glasses of wine that I wasn't forcing myself to drink! This is a great spot if you're looking to grab a drink and relax before dinner!

Chic, cute, and modern. Loved the design, the cocktails, and the whole atmosphere. Definitely a new favorite. The cocktails is so delicious and beautifully made. Busy marina location with meter street parkings.

Went to meet a friend visiting from out of town for drinks on a midweek night. Don't usually head to the Marina often anymore and was initially going to L'il OJs as he had dinner resys at A16. A little too crowded at the bar but heard about Bar darling from my 20 something child and a buddy who owns a nearby bar. We went in and there was a big after work crowd as well as Thursday night football was showing. Immediately was shown a seat next to the fireplace and was told to try the MamaJ which was great. Place was pretty busy although by the time we left at 8:30 half the bar stools were available. The front of the place is pretty open and it can get cold in there (my friend is from Miami and was freezing) i had a tee shirt and was perfectly fine. Drinks in the $14 range

Such a cute spot! We sat outside, which was super cozy and well decorated. We both got the Oh Darling cocktail, which was tasty and strong. Tried the rice cakes and smoked salmon crudo. Both were delicious, especially the rice cakes. Great vibes overall. Would definitely come back!

We stopped by just before the holidays for a drink on a Friday night with some friends and got a holiday special with coconut milk and rum which was super yummy and I loved how it was sweet and creamy but not too much. I also tried the Asher with gin, olive oil wash and rosemary which was nicely balanced. Overall it's a fun cocktail bar with a good amount of seating both at tall tables and at the booths. A good choice for a drink in the Marina.

Huge new spot in the Marina with fresh cocktails and unique delicious bites to pair. Sat outside on their expansive patio area and received great service on a relatively quiet Monday evening. We tried the Oh Darling and Tam Tam cocktails. Both were prepared very well. Fresh, juicy, ice cold and balanced. The colors on these are also very vibrant and eye catching. I had read that they partnered with Mamanoko nearby to develop the food menu so I was excited to try some of their bites as that's one of the best spots in this area. Wontons were a great snack but what really set this place apart for me were the Rice Cakes. Delicious, great textures and flavors and a fresh fish made this my favorite bite easily. I'd come back just for those and order 2 rounds of them! We were intrigued by the burger dog so we gave that a try. It was just okay, wouldn't recommend or order again. Tots were good! Recommend trying some drinks and the rice cakes! They also have a pool table inside.

Food 5/5 (but small), drinks delicious! Came to Bar Darling for a happy hour around 6 pm on Friday - twas packed and busy, but they've got a large indoor and outdoor space to accommodate everyone following the buzz of its opening. Me and my friend hovered at the right time to get a table inside! We ordered the Jaji and Mama J's for drinks + tater tots, spinach tarts, and Brie bites for snacks. Both drinks were delicious - Jaji for something smokey and not too sweet, and the Mama J's for something spicy / balance of savory and sweet. The food was delicious (tho portions are small - most apps have 4 small bites to a plate), the spinach tart so salty and cheesy and the Brie bites tangy from the jam. The tater tots came dusted with some fluffy Parmesan, so delicious. Since we were seated, staff came to our table to take our order, and they were super attentive without rushing anyone! It was a super fun, high energy bar that's great for casual catch up's and the start to a fun night!

While The Marina is one the city's most beautiful neighborhoods, I'm going to real...I always feel like an alien with several heads because I don't fit the aesthetics. BUT the best thing about it? With Manic Mondays at Matrix and Eastside West long gone, I never run into anyone I know. Avoiding awkward convos for the win! I'm a big fan of Peacekeeper (Lower Nob Hill) and April Jean (North Beach), and looking forward to their reopening of Beauty Bar (The Mission). So I wanted to hit up their new bar after visiting my dog's fav shop: Mishka. Opening last Tuesday, Bar Darling took over Squat & Gobble (same block as Campus). Dog-friendly outdoor seating. Along with their seasonal craft cocktails, they have bar bites with an AZN bent like wontons, rice cakes, karaage chicken nuggets, etc. Kitchen opens at 5 pm. We didn't get to try the food since we were headed to an R&B event at Chase Center afterwards. D R I N K S * Mijo Mijo: Vodka w/ tomato, basil, bell pepper, citrus ($14) Their take on a caprese salad, I like that it wasn't sweet. Not sure how I feel about it tho. I've had a similar cocktail elsewhere and liked it. Maybe this rendition is one of those things that eventually grow on you? Their herb stash was past its prime and wilted. * Fortaleza Blanco ($14) My go to at their other bars and a great deal. The Tulum vibe and decor totally reminds me of Peacekeeper with the color scheme of April Jean. There's nature inspired murals, fireplace, skylights (no retracting roof), and a pool table in back. The back patio is where it's going to be at! Overall, solid new bar in The Marina (if there's a next time, I'm sticking with the basics). Big plus....they open at 2 pm on weekdays!

I was excited to see that the first cocktail listed on the menu was the Porn Star. I don't often see this drink offered, so it was a nice surprise. The version here is mixed with vodka but no bubbles. It's barely noticeable though because they made it into such a fruity concoction, I couldn't even taste the alcohol. My group threw some darts, mingled with and chatted up others as they arrived, and eventually migrated to the nightclub side of the bar. I thought the experience was pretty good at first, but after a while I got bored, so I went to join other friends at White Rabbit and continue the night. I definitely think this is a good bar to include in the rotation for bar hopping nights in the Marina.

We were able to snag a table for 3 inside without waiting. The menu wasn't too overwhelming with many options, so it didn't take us long to make our choices. We wanted a variety of appetizers and ate family style! All the food came out at once. I'm not quite sure if timing it that way was wise. I think it would have been better to come out with appetizers first, the entrees because some dishes were cold by the time we got to it. And food prepared hot just doesn't taste good cold! ***OUR PICKS*** AHI TUNA CONES ~ Scallions, sesame, sambal chili mayo, soy, pickled fresno chilies, lime. I thought it was bland and needed some more zest to the tuna, or the dressing did not stand out, possibly from too much mayo. Crispy cones, though. 3/5 BUTTERMILK FRIED CALAMARI ~ Spicy marinara, house tartar sauce. The way it was fried, it seemed as if the oil wasn't hot enough, so the flour absorbed more oil than it should. When biting into the calamari, I got a burst of oil. I've had fried calamari without greasiness. This was quite the opposite. 2.5/5 CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS ~ Soy glaze, toasted garlic, lime, sriracha aioli. Another oily-tasting appetizer. No amount of sauces helped cut the grease. 2.5/5 FISH AND CHIPS ~ This was probably the best out of all we had and it was the special for Fridays. The batter was crispy and fish was tender and not overcooked. Fries were also crispy, even though they were like steak fries. Pleasantly surprised that these fries were better than the shoestring fries that came with our burger! 4/5 BALBOA BURGER ON A BAGUETTE ~ house-made pickles & onions butter lettuce, shoestring fries. The 3 of us shared this by cutting it into sections. The burger had more baguette than meat, so we barely tasted the beef. And the bread wasn't toasted so it was cold, dry, hard but chewy. I think sourdough slices would have made it taste better or a brioche bun. It was bland even with jack cheese, as if it wasn't seasoned with salt and pepper. But the burger was cooked perfectly at medium to medium rare, but it needed other saucy condiments to liven it up like some mustard, mayo, or an aioli. Fries were not crispy or crunchy. It's better at McDonald's. 3/5 Although it's been a long-established restaurant, its food was mediocre. We probably should have ordered only entrees or just drinks. Realizing after eating, lots of what we ordered was fried. It was greasier than we wanted and we felt heavy after our meal. Probably our fault for choosing incorrectly. Thankfully, we walked here and we were able to exercise most of it off before going home. The dining area was pretty noisy, so we had to talk louder than normal. It's not a place you should go for conversations. Possibly sitting outside would have been more pleasant; however, it was windy and chilly, our food would have likely been eaten cold. If you're looking for a cocktail without deep conversations, this spot might be for you! It's lively and popular in this neighborhood. But for food, I'd go elsewhere.

To be fair, there was a mural that was a focal point of the place, which did give Alice vibes in a strong way. However, this mural also did not depict the Alice of Wonderland that Disney allowed us to imagine, instead it gave us Alice gone vogue. The Alice mural (as pictured) has a twenty something girl, with flowing hair, of different shades of blonde and autumn. The girl was looking aimlessly to the horizon. Her eyes were blank yet full of wonder and fully open to an unseen opportunity that she can only love from afar. Her white rabbit had a third eye, and in one hand, she was holding a sweet pop that took the shape of a mushroom and was elegantly oozing with melting pink cream. The picture had become an editorialize version of Alice in a Wonderland that was more modern haute than traditional elevation. I would have preferred an experience that saw a performer dressed as the Mad Hatter and another like the Cheshire Cat. Thus, this vibe claims the name of the White Rabbit but does not deliver an Alice-esque experience. I would have like to know the ambiance of a bar Called Poe's Raven so my imagination can adequately manage its future responsibilities. I went during the days after Christmas, and before New Year's so there was not a lot of people there. This also explains why there is a Grinch and light up tree inflatables around. I can imagine that without the festive decorations, of the season, this bar is a chic cocktail bar where people go to meet and chill, and not discuss the symbolism of the Walrus, the Carpenter, or Anne Hathaway's portrayal of the White Queen. Meaning it is a place to have a good time, not live in deep dialogue. I had three drinks for 16 each. They were strong, well-crafted, and I had three, which says I liked them. I could have had more but my friend Denise was not in the party vibe. And now to the music which was the reason I was excited to write this Yelp. There were three DJ's in the house. The DJ's made Cake Walk, an artist collective who combine rhythm, time, work, and beat and remix (or maybe even update) classics of the 90's and 2000's. In a phrase, they make sweet honey for the ear drums that invite dancing, and general movement thats speaks life into a night- they just carried a good beat along! Denise, who only drank water, and I were vibing to the music, she was sitting, I was not. One of the three DJ's came along to us. His name was Landon, and he was just as nice, sweet, and uplifting, as his and his friend's music. We had conversations about our roles in the world, and how each of them mattered in a specific way. He invited me to party in San Diego. It might not happen, it likely will not, but at least, I believe it could. This was inclusion practiced to a grand degree, in a bar that could be a lounge or club, depending on the night. I want to stress that Denise and I went in because of the music, we stayed cause the place was cool and had drinks that were solid, but it was Landon, and the other DJ's who made the night into a party. For people who are not party dawgs, being escorted into the laser-filled moments of a night, is priceless. Additionally, he invited me to the DJ machine- record spinner? Not sure. And I touch some buttons. Honestly, it looked like a space ship shuttle, with all its button and knobs but I know it is not. I am just trying to describe what I saw based on my knowledge on these machines, which is basically zil. As Landon, and his two co DJ's spun and turned knobs, what seemed to be their parents rolled in. They were dancing, they were taking pictures, I got to see a moment of familial support, in a way I had not seen before. I mean I do not know how many parents would go and party for a quick two minutes when their children were spinning records for a crowd of less than 5 goers. But seeing it was quiet beautiful as all youth deserve to be supported by people who love them unconditionally. And on this night I got to see this promise fulfilled in dance. As I was dancing by myself, Landon came to my side. I started to make the make it rain move, you know pretending that I have enough singles on one hand to just dispense them into the air. And when I did that Landon started to follow the singles dropping with his eyes, expression and movements! Umph!!!

The…read moreBrixton is a classy higher-end spot that is perfect for larger groups or family gatherings. They offer a huge variety of New American fare with generous shareable portions or small plates. The layout was well thought out as every table is comfortable and offers visitors enough room to play musical chairs for those large group meetups. The Brixton gets busy fairly often, but again, the layout and spacing makes it such that you can hear everyone in your party without screaming. The food is great, and I've yet to find a dish that I wouldn't resoundingly recommend. The servers are knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. The Brixton is always on my recommendation list as a place to hang out in the Marina/Cow Hollow area.

But it was still hard to hear each other across the table. My husband had a drink at the bar. He ordered a second at the table and they brought him a third. We ordered wontons that never arrived. He ordered a salad with his hamburger and they brought him fries. The food was delicious. Dessert was disappointed. We ordered an apple pie but it was more like a pop tart. All pastry and only a tiny bit of apples. Our server was very helpful and accommodating. I understand that the kitchen was slammed. But I always wonder when the wait staff who takes your order is not the one delivering your food. That's where the mistakes happen. My scallops were delicious. All four tiny ones. Next time we'll come when it's hopefully quieter.
