Came here for a cute date night and it did not disappoint! Love this place and the ambiance was so cute! I would definitely come back here and recommend this place to anyone who is around. The service was great and my waiter was super helpful explaining everything on the menu. Parking was a hassle but uber would be your best option.
I need to go here for their happy hours (wings are cheaper, $2 oyster during certain days etc) cause the atmosphere was laid back and dim and not too crazy but the menu also looked interesting for a place I thought was just a bar haha!! had their pretzel and it was soft and fluffy and the perfect amount of salt and need to go back to try more of their light bites!!
Nice lush space for cocktails and bites. We tried a couple of drinks from their menu and their chicken tenders and fries. Cocktails were well prepared and tasty. Service was welcoming and well paced. They get very busy in there! Chicken tenders were outstanding and delicious. Fries were a great side. I recommend getting the tenders with bbq sauce added. It was fun to try all their house dips. They are all really good! Finished it off with their Midnight Mookie cocktail which is essentially their espresso martini. Fun spot.
Love this spot- for a quick drink with friends, for a girls night, or for even a date night, this place is great! It is currently decorated for Christmas and is very cute. I have never dined here but the cocktails are unique and all great. My one recommendation- get the p*rnstar martini, it is great!! The service is also fabulous- the bartenders and servers give great recommendations and even offered to make my friend another drink because she didn't like the one she chose! Macondray's is a great neighborhood spot and I look forward to being back many, many more times!
This was my second time at Macondray and first time trying the food! Drinks here definitely don't disappoint - had the hot cider and a drink that tasted like pine from the holiday menu and we both loved them! Also wow - the soft pretzel was amazing! although the price was kind of steep for a pretzel essentially cant even be shared with 2 people without someone getting hangry... Sitting outside was also shockingly cozy even though it was a little cold - the heat lamps worked their magic! Still love sitting inside at the bar and chatting with the bartender I spoke to last time! Will be back soon :)
Came here during Santa Con so of course it was bustling and crowded but we were able to get drinks pretty quickly. They have great Christmas decor and festive holiday drinks but perhaps with the crowds, quality faltered a bit and we thought that while the drinks were quick heavy on the alcohol, most of them were a letdown given how exciting they sounded on the menu. I'll have to come back during a normal night and give it another try.
Dropped in during happy hour for some oysters and drinks! Cute decor with lots of greenery and a chill vibe. Great area for casual bar hopping. Would definitely come again!
Great place to grab a drink + bites with friends or a date! Drinks are ~$16 with a range of different options. Our group got the midnight mookie, perfect celebrity and huckleberry mule! The huckleberry mule was on the tart side and you could really taste the ginger which was yummy. If you love a good mule, this is a no-brainer. The perfect celebrity was also delicious! It was the perfect combo of smoky, sweet and spicy -- I'd probably order this next time for myself. The midnight mookie was a bit of a letdown since the hazelnut, coconut milk flavors were definitely not there? It tasted a bit like a watered down espresso martini. Was hoping it'd be a bit creamier too. We also ordered some tater tots & chicken tenders, both were so good! Loved the herb aioli & dipping sauces that came with both.
Fast friendly service Food was buttery and light, not at all like a pretzel Drink was like drinking juice. You don't taste an ounce of alcohol. Could be dangerous. I'll opt for wine next time. Very date night or catch up with friends vibes Apple Pay taken. Damage: $30 for one drink and one pretzel thank you!
Great place for happy hour and love the old timey feel of the place. Came here on a weeknight for the oysters deal, and they were good. I also couldn't resist a lobster roll, and that was so delicious and filling. Service was a bit slow that night though despite there only being two or three tables of people when we were there.
What an exceptional experience! The cocktails were unique, beautifully balanced, and full of flavor ~ absolute perfection. We ordered several small bites, each one delicious and perfectly paired with our drinks. Everything arrived warm and impressively fast. Despite being busy, the service was excellent ~ attentive, friendly, and professional. A true gem for anyone who appreciates craft cocktails and thoughtful food. Loved the ambiance! Very well designed. Recommend!
TL;DR: ok drinks, kinda expensive. Didn't try the food though. I had read a lot about this place and was excited to try, so I popped in one afternoon after lunch. Many reviews say the food is pretty good too but I was too full to order anything. The interior of the bar is very pretty, and has lots of nice hanging plants and a big bar. Service was friendly and quick. I ordered two drinks, one passion fruit cocktail and something else. They were... Fine. Considering how many great cocktail bars in the area, I was surprised that these were just moderately good with low complexity. They don't stand out to me knowing that there are many options out there. Prices are standard for SF, which means that the cocktails were kinda expensive. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back.

I visited Macondray's today after a hair appointment, and unfortunately it left a lot to be desired. We chose to sit outside, and when my friend went in to order drinks, the bartender, despite a less-than-full bar, didn't acknowledge her for nearly 10 minutes. No greeting, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. Outside, a woman adjusting one of the planters caught my attention. I asked if she worked there, she confirmed she did, with a frown, and then walked away without offering to take my order or even asking if we needed anything. Pouty expression and all. The staff seemed genuinely miserable, as if every moment there was a burden. We were happy to finish our one drink and go. First visit, last visit. If you're looking for sullen service and a staff that seems to resent being at work, Macondray's delivers. Otherwise, keep walking. read more

For a plant lover, there's no better place to grab a drink and some appetizers than Macondray. I live in the neighborhood, and this is usually where you'll find me on a weekend afternoon. The parklet makes a huge difference on a sunny day. The vibe is relaxed, and if you sit inside, all the plants really take it to the next level. read more

It was my first time here and I had a wonderful time with my dog Tigger at happy hour! Really cute inside and they also have a parklet outside on the street. Great cocktails and wonderful food, including $1.50 oysters at happy hour. The owner Aaron was fun, warm and welcoming, I'll be back! Support this local biz! read more

Friendly staff, attentive, cute bar downstairs, private room upstairs for private party. Food was pretty good...gotta love the old bay seasoned fries, the lobster roll bites, chicken tenders, tater tots, great for sharing and carving while drinking. Staff was pretty attentive in checking regularly for food & drink refills. Clean bathrooms! read more
Really enjoyed Macondray, stopped by with a few people around 5:50 on a Thursday. It was easy to get a table, and we were able to still sneak in an order for a dozen oysters with the happy hour special. We also ordered the fries, muscles, and lobster Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious, nice vibes and love all the plants! read more

Great place to get drinks, good for first date etc They have easy eats/happy hour bites so wouldn't go here if I'm craving a meal but the ambiance is nice and service is good read more
Great atmosphere. Loved all of the plants surrounding the space. We sat at the bar as all of the tables were full shortly after happy hour on a Friday. Hit me baby one more thyme was both of our favorites. The oysters were fresh and the toppings were flavorful. The oysters were great, I just expected the portion to be a little bigger but they were still delicious. Between two people we shared the fries, oysters, and mussels and were full. Will try and make it back for the 5-6 happy hour & dessert next time. read more

Came here on a Friday night with a friend! First of all, obsessed with this spot, this will be my new neighborhood bar, I 12/10 recommend. Note to explain. The staff was absolutely incredible, insanely attentive and kind. I guess they do more of like different servers fit the same table so we had different people coming to our table to assist us and all were just amazing. Our table was cleared up My the owner--my friend who brought me here knows the place and knows who the owner is. But I wouldn't have known. The owner was cool, chill and casual and super nice. I just got so many good vibes here, so I'm definitely coming back! I had the Shirley temple, it was delicious! Had two actually. To eat, we had the chicken tenders (wasn't too much of a fan of the spices), the fries (absolutely delicious), and the Mac and cheese (pretty good). Wish they had like wings or something as another easy meat option (the other meat options were more substantial than I had Room for). We unfortunately couldn't even finish the tenders. Okay I'm done now! Can't wait to be back read more
My husband were walking down the street and we randomly decided to pop into this place for a drink and snack. We were really happy we did! The food is delicious and this place was really great. Jake was our server and he was really nice! We really liked that every time we had a question about a drink he knew exactly how to answer it! He's also the bartender and he made us the best drinks! The next time we are around we will pop in for sure read more

Friendly hosts! Great food! Chill vibes! Good times! Drink and be Merry! :) I stopped by after work to Macondray to enjoy dinner with a friend. This is my second time here, and it was another pleasant experience. The staff here are pleasant and have a lot of fun energy. I live for the fries! They're nice and hot, and perfectly salted. The chicken tenders are my guilty pleasure in all of its breaded glory! The tenders come with 3 sauces: ranch, honey mustard, and ketchup. Both the fries and tenders I share with my friend, which is a pretty good bargain for the portion we received! I had the All An Allusion cocktail. Which is Vodka, tequila, orange, and melon seltzer. It was so good! Th triple A is garnished with 1 slice of lemon and lime, each. Thanks again Macondray. I shall return soon! read more
