Best thing about this place is the interior, but I was disappointed in the food. Service was decent. We came for happy hour from 5-6, discounts aren't too steep 3 dollars off regular price cocktails. I accidentally ordered an old fashioned margarita instead of a regular one, they were kind enough to remake. Hibiscus margarita was good but nothing to write home about. We had tacos and churros. The tortilla on the taco had good flavor but the filling was dry and uninspired. It was grilled chicken tacos and they were quite literally only grilled chicken. The churros were a tad overdone but not bad. I wouldn't come back here unless I needed quick drinks in the area. read more

Quick service and number of items on menu. We started off with chips and salsa and moved how thin and crispy the chips were. I got the ceviche and it was good, but probs should have gotten something hot since it was so cold. My partner got a steak quesadilla and loved it! Margaritas were good too! Stopped by for taco Tuesday even though we didn't end up getting tacos . You can get 2 tacos for $12 all day long. They also have a great happy hour deal on week days. I walked in with a friend at 6pm on Saturday night. It was just crowded enough to get a window indoor seat. Awesome. Happy hour on a Saturday so my friend got the tacos. I decided to get the kale salad. We shared the corn salsa-y with chips appetizer. Great service to take our order and give recommendations. Then our server left. Once we saw her again it was after we already asked someone else for a to go box. My salad definitely needed a knife to cut up the lettuce kale pieces. Came to check out the happy hour -Tacos - 3.5/5 - Pretty solid, the meat ratio was good and they were pretty juicy. The pineapple gives a nice boost of flavor and pickled veggies with the salsa kick it up a notch. I will say that the meat didn't taste savory enough, and was over powered by everything else in the taco. - The drinks here were pretty good, but pretty expensive for a happy hour menu. - The service here was nice, and the spot had a chill vibe to end the evening. The interior is great except I wish the high tables in the middle were regular height tables + the high ceiling and seating's proximity to the front door makes the restaurant a bit drafty / cold this time of year. The food here was actually really good, but the service completely ruined the experience. My friend forgot her ID and went home to get it. When she came back and showed it, the waitress started treating us like we were trying to scam her, insinuating we were sharing IDs. She even made me show mine just to "check" we weren't using the same one. It was awkward and unnecessary. Then my friend ordered a drink that tasted off, barely took a sip, and asked for a new one. I originally liked this place for the happy hour menu - but I recently decided to branch out and order their enchiladas, and maybe it was just an off day for them but it was a VERY sad excuse for an enchilada. We started with the chips and trio of salsas. I liked the range in spice level so everyone in our group found one that they liked. The chips were light and crispy yet sturdy enough to scoop up the salsa/. After perusing the menu, I settled on the Mezcalito Burger. I normally wouldn't order a burger at a Mexican restaurant, but the reviews were positive and it sounded delicious. Unfortunately, the burger as a whole was hindered by the very undercooked angus beef patty. In hindsight, I should have sent it back. The smoked Gouda cheese and the caramelized onions did a decent job of offsetting the undercooked beef. I didn't pick up on the mustard aioli, but there were a lot of flavors at play. The fluffy potato bun held all of the sandwich's contents together well. The side of fries were crispy and golden brown -- a great accompaniment to the burger. Although the food fell short of expectations, the drinks were great -- I had a Spicy Paloma and the Hard Watermelon Fresca, both were very tasty. The service was decent but nothing above average, although I did like the upscale, modern interior. I'm not sure I'll rush back here, but I would be willing to explore more of the menu. read more

Might I say this place has the best tacos and mezcal in SF? The only other place I enjoyed fancy tacos like this was Tulum (I'm a street taco gal). We got THREE pitchers of the mezcal and really had ourselves a night (lol). Wasn't overly Smokey and I loved that they bring out the glasses with the rims dressed for you! It's the details, baby! Came to Mezcalito for happy hour on a Tuesday and sat outside. Our waiter Beau was very friendly and gave nice suggestions. We just wanted to stop in for a snack and shared the guac and chips ($13) and tacos al pastor ($12 during happy hour). The tacos were filled with meat and super flavorful and our waiter informed us that everything was made from scratch down to the tortillas! Awesome! I do wish that the guac wasn't so expensive and was offered on the happy hour menu but regardless it was good. I ended up cancelling the res (with plenty of notice) and they charged me a $40 fee... Cozy modern bar vibes and great food! We were wandering around Polk street when we passed by this cute Mexican restaurant. My favorite thing was by far the ceviche! It was so flavorful and plenty of fish chunks. However, I wish there were a few more tortilla chips. I had never heard of sopes and decided to give it a try. However, it wasn't quite my cup of tea. The filling was a little dry and the crust wasn't very crispy. My friends got the enchilada plate and burger which were scrumptious (and great portion size!). Cute place on polk with good indoor and outdoor space. It is dog friendly outside and well equipped with outdoor heaters. Food was delicious, service was alright and ambiance was cute. Mezcalito has amazing drinks, food, service and ambience. I had a passion fruit margarita along with a cucumber drink -- both were extremely good. I also had their guacamole which was extremely fresh and tasty along with some salsas which were very fresh and spicy just like I wanted them. I also had their shrimp tacos which were to die for. Our server, I believe his name was Kenji, was extremely attentive and the service was amazing. The outdoor patio we were sitting in was so cute with lights and heaters. I was not cold at all despite it being a cold night. The music inside was amazing and well curated. Overall the vibes were amazing this will definitely be my go to Mexican spot for good food, drinks and vibes. read more

Came here with my friend on a busy Friday night with high expectations since of all the restaurants on this street, Mezcalito was the one popping off the most! It was only a 10 minute wait for a party of 2. We ordered the surf and turf tacos, pork quesadilla, taquitos de res, and some of their namesake mezcal cocktails. Overall, everything was delicious - even the drinks were very unique and not as alcoholic as I thought they be. The reason I would have to knock down a star is because the service is extremely spotty. It took us forever to flag down one of the wait staff to even get our water and take our orders. Throughout the meal experience, none of the wait staff even came up to check in on us. I do get that it was a busy Friday night, but being completely ignored was very frustrating. Overall, the décor of the place is so cool; the giant bar area with all the liquors is quite aesthetically pleasing and the vibes are very energetic.
