Luckily the tinis here did not disappoint! They were heavy on the coffee with a slight sweetness that wasn't overpowering at all, the perfect tini in my book. We came on a Tuesday night, which happened to have happy hour all night and oyster specials at $2/per. We got a round of oysters for the table, and they were a big hit. When you're first stop is at Wilder, you know you're in for a good night. Came in with a crew for espresso martinis and light apps. We were rolling deep with 9 of us, so luckily we were able to reserve a table for all of us ahead of time. I love an espresso martini and they really know how to do it up here! Topped with gold dusted espresso beans and the perfect amount of depth and sweetness. I flew into San Fran earlier this day and the caffeine boost was exactly what I needed to start off the night strong. For bites we got the baked goat cheese and oysters. These bites were definitely made to share -- it was so easy to put the plates in the middle of the table and have everyone grab what they wanted. I'm still getting over an oyster aversion but loved the goat cheese with some yummy bread. Went for dinner on a Friday around 7 PM and were seated right away, no wait for a table of three. We had originally planned to go elsewhere, but with an hour-long wait there, we ended up at Wilder--and I'm glad we did. I ordered the Wildest Burger, and it was incredible. The combination of the burger patty, mortadella, braised pork belly, and American cheese was spot on. Instead of fries, I opted for a side Caesar salad, which had just the right amount of dressing but could have been a little colder. Service was great, too. Most of these reviews are about the drinks so I'll give one about the food. I tried several things. I'm not usually a fan of Brussel sprouts, but I wanted the calamari, so I got the sprouts and Calamari and it was so good! The Calamari is cooked perfectly and the sprouts were very flavorful. For the main dish we had the pork chop and apple sauce and the Bolognese. That pomegranate reduction was heavenly. The highlight however, is the Bolognese. I've never been to a restaurant and believed that the noodles were actually handmade. I've tried Bolognese very often and always been disappointed. I wanted to eat this stuff by the bucket. Great place for a weekend happy hour! We got the spritz tower (5 spritz for 45 dollars!). The steamed pork belly buns, fries and wings are great! The crab avocado toast was delicious and definitely a highlight for me - a 10/10. The blueberry ricotta pancakes were a bit on the sweeter side, but I still enjoyed it. The fruit was also very fresh - a 8/10. My friend and I also both each got froses, which come in the cutest bear cups! It was a bit more alcoholic than I expected, but still very good! The ambiance is also nice, and the bathrooms as well as the interior are all decorated very beautifully! I really liked the style. Parking here is difficult but it's worth it for the Wilder Espresso martini! ~ FOOD ~ The drinks here are great and they're known for their coffee martini but their food is lacking flavor. Their salad tasted like it had no vinaigrette. The vegetable curry was tasteless which is surprising for curry. The bao buns were the only tasty thing here. This is the best place for outdoor drinks because it's not nearly as crowded as Balboa, but has better service and vibes. Their happy hour deals are phenomenal! Highly recommend checking the times and menus and coming with a group of friends. Brunch food was okay, definitely not amazing but the prices are fantastic and the servings are hefty. It was happy hour (I think it goes until 6:30 PM on weekends) so the drink was only $9! Talk about throwback pricing The drink was good and the bartender was super nice. During September, it's this gin/passionfruit/piña colada/ginger beer esque drink that's not too sweet but also not too tart. Once my friend got there, we ordered espresso martinis. It was a good martini to me, included the 3 beans, and wasn't too sweet or overly espresso tasting. I wasn't that hungry so I got the happy hour croquet. I didn't know what to except but it was tasty and exceeded my expectations. Id definitely get this again during happy hour! My friend enjoyed her burger Service was great. Playlist was interesting in a good way. I think I overheard that they were using a Spotify playlist but some of the songs were skipped which kind of threw the vibe off at times (but in a very minor way). Such a diverse menu, and unique combination of ingredients for each dish. We went with the rib-eye steak which was cooked perfectly and served with nicely seasoned veggies and fresh salad on request. We also got the short rib's mac & cheese, the shredded braised beef so flavorful and the macaroni smothered in thick and creamy cheese and bechamel sauce. The watermelon margarita was strong and delicious, a perfect complement to my meal. The restaurant was noisy inside like a typical busy restaurant, the staff did offer to seat us somewhere quieter, but it was fine. There was also a nice outdoor patio available. We came to Wilder when the place across the street had a long wait and made it just in time before the brunch kitchen closed. Our server was very friendly and attentive, checking on us as some of our party arrived later than others and super accommodating. I had my solo brunch date here at Wilder, a sister venue of Westwood about a block away. I don't normally brunch on the weekends, so I thought it would be nice to check this place out. Thank you to the owner for accommodating me! The hostess was very welcoming and sat me immediately. The server was also friendly! The restaurant did get much busier throughout the hour since it was peak busy hours. I noticed this restaurant is great for big to small groups, or soloing, maybe not for families though with little kids. Although for next time when I dine in alone, I'd choose to eat at the bar! :) I don't mind bar seating at all. The brunch menu has a nice selection to choose from, such as savory to sweet dishes. The alcoholic beverage & cocktail menu is huge! They have happy hour available, so mimosas are $5! I needed something a little sweet and bubbly, so I ordered a strawberry mimosa. Although I ordered the Shakshuka, I would love to try the Whiskey French Toast. My order: Strawberry mimosa 4/5 - sweet & bubbly- have to give the glass a swirl after a while, so the alcohol doesn't sit at the bottom. Shakshuka 4/5 - it would be better if they provided more pesto bread slices with the dish! It was good to eat for the cold weather :) Traditional Affogato 4/5 - maybe with just the espresso shot would be better, instead of both kahlua & espresso. I liked the crunchy cone! Came here for dinner time. We got seated outside where there was a heater above our table, which was very necessary with the cold weather. I got the poke bowl and shared the cauliflower appetizer with the table. Poke was so flavorful & came with a few wonton and crips chips (always a great add on to a poke bowl for texture yes!!!). They had the option of 2 breakfast items for $25- most of which typically run for around $17 ea. They also had $5 mimosas with a few flavor options which is a great deal too! The place itself it also warm, comfortable , they play Sunday football on the TV's, and well kept. The service was a little on the slower side as far as taking orders but the food was relatively out in a timely manner. I ordered the breakfast burrito which was good but could've used a little more flavor or atleast better salsa- the salsa was so bland. Additionally my tortilla wasn't really cooked and the warm ingredients made it a little mushy- wish they had put it on the griddle for a quick minute. We arrived 5 minutes before Happy Hour ended and were surprised to have the HH menu offered to us and super grateful. Both times the portions were massive. Happy Hour menu is the same portion of food and drinks, just heavily discounted. My favorite drinks were the Refresher (no longer on the menu) and the Road Runner, dangerously delicious. My friend and I were satisfied with just three items on the HH menu, probably could've squeezed in a dessert. Both the French toast and the BLT are reasons I would go back, and it costs $25 total for restaurant week (such a good deal)! It's in a very nice area in SF so plenty of streets nearby to just walk around. Wilder is a hidden gem which offers brunch/lunch, dinner, and drinks. We came for brunch around 11AM on a Saturday and surprisingly had no wait. The whisky glazed French toast had the right amount of whisky without being too overpowering. The brioche toast was light and pillowy, a dish that can't be faulted. The shakshuka was a tasty and hearty dish which paired well with the pesto toast. Don't hesitate to ask the server for more pesto toast because two slices was not enough!
