Arbor is such a delicious burger, quick serve restaurant spot in Hayes Valley. I stumbled upon it exploring the area in SF, and it did not disappoint. From the kind workers, to the amazing, juicy, flavorful burgers, to the cute restaurant, Arbor does it all right! My family and opted to sit outside, which was perfect on a beautiful SF day. Large portions were perfect for sharing, too. However, I could have eaten all the fries myself!
Large menu of burgers, salads, sandwiches, fries and so much more!!! The freshest ingredients and made to order exactly as requested!! Fast, friendliest service. The large burger was so juicy and the curly fries were perfection!! Plenty of seating indoors and out with a back patio as well as front.
Arbor never disappoints - the food is consistently fantastic and the service is always great. We love the backyard seating with heaters, which makes it comfortable year-round, and sometimes there's live music that adds a really nice touch to the evening. It's also super convenient to order by scanning the QR code at the table. Another great perk: the wine shop next door, so you can grab a bottle from them or order straight from Arbor's own list. Highly recommend for a relaxed, delicious meal with a great atmosphere in San Francisco!
Had to order to go tonight and honestly, the food hit. The fish filet sandwich was delicious, had a good crunch and it was tender, with great flavor. The real standout for me though was the mac & cheese packed with flavor, rich and comforting. Kisses to the chef. The curly fries were well seasoned and very tasty definitely enjoyable and satisfying. The burger, on the other hand, was the only letdown for me. It was a bit bland and leaned salty and could've used more seasoning or sauce to really bring it together. It just needed a little more love compared to the rest of the food. That said, if you're looking for a quick and satisfying dinner, this is still a solid spot especially for the fish filet sandwich, mac & cheese and fries.
I remember this place when it was Arlequin. Same great fast casual vibe with lots of seating, indoor and outside. Really love the no-fuss approach of ordering at the counter, but still getting a nice ambiance that is far from fast food. Mac & Cheese: Wanted a light, but indulgent, lunch and this hit the spot. Comes out on a hot iron skillet in a thin later of mac with tons of cheese gratinéed on top. Seemed like high quality cheese too, since it had a complex flavor profile. Fried Chicken Sandwich: Seemed to be one of the most popular items here. Must have been made from scratch to order, since the batter was so crispy and fresh, it couldn't have been re-fried. Seems to be a long and thin chicken thigh. Not that flavorful in the solo bites sticking outside the sandwich, but delicious with sauces and slaw. The sauce had a nice spicy tang to it. Curly Fries: Such a fun and nostalgic side. I especially like the tight coils, which have the best texture. Nice spices on the outside. The ketchup kinda tasted homemade, with a strong yummy vinegar edge.
The fish tacos were delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. The Niçoise salad wasn't quite what I expected, but it was still enjoyable. Overall, the food felt a bit mediocre for the price point. That said, the service was friendly and efficient, and our food came out quickly. The outdoor patio is absolutely lovely on a nice day and really adds to the overall experience.
Casual dining spot. Order at the counter and head back to the picturesque backyard and grab a table (or sit inside. I got the Arbor cheeseburger with curly fries and they were both very good. Pics of the menu on Yelp show that the cheeseburger didn't used to include bacon, but it does now! The burger also has lettuce, pickles (I got on the side), sherry-chili onions and Arbor sauce (kind of like thousand Island). I can't say enough about the patio. I didn't take any pictures, but it was perfect for a meal or even just a drink. Dogs are allowed too.
Been here a few times now. Arlequin wine merchants is attached on the side where we got our bottle of orange wine. They have good recs, but there is a $10 corkage fee (which I think they waive on Mondays). The outdoor patio is the biggest selling point here, with lovely trees overlooking the tables and providing some nice shade dappled with sunshine. The burger is a bit on the pinker side, so I'd recommend well done if that's something you care about. The curly fries and Mac n cheese were my favorite, with the Mac being a bit smokier. Also fyi the kids burger is the same size as the adult one, it just doesn't have all the fixings!
My group and I walked in close to closing, but the staff were super nice about it. I thoroughly enjoyed my cheeseburger (although it is on the pricier side). The serving of side fries was very generous and tasty. We didn't get a chance to check out the outdoor patio, but I would definitely come back next time!
Stopped on our way to a Sketchfest show. There was a bit of a line to order, but it went quickly. I ordered the falafel burger and a beer. The burger was excellent - perfect crunch on the outside, moist inside. Plenty of toppings. It was a bit messy, though, and I ended up using my fork. I was glad to see they had local beer on draft, though the selection wasn't great. The patio in the back is magical - very pretty at night and there's music Thurs, Fri, and Sat. Only saw one mouse. Would eat here again for sure.
Arbor is comfort food done well with the cutest patio you'll find anywhere. String lights and heaters and amazing electric lanterns in the landscape mean this patio - which we visited during the day - must be lovely in the evening too. I enjoyed my Baked Mac N Cheese which was so good with its rich Cheddar Pimenton Sauce. Its finish in the broiler seriously activated the perfectly crunchy breadcrumb topping but wow that cast iron skillet was really hot when the server brought the dish to our table. My wife's beautiful fried Fish Fillet Sandwich looked good but wasn't quite as tasty as it was pretty. The fish maybe tasted a little funky and oddly sweet. I think next time she'll pivot to the similarly appointed fried chicken sandwich instead. All good though - the awesome Seasoned Curly Fries were the star of her plate and were epic in their own right. Nice lunch.

I ordered the seasonal butternut squash soup and really liked it. The portion is a bit small but it is a small plate item so not shocking. They were playing a cool country playlist when I was there and I really rocked with it. The service was also great and the food presentation was really pretty.
I have visited Arbor for lunch twice so far. During my first visit, I ordered a Cobb Salad to go, and on my second visit, I enjoyed my meal on their back patio, where I had a Vegan Burger and Seasoned Curly Fries. I really enjoyed the Cobb Salad. It contained grilled chicken, bacon, blue cheese, cherry tomatoes, avocado, and egg, all in perfect proportions. It was fresh and filling. Trying a vegan burger was a first for me. I saw it on the menu and decided to give it a try. It was quite good; the bean and seed patty was well-prepared, and the guacamole and roasted garlic tahini added delightful flavor. The vegan bun was fresh and just right. While I liked the vegan burger, I realized that I prefer traditional burgers. The service was excellent. On our second visit, my wife, who is particular about her orders, had a few questions. The gentleman behind the counter made sure to answer all her questions, even going back to the chef for clarification when needed. There is counter and table seating inside the restaurant, as well as tables outside in front of the restaurant and on the back patio. The inside seating is comfortable, but the patio is a treat, especially on a nice day. read more
A girlfriend recommended Arbor as a girls night for us. Neither of us being incredibly hungry decided on Falafel Hummus plate to share. If we were hungry we could always order more. With a bottle of wine from next door - Arlequin Wine - and our hummus plate, we made out to the outdoor patio. The patio is spacious and well kept with plenty of seating and enough space between tables conversations can be had privately. The Seeded Falafel and Hummus Bowl ($18) was truly satisfying for us both. The four crunchy falafel balls (think golf sized), freshly sliced cucumbers, grilled red bell pepper accompanied by roasted zucchini and yellow squash with a creamy, flavorful hummus made for a meal on its own. Between the both of us, the dish was incredibly delicious along with a bottle of red. Neither of us left hungry or wanting more. We began our lunch meet around 3:30p and did not depart until about 7p-ish. The staff was incredibly accommodating, friendly and assisted with carrying our dish to the selected table. I would definitely return for the same order or try something new. The menu offers a variety of options to fulfill different dietary needs. There is indoor seating available, on a beautiful SF day who would want to stay indoors - not me! read more

Wandered in after realizing a bit too late that Lers Ros closes between 2:00-5:00 and I am so happy I did! I'm not being hyperbolic when I say this might be the best salad I've ever tasted. Four lightly charred, plump honey butter shrimp over tender field greens and with lots of fresh English peas (hooray for Spring!) with a bit of crunch from shaved carrots, purple asparagus, and watermelon radish. Perfectly dressed with a lemony sweet pea hummus. Paired perfectly with a wine-based "Negroni." Loved sitting under a mature willow tree on the beautiful and beautiful spacious garden patio. Got my eye on the lobster bisque for my next visit read more

SCAMMY: They charge a 12% TAX, on top of the 5% "SF Mandate" (which we know is not a mandate) and then expect a tip on top of that. I don't think most people realize this is why they felt like their food was so expensive for their portion. I love the patio, I wish I could patron them again but this is outrageous and scammy to OVERCHARGE on TAX. read more

I've been both a regular dine-in customer and frequent take-out patron here so much that one of the staff even knew me by name. Unfortunately, over time I've noticed a decline in food quality, customer service, and portion sizes. For a long while, the staff were warm and friendly, but something changed. One day, I was met with glares instead of smiles, and on another visit, a staff member sighed loudly and rolled his eyes when I approached the register. I hoped it was just an off day, but the cold reception has continued. Needless to say, I don't visit nearly as often anymore, who wants to pay to be treated poorly? I wish they would address whatever problem they have with me directly. Recently, I learned that the son of an important donor at my workplace owns this restaurant. I'm considering reaching out to him directly to share my experience as it may be worth bringing this to his attention. They need to get rid of the mice infestation in the back patio. read more
Such a cute place! The burger was very tasty, good portion including fries ($4 added). My cousin got the vegan burger which was falafel, she said it was good but she's had better ones. The outdoor areas were very nice, well shaded, and spaced out. You pay at the front when you walk in and the servers bring your food over to you. It was a 4* overall but I upgraded it to 5 because the owner and staff were nice. - Curly fries: the reason I went there. It was good, generous portion. They put harissa into the ketchup. I liked it - Grilled honey shrimp: the dressing was a little too tart but it was offset by the sweetness from grilled grape and creaminess of white bean puree. I love the salad. 4.7/5. Would be a perfect salad for me if it was less tangy. - Fish sandwich: freshly fried, crispy fish on the housemafe brioche with some slaw. The bun was dry. The sauce wasn't prominent enough. I will skip this next time. - Sourdough IPA was fruity, very good. The restaurant is suitable to bring kids. I also saw group of people drinking from the wine shop next door. read more
Awesome back patio, it gets packed on a sunny day, but the inside is nice as well. Great wine selection obviously, being connected to the wine shop, and they do have happy hour certain days. We weren't there on one of those days unfortunately! Order at the front and they will deliver the food as it is made. The menu is great, interesting flavors and feels pretty healthy with something for everyone. Believe they change up the menu items/ingredients a bit seasonally. I absolutely loved the grilled shrimp bowl and could probably eat that every day. My partner got the falafel bowl, and we shared a side of fried chicken. You know, for the protein! We enjoyed everything we ate and would definitely come back for food and wine. It did take a while for the food to all come out though and we were getting a little nervous as we had to head to the theater. Hence no pic of chicken - we ate it quickly. And since it is delivered as it is made, I had pretty much finished my food by the time my partner's dish came out, and I'm a pretty slow eater. But everything is hot and fresh! Something to keep in mind if on a time crunch, but we still made it to the theatre fine. read more

Service was quick, the food was delicious, the chicken was crispy and had a slight sweet flavor. We sat in the patio and everything was very clean and there is no direct sun so it wasn't too hot or cold. The water is self serve. The curly fries were also seasoned perfectly. I work in the Civic Center Area and Arbor is one of my favorite spots for lunch. Arbor is a casual dining restaurant, as you order at the counter and food is delivered to your table or you can order takeout. Their outdoor area is really lovely, with lots of greenery and bistro tables. This is a great place for lunch when the weather is nice in SF. To me, it feels like an oasis in the middle of a long workday. The menu is thoughtful and food is quite good. My favorite dish is the Grilled Honey Garlic Butter Shrimp salad, with shrimp, kale, arugula, fennel, butter bean purée, roasted mushrooms, grapes, and a lemon vinaigrette. The salad is satisfying, flavorful, and perfectly dressed. I've had a couple of the other salads and tried the seasoned curly fries too (yum!), but I keep coming back to this salad time and again. The last time I came to visit, my friend had the burger and fries which she really seemed to enjoy. Another thing I appreciate about Arbor (as someone who is dairy intolerant) is that they have dairy-free soft serve ice cream options for dessert! Overall, Arbor is a great little spot in Hayes Valley worth checking out. read more
Truth is, I think about this fish sandwich more than I'd like to admit... ambiance of the restaurant is very good back porch area is great for meeting or just reading, perhaps even doing work. Service brings food to you which makes it worthy of a reasonable tip. But damn, that fish sandwich... soo good... read more
Lovely restaurant with a beautiful, romantic garden in the back. The garden is large, with about fifteen tables, including some for big groups of six. There are many heaters, though not quite one heater per table. There's also a public parklet outside the restaurant where anyone can sit, even if you don't order anything. If you are sitting in the garden, you can order and pay on your phone by scanning the QR code. They have carafes available with water, self-serve. You order at the counter if you are sitting inside. Relaxed, cozy, casual atmosphere where you can feel comfortable sitting and chatting and not worry about needing to give up your table. Great wine selection as well. The food was good! I got the chili cheese curly fries. They were surprisingly crunchy, which curly fries often aren't. Despite being a "small plate" it was a very large portion, definitely enough to share. I think I would prefer just the fries without the chili cheese part next time. I would also be interested to try their eggplant gratin and the mac & cheese. read more
Arbor has one of the cutest backyard patios imo! On a nice day, it definitely takes the dining experience up a notch because it's super serene with all the plants and shade. I usually order the garlic butter shrimp salad that's full of seasonal veggies! I've been wanting to try the burger next with some curly fries. UPDATE: FYI, just saw a mouse in the backyard patio area. T.T Apparently this is a common sight here. Eek! read more
Ordered Friday night take-out from Arbor. Ordered the Arbor cheeseburger $17 with curly fries and the spring salad with shrimp $22. The burger was huge stuffed with Niman Ranch 6oz grass-fed beef, cheddar cheese, pickles, bacon, sherry chili-onion, lettuce, Arbor sauce. The spring salad consists of Grilled honey butter shrimp, arugula + mustard greens, Spring vegetables, herby Spring pea hummus, lemon vinaigrette. Portion size was good, large sized, fresh, flavors on point. The only thing they need to fix is updating the status of the online order. I went to pick up at the stated time of 3pm and the website still shows "order confirmed" not ready for pick up. I called twice to check the status of it but would ring and ring and no one picks up the phone. BUT, the order was packed and ready when I got there! read more

Liked it so much I came back twice! I had no idea this little burger storefront would open up to a beautiful backyard patio lined with trees. The ambiance is unmatched and the food is the cherry on top. We bought a bottle of wine from the attached wine merchant and ordered some bites. I highly recommend the cookie and falafel salad. Pass on the strawberry gazpacho unless you love gazpacho. Can't wait to come back!! read more
I was recommended to try this spot a few months ago by an old colleague. I am glad I finally decided to try! Immediately when I walked in I was greeted by a nice staff member and once I ordered the food came out super quick. I loved the ambiance the restaurant had, especially the back outdoor space. It was very open and I recommend sitting here if you're with a group of people and want to enjoy the nice weather sf has to offer. The fish sandwich was pretty good I give it a 4/5. I recommend getting a side of tartar sauce for the sandwich as it needed a little more flavor but I will say it was fried very well. Other than that the curly fries made up for it! I'll be back to try something else. read more
A nice lunch spot with plenty of natural light and outdoor seating including the back. Friendly and fast service--food came out quickly. Ordered the mac and cheese with a side salad. Only critique would be they need to step up their sauce game with the mac and cheese sauce, it was a little lacking in flavor, but overall a solid experience. read more

Cute and casual place to grab a bite to eat! You order and pay up front and then go seat yourself and a server will bring your food to you. I got a chicken sandwich and it was definitely filling and yummy!! The inside of the restaurant is super cute and staff is friendly. I believe they have outdoor seating in the back but unfortunately the weather wasn't too good the day I went so it was closed. Hoping to drop by on a better day and check the outside out! read more

Not that I could see! The restaurant was packed on Sunday after noon on February 16th. Everyone was happy and enjoying themselves!
