The burgers and fries here are good, but not worth it for the vibe and ambiance. I didn't love the lack of service, as we were directed to scan a QR code and just order from our phones. energy--I give it five stars for pure neighborhood awesomeness. Everything I've had there has been yummy, with a tropical, laid-back feel. As you enter the building, every room becomes slightly dimmer, gradually transforming the place from tropical paradise to dive bar scenery. The food, though, was pretty mediocre. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich and Fries and just by the looks of it, it already doesn't seem too spectacular. The taste of both were above decent, BUT the price point was a little bit too high for me. The portion size definitely on the smaller side. I did appreciate that these dishes were freshly made - the burger and its juices were steaming hot! They have excellent customer service. We came in during a Trivia Night and it was free to join. The game was very casual, yet entertaining to see the competitive groups. Not sure what the prize was, but it definitely added to the dining experience. I stopped by with my coworker to grab some happy hour before meeting with the others. She lives in the marina and I found this place on Yelp. I was mainly looking for a happy hour menu with lots of choices. When we stopped by around 5pm on a Thursday, it was very open. There were plenty of seats in the patio and indoors as well. They have QR codes on the table and you order via your phone and they bring it out to you afterwards. It's open seating so wherever you wanted to sit, you just find a table and do so. I ordered the guava mojito with casamigos blanco ($8 base, $3 for the choice of alcohol), spiced fries ($4) and sesame chicken wings ($14) to share. My friend ordered the mother clucker sandwich ($13) and Palm house slushy with mango ($10+ additional for the mango). The guava mojito was freshing and was very easy to drink. The alcohol was in there but the guava made it so refreshing that you almost couldn't tell. The spiced fries were good, I wouldn't say they were super special but just a classic. The wings, let me tell you was to die for!! The wings had the gochujang glaze with sesame and green onion. It came with a side of pickled cucumbers and a coconut ranch dipping sauce. The flavors of the glaze was on point, and it wasn't too sticky but you definitely want to make sure you don't let the glaze go to waste. The coconut ranch had some essences of dill in it from what it seemed. It provided a calming sauce to highlight the gochujang flavor. The pickled cucumbers helps cleanse the palette between bites. My coworker said she really enjoyed her drink and food. The drink was strong according to her and the chicken sandwich was deliciously crispy and flavorful! FYI, they automatically apply a 5.5% surge charge on your bill. So be mindful of that before you tip. They also automatically elect the 20% tip when you are about to pay. You can alter your tip at the end when you pay on your phone as well. Overall, the place was very aesthetically pleasing to the eye, had a convenient ordering system, yummy food and drinks and seemed like a nice place to meet up with friends or even date night. Review is strictly for the smash burger and eaten via delivery. Picture was very promising, but was an expectation vs. reality situation. Burger was dry as hell and kind of gritty, would not classify as "smash" and very much a formed/rounded burger with uniform edges...almost as if previously frozen? There really is no service here. It's been several years since I was here and it's become pretty much self serve. All of the inside tables were reserved for their trivia night. No one helped us find a table so we pushed two small tables together outside for our party of 4. We ordered and paid using a QR code. There was a carafe of water on the table to serve ourselves. Great, friendly and fast service. Food was decent, especially for the price, but not outstanding (once again it is price appropriate hence the 4v3 stars). I especially didn't like the way the soy sauce was added to the poke, it tasted like it was added directly to the fish in such a quantity that's all you tasted. Besides that though the drinks were good and I can't stress again how great the service was. Definite bonus points for how well the QR code ordering system works. My friend wanted to try this place. I had the mother clucker chicken sandwich, coconut popcorn shrimp, and the prickly pear mimosa. We shared the naughty fries appetizer. The chicken sandwich doesn't come with fries or a side. I think according to the menu only the burger does? It was one if the only sandwiches that mentioned fries. So know that if it doesn't mention fries or a side then it doesn't come with it. The mother clucker sandwich was delicious and cooked just right. It was tasty and you could tell they did the spicy breading fresh themselves. But its price with no fries or side? For that price it should come with fries. Maybe have an option to add it or make it a combo since just the sandwich alone isn't filling enough. If they didn't just solely rely on scanning and ordering from a QR code, and a waitress checked in on you or provided service, you could clarify these things versus finding out once getting your food. To me if the food is good and if what I ordered is brought out to me in an reasonable amount of time, I'm not big on service or how attentive they are. I could care less. But I was sitting there with nothing just waiting for a long time. My friend luckily put in her order shortly before me and got her food, her cocktail, and our naughty fries appetizer to share pretty quickly. Idk what happened when I placed my order right after she got all hers. That big party came in well after I had put in my order too. If they were being prioritized due to spending more I know the tip for a party of 6 or more will be automatic anyway. Other than that there weren't very many customers overall in the restaurant. My friend and I tipped lower but honestly that didn't deserve a tip at all. When no service is being provided and they're not bringing you what you ordered once ready at the minimum. Service was pretty good--friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We ordered two plates of huevos rancheros and a starter of coconut shrimp. They were hearty and perfectly prepared. Been to Palm House a few times for a quick drink with friends! Drinks are typically good and the atmosphere is fun depending on the day and time. The last time I came here was okay.. they were really busy inside where the bar is in the middle of the day on a weekend so it makes sense that this might've not been a 10/10 experience. I really like the smash burgers here and decided to get a drink to go with my food - our food came out and I still hadn't received my drink which was kind of odd. The server let me know they didn't have some of the ingredients for my drink and that they could get me another drink. The Mai Tai I ended up getting tasted like watered down rum which is weird because normally the drinks here are good! Decided to try out Palm House for brunch after a day of reorganizing. The staff is very friendly and timely. Constantly check-in on you, and refill anything you need such as water. The ordering is super easy, scan the QR code at your table, add items to your tab, place and pay. Done. There is seating inside and outside. Heaters outside in the patio so it doesn't feel cold to be outside. Total time that we waited for our food was probably like 10-15mins MAX. We got some drinks as well which were refreshing and delicious. I got the POG mimosa and my friend got the prickly pear mimosa.
