    Pink panther $16 March 2026
    Lizzie S.

Great cocktails and live jazz! Their menu changes seasonally every few months. I love their cocktails. Recently, they had a floral and fruit section. I thoroughly enjoyed my Pink Panther cocktail (peaches, fresh citrus, aperol, and vodka.) The ambiance is giving dark academia--love the bookshelves, elevated platforms, and lush leather couches. Every now and then, the lights tim (good for dates), but there's also plenty of girls' groups and guys' nights out here. There's a fun pool table in the back (need to pay to use.) It's nicer than the pool tables at most bars I've been to in SF. Service is pretty good, depending on who's there.

Absolutely disgusting. It was 1:48AM and the security guard and 1 of the bartenders were disgustingly disrespectful saying that is was 2AM and we needed to leave our drinks as is and leave. There were multiple people still in the bar and we told them we would finish our drink and be out by 2AM, the security guard then proceeded to try and take a video of picture of us. Absolutely DISGUSTING.

Aged Negroni $15, using rye-based aged gin.

They have live jazz nightly; the first set is from 9:30pm to 10:15pm. The crowd is typical Marina: More like a frat party and less like a jazz bar. The crowd was noisy, but you could still hear the band, which was good. I had one drink: - 4.5: Aged Classic Negroni. It uses rye-based barrel aged gin; the cocktail itself is not aged. It's pretty good.

I love the vibes here. Super cute, dark and comfy furniture. I also love the drinks. All the ones I've tried have been tasty and strong! Just the way i like it :) service is fine, you have to order at the bar. Bartender was nice.

Loved this place. Great for lounging. Try their Negroni. It's their own take, not the usual white Negroni, and it's really good.

It's a fun spot. The staff behind the bar gets overwhelmed with people, saw 4 people leave cause no one took their order. The card system on the other hand, what a dumb system. They keep ur card if you want to keep the tap open. The guy ended up giving me my card AND another persons card. I did not notice until i was 2 blocks down. Almost broke the card and threw it away. But i ended up walking back and giving it to them. Super unprofessional, and saw a girl describing her card color cause they cant find it. Have been to bigger and busier places, they can be more efficient when it comes to that. Pretty clean over all. You can barely hear the music when busy. Band Feels pointless.

Sleek, sophisticated bar/lounge in the Marina with soft, sexy lighting & several seating areas. They have a pool table area which is $32 per hour. Live jazz band starts at 9PM. I usually prefer to sit at the bar & we arrived around 8:30 & there was a lot of seating available because there were other events going on (Pride Weekend) because they're usually pretty busy. I've had their mojitos & champagne cocktails before but wasn't sure when I was in the mood for so the bartender suggested a classic Cosmopolitan. He whipped it up while my date was deciding on his drink & it was excellent. My date ordered a whiskey & honey cocktail (forgot what it was called) & he liked it. Cocktails are strong & tasty but a little pricey but this is a higher end place.

Promising replacement to Green + Greenough. Very eclectic decoration, friendly staff and spacious pool table area. The staff was very friendly and helpful, I believe our servers name was Megan? Drinks are not cheap but consistent with high end establishments in the area. They're open Monday - Friday from 5 pm and have live jazz performances nightly which is a huge addition to the neighborhood consisting of mostly restaurants and bars. Their cocktail menu is very original and creative. Once the band arrives it's quite loud so private conversations become pretty tough. The only piece that grinder my gears was that to use the pool table you're charged something like $8 per FIFTEEN minutes which is obscene.

Checked this bar out while in the area. When we arrived there was barely anyone there but after an hr it was packed. There's a nice comfy seating area and in the back is a pool table with high top tables and seating. Waitress was attentive and bartenders were pretty quick with drinks. Cocktails were fairly standard in options. Drinks were well balanced and tasted good. I had the spicy margarita, vodka gimlet, and we tried the espresso martini and Manhattan. After sitting for awhile, live music started and was nice to listen to. It was nice to check out a new bar and roam the area.

In my opinion the bars in the Marina are a hit or miss. This one's a hit - the ambience inside is warm and welcoming. Been here multiple times and even when it's busy, the staff is just as attentive. Some nights they play jazz music and it gets super packed. I gotta say that their espresso martini here is probably top 3 in the city.

I like it, it's a nice bar. Service is good and they have a 9ft pool table in the back. Great place to wait for a table next door.

This place is sooo fun! The people & staff are nice. They have live bands playing on certain days. Drinks are good & just the right amount of alcohol. The bathroom is clean & pretty. After 2 drinks & a game, total was around $30.

They had some splashes of Harry Potter elements, but nonetheless, a very fun and unique spot to check out! My bestie made reservation for us for lunch this past Sunday. I mentioned to her about this place, and she made the reservation online. We both had no idea that there was a drag show. We were both pleasantly surprised! It's definitely very much a bonus to the whole experience! Upon walking in, we were greeted by the hostess and gave a few options for seating. We chose the high table near the ramp. There were a few tables there with one being a big group that celebrating a birthday. They were all wearing wizard hats and those kiddie wands. How festive! I love the decor of the place!!! From ceiling to floor to walls, there's so much to check out! Our server was friendly and attentive. She brought out glasses, but forgot the water carafe. No big deal; we just had to ask her. She was busy with that big table and the other smaller tables. It seems she was the only server working during that time. We got the following items: 1. Wizard Brew (bestie's) - She liked it; reminds her of Butter Beer 2. Unicorn Blood - I liked it; good sparkling wine. I wish it had a flower garnish like from the pictures that I saw on here. 3. Espresso Martini (bestie's) - She liked this as well. This one get lit up with fire. 4. Three-Legged Fox - Very refreshing and tasted like garden-like. There was a liquid nitrogen smoke element which made it magical! Lol 5. Naughty Waffles - Pretty yummy & definitely naughty naughty. The maple syrup helps alot as the waffles were pretty dry. 6. Kapfoot's Fish & Chips - Omg! This was my absolute favorite! I love the fish and chips. These type of chips is a kind that I've never seen before. They were both crunchy but still soft and fluffy too. Perfect flavor balance for both the chips and fish. I would totally come back for this again! They had an area in the front where there's the MiMOsa not MimoSA sign with a few props such as Harry Potter's glasses, Sorting Hat, and a broom. They also had Hedwig too?! Lol.. The bathrooms were clean too. I would definitely return again! So fun!

Legendary but too Busy…read more Stepping through the doors of Balboa Cafe in San Francisco's Cow Hollow neighborhood feels like unlocking a timeless vault of classic California society and old-school saloon culture. Established in 1913 (though a superstitious original owner famously installed a plaque reading 1914 to escape the bad luck of the number 13), this legendary watering hole effortlessly bridges the gap between San Francisco's rich history and its bustling modern energy. With its striking dark wood paneling, crisp white tablecloths, and an iconic green neon sign cutting through the fog on Fillmore Street, the room practically whispers stories of the generations of local politicians, tech moguls, and high-society regulars who have rubbed elbows here. It's a beautifully multigenerational landmark where people-watching is a sport, the service is fast and familial, and the kitchen still masterfully turns out their cult-classic Balboa Burger served on a fresh baguette. Yet, as spectacular as the vintage vibe and the burgers are, the true heartbeat of the modern Balboa experience is their legendary, world-famous Espresso Martini. Affectionately dubbed the "Espressotini," this cocktail is absolute royalty in the SF bar scene, with the bartenders famously churning out upwards of 1,000 martinis a day to tables ordering them a dozen at a time. Shaken to an incredibly velvety, frothy perfection using vanilla vodka, Kahlúa, and a proprietary nitro cold brew blend, it pours with a signature dense cream foam that mimics a perfect pint of Guinness. Deceptively smooth and balanced without being overly sweet, it acts as both a sophisticated pick-me-up and a social catalyst. Sitting at that historic dark wood bar, watching the towers of coupe glasses catch the dim ambient light while a lively crowd buzzes around you, drinking an Espressotini isn't just ordering a cocktail--it's taking part in a mandatory San Francisco ritual. Thanks

It's also loud and crowded enough that it doesn't make for a particularly enjoyable meal. To me, the reputation seems to have more to do with the location, history, and social scene than the quality of the restaurant. There is another reason I wouldn't choose to spend my money there. Balboa Café has a long association with Gavin Newsom's PlumpJack group. Newsom's San Francisco business interests, including Balboa Café, changed hands when he became mayor, and his remaining PlumpJack interests were later placed in a blind trust when he became California governor. The business is still part of the PlumpJack operation and is run by his sister, Hilary Newsom. I know many people have strong opinions about Newsom and his time as governor, and I have my own. Given that connection, I personally don't want to support the business. That's my choice, but when the restaurant itself isn't giving me much reason to go in the first place, it's an easy decision. For me, Balboa Café is overpriced, overrated, and not worth the money or the association.

We should have known that this wasn't the most popping spot considering the holiday and how we pranced in without too much of a fight. It was rather empty when we were there. It felt like more of an empty room that just so happened to be a bar. Things just seemed spaced out awkwardly with furniture that didn't go well together. It was rather quiet too. I could not even tell you what music was playing because I could not even hear it. I do appreciate that the place was festively decorated though. It was perfectly on theme for St. Patrick's Day. The bartenders were super friendly here. My friends and I were trying to take a picture together and the bartender kindly snapped some shots of us (both horizontal and vertical pics...chef's kiss). Extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience…read more We walked into the bar, ordered our drinks, were served without any issue, and my brother-in-law even left a generous $30 tip. Immediately afterward, security approached us and kicked our entire group out, claiming my brother-in-law was "too intoxicated." This was only our second bar of the night, and nothing about the way the situation was handled made sense to us. If he was supposedly too intoxicated to be there, why were we served drinks in the first place? I immediately asked to speak with a manager because I wanted an explanation. I was told the manager was coming out, so I waited--and nobody ever came. No manager spoke with us, no one properly explained what had happened, and we were given no opportunity to have a reasonable conversation about the situation. Later, I approached another security guard trying to understand what was going on. He directed me to someone else, who told me they had been dealing with people drinking all day and were kicking people out because they had been having issues with other patrons. That made the experience even more frustrating. Whatever problems the establishment had with other customers earlier in the day had absolutely nothing to do with our group. We walked in, purchased drinks, tipped $30, and were then immediately removed based on an accusation that was never properly explained to us. I haven't been to the marina since 2021, and this experience is the reason why. The new staff members, security guards, and bar workers displayed a lack of professionalism and treated customers disrespectfully. The biggest issue wasn't simply being asked to leave--it was the complete lack of professionalism and communication. If there was a legitimate concern, someone could have explained it respectfully. Instead, we were served, took care of the staff with a generous tip, were immediately kicked out, and then left waiting for a manager who never bothered to come speak with us. Completely unacceptable and disrespectful way to treat paying customers. What should have been a fun night turned into an unnecessarily frustrating and horrible experience.
