Wow! I work nearby and drive by so often and had t had the chance to visit until last night. The service is great. The bar is stocked. They focus on wine and upscale dining. They also have a back room for more room to set up food for a party. Yummy tacos, shrimp, mole sauce, and vegan options.

Best michelada I've had in my life! Everything is well done and the menu is exciting and full of diverse options. Mexican food is my favorite cuisine, I've lived in SF for almost a decade and this place has to be one of the top. We walked in on a Friday evening, short wait without reservation, and there were people coming in all evening. They were super busy but service was nice and polite. Can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu!

I was super excited to try the food here! Unfortunately I am sorry to say it did not meet my expectations and was pretty much a complete let down. They started off with a negative by seating us 20 min late (yes we made reservations) and the service was ok a bit awkward on the servers part. All the apps we ordered tasted exactly the same and had all the same garnish. The main dish we got Molcajete and is was just sad. Barely sizzled , Octopus was completely rubbery with no char, there was literally 1 pc of scallop and it came with only one tortilla each....what a disappointment! The flavor of it was actually good but it was poorly executed for sure. Not sure what the high ratings are about??? Im think maybe since it's one of the only Latin places in the richmond, the food needs improvement.

Taco de Cochinita de Pibil

This restaurant had been on my list for quite some time. I decided to make the trip over for dinner for one and let me tell you, I am beyond happy with my decision to try this place! Saturday evening and pretty much all their tables were occupied. With only having opened 45 mins prior to my arrival, I was amazed to see how busy they already were. I decided to sit at the bar and although it took some time to get in my order (drink and food), the bartender was nice enough to acknowledge my presence and quickly get my order in after. To drink, I got a Michelada and it was absolutely phenomenal! Delicious "tomato" mix and it was served in a cantarito de barro. Garnishes were pretty (and yummy as it was fruit). For food, it was their happy hour so I got guacamole - 4/5. Slightly missing some salt to taste but I loved how they added slices of red onion and micro greens on top. Chips y salsa - 5/5! The house salsas were out of this world!! My favorite were the habanero and darker colored one. Taco de Cochinita de Pibil - 4/5. Delicious and paired so well with the salsas. Piña de Mariscos - 5/5! Absolutely delicious!! I was beyond impressed with this dish, presentation is beautiful, seafood is so fresh and juicy. I was already quite full and chatting with another person when my piña arrived so I ended up taking the whole thing home, cutting off the stem and just taking the pineapple itself with all the juicy goodness. The next day it was just as delicious. Spacious location, very clean and well maintained. Low-lighting but perfect ambiance. Loved the music choices as well! All in all, I definitely recommend this place and will most definitely be back to try other items from their menu!

Restaurant Week: Sikil Pak (Mayan pumpkin seed dip), salsas with mango and cacao, and chips
Grace L.

My friends and I came here for Restaurant Week brunch. Each component of the meal was well done, but it wasn't the most bang for your buck in the sense that I could've just done the regular menu. On the Restaurant Week website, their three item brunch menu was listed for $30, but they were actually charging $35. The sikil pak Mayan pumpkin dip and housemade salsas with cacao and mango were tasty, and I've never had anything like the cacao salsa, which tasted almost like a mole salsa. They were stingy with the chips though, as they gave us a small bowl to start for 3 people. In my opinion, each person should've gotten their own. They then charged us for another small bowl. For the second course, I chose the quesabirria over Yucatan style French toast. The quesabirria (one piece; their regular menu comes with two pieces) was filled with a good amount of meat, and the French toast was deliciously custardy. The third course was a choice among a sopes Benedict fusion with Cochinita pork, scrambled eggs with mole sauce, or chilaquiles. We all enjoyed the sopes, and the potatoes were really nice and crispy. Overall, I'm still glad I checked out Cantina Los Mayas!

Cantina Los Maya's is hands down one of the best dining experiences. The cuisine is consistently amazing, and the cocktails are just as memorable. The atmosphere is lovely with beautiful music that makes you fall in love with the food, the place and the people. The servers are attentive, genuinely knowledgeable, and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Do yourself a favor and try their Old Fashioned, it is a real treat. We will absolutely be back.

Tacos de Maya Carnes asada

The tacos are legit good. The conchinita pibil (pork) hit the spot for me. The ceviche is a it different, sweet rather than salty, but still not bad. They also provided complimentary chips and salsa.

Wanted to like this spot, but the food just wasn't up to par for me. Ordered tacos, quesadillas and ceviche. The meat just wasn't that good - tried the pork and steak. Ceviche was decent though, but nothing special. Service is friendly and attentive. They did serve my quesadillas with the wrong meat though. I did tell them and the server happily replaced it. So that was great service. Came here another time and got drinks. My friend got fish tacos I believe. Those were good, but not the best. The drink was definitely good though! I don't recall what I ordered. But i would come back again just to sip on cocktails and enjoy the vibes.

We had a nice meal here! We ordered chips and salsa, scalloped chayote potatoes, Mayan mole, and the quesadilla de maiz. I regretted the mole dish as I didn't enjoy the flavors and textures, but I'm open to coming here again to try something else. Staff were friendly and the ambiance was fantastic. The warm lighting made the experience more enjoyable.

Churros (Creme Filled)

We came here to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and it was such a great experience. The food was absolutely amazing. We started by sharing chips and guacamole along with the hot salsa--everything tasted incredibly fresh. My daughter ordered the branzino frito with frijoles charros and cleaned her plate, which says a lot. I had the pozole verde (vegetarian style) and the tacos de jícama, and every bite was bursting with flavor. For dessert, we shared the churros, and they were so delicious--perfectly done. Overall, a wonderful meal and a place we will definitely return to. Side note: parking in the neighborhood is pretty rough, so plan ahead.

Amazing, amazing, amazing! Come with friends as we did to maximize sharing opportunities and try some of everything. It's all delicious and the upscale casual vibe of the restaurant provides the perfect ambience to experience with a small group. Things we tried (all recommended): * Sopes * Salbut * Ceviche * Guacamole & Chips * Sikil Pak (traditional Mayan dip) * Quesadilla de Maiz * Pipian Con Pato * Branzino Frito (my favorite) * Chamorro de Borrego * Postre de Familia My friends fell in love with several cocktails, but don't miss the wine flights if you're into wine as I am. I recently returned from a wine tasting weekend in Paso Robles where I had a wonderful time, but almost enjoyed my 5-glass flight at Cantina Los Mayas more than any of my tastings there. Each wine was exquisite with the delicious food and presented so beautifully by our engaging waiter.

What a great experience! This is a solid 4.5 all around. Came the other night. We ordered a ton of food - the empanadas, the panucho, the mixto platter and the churros. Also the chips and salsa. I was surprised they didn't have a huge tequila selection but it is a wine bar after all. The salsa was interesting. Not my favorite but the mango habanero was good. I was surprised that the smaller dishes didn't come with a ton of food - the panuchos and the empanadas were pretty small but delicious nonetheless. The star of the show was the mixto platter! A huge stone platter filled to the brim with octopus, carne asada, shrimp, chicharron. So much flavor and so fresh and delicious. The churros were also superb. All around a great meal.

Very good food, good ambiance, and good service overall but a bit expensive for some items that have smaller portions.

They made recommendations that were exactly what we were looking for (crisp white wine, not too dry and a good red). Our favorite part was that Happy Hour is 25% off everything! We scored a bottle of Nergomaro wine for $45, which was a steal. We sat on the patio, staying toasty under the heated canopy while we enjoyed the sights and sounds of Cole Valley. We were told 10/15 minutes for a table. Took 50 minutes - nearly an hour! We totally should have gone somewhere else but alas we eventually were seated. I got pasta and also and some of the pinsa (Roman style pizza). Also had the meatballs. Everything was just so so. The pizza almost tasted stale - someone mentioned it is supposed to be like that but I've had pinsa a few times and that was not my experience. The pasta was pretty good - a red sauce. Nothing special. Meatballs also solid. Somehow my pasta came up 12-15 mins after everything else's food which was entirely confusing but oh well. The wine was good. Overall a cute little wine bar in CV, would def come back but nothing to write home about.

I was not a " stranger who walked from Haight street to your premises. Make no mistake about it. The scope of trust and honesty is more valuable and important than the scope of ice cream . At the request of my daughter and my grandmother we went to the ice cream bar this last Wednesday, taking to account we have been customers for the past 10 years on and off , we would drive from Marin just to have the ice cream there . We have seen employees come and go including Managers. Since my kids went to Grattan school. At times I personally like to pay for things in cash . We know most customers about 67% would pay by credit cards. To make a long story short. I wanted to pay my bill in $100 bill . Brand new , undamaged and straight from Wells Fargo bank. Negative thoughts would generate actions , negative actions would generate negative prejudice. What were the odds of having a family and customer using malice in bad faith? I presented the legal tender of $100 bill to The server, he took the money and checked 4 times looking at the number at the front, he used his left hand using his fingernails to scratch the bill in a strange way, like if it was a lottery ticket or a gift card , we know that large bills should be checked. then stated that he cannot accept the bill and that he had no change. Immediately, objected to his statement. I told him I quote: " You didn't even open the cash register , how would you know if you have change or not " ? He responded sarcastically, I have been handling the money all day . I responded by saying: then you should know if you can make change or not . Furthermore, I stated to him that is not how you would check for a valid $100 bill . A special counterfeiting pen is ideal to check bills. I showed him the way to be checked by holding the bill upright and matching the serial numbers to the bill. He made no good faith effort to get help from his manager , to call someone or confer with a third party responsible. This has created an inconvenience for my family. Luckily, I brought a backup card and payed by discover card to diffuse the situation . I wonder how many $100 bills were passed by me for the last 10 years? I even suggested he should call the police if he was so sure that it was a counterfeit bill. It was certainly a legal tender of a good faith/ money and finance . Section U.S.C 31 5103. The Constitution says otherwise. The ice cream bar failed to warn . If it was a policy not to accept a $100 bill , it should have been known by a clear and convincing fact by posting a statement that " No large bills / $100 bills are accepted " in a clear view of customers to be seen. I have tried to communicate with the company's MANAGER by calling her 3 times . She did not bother to answer my request to address my concerns , " my phone calls were screened " and refused to take my phone calls or respond. See how easy to lose a customer. I will not recommend this place nor go black to this ice cream place.
