I live in the area and have watched a lot of restaurants come and go in this spot, but Mayaflor has stuck around and I always noticed a steady crowd eating there. Finally decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. Showed up around 10am on a Saturday with one other person and we were seated immediately, no wait. The space is on the smaller side with limited seating inside and out, so that might change depending on when you go, but the timing worked out great for us. Service was genuinely lovely. Everyone was warm, quick to offer recommendations, and my order came out about 10 minutes after I placed it which I appreciated. I got the huevos rancheros and added bacon. Really good call. I ordered my eggs sunny side up and once that yolk broke over everything it just took the whole dish to another level. The kind of bite where all the flavors come together perfectly. Would definitely come back, and I especially want to return for dinner to work through some of their evening menu items.

Panuchos de Cochinita Pibil

I found this place while being up the street for a work event. I noticed their menu had breakfast which I really wanted but knew it was already too late I still decided to try it out. The set up is smaller more intimate feeling but extremely welcoming. I decided to get a michelada and try the panuchos and empanadas, which came with two different sauces. I ended up getting a few orders of those, some of the best I've tasted in a really long time. The service was quick and efficient. I didn't try anything else since I filled myself up on those but I am very eager to try more of their food especially their breakfast. If you are in the area I highly recommend, I don't live in the area but would make the drive for this food.

Aji de gallina

My first time eating Peruvian, the chicken was amazing, the pollo à la brasa. It was just so tender and seasoned, it got stripped of the bone. The aji was interesting because it was so different. Also scooped gone, it was like a thick different sauce with shredded chicken in it. Very good to go!

Huevos a la Mexicana

incredible food, incredible tasting, and a really sweet staff The huevos à la Mexicana was to die for all the ingredients were in there to perfection and I believe the salsa is homemade that they have the green and the red is delicious oh and the horchata latte!!!! yah!!! not to mention, the food is decorated like art

Empanada Plate

Finally checked out this cute restaurant which opened in the last 2 years! The artwork hung on the walls appear to be from local artists with prices for sale, which added to the ambiance. My first impression was that the menu prices were higher than expected, and the portions are quite small for what you get. I ordered the empanada plate, which was tasty but nothing out of the world. The eggs Benedict were also tasty but small portions as well.

Challah Custard French Toast - 1/2

This was such a nice, cozy spot tucked in a corner in Nob Hill. Glad I finally got around to trying this place as it's been on my list for a while. While this French toast wasn't jaw dropping, it was still a yummy meal. The service was quick and attentive, and we weren't kicked out despite going on a very long yap session. Would come back in the future!

Lomo saltado. Very flavorful.

Wow. Delicious food. I always walked by and it was always crowded at breakfast. I walked by tonight and knew I had to try it. Lomo saltado and ceviche mixto were soo flavorful. The guacamole ice cream and churro dessert was one of a kind. Genuinely good food.

Mayaflor has been my favorite brunch place in Polk Gulch. Now with a new chef and expanded menu, they started serving dinner, too! It's tucked away on a cute, quieter street corner so it might be easy to miss out, but they serve very authentic Peruvian food and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Peruvian/ Mexican food. The owner is Peruvian but she developed a menu that inspired both by Peruvian and Mexican food. It's one of a kind. The pulpo a la parrilla is tender and juicy, the sauce in lomo saltado is very rich and delicious. The empanadas is definitely one of the highlights of the evening. The service is amazing as always. Please go and support this amazing local small business and their new venture into the dinner scene!

Peruvian quinoa salad

MayaFlor left us satisfied but not impressed. We ordered the Peruvian quinoa salad with grilled chicken and the chilaquiles divorciados (red and green combo). We are HUGE fans of chilaquiles and have had our share of amazing chilaquiles. Though I appreciated that they offered a red and green combo, the chips lacked the thickness to hold the sauce without becoming soggy. The red and green sauces were both descent. Beans always take a chilaquiles over the top for us but the black beans in this dish fell flat. A delicious salad always excites my taste buds but the Peruvian salad missed the bar on greatness. The staff, though friendly, forgot the grilled chicken I added to the salad . They were very apologetic and provided a five star response by not charging me for the chicken that they eventually brought out. Unfortunately the chicken was a bit dry and the amount was not worth the $6 it would normally cost to add chicken breast. It was also disappointing that the olives added were not pitted and therefore could not be enjoyed with each bite of salad unless I wanted to chip a tooth. Overall the dishes were decent and it was not hard to finish both plates but with the abundance of excellent food options in SF, we will not be returning.

Lomo saltado

Great local spot with delicious lomo saltado and cute decor. They even have a small outdoor area to eat where you can people watch while enjoying your food. I took my food to go and it was so good, I want to come back to try more items on the menu and dine in. The workers were so friendly when I stopped by!

French toast & Heuvos a la mexicana
Christiane F.

Was going to Mymy across the street but the line was too long and I stumbled upon Mayaflor. I loved the French toast, it was super tasty and not too sweet but the Huevos a la Mexicana was pretty average. The servers are really great! very attentive without being overbearing. Overall a really good experience!

Updating my review since it's 2025! Still an amazing brunch spot -- I typically go on weekends. Try to snag a table outdoors if it's a sunny day -- they're located on a corner, so it's also a cool spot to people watch. With that said, there is a decent amount of indoor seating available. In order to enter, there are a few steps you'll have to go down (in case accessibility is something you consider). The restaurant is run by the cutest family so there's a cozy atmosphere. There's not too many staff members, so it might take a while for things to come out when it gets busy (pretty standard compared to other places). There's a decent amount of classic breakfast items, and then a fun mix of Mexican dishes. On weekends, they have various specials available if you want to try something off menu! I personally recommend getting a side of french fries with whatever you order-- they're one of my favorites in the city and I always order them when I come (spicy aioli sauce is also top tier). I haven't tried their drinks myself, but friends have enjoyed them. Overall, this spot is one of my most frequented and I don't see that changing anytime soon! Give Mayaflor a shot and you won't be disappointed. Would love to see this small business pop off and thrive in 2025 (:

Cafe de olla, hot Mexican chocolate and fresh maracujá juice.

OMG! What a hidden gem! From outside it doesn't look special but don't be fooled, they prepare the most delicious dishes and the service is up and beyond. Highlights: the hot Mexican chocolate (it reminded me of old time birthday drinks) and the French challah toast is superb! Service is great and accommodating. Place is cozy once you step in.

The iced Thai tea was well-balanced and not overwhelmingly sweet. The chicken waffle was also good--especially the chicken itself. It was lightly battered and crisp to perfection. I do wish the waffle was more toasted since it was a bit soggy even with barely any syrup. The fruits were fresh and tasted really yummy. As for the PaNang omelette, it was delicious!! It's filled with meat and vegetables, so it's pretty hearty. The curry was so good and had just the right amount of spice. I would highly recommend the PaNang omelette. I made a reservation through Yelp but it seemed like they don't really check yelp for that so I would recommend to call for a table. Luckily, we showed up 30 mins early and there was a corner table near the kitchen available for my party of 5. I had the smoked salmon toast because I'm a basic bitch but whatever it was really yummy with a nice fresh half of avocado, salmon, capers.. all the fixings. The only issue about it was the two giant patty sized slices of red onion was intense. I only ate one ring of it because that's all it needed but I guess it's better for the option of more than too little? Idk not that serious. It came with a side salad that looked undressed but whatever magical dressing they put on it.. hello I need the recipe!! Peach Bellini pitcher was yummy and the brut was acceptable. My party of 5, including 2 brunch fiends and two fabulous locals, said they all really liked the food. If I'm in the area I would definitely come again! I just wish we had a better table but again, it was acceptable. We did metered parking 2 blocks away for $6 for 2.5 hours.

I loved the decor all around the restaurant with adorable cow art and a very clean feel. The servers and hosts were coming over to chat with us and just made us feel so welcome and special. I don't normally like horseradish, but the burger came with the perfect amount of horseradish where it tasted very fresh and added a good burst of flavor without being overwhelming! The fries were delicious and crispy. 10 out of 10 food, service, and environment. I would give them more stars if I could.

A charming little bistro inspired by the Marlowe cows, I'm assuming, managed to stun us with several memorable dishes. The warm deviled eggs were an excellent start. Savory yet delicate enough to not weigh us down right at the beginning of our meal. The horseradish aioli wasn't for me, but I can see its appeal for a certain audience. You give me a Calabrian chili sauce and it's guaranteed to make me happy and this shrimp with sweet corn was no exception. Again, light but a punchy flavor that was enjoyable. I could go on and on about the different dishes we tried but the real standout of the night was the pork tenderloin with chorizo and peaches. The sweetness from the peaches somehow managed to enhance the flavor of the chorizo. This dish gives you a bold, savory and sweet bite all together but still won't have you feeling super heavy. The portion size is perfect. Im hoping to return soon for another exquisite meal.

Came on a Tuesday morning & the wait wasn't too bad for a party of 2. It was my bf bday and we ordered mimosas, we got ID and the waiter noticed it was his bday and said happy bday. We ordered the egg sandwich, and the plow. I felt like the plow gives you a chance to try most of the popular items on the menu. The potatos were crispy and litely salted. The lemon ricotta pancakes were slightly dense . The lemon flavor was intense, not sure if there was lemon zest in the batter. The egg sandwich tasted great with the apple. It was messy.
