Went into La Travesia for an early dinner with some coworkers and it's a tiny but chill restaurant near the Financial District in SF. I got there a little early and staff greeted me and let me sit at our reserved table/asked if I'd like anything to drink which was nice. Onto the food... The warm crispy tortilla chips and salsa that came out at the beginning was great. You could tell it was all house made. If I ever see quesabirria as an option, I jump. It's not easy to find so I assume when I see it that it'll be amazing but sadly it didn't quite hit here. It was good, but it could have been better. When it comes out it looks like it would be bursting with flavor between the consomme, lime to squeeze, pickled onions and radish, and the quesabirria itself. Surprisingly though, the flavors were pretty muted :(. The consomme had a nice consistency but it and the meat were lacking rich flavor which is what I'd expect for this dish. Still a place worth checking out if you're in the area!

Excellent food, unassuming ambiance, and friendly service. We came here for lunch and ordered their chicken mole poblano (outstanding), their birra tacos (delicious), and their fried plantains (they were cooked perfectly). Large portions, reasonable price, and very friendly server. I highly recommend this place!

I love going here because of the delicous food served. You would have to come find out for yourself. If I can bring Mom here and she enjoys it a lot you would to. I had a special dish called Costillas de puerco en salsa asada. The following time I had Al Pastor Super Burrito and Mom had her favorite Carne Asada Quesadilla!!! The ambience is very welcoming, the staff is very friendly and attentive to customers as I observed. They would ask if I needed anything else or hows the food? This shows passion is what happens in the kitchen to the dining table.

Came in for dinner and was surprised on how warm the interior felt. I sat down near the kitchen and was able to see the chefs prep for food! The waitress was very kind and help when I asked for recommendations. When Sat, she brought out a bowl of chips and salsa! I ended up getting the mushroom empanadas, carne asada fajitas plate, and a watermelon Agua Fresca. I really enjoyed everything, very flavorful and fresh! Will be coming back when craving tacos!

A real hole in the wall in the Tenderloin, and a gem for sure. My friend and I grabbed a late lunch at La Travesia. The service was great, I really appreciate how the server gave good recommendations! The space had plenty of seating and had cute decorations. The server brought chips and salsa to start. It took a while to get the food, but the portions were huge! I got the huevos rancheros with Al pastor, and my friend got chilaquiles with salsa verde. I was sooo happy with the large potion and how they used hella eggs. The avocado was fresh too. They serve "breakfast/brunch" all day so I was stoked for that. The refried beans with cheese were also good. The food wasn't too greasy at all. The Al pastor was seasoned well and had those sweet chunks of pineapple. I would def go back when I'm in the area!

Garlic Shrimp with salad/avocado (instead of rice/beans). The "Liz Special". This place is excellent. I had this placethree days in a row with their fresh homemade corn tortillas. Back I live two doors away. Love the food, love the cooks, love the staff. Reasonably priced. Great atmosphere with lLatino music and interesting wall decor. You feel like family in this place. Muy, Muy bien!!! Excellente!!!

    Birria stew is amazing!

We tried quite a few things, including the ceviche sampler, empanada sampler, Classico ceviche, octopus, and of course, a Pisco Sour. The ceviches were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I also really enjoyed the chicken and steak empanadas! The mushroom and corn flavors weren't really for my palate, but I liked being able to try a variety with the sampler. The one dish that fell short for me was the octopus. I order octopus pretty often, and when it's prepared well, it can be incredibly tender, almost with the tenderness and texture of meat. Unfortunately, this one was quite chewy and tough, which was disappointing. The Pisco Sour was delicious and a must if you're coming here! At the end of dinner, they surprised my husband with a complimentary tres leches cake for his birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. He normally isn't a fan of tres leches, but he actually really enjoyed this one because it was super light and not overly heavy or sweet. Overall, we had a great time celebrating his birthday. Between the ceviche, drinks, service, and birthday surprise, there was a lot to enjoy. The octopus was really the main thing keeping it from being a 5 star experience for me. 4/5 and I'd definitely come back!

We had to flag her down a few times whenever we needed something instead of her checking in on us. We ordered the bistek sandwich and bistek plate. The sandwich was actually really good, although it was a little hard to eat like an actual sandwich because the meat wasn't sliced up. I basically had to eat the steak separately. The sauce it came with aka crack sauce, was SO good. I ended up grabbing a couple to take home because it went well with pretty much everything. Just beware that they charge an extra $1 per sauce. The plantain fries were good, but I wish they were a little crispier. The bistek plate, however, was probably a 3/5 for me. It lacked flavor and just wasn't anything particularly special. We ended up using the crack sauce to give it more flavor. The chicken empanadas were also pretty bland. Overall, the restaurant has a loud, lively atmosphere and the experience was alright. There were definitely some hits and misses, but that crack sauce was easily the highlight!

I think the food was solid - I shared with someone the shredded jerk chicken chilaquiles and crispy beef vaca frita potato hash & eggs, whereas the entire table shared the guava crème brûlée French toast. The potato hash & eggs was good, no complaints. The chilaquiles were okay, my friend really loved them, but I personally thought they were okay. Seems like they're prepared different (with mole rather than salsa), and I think I prefer with salsa. Not to say they were a bad dish - my friend really loved them. The guava French toast was probably the best, it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and had great flavor. I'm giving this place a 5 not because the food was exceptional or standout, it was solid overall, but taking into consideration the good experience, service, and ambience too. We also had bottomless mimosas, and staff were very friendly and attentive. My group had a great time overall. I would come back for bottomless mimosas & grub if I came with a group.

With no planning, we showed up at Pacifico, which was just a couple blocks from our concert. The restaurant was a little weird - it sits within the lobby of the SF Jazz recital hall, and all the signs are for "B-Side". It's a little unclear to me still whether the restaurant is called B-Side or Pacifico, but the waiter told us that Pacifico is new, with a new chef and new menu. The inspirations are Colombia, Peru, and California cooking, which was very appealing to us. We ordered two items off the specials menu (Tuna Tostada and Short Rib) and one from the permanent menu (Hearts of Palm Ceviche). The Tuna Tostada was both of our favorite. It was light, refreshing, and there were these little pops of flavor from burnt, deeply fried jalapeños. The Hearts of Palm ceviche was interesting and unique (a completely vegetarian dish, but made in the style of ceviche and with leche de tigre). Ultimately, it was more interesting than appetizing. Finally, the Short Rib was well cooked, but unfortunately just way too sweet for our palate.
