This was a delicious spot for a filling lunch! I dropped by with a couple friends on a weekday for lunch during our visit to SF. Fortunately, this location is conveniently located a block away from a train station. We entered the small storefront and joined the line of other hungry patrons. There is a man in the back who takes your order and cooks it himself. He had a helper and they were very efficient! I received my food only a few minutes after placing the order. My friends opted for the burritos and I tried a quesadilla with al pastor meat. The food came out hot and fresh and there were different salsas and pico available to customize it. I needed a good amount of salsa for my quesadilla, which wasn't too flavored but the meat was delicious and I enjoyed the warm, crispy tortilla. I tried a little of my friend's burrito and it was delicious!! I will definitely get that if I stop by again. I would recommend this spot for the portion sizes - the order was enough for two meals for me! They are quick and have no frills at this spot - it's just all about the food. Till next time!

Wow this was easily the worst taqueria I've been to in SF. The burrito was cold after 2 bites, lots of inconsistencies between our two burritos, and overall unflavorful. My Al pastor itself was yummy and i like that it was extra crispy but the rice was bland and the salsas were gross. The vegetarian burrito was basically all uncooked onion and cilantro. I don't take 1 star reviews lightly but this place has gone downhill.
This was my regular go-to taqueria for the 15 yrs I lived in SF. Haven't been back in yrs since moving away. Their hours have shortened so no more late nights, but the quality is just so amazing. I've been living in AZ & MX and I can't get anything as good or tailor made. Best al pastor burritos in the world! Even the cook (maybe owner) said "long time no see." Just the best place.
I absolutely love the burritos here!! The quality of food paired with the great price point makes for a super experience. They make the burrito right in front of you, giving you variety options of meat, beans, tortillas, salsas, etc! This is no frills establishment with quality food. I also really enjoy their horchata, unlike most places this horchata is made from scratch and adequately sweet.
The portions are huge here. You really get a bang for your buck. I got the Super Nachos with chorizo and they were loaded. They mounded a ton of meat on top, and everything was super flavorful. Honestly, it was more than enough to share. There's indoor seating, but I got mine to go--it held up really well. Totally worth it.

This spot def competes with a lot of the other major mexican restaurants in mission for best burrito in sf. I like that i can customize my tortilla to a spinach wrap and they have so many protein options. My friend got a bean and cheese burrito side and was very affordable ~$9 I got a super carnitas burrito -$14 small place with some seating in the front. Staff is super nice, spanish and english speaking, and working hard to make fresh deliciousness happen in that kitchen
All I can say is "WOW". This might be one of the best deals in SF in terms of price, quantity of food, and taste. I came here on a Sunday night, ordering to go, and there was a short line. The place itself was cozy enough although don't expect any frills. This place is focused on the food. There were plenty of options on the menu but I had to go for the wet burrito. I actually asked for half chicken and half al pastor. Not only were they more than happy to accommodate, but they gave me a ton of meat! You can further customize by tortilla type (note they'll default to normal tortilla unless you ask), beans in the burrito (black, pinto, refried), and toppings. I like it spicy so I asked for green salsa. The guac was a bit different (more liquidy) than I'm used to, but still tasty. I was actually a bit concerned that getting a wet burrito to go may not work out well, but the way they ensure the burrito is HOT and how they add everything into the plastic container made it travel well! The burrito was MASSIVE. I'm a huge eater and was hungry at the time. Still, I ended up in a food coma after consuming maybe 2/3 of the monster burrito. And I paid ~$17 after tax! Not too shabby for SF.
Good wet burrito! I think this place is quite decent. The wet burrito has a great balance of flavors. Nothing really surprising, it's more like a 3.5/5 stars for me! It's comforting and reliable but nothing too fancy. The price is also decently average.
One of my new favorite burrito spots! The Al Pastor Super burrito was packed with flavor. It was juicy and perfectly seasoned. A well balanced burrito, not soggy and not dry. You can even opt for spinach or tomato tortillas. We also got the torta with chicken however it wasn't as flavorful. The line moved quickly and efficiently. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!
I just ordered takeout from this place and had a delicious bean and cheese burrito here. The service was friendly and the ambiance of this place is good for a Mexican restaurant. I probably will be back here again. I highly recommend this place

Went for a steak burrito but their breakfast menu caught my eye. Walked up to the ORDER counter and was greeted by the cook. Very polite and welcoming. Told him I'll have the breakfast burrito but to add rice and beans. He said no problem. Also added avocado to it as well and he said it wasn't a problem. Walked over to the CASHIER counter to pay. Also greeted and welcomed by a nice girl. She had fresh ink on her forearm. She was kind and helped with the salsa bar. Burrito was done and handed over by the cook. This breakfast burrito is good! The green salsa has a little kick but good flavor. Overall great experience inside the taqueria and quality of food is filling, flavorful, and great! Not to mention very clean counters and tables. read more

Did not have lunch this day, but that does NOT detract from how good, how fast, and how YUMMERZ this burrito was. This was a hole in the wall place for the longest, as this did not show up on google maps up until recently (AFAIK). Regardless, this burrito got clomped in five seconds from me. The environment was also very clean, and very surprisingly spacious. The star was their steak burrito. Price was alright - I believe I bought the burrito for $13 dollars or so, which was good for SF stanards. Side note: This place used to be about a ~15 minute walk from my place, and I regret not getting this more than 2 times. read more

After seeing that they had an actual pastor spit, I had to order their AL PASTOR SUPER BURRITO ($12.95). I somehow missed that the burrito comes with a spicy red salsa and finely chopped jalapeños, which gave everything a kick that dampened my enjoyment. That said, I won't penalize them for my pitiful spice tolerance, especially because the meat was some of the best pastor I've had around here. I also thought the flour tortilla was above average, and enjoyed the use of melted sliced cheese over traditional shredded. Otherwise, everything else was standard, with relatively bland rice and beans and indiscernible guac. I also wish the components were a little more evenly distributed rather than having to eat pockets of beans and rice vs flavorful pastor. The portion was solid though and overall made for a satisfying meal. read more

Skip the overpriced brunch spots with their tiny avocado toasts--this place serves up a huge breakfast plate for just $12.75 that's easily shareable. Packed with flavor, protein, and variety, it left us full and happy. I'll definitely be coming back, especially with its convenient location right off the N & J line. read more
Still great! We aren't in the neighborhood anymore, but I'm glad to see things are still going well. Same nice folks working the kitchen and register. After all my adventures through the menu, my favorite item still rocks. Super burrito with black beans and carnitas, Dorado (grilled) style. They do a different style carnitas here. Not fried like the authentic Mexican dish. They braise their pork in liquid. I saw them preparing it today, pouring it out of a big pot with it's tasty sauce. Black beans help give texture, since the pork is fork tender. The same goes for getting the burrito grilled. You need the crisp edges for contrast. And their green salsa? Still the best I've had in the Bay. read more
We got the Al Pastor Super Taco & Al Pastor Super Burrito my boyfriend got the taco and he loved it! It's sooo filling for such a great price. We were thinking it is just a taco but they gave us a good portion size of rice and beans. I got the burrito and this was humongous. I ate it for lunch and dinner lol Total $21 read more

Solid! We were shopping at the mall across the street when hunger struck! Looking around, I immediately noticed the yellow color of Taqueria El Castillito stood out. The inside space is small but very clean, and plenty of tables and seats are there to choose from. They have a good size menu that has something for everyone. It was not too busy when we walked in, so I quickly placed my order and got busy! The food is good. I enjoyed my burrito. It was done just right! One of the people at the table next to us was busy with a Carne Asada Plate, which looked very good! I asked him about it, and he gave me a big thumbs up, but it was already too late. I was full! This place is a very casual and fast taco shop with generous portions. I love how flavorful and fresh the ingredients are. The shrimp and al pastor tacos were so good, and I wanted more because they had hopped right off the grill. read more

Let me say that I am a vegetarian so I don't eat meat so this only applies to vegetarian items. Hands down, it's one of the most reasonably prized places if you're really hungry and don't have a lot of money. But this applies to one item only, it's the super veggie taco. It's only $ 4.99! It's a large portion with beans, rice, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, etc. This has got to be the best deal in the city. I really enjoyed eating at this restaurant because it was my first burrito after a really long time, and I, in general, really like Mexican food. I struggled to find the location at first, but it's located near a Safeway and the sign outside is really clear. Although the streets do not make the location as clear as it could be. Parking is not super ideal, but you can probably park at the Safeway and walk 3 minutes down. For $15, I paid for a chicken soup or burrito including dip and tax, and I thought that price was okay. It will last me 2 meals because the portions are pretty big. It's not the biggest restaurant location inside with the number of chairs, but it's a really great place for people who want to hang out with their friends or grab a quick to-go snack. The service was fine. I don't think it was particularly impressive or particularly bad in any way. When my order was coming out a little late, the waiter actually came and checked that we had gotten my food. He rushed the order when he saw that I still hadn't gotten my super burrito after about 10 minutes of waiting. I think it's a great place if you want to come and just grab a quick dinner. It's probably not the place you want to be if you want a fine dining or a really serious date night. But otherwise, it's okay to eat at. read more
