Casual and friendly place and pet friendly :) It's just as good prob better than the east bay location

Good tacos, good mood, good night

has a cozy, laid-back atmosphere with delicious street-style tacos full of fresh flavor. It's the kind of spot that feels easy and comforting, whether you stop by for a quick meal or a late-night craving. Friendly service and authentic taste make the experience simple but memorable. Love poem: Like warm streets under city light, You found my soul on a quiet night. In every smile, my fears grew small, And love felt simple after all.

Pork Quesadilla

Not a fan, but wish I was. Third time here, no bueno. I had a basic Quesadilla w/marinated pork. Oddly enough, the receipt said just "meat", which I even questioned after a few bites of my choice. It was absolutely flavorless, you wouldn't know this was "pork", unless someone told you it was. Chopped in little bits, more akin to ground up in little teeny tiny pieces, dry and dark as if it was over cooked. (See photo). Extremely disappointing and very unappetizing. Even added a few of the med heat salsa's, still nothing. The chips were warm, but again, flavorless as was most of the salsas. Not even a dusting of salt on the chips. Thank goodness it was only $13.00 Third time was not a charm, in this case and IMO.

Tucan Nachos
Petrangelica V.

Food was amazing! So much flavor and freshness with every bite. I noticed the nachos were very light and not super greasy at all, which I definitely appreciate. Inside was nice and clean, with plenty of seating options inside and out. Food came out fairly fast for it being as busy as it was (St.patty's weekend). Even if the wait was longer it would be well worth it! 10/10 recommend if you're in the area- especially the nachos!

Chicken, steak, and al pastor tacos

Went here on such a nice night, we sat outside and the string lights and street table made it feel super cozy. You order at the counter which is a bit chaotic, which is my only downside to this place so far. I loved the chicken tacos best, don't miss the sauces bar up to the right of the counter. The mango margarita was amazing, some people had the agua de Jamaica which looked so good I want to try it next time. Will definitely be back

The California burrito is waaaaay toooo salty. I got it with adobada. I couldn't finish it.

The décor is really nice -- the Frida Kahlo painting on the wall is cool. But the food... not a fan. I ordered the pollo asado tacos and the shrimp taco. The shrimp needed to be grilled more, and the pollo asado tasted a little burnt with barely any flavor. I'm giving it three stars only because the horchata was AMAZING -- perfectly made and served in a cute cup. Other than that, I probably wouldn't come back again. The horchata? Yes. The food? No.

Al pastor tacos and a queso birra taco

Casual taco spot in the Castro with tons of seating. You order at the register in the front and seat yourself. They also have a salsa bar and the water is self-serve. I got one quesobirria taco, and two al pastor tacos. I enjoyed both but I preferred the al pastor which was very flavorful. I also enjoyed the pineapple agua fresca which was fruit and refreshing. Overall, was a pretty solid meal. It satisfied my taco craving

People flocking to this place at midnight, on a Friday.

Nice, hardworking people, giving The Castro what it needs, in Mexican Food (the best food, IMO), late at night, even, in STYLE! It's not Casa Bonita, but it's a good time. I get the impression the crew knows they're offering something good, & they care about our experience. The style of the place is exceptional ambiance. There's only one thing that disappoints me. So many restaurants use plastic containers that will never biodegrade & are not recyclable. these containers will be long after AI cancels the human race.

Great tacos! Very filling and lots of meat in the chicken and chorizo tacos. Clean interior

Still drooling over these Crispy. Adobada. Tacos. WITH Pineapple (they're so kind to ask if you want to add) and green cilantro sauce. Next time: I think I'd add a cheese crust inside. Maybe get their Keto version wrapped with the crispy red tortilla. The shrimp quesadilla was sooo good - tortilla was the chewy semi translucent type, my favorite. It also was oozing with this green sauce. Salsa bar is a plus- the mild one was smokey and sweet. Also 10/10 on chips they had...lots of flavor (fried in lard maybe?) and nice / crunchy. Awesome location and beautiful on a warm sunny day. This place opens until 2am!!! Sounds like a perfect treat after the Castro bars. Was it the best tacos I've ever had for the price? No, meat and shrimp could have a bit more of a char for flavor...but will still definitely curb your cravings. Vibes, service, are a plus.

The food here was a hit or miss. Overall, it's not worth ordering from here again because there are way better taco spots in the city. I ordered a carne asada taco, adobada (al pastor) taco, quesabirrias combo, and a bowl. My favorite item was the quesabirria. This was delicious and was the only item worth ordering. The consume was flavorful as well. However, this still isn't my favorite quesabirria spot in SF. Now...onto the bad. The tortillas completely ruined the tacos here! The tortillas were likely not fresh or were poorly made because they were very dry and started breaking apart the second I reached for each taco. Needless to say, the tacos were super messy to eat as they were falling apart. The carne asada and adobada also lacked flavor. The carne asada, in particular, was very dry and unpleasant to eat. I don't recommend ordering either of these tacos.

food was yummy, well seasoned, and filling and they did not skimp on the meat on any of our dishes. the only disappointing thing was the lack of sauces/salsas. service was good -- had to order in queue but food was delivered to our table when our number was called. great place for some quality late night eats.

Tacos El Patron is still my go-to spot for birria tacos in the city…read more Food: I first discovered birria tacos during the pandemic and went on a mission to find the best one. A coworker recommended this place, and now I recommend it to everyone. What stands out is the balance--everything is done well. The meat is rich and flavorful, the tacos themselves are just as good, and the consommé ties everything together perfectly. I've tried places where one part is strong but something else falls short, but not here. You also get free sides like onions, cactus, radish, and beans, which make the meal even better. I've been coming back ever since, and I can easily finish three tacos in one sitting. On my most recent visit, I had two birria tacos and tried their birria ramen. It was surprisingly good--comforting and flavorful, more like a homemade dish than anything instant. For drinks, I've tried all their jugos, and the jamaica is the standout--get it in a large. Service: Friendly, efficient, and straightforward. Orders come out at a good pace, and the staff keep things moving even when it's busy. Ambience: The space has a Frida Kahlo-inspired design, which adds character and makes it feel lively and unique. There's one restroom available. Parking: Parking can be a bit difficult in the area, so expect to walk a little--but it's worth it once you get your food. If you're serious about finding a really good birria taco, this is one to try.

Tacos El Patron is worth the effort to figure out where to park, etc. it's not quite a hole in the wall, but it definitely is on the smaller side, and we ended up getting food to go because it was just easier. The birria quesadilla was a total surprise. It was FILLED with a very generous amount of meat. The meat was tasty, lightly seasoned, and the portion truly is a shareable. We asked about the consommé and I don't know if they just forgot it or what happened but we never got to try it. The shrimp taco was tasty and absolutely filled with again generous amount of shrimps. Ironically, it wasn't my favorite. It just was lacking the level of flavor that I really wanted. The Carne Asada was mediocre at best and not something that I would order again. The winner out of the numerous items that we ordered was the pork belly and the Al pastor. Between the two, the Al pastor is the one that you want. Incredibly well seasoned, a nice hint of light spice, the meat was juicy and tender, and the combination in the taco was outstanding. Seriously so good that my mouth is watering just thinking about how tasty it was. The chips were nothing to write home about, and I didn't really care for salsas that came with the meal. Really reasonably priced, generous amount of food, and absolute worth the push in enjoying their food! Diners tip: there seems to be a description in cost between ordering online versus in the restaurant and you may get a better deal ordering online

Although it is super packed and has a lot of business I suspect it used to be amazing and build a reputable name, then finished quality over time and continue to receive customers due to their past performance. The ambiance makes you think that this place offers amazing food considering the amount of people but when you try the food you will truly understand Super Burrito Carne Asada - 3/10 Regular Burrito Cabeza - 5/10 Burritos are extremely small, very oily and have barely any meat inside.
