    Happy anniversary
    Sean G.

Was happy to come by and finally check this place out growing up in the bay area. I had always heard about it but every time I had walked by it felt too fancy or more of a date place to me. Finally checked it out for our anniversary dinner and happy that we did. The service was great, our waiter came over and checked on us multiple times and made sure that we had everything that we needed. We will definitely come back and check it out next time we're in the area.

We tried a few items but we weren't hungry for a huge meal. I didn't realize that the pizza was more like a flatbread and not a circle. It was good still. We also had to try the garlic ice cream which was worth it. The chocolate sauce on top mixed very well with the garlic flavor. If we were to come back I'd want some of the fresh bread with the roasted garlic. Service was great.

Vampires won't get you here!!! We've been trying to try this place out for a long time and finally made our way. Be prepared to have garlic breath & garlic farts xD Starting off with drinks - I got the blueberry lemon drop ($14.99). It really packed a punch, I wouldn't say it was the best but it was definitely strong. Very vodka forward hold the lemon & blueberry I guess... idk if it was cheap vodka used but taking a sip was like taking a shot. For appetizers we ordered the bagna calda ($12.99) which is like an oil & garlic dip with bread. The bread we initially got was hard as a rock on the bottom, I literally couldn't take a bite out of it. We liked the bread where it was soft, but couldn't enjoy it so we asked for a new bread and got a baguette instead. Would've preferred the other bread if it wasn't so hard. LOVED the dip, there's a crap ton of garlic in it so there was sooo much flavor. Light but very flavorful. My bf ordered the sizzling garlic prime ribeye stake medium ($49.99). This plate didn't come sizzling so that was a bummer... but came with mashed potatoes which were a hittttt! Pretty sure there was also garlic in there but the mouthfeel was light, airy, and mushy all at the same time. Paired well with the steak which wasn't so bad! Thoroughly enjoyed the steak, was cooked on par for medium, easy to chewy, and marinated well with ofc their secret garlic sauce. I ordered the short rib ravioli and the garlic Brie & mushroom sauce ($26), which of the sauces is the most popular. I loved this dish. I'm a huge pasta lover and having the short rib in the ravioli than the traditional ground beef/pork, made the burst in flavor so unique and different. The sauce was almost like a stroganoff flavor, not too heavy, not too salty. For dessert, never had garlic ice cream ($9.99) before so we had to try it. It tasted more like hints of garlic rather than a weird garlicky flavor. It definitely pops out the more you eat it, but I think the chocolate sauce also distracts from the garlic taste. I enjoyed it, but maybe a one and done for me. Service was great, can't complain, they were polite and checked in often. Made sure everything was good. This is located in little Italy and parking can be tough, unless you're lucky.

Overall fun concept! Seemed a bit gimmicky as we just walked in having no idea of the theme or anything after prior dinner plans did not work out but was pleasantly surprised. Fun date with partner you know well. Got seated easily and quickly Sunday night with no res during peak hours Food: Best item was dessert so let's start there! The garlic ice cream was to die for! Ask for chocolate sauce on side. Unexpectedly one of my favorite ice cream experiences...creamy not too sweet, huuuge portion enough for two Bagna calda: yummy but ask for red pepper flakes on side. Creamy, flavorful( the perfect app) Basta pasta short rib ravioli: get the mushroom and Brie sauce! Not overwhelming, red pepper flakes were a nice addition Prime ribeye steak: meat was alright, fat cap was huge and despite it being cooked rare upon request there was some grizzle. The potatoes though! Definitely took the cake with this dish. Hefty portion. Paired nicely with house wine which I was surprised by as normally my experience with house wines isn't the best but this one had a rounder flavor and cut through the steak well Drink: - house wine had a generous and is $5 cheaper than the rest of the wines on the menu. I liked the flavor too again to my surprise! - expresso martini: I didn't try it but apparently it's strong! Service: quick, professional Ambiance: we sat outdoors and didn't feel cold at all as there's strong heating outside. Indoors the decor is funkyyyy in a fun way :D

I saw this place about 10 years ago when I was in SF and had always missed the chance to visit. That was until this past week. And to be honest it was kind of a let down. The food was just ok versus the prices. The taste didn't blow me away but they did achieve the garlic flavor which I guess that is what you come for. The seating was small and kind of cozy but the outside seating was too close for comfort of the passerby. Maybe that is just my opinion.

We sat on the patio and had a good time. There's heaters out front for when it got cold. The food was good but we were hoping it would have been absolutely smothered in garlic. We wanted to leave wreaking of garlic. The garlic ice cream was surprisingly suuuuper good and my favorite item. Service was ok. It was pretty busy night.

It's been a while since we visited The stinking Rose, the last time it was in 2016, for my daughter's 18th bday. This time, new location and new set up. My sister and I were in the city to buy a cake for my husband at the bakery next door and decided to grab lunch. We grabbed a table on the front facing the street, we were helped right away. I ordered the bbq garlic chicken pizza and my sister the bacon, tomato and avocado baguette. It was delicious. I managed to eat the whole damn pizza by myself, I was suppose to take some home to my son. Now I have the perfect excuse to come back and bring my son.

Came here with a friend on a Tuesday night to try out this garlic-themed restaurant! We had both respectively heard a lot of good things about this place, so we wanted to try it out! The service was great, as the servers checked up on us often and gave us recommendations. The ambiance was also lovely! We sat outside and I really liked that the tables are garlic-themed! Sitting outside on the street was a cool experience, as the seats are positioned so that we could people watch and take in the view as we ate! The food was amazing as well - my friend got the garlic lover's sauce with gnocchi and I got the garlic mushroom and Brie sauce with housemate fettuccine. The fettuccine was very good - chewy and delicious! I have to say I tried my friend's dish and her sauce was definitely much more garlicky, though both sauces were quite rich! I definitely want to come back sometime to try the garlic ice cream and the garlic chicken sandwich! We also got the warmed acme baguette as an appetizer and it was perfectly crunchy and delicious! Overall, I would definitely come back again for try new items and bring new friends here to experience it!

I absolutely loved Stinking Rose back home in LA, so I was so happy to see their original location pop up on my Yelp while searching for dinner on a Friday night. It was easy to make reservations online for 2 for the same day at 8pm. Upon arrival we were seated inside quickly and I was reminded why I absolutely love the vibe of this place. The theme is so on brand and fun! I will say that the LA location was a lot bigger with more space, so it did feel a little cramped at our small 2 person table. I ordered my usual - the Bagna Calda and the Sizzling Garlic Prime Ribeye Stake which comes with the most delicious garlic mashed potatoes. The Bagna Calda is the MUST GET APP! Oven roasted whole garlic cloves in olive oil and butter with a hint of anchovy - literally heaven for all garlic lovers and pairs so perfectly with the bread. I ordered my Ribeye medium rare and it was cooked well. The mashed potatoes are my absolute favorite! So flavorful and I loved it more than steak. My fiancé got the Ravioli and also really enjoyed his dish. Service was solid and checked up on us often. Overall, I'm glad I got to visit the OG SF location and will definitely have to come back next time I'm in the city!

I'm an LA native who totally missed the boat on getting to try the Stinking Rose back home before its closure (RIP). So, I couldn't pass up the chance to try on my latest trip to SF. Arrived on time for my 6:15pm reservation and was immediately. Since I'm a solo girly, normally I would have opted for bar seating , but I had to get an eyeful of the vibes. Such a cute and kitschy place. I love a bit of quirk so this was right up my alley. For drinks, I started off with a Dracula's sunrise and followed it up with a watermelon margarita both super great but the margarita was the winner for me. Comes with a giant hunk of watermelon in the middle. Yum! I made sure to start off strong with the Bagna Calda. Simply garlic confit and bread. Really good. For my main I had the Cioppino! This was great and could have easily been shared with another person. Lovely mussels, crab, calamari all dancing in a delicious tomato sauce. I loved this. Best of all, they topped this with a glorious amount of Parmesan. Rigoberto helped me out for the evening and was totally great, helpful and gave me a lovely experience. Great visit to The Stinking Rose! I love garlic and already thinking about that 40 clove chicken. Ive been visiting the city pretty often. So I'm sure I'll be back again very soon!

Finally checked this place out for my birthday this past summer. I am a person who looooves garlic. Minced garlic on the stove is the BEST savory smell EVER. However, tart preserved garlic I am not a fan of. I have to say my visit was a little underwhelming. Fortunately here was no wait on a weekday night. Street parking was easy to find. I loved the interior decoration and atmosphere. It is maximalist decor, all the way up the high ceilings. It was cool but makes me wonder how often and how can they even clean off the dust all the way up there. I expected the bagna calda and garlic ice cream would be my favorite, but my favorite was actually the garlic relish on acme bread!! The bagna calda honestly did not taste very fresh. I felt as if I was eating beans oddly. The pasta was tasty, but it could have been more garlicy. The seafood and steak were ok. The garlic martini was ok; I tasted a preserved garlic flavor rather than a savory garlic bread kind of flavor I was hoping to get. Not a big fan of tart preserved garlic personally. At the end they gifted some garlic ice cream and sang a birthday song, but no garlic hat that I heard was a popular thing in the past (though my friend said the hat looked old and dirty so maybe they got rid of it). The garlic ice cream didn't taste like garlic lol. I'm unsure if it was because the ice cream was so subtly flavored and the meal I had before was heavier on garlic so I just couldn't detect it in the ice cream? Another item I've been so excited to try and felt underwhelming. Overall, the staff was very nice and I'm glad I got to try this place. I might want to come back to try some other items, but I'm in no rush since the flavors didn't make a great first impression on me.

Date of Visit: 11/7/2025 We visited the famous garlic restaurant The Stinking Rose on a Friday night in early November. We made the reservation right before our visit, and there were plenty of seating available. We were sat ono second floor mezzanine area, with a great view of the restaurant. Mummy's Boy Watermelon Margarita $14.99 I ordered the watermelon margarita made with tequila, watermelon, lemon, lime, and agave. Dracula Sunshine $14.99 Husband got the dracula sunshine made with tequila, orange juice, and grenadine. Both cocktails were just ok, and considered we just had some drinks at Pagan Idol, which is one of the best cocktails in the city. Sizzling Garlic Prime Ribeye Steak $49.99 We ordered the prime ribeye steak cooked to medium rare. The smell of garlic was amazing. Brick Oven-Roasted Dungeness Killer Whole Crab $69.99 And we also got the whole crab, which was brick oven roasted with garlic and spices. Tiramisu $9.99 For dessert we ordered the tiramisu. Made with two layers of espresso drenched sponge cake divided with mascarpone cream & dusted with cocoa powder. The taste was great with a hint of rum.

Awesome, impromptu stop to the stinking roast today! The food was superb as always! Started with the tub of garlic and fresh baked bread and it was amazing! Hubby got the 1 pound ribeye steak accompanied with garlic mashed potatoes and I opted for the 40 clove chicken... Both dishes were superb! Finished it off with their homemade garlic ice cream, and I couldn't have been happier with our fair today! Very reasonably priced, great service and I can't wait to get back!

What originally started as a disappointment became a huge blessing once we found the board room. Feet aching, sweaty, and tired we made our way to this bar. Immediately you could tell it's a local favorite, the ambiance was nice and a great spot to people-watch. There was a cup flipping event which was super fun to spectate, along side the rotating pictures of the bar's beloved pooches . We ordered 2 western burgers, 12 count bone-in wings (half bbq, half Hawaiian), and an appetizer of corn dogs, tater tots, bacon Mac & cheese bites, and mozzarella sticks. Later we also added boneless buffalo wings which were so tangy, well-seasoned, and HOT. The western bacon burgers were so delicious, crispy bacon, crispy onion rings, and some bomb.com bbq sauce. The wings were drowned in sauce (just how we like them) , the bbq was to die for and the Hawaiian had the perfect little kick of spice for our picky eaters. The appetizer platter was also fried to perfection, with the perfect crunch on the tater tots & corn dogs. The Mac & cheese bites & mozzarella sticks were perfectly cheesed, with an amazing cheese pull on the mozzarella sticks. Along with the food, my boyfriend and I ordered some drinks. I got a margarita and he got a Guinness. Both drinks were good, very standard and well served. The couple behind the bar were very funny and super kind to us being dazed after all the walking. The outdoor patio is definitely a blast for a summer day in SF, also converting to a free Tango class at 6:30 on Wednesday evening. We started with some special drinks as recommended by Ali, the most generous guy you've ever met. We got Japanese Artisan Gin Pomegranate Mint Martini and AB's Espresso Martini. They were so refreshing after we had to walk on some hills in 80degree weather in SF. After that, the appetizers we ordered came out with Caprese Salad & Mahmoud's Delicious Pork Ribs. The portion was huge for just appetizer. It's been a while for me to have that crispy baguette toasted with olive oil & vinegar, nothing could be better than that. The ribs were tender, the bonus point was definitely the sauce as it wasn't too sweet like the other places. You can't miss pizza in an Italian restaurant, so we ordered my favorite Crispy Prosciutto De Parma, Poached Pear. Prosciutto is my love so I'll just order it wherever I go if they have it on the menu. Super crispy, even though it's not as thin as I expected, I'd still order it again when we come back. It's served with a bowl of cheese powder and chili flakes so you can customize your pizza. The main entrees were definitely pasta and we just had our eyes bigger than our stomach. If you don't know what to order, ask Ali and he'll be more than happy to help you with all the recommendations, and even offer some alternatives for your pasta when the restaurant is not too crowded. My favorite was Pasta Dellacasa with Prawns added, mixing of all the sauces they have. It was so rich and I felt like no other pasta we had can be compared. They serve it hot and you can ask for as much cheese as you want for your pasta because they make it at the table for you. The place was really cool since the building was built over 100 years ago. Even the trees we were sitting next to are over 100 years old, which is pretty cool. You can even find the menu when the original place just opened, with pasta price ranged from $2-3.

Pulled up and saw the Valet($18) sign. We know parking it hard to find in that area so we just parked. The sign is for American Bites and the restaurant next to it. Walked in which is totally hidden. I would have never known it was there. We are greater instantly and told to choose any seat. They have indoor and outdoor dining. We chose indoor. Looked over the menu and order a Tequila Sunrise with Don Julio Anejo. Quite tasty Went for the clam chowder appetizer... definitely 5 stars. Flavorful and creamy. I would come back just for that. Daughter ordered the Seafood Linguini with a cream sauce. The waiter kinda questioned it but made it anyway.. They added Parmesan cheese and cracked black pepper at the table. Everything came with a nice crusty bread I order the Ciopinno!! It was one of the best I ever had.. Added Parmesan and cracked pepper of course. Everything was 5star including the service we received. Left there and recommended the place to several friends.. I'll be back soon.

For drinks, they offer a wide variety of cocktails, beers and even mocktails. I decided to go with a mimosa and it was honestly one of the best I've had in a while. You can tell they use fresh orange juice because the flavor was perfectly balanced, not too sweet and not too acidic. Food wise, I ordered the Spanish Burger and it did not disappoint. The burger was fresh, flavorful and clearly made with quality ingredients. It paired perfectly with the crispy fries. The staff were attentive, friendly and service was quick, which made the whole brunch experience even better. Overall, this is a great spot for brunch whether you're a local or visiting the city. I'll definitely be coming back.

Really feels like a hit or miss on the food…read more I have been to Red Window before, at the recommendation of friends, and was surprised to be disappointed by the all the food which came to my table when I dined here before. However, this time I went again with a friend who assured me the food is fantastic and I was a little bit skeptical but it turned out a bit better this time. We ordered a medley of food: the patatas bravas, the flatbread, the albodigas, the crispy paella balls and the crispy cauliflower. I was especially excited for the patatas bravas as I had tasted them before. They were the highlight of my previous time I had dined here. This time was no exception. Exceptionally crispy flaky and fantastic texture with the multiple layers. The crispy paella balls were also excellent, Very flavorful and what a nice slight crunch to their exterior. Unfortunately I was half disappointed by the rest of the food we ordered The flatbread was just alright, and I regretted we didn't do at least one of the add-ons for it as that likely would have improved it a lot. The albondigas were a lot to get through and I'm glad we were sharing the dish. They went well when paired with the other dishes as it was very one-note with getting through each of the meatballs. The crispy cauliflower had good flavor, but surprisingly were far more mushy than crispy. Red Window has a really nice spot on Columbus, great vibe and friendly staff each time I've visited. They have both interior and heated parklet /outdoor seating. However, the food really feels like there's a only a few standouts on the menu and the rest aren't really bringing more to the table. Peek at other reviews before you go to get an idea of the hits on the menu.

Not just the bartender but the manager and the locals hanging out. The drinks were great and the company even better. They gave us some amazing recommendations for some local restaurants and they were all perfect! We will visit again if we ever make it back to San Fran.

While we were outside, we made friendly conversation with a bartender. I overheard another bartender come out for a cigarette and call him by name, so I jokingly used his name while asking if we could come in. At that point, the bartender became extremely aggressive, got in my face, and said, "Say his name one more f*cking time," repeatedly. I was genuinely confused and asked what she meant. Shortly after, a friend who was already inside came out simply to check on us and see why we were still outside. The bartender then told her to "get the f*ck out of my face" and instructed staff not to let her or us in, even though my friend hadn't done anything wrong. It was so confusing and extremely inappropriate. The behavior was unnecessarily hostile and disrespectful. This bar does not treat its customers with basic courtesy, and that bartender showed zero professionalism or customer service skills.
