Thai Basil Pork rice dish - pretty flavorful! Really like the sauce and the rice
Han W.

It's a nice large space with good natural lighting and clean. Order and pickup at the counter. I got my food pretty fast. I thought the price was reasonable (~$18 for an entree), serving size was big, and the dish was well executed. I got the basil pork bowl and the froyo with extra blueberry and honey topping. The ground pork was pretty tasty and not very greasy. The sauce on the side added some good flavor. The froyo was pretty good too. The extra blueberry and honey topping did add a lot of sweetness but it wasn't overpowering. I think this is great spot for a tasty, quick lunch!

Creative and healthy take on Asian fusion bowls! Had the Miso Pom (vegetarian) bowl and was amazed about the depth of flavors. The sweet potato mash was bright and citrusy, I kept finding myself grabbing more. The kale was perfectly massaged with extra dressing on the side. The Chinese tart yogurt reminds me of my childhood, except with a modern and fun take of toppings such as lemon curd, blueberry, and a chocolate cherry almond. The blueberry/lemon was a fan favorite amongst my group! Jackie the owner has put a lot of attention and work into the space. It is thoughtfully curated, bridging a wide variety of Asian cultures into the ambiance as well as the food. She is also really sweet and welcoming. I'm exciting to come back and try more items!

Welcome addition to the SOMA neighborhood! And very glad it's also open on weekends when so many other neighborhood spots are only open Mon-Fri. Hearty Asian bowls in a very spacious restaurant - lots of light, open seating, and restrooms. We ordered the Thai Basil pork and Pear Coconut Curry. Both were very good and filling with fresh ingredients and tender proteins. The flavors are expected, if not out of this world. Will definitely be back!

Came for the frozen yogurt and will DEF be back for it!! Was initially hesitant because of the limited flavor options but I ended up getting both the lemon and blueberry topping and it was delicious!! The yogurt itself isn't too sweet at all, instead a little bit tart and more like Yakult, which paired perfectly with the citrusy fruity toppings. Since it was just yogurt it was ready pretty quickly. Even though I got mine to go there was a large seating area inside and a pretty cute vibe (giving date night!) Will have to come back to try their bowls!

Such a cute place! I went with my friend and even met the owner here - she's super nice! Good: - Food was delicious - loved the thai basil pork and it was very healthy and hearty - great flavor and very tasty - I ate it super fast - Chinese froyo was so good! I felt like the price was much better than Souvla too - The place is beautiful and great for coworking, very quiet and calm inside and modern. - Food comes out very quickly Bad: - The area it's in is more sketchy and empty Overall this was such a cute find and I'll be back!

The chicken is well cooked! Juicy and tender. Lots of bathrooms Also try the Chinese style frozen yogurt, you won't find it anywhere else in the city

Miso Pom Harvest Bowl with modifications
Matt J.

I am grateful I finally got to try Yuja since it's been on my list for months, but the location makes it tricky to visit. Though the exterior surroundings (which include the Bay Bridge onramp and challenging parking) are stressful, the space itself is calming and removed from the relative chaos just outside. The people manning the counter were also welcoming and helpful, adding to the serene atmosphere of the tastefully decorated space. As for the cuisine, I need a second visit to know exactly where I land; another order would help solidify its status in my rotation and determine if it's worth a routine trip across town. Part of my uncertainty comes from the fact that I customized my dish heavily, rendering my Miso Pom Harvest Bowl fairly different than the exact one on the menu. I subbed wok veg for potatoes and subbed charred scallion dressing for herby tahini dressing. That said, their delivery apps make these modifications very easy, so I believe the modularity of the menu is part of the appeal. In fact, the availability of modifications could be a highlight of their menu and they should lean into that style of cuisine. The menu is already on the cusp of the build-your-own bowl genre; they could embrace it, while still being a clear cut above the Sweetgreens of the world. Many of the dishes are only differentiated by a couple ingredients so allowing the customer to choose the base, protein and sauce would make it a simpler experience without axing any of the offerings. As for the food I got, the broccoli and beets were well-roasted, the kale was nicely chopped and the miso pomegranate squash dip was a real highlight (though they should give twice as much!). Basically, I enjoyed my meal and think there is great potential but a minor overhaul of the menu would make it worth parking in that part of town.

Kale caesar with tofu
Maya R.

This restaurant just opened near my apartment, so I was excited to give it a try! We ordered the Kale Caesar with tofu and the Shaking Beef bowl. The Kale Caesar unfortunately didn't have enough dressing -- I actually ended up adding some from home -- but the kale itself was nicely massaged and flavorful, which I appreciated. The tofu was a bit on the dry side, though the crispy wontons were a nice touch. My sister-in-law ordered the Shaking Beef and, unfortunately, found a hair in her bowl. We'd already had a long night, so we decided not to go back to the restaurant. That said, the Shaking Beef itself was more flavorful to both of us, and the chimichurri sauce was delicious. I'm curious to try a few other bowls for the convenience factor, but I'm not in a rush to return. It pains me to write this since it's such a new restaurant -- I really wanted to love it -- but I'm sharing my honest experience. Hopefully, they iron out these small issues because the menu definitely has potential!

Blueberry Lemon Froyo

Everything in the bowl was cooked perfectly including the salmon which was really tender. The ambiance inside is nice as well.

Market salad with salmon (partially eaten).

Very healthy food! I had the market salad - they massaged the kale lightly dressed so even if you're not a kale lover (like me), it was quite enjoyable. It also came with small cubes of beets and citrus - the small size actually made a difference in how they were included in every bite. Toasted almonds added a crunch. The bowl comes with fingerling potatoes perfectly cooked so you get a creaminess. Sweet mashed potatoes add a colorful, sweet touch. I added salmon to my salad - perfectly cooked to retain moistness. Since I'm trying to eat more heart-healthy, I will definitely try again though it's way out of my neighborhood. It's counter service. The room has super high ceilings that make the place feel cavernous. It's a utilitarian cafe decor, not really a restaurant. They don't have great signage - you've likely passed it a gazillion times if you've ever driven the bay bridge. They could light up their windows better!

I wanted to check out a new lunch spot, and was so pleasantly surprised! Cameron at the counter was so helpful, and walked me through the different options. Great, healthy, casual bowls. The indoor space is inviting and warm. I'll have to come back to try the frozen yogurt, and would love if they were able to add coffee to the menu!

New spot worth checking out with a really cool indoor space! I tried the Thai Basil Bowl with chicken and a side of pork--everything was so flavorful, especially the sauce that came with the bowl. The tofu looked amazing too, and I can't wait to try it next time. Such a great place for fresh, healthy food with bold Asian flavors.

Thai Basil Pork Bowl 5/5

I loved Yuja so much that I went two days in a row because it is just that good. I've tried the Shaking Beef, Thai Basil Pork, and the Miso Pomegranate Harvest Bowl with Salmon, and every bite was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Each bowl comes with a delicious sauce, and they even have a limited selection of beer and wine, which makes it such a cozy spot to relax. Jackie, the owner, is the sweetest. She greets every customer with a smile and takes the time to chat and ask for feedback, making every visit feel warm and personal. The space is bright, modern, and spacious, and adding coffee or matcha to the menu would make it the perfect spot to linger even longer. Yuja has quickly become one of my favorite places, and I can't wait to come back.

The rice is so tasty - it's the chicken broth rice type (NOT vegetarian). And I liked the garnishes that came with it. There is quite a bit of good seasoning on it, including sesame seeds, dill, etc. so you actually don't really need a sauce in my opinion. I got the chimichurri and it was more sauce-based than the traditional oil-base, which I really liked. I also ordered a side of Brussels sprouts and it was a good portion with aioli. For me personally, I thought it was pretty salty. Service is casual - you walk up to the counter, order and get a number. It's quick and easy.

Baked potato was good but needed extra salt or butter to really jazz it up. 3. Quarter chicken was sooo juicy and flavorful 4. Artichoke needed some level of salt to even out the heavy lemon but well cooked nonetheless 5. Brussel sprouts were flawless 6. The sorbet is amazing! It's how I expect strawberry ice cream to taste but lighter and fresher. Overall, would I come back? Absolutely Would I recommend it to a friend? Already done lol

If you're craving something refreshing, light, and fruity, the Sonoma is a must. The pears take it to the next level and give it that perfect sweet, crisp bite that makes every forkful feel extra refreshing. It's the kind of bowl you order when you want to feel bright and satisfied. Now if you're in the mood for something warm, crunchy, and nutty, the Bangkok Bowl is your girl. The texture, the richness, the cozy vibes -- chef's kiss. It's hearty without being heavy and hits all the comfort-food notes. And can we talk about portions?! These bowls are NO joke. I swear I made a huge dent in mine, looked down thinking I was almost done... only to realize I basically still had a whole second meal left. Instant take-home win. On top of all that, the staff is super friendly, the space is clean, bright, and welcoming, and the whole experience just feels good from start to finish. I came for the seasonal menu but I'll definitely be back for everything else too. If you're debating what to order: Sonoma for fresh + fruity, Bangkok for warm + crunchy -- you truly can't go wrong!

The tables are a bit low and awkward to eat at, but the ambiance is immaculate. You can even get beer and wine here to complete the vibe. I will always love a MIXT salad. The ingredients are fresh, well-prepared, and fairly portioned. You can eat well and healthily and it's not unreasonably priced. I still mourn the loss of the green Goddess dressing... But I'll keep coming back regardless. It's that good.

I realized I had not added seating accommodation to my reservation and tried to call, but no one answered. When we arrived, the hostess told us we would not be able to sit in any of the currently empty booths because reservations were coming in later. We were seated at a table off the dining space near the kitchen, my mom was a little too chilly and the booth didn't have enough neck support. I expressed to the host that though I was sorry I had forgotten to add accommodation, that this was just not the way to handle the problem. I was able to speak to the manager, who had been outside taking orders and was clearly working very hard that day. (Her name is quite uncommon so I'm just going to call her M, but I really appreciate your help!) She asked me what my concern was, and I told her, at which point she asked me to wait nearby while she figured out if she could rearrange some tables for us. The bartender was incredibly kind and served me while I waited, and distracted me from imminent tears by sharing intricate details about each drink he was making. I learned do they have a myriad of health oriented cocktails, with ingredients like turmeric, ginger, and aloe liqueur. The manager returned and said that she had already seated my mother in a new space and escorted me to the table, which allowed me to relax and enjoy the meal. At the beginning of the menu, they list the ingredients that are currently in season, and at the back of the menu, there is a color wheel, telling you the benefits of the colors of food. (Purple foods can assist with memory and brain function!). We ordered the asparagus, which was in season, spicy cucumber, and the Aji grill for two. The tofu that came with the grill for two was my favorite thing that we ate. I think you can judge a vegan / vegetarian restaurant by their treatment of tofu. Perfectly seasoned with a crispy outside and I would come back just for this. The cauliflower steak was also pretty tasty. The cocktails are excellent, we tried the BLACKPINK and my mother tried the espressotini and we were really happy with both. I don't know how popular their bar scene is, but I imagine it would be a nice way to meet other vegan and vegetarian folks over light bites. Our waiter Daniel made sure to give us the Mother's Day special dessert the restaurant had created, which was an avocado Grenache with fresh berries. If the experience had started with less stress, this review would be five stars, but I'm very grateful to the staff for doing what they could to correct it and ensure that we had a great Mother's Day! I would love to visit again and update my review :)

Riding the N-Judah MUNI line westward, I passed by this particular location often and stopped by for a quick lunch. I must've forgotten how big their salads were because I was overwhelmed by the size of the bowl for the $19.95 Thai Chicken Salad. It was quite a fresh and satisfying mix between the thin slices of chili-lime Mary's chicken, carrot, snow peas, cabbage, scallion, herb mix, peanuts, sesame seeds, crispy wonton strips, and house romaine, all tossed with peanut-sambal dressing (Photo 10). I couldn't finish it, not even close. Further illustrating my lack of common sense, I ordered the $4.25 side of French Fries which came piled in a slightly smaller bowl (Photo 9).
