This is my second time visiting this location. I came in around 6:30 p.m. on a Wednesday. And I was able to be sat immediately. I was greeted with water and menus. I already knew what I wanted, cucumber salad and yellow curry with chicken. It is so good. I love the cucumber salad but I have to pick off the onions. The curry has such great flavor and big chunks of carrots and potatoes and chicken. Highly recommend. Anywho, I'll definitely be back!

Feels like a standard Thai fare when it came to the pad see you (spelt like that) and pad kee mow -- the flavor and saltiness level was just right for us, the noodles don't break, and the portion size is reasonable. The aloha fried chicken was creative - the chicken was quite crunchy, yet the batter was not too thick like you might find at other restaurants. The pineapple is refreshing and goes well with the crunchy chicken. The hot sauce was crazy hot though! Service was reasonable ( food took about 10-15 minutes to come out -- dishes came out one at a time surprisingly) but otherwise unremarkable. Ambiance was average -- seats were a bit dirty.

Been meaning to try this place and it didn't disappoint! Dropped by for dinner ~5:16pm on a Wednesday. The place was empty since they had just started dinner service, so we were seated immediately. What we got: - Salmon Rolls ~ This was sooo good! Crispy on the outside and succulently juicy on the inside, this dish was a great start! - Massaman Nuea ~ The flavor for this dish was amazing. The coconut curry was perfectly sweet from the shallots and vegetables and paired perfectly with the roti. However, the braised beef was on the drier and saltier side - best eaten when shredded and mixed with the curry! - Kabocha Curry ~ Served with a side of rice and crispy pork belly as the choice of meat, this was decent. A cozy well-rounded dish. - Pad See You ~ a solid staple for the table! For a table of three, three main dishes and one appetizer were enough food for us to share. And we had extra to take home! For a Wednesday dinner service, the place wasn't packed, and service was very attentive. With a quieter and darker ambiance, it's great for a dinner night out!

Came here with a friend for some Thai food on New Year's Eve! The service was great, and the servers were attentive and very nice, filling up our waters and checking up on us periodically! I also really enjoyed the ambiance! They had decorated for Christmas, so there was tree and some Santa decor, which was quite nice for the holiday season. I also really liked their chairs, which were very comfy! I got the Pad See Ew, with a side of the bone broth. The bone broth was flavorful and very peppery, which I enjoyed. The noodles were very delicious as well - not too chewy but still a good amount of chew, and the food in general was not too salty or oily! Overall, I really liked my meal, and would come back again to try new dishes. My friend got the Aloha Fried Chicken, and it looked like a feast! We were both pleasantly surprised by the presentation. She said she really liked her dish, would order again, and the portions were big enough that she took some home as leftovers! Overall, definitely a 10/10 dining experience, and I would come back again to try new dishes :)

Came here with a friend on a Friday night before a nearby concert and it was such a good find! Ambiance and decor was beautiful, not too busy. Here's what we ordered: Drinks : Fresh young Coconut Milk 4/5 Fresh. My friend enjoyed her drink but also we can just go to the asian market and get it there too. Felt like a nice treat. Thai Iced Tea - 4/5 Yummy, and I even had enough to take to go on the way to the concert venue. Appetizer - Chicken Satay 6/5 - WE SAW THIS ON ANOTHER REVIEW- Very yummy, the peanut sauce and cucumbers with it were refreshing. Entrees: Pad See You - 4/5 Good. Standard and flavorful. Good portion size too. Kobucha Curry w/ Sun Rice - 5/5 Delicious! Tried out the sun rice and it paired well we thought. Honestly, we were really pleased with our food and just glad to find a new place that turned out to be good too! We shared between the two of us and honestly we were stuffed. Would definitely come again.

Food was so scrumptious that I'd eat here anytime of day... perhaps you could say in both sun & moon Favorite dishes were the massaman nuea & pad see ew. Honorable mention to the corn cake appetizer as well! SoMa is lucky to have this place in the neighborhood. Very welcoming service and spacious interior. Wish we had enough stomach room for the dessert sampler!

The interior is such a vibe and is a walking distance of the Caltrain station. :) Both times I arrived, I got there right at opening time, and I had to wait a few minutes for the workers to let us in. The first time I went, I got the kabocha curry and it was sooooooo good, I literally could not stop thinking about it for a whole week so I came back a week later with my boyfriend LOL. I would recommend eating the curry it while it is still warm/hot :) It also comes with a bowl of rice with kabocha bits in it. At my second visit, we tried the Corn Crab Cakes and it was delicious! At the end of the meal, we tried the Sun & Moon Platter which had all 3 of the desserts - mango sticky rice, banana rolls, and mochi ice cream + dorayaki. I would pass on this tbh unless you know you will like all 3 desserts. I learned that dorayaki wasn't something I particularly enjoyed, it was a little too dry and unexciting for me. If I were to order dessert, I would go with the mango sticky rice or fried banana fritters. Would love to come here again!

Visited on a weekday for lunch and the restaurant was pleased with my menu. It was very familiar and I recall coming here when it was a different name. The restaurant is open and spacious lit by natural lighting. We were seated at a table by window, so it was quite nice. The menu was simple and offered a great variety of Thai curries and noodles and some ramen bowls. We decided on Thai lunch and we ordered the corn crab cakes, kaboucha curry and pad see ewe. Our orders came out quickly. The corn was fried crispy and topped with crab meat...it was really delicious. The crispness of the fried corn had a nice texture and complimented the crab meat well. I enjoyed my pad see ewe--the wide rice noodles with both American & Chinese broccoli. It was nicely seasoned, not overly salty. The staff was attentive and refilled our water glasses regularly. If you're in the area or looking for a nice meal before any event at Oracle Park or Chase Center...it's a great place to come. The food did not disappoint.

If you're looking for good Thai food in the city, you need to try Sun and Moon! A hidden gem in SOMA with lots of parking nearby and perfect for groups of all sizes. It was super easy to get a last minute table and the staff was very accommodating. Ordered the chicken satay, fresh rolls, chicken pad see ew and the mango with sticky rice. Everything was well done and perfectly seasoned. The food was great and loved the presentation for each dish. Pretty sure the kitchen also adjusted portions for our group of three so everyone had equal bites.

Overall a good experience at Sun and Moon. The staff were very welcoming and we sat right away. The restaurant has a good amount of space, with some tables large enough to accommodate 8-10 people. The location is about a 15 minute walk from Oracle Park too. I had the Pad See You with chicken which was really good, and it was a generous portion, so I definitely had left overs. The Thai Iced tea was really good as well!

Mango sticky rice. A bit small.

I really enjoy pumpkin curry at thai places and this is no exception. Probably one of the best iterations of the curry I've had in SF. It comes with a side of rice and meat costs a bit extra. It's got a good balance of sweetness, creaminess, and spiciness that keeps me coming back. The kabocha pieces are abundant, and even though I added chicken, I don't think I even noticed because I was gorging on the kabocha. I also got the mango sticky rice. It was okay, but $15 for such a small portion doesn't make me want to buy it again. I also wished the coconut cream sauce was a little thicker as well. Overall it's a great lunch spot.

    Pad Gra Pow
    Zac S.

The food was absolutely delicious, the kakuni was flavorful and tender, the pad gra pow was the perfect level of spicy! with the cute aesthetic and nice plating I would expect the food to be more expensive but it was only $60 for both meals! the service was fantastic and the waiters were quick to come over

I was by myself and wanted to have a quick eat. This place has unique ramen so I decided to come again (also SF/bay area only in the US). We were a large group of 15, including several kids, and we completely understand that the restaurant is small and accommodating a group our size can be challenging. We waited in line for almost an hour with around 6 children. During the wait, a staff member named Sue came outside, asked how many people were in our group, and handed us menus. Since it was our first visit, we were naturally asking questions and trying to understand the menu. Unfortunately, throughout the interaction, her body language and expressions felt impatient and unwelcoming. There was visible frustration and eye-rolling, which made us feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. Even after we were seated, the experience continued to feel tense. One of the toddlers in our group started crying briefly -- something fairly common with young children -- and we were told to "keep it low out of respect." While we absolutely respect other diners, the way it was communicated felt lacking in empathy, especially on a busy Mother's Day with families dining out. A small gesture of kindness or understanding could have gone a long way. Instead, my friend felt compelled to take the child outside, which was disappointing. Additionally, after being seated, we had to remind the staff multiple times to come take our orders. What makes this especially unfortunate is that the ramen itself was truly delicious and lived up to the hype. The food was excellent, which is why this experience was so disappointing overall. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customer service and hospitality matter just as much as the food experience. Unfortunately, this was not the ideal way to end our Mother's Day celebration.

They not only refunded the ramen with the issue but generously refunded the entire meal for our party. I truly appreciate the follow-up, accountability, and care--it made a big difference. I came to Hinodeya Ramen today with my partner, and this visit was really disappointing, especially considering I've been coming here for years. On a positive note, my Tokyo Duck ramen was actually very good, great portion and rich, flavorful broth. We also had gyoza and hot sake, which were enjoyable. Ambiance was a bit noisy. However, my partner ordered the beef sukiyaki ramen, and when it came out, there was a thick, short, wavy hair in the bowl, clearly not something that should ever be in food. This is a serious contamination issue. We tried to get our server's attention, and I understand it was busy, but being busy is not an excuse when it comes to food safety. Eventually, another server came over. We showed him the issue, expecting at least a proper apology or some explanation of what happened. Instead, he just took the bowl away and said a quick "I'm sorry" no explanation, no reassurance, nothing. They brought out a new bowl of ramen, but at that point, the experience was already ruined. It's hard to continue eating normally after something like that, it honestly just stays in your mind. What makes this more frustrating is that I've been here many times before with friends, family, and coworkers, and when everything goes right, it's great. But when something goes wrong, the response is just a simple "sorry" with no accountability or communication. Even on my last visit a few months ago, the broth was bland and the response was the same just "I'm sorry." At a minimum, for an issue this serious, there should be clear communication, reassurance about food safety, and a more professional response. Because of both past and current experiences, I don't think I'll be coming back. I really hope they improve their service and train staff to handle serious situations like this more appropriately.

The wait for a table was 20 mins or we can share a large table with random people and be seated immediately. We were hungry. We went with the large shared table. Pleasantly, there was more than enough room. There were at least 1-2 seats in between the three groups on each side that were there- a solo diner, a small family of 3, and my group of 4. I ordered the Karaka Spicy, my bf ordered Akamaru Modern, his sister ordered Miso, and I don't remember what her friend got- I think it was also Karaka spicy. My bf and I ordered the Treasure plate on the side to share and a side of spicy paste because I know Japanese spicy is barely spicy (from someone who grew up eating SEA spicy). Karaka Spicy had a nicely balance tonkotsu mouth feel and pork flavor. Broth was a little salty. I was correct to assume that it wasn't spicy because I used half of the side of spicy paste and I still didn't think it was spicy enough. Chashu was cooked fine. Notes: - I wished I would've asked if they could swap the thin noodles for the thick ones. I love the chew thicker noodles provide. - Noodles were cooked al dente. Akamaru Modern tasted very similar to Karaka spicy without the spicy. My bf used the other half of the spicy paste as dip for his toppings. He enjoyed it. Miso was a lighter broth (obvi) with a good umami flavor and was not watered down. Solid. She loved it. I have never seen her finish a whole bowl of ramen before. There was a server in training that took our order with the help of the trainer- he did great. Staff was attentive with our waters. Bussers were also quick to notice and remove empty plates and bowls regularly making for an easy clean up after we leave and kept the shared table clutter free. Interior was modern, but casual. We asked our waiter if we could have a little more heat, and he nodded and brought over a tiny dipping-bowl-sized portion of some red paste with no explanation. There was no mention that it would cost extra. After finishing our meal, we were surprised to see a $5 charge on the bill for the "extra spice." I kept peeking out of my hotel window and by 7:30pm, line was almost non existent, so that's when I went down to get dinner. When I arrived, I was immediately shown a seat inside. You can sit outside too as lots of tables right on the street but it was way too cold for me. Service was quick and I ordered a Yuzu Zen (vegan) ramen. I wanted to try something different than their signature ramen. This ramen was cooked in the traditional Japanese Buddhist temple way, which was a bonus for me. I am a practicing Buddhist and have meditated at various different temple organizations and I enjoy temple cooking as its usually lighter but still very soul nourishing. The broth is lighter and its a vegan dashi broth and comes with zest of yuzu (its like a Japanese lemon), bamboo shoots, crispy kale and sweet fried tofu. I enjoyed this bowl of noodles with soup and the broth was hot, so it warmed me up. I was not really a fan of the inari (sweet fried tofu) as it was just too sweet for me.
