Tycoon Kitchen has been quite the prominent feature in my rotation of office lunches, and I've been impressed every single time by the consistency and quality of their food, the efficiency of their service (especially with only such a small kitchen), and how friendly the staff and owner are. My go-to is their eggplant and tofu stir-fry, which often seems to take a few extra minutes to prepare, so the owner will often offer me a free Thai tea or spring rolls for waiting for what he considers a long time but what I think is perfectly reasonable given how busy they are. To make things more efficient, they also have two kiosks outside that you can order on, or you can poke your head inside if you'd rather speak to someone live. The food is absolutely delicious, and I love how flavorful everything is (including the tofu -- a rare sight these days)! The portions are also quite generous. I had a really delicious lunch at Tycoon Kitchen while in town for a work conference. My friend and I just happened to be near it on our hunt for Match and I'm so glad I tried them. It's very unassuming and small. There's a couple tables and chairs inside and outside, so I was happy for that. You order via a kiosk out front and they bring it out to you. I think I only say one person, so seems like a very self sufficient spot. I ordered the crispy egg rolls and they were freshly made and delicious. The sauce that came with them was also really good! Everyone in our group (even those with dietary restrictions or picky eaters) found something they loved. While most folks opted for a noodle dish like pad Thai, the salmon in the curry sauce was speaking to me. It came with the filet, a bed of rice, veggies like bok choy and the curry sauce in a container on the side. There was seriously nothing not to love. We had an order of the summer rolls to share amongst our group and they were fresh and crunchy and delicious as well. The soup did have a great flavor, and I found myself throwing it back the last drops of soup like I a shot of whiskey. Everybody loved the spring and veggie egg rolls and I heard no complaints about the other dishes. One person in my lunch group ordered the curry, salmon and said it was very good! I was able to order our entire lunch via their Yelp page and select a time for pickup. Everything was super smooth, and the staff was on top of the game even though they were slammed. He had come by already since he works nearby and told me straight away that they have good Hainan chicken. It took me a while to try it, but I walked over a little later in the afternoon to find a mass of people waiting for their takeout orders. It turned out to be a group from the same company because they walked together in a pack. Meanwhile I made my order on the touchscreen and waited patiently for my order. Once I got my food, I went up to the rainbow table area of the rooftop park where I was immediately hit with high winds as a cheery woman was trying mightily to conduct a yoga class. Of course I ordered the $17 Hainan Chicken, slow-cooked boiled chicken thigh topped with fried onion bits with poached egg, ginger-infused rice, cucumber slices, and cilantro (photo: https://bit.ly/475rICj). They have two iPad stands outside and we ordered togo through that since inside is pretty small. We got the Bo Luc Lac (traditionally a Vietnamese dish with rice or noodles); they served it with a salad (not pictured but still good), amazing garlic bread like homies smeared real garlic everywhere & topped it with a layer of parm, and lots of cubed potatoes. I think this is more of a takeout place but of course if you need an area to sit to eat, Salesforce park is right upstairs! I appreciated the side of fresh fruit too. For $14 it was magnificent. You can also pay more for a combo to add eggs and meat but that sounded like too much for me at the time. My bf got the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich which was also tasty in its simplicity. It came with a huge side of fries which we didn't expect, but they were very good too! Crispy and thin cut, just how I like it. Again for $9 this was a great deal. I got a dalgona coffee (remember the hype a few years back?) Right at the central transit station and minutes away from BART. Was in downtown SF for a business meeting and had lunch here with some co-workers. Quite a lot of options from sandwiches to curry and Hainan Chicken rice which was random but interesting. Food wasn't bad but pricy after taxes and fees. I really like the spicy chicken sandwich. I always order ahead and pick up. The wait is short and Friday is Free drink Friday. I usually get a Thai iced tea that usually like $5. The sandwich and fries is about $15 to $16. It's a good value and the sandwich is delicious. Service is friendly. Highly recommend! read more
