I know absolutely nothing about kombucha. I know it's one of those fermented drinks that attracts its share of obsessives. I only found out after the fact that the Karabiyik brothers, who own this compact cafe, started a kombucha brewery and discovered the value of food pairings in selling their product. Their Harrison Street location is definitely off any path I follow in SoMa, but I thought it would be worth the detour to try some enticing comfort food. Gratefully I was right. The menu is full of Turkish temptations starting with appetizers like an eggless shakshuka and a meze plate as well as various burgers and wraps including a vegan version with lentil miso. My palate was drawn to the $26 Lamb Kebab Plate (Photo 9). A bit pricey but a definite winner with a generous serving of tandoori-style pulled lamb mixed with tomato sauce and roasted red pepper and layered over finely diced pita. Bulgur pilaf, yogurt, and seasoned chickpeas were served on the side. The flavor combinations really worked well together, and there was plenty for a second meal takeout. Even though I only noticed later in my photo that they offer their own kombucha, I just went with a refreshing $3 can of Strawberry Sparkling Water (Photo 8). As it was my first time visiting, I thought seating was limited, but I noticed diners coming out of the back. Good to know for the next visit. FOOD - 5 stars...pricey but honestly one of the most satisfying Turkish plates I've had in the city AMBIANCE - 4 stars...small and busy during the lunch hour but comfortable once seated SERVICE - 4.5 stars...cordial TOTAL - 5 stars...definitely a new occasional go-to for me RELATED - Exploring eastern SoMa? Perfect spot to end my time in San Francisco. The 2 level interior is beautifully decorated and very relaxing. I didn't try, but many others were ordering from the varied kombucha selections. There are lots of options for vegetarians, and I enjoyed my bulgur bowl with added tofu. Service was polite, and I left with a content mind and tummy.

Came here for a lunch with a friend and this place was so cute! Good: - The bowl was so good - I liked how there were all kinds of veggies and I added the meatballs that added so much - The place is super cute and clean - it's small so there isn't a ton of seating but at 2 pm on a Wednesday it wasn't too bad - Portion size is really good - felt like I got good bang for buck and was full Bad: - The wait time can be long when there isn't too much staff inside Overall this was super memorable and the food was so delicious, I'll be back!

Decided to try this place. All three of our meals were good. Staff was friendly & helpful. They have a large upstairs dining area in addition to a small dining area downstairs. lol the front door is kinda sticky - push hard!

The taproom has a bright, airy feel that makes it an easy place to lose track of time while you sip. The kombucha itself is exceptionally crisp and clean, avoiding that overly vinegary bite you sometimes find with lesser brews. I was also really impressed by how quickly they get you poured and settled, even when the weekend crowd starts rolling in.

Went in person this time and service was friendly and amazing. The place was cute. I had the Mediterranean wrap and kombucha again - still really good. Coffee was also amazing.

What a truly special place! As soon as I began to plan a trip to the Bay Area, I knew I had to check out Boochmania, which seems to be the only kombucha taproom in the entire region. This place is doing a lot in a small space! They brew their own kombucha and have a fairly extensive menu of Levantine cuisine with an emphasis on fermented foods such as a fermented hummus. They also have other fascinating ferments such as chicha morada (a fermented purple corn beverage). They are a family-run business that moved from Berkeley to San Francisco after the pandemic. Due to limited time in the area, I didn't have the chance to have a meal here but needed to try their kombucha. They are generous with the samples, so my friends and I tried everything and then sat down for some flights of kombucha. The flights are served in enormous glasses which we appreciated! We also really enjoyed the complimentary mixed nuts. What hospitality. Overall, the kombucha skews very mild in flavor. The boldest one was the currant clove, which was sweet and tasty. The rose and lavender and rose ones also had pleasant flavor. A lot of others such as the ginger sage were extremely mild. They are all very low in sugar and calories. I'm looking forward to making another trip here as soon as possible, so I can try the fermented hummus, the chicha morada, and whatever other concoctions they have at the moment!

This one came highly recommended by ChatGPT and boy! she was not wrong. What a find! The food was different (in a good way) and the hospitality of this family run joint was out of the world. This is Mediterranean/Levant food with a twist and some excellent kombucha to go with it. We tried the hummus, the quinoa plate with vegetables and the chicken burger with potatoes wedges. Everything was delicious and original. I am going to come back for more.

Come by for an amazing spread of authentic Turkish food paired with refreshing home brewed kombucha! This is a family owned business with homemade delicious food thoughtfully presented (dishware were sourced directly from the owners' hometown village in Turkey or local artisans in the Bay Area. Turkish coffee here is some of the best!

Amazing hidden gem! I had this place bookmarked on Yelp since a long time and finally had the chance to visit over the weekend. Loved the vibe of this cute place. They have several vegan options. Pretty much all the items are with fermented foods. We got fermented hummus, shakshuka, Kisir/Tabbouleh. The portion sizes are pretty good, although they are sizes, 3 of them were enough for the 2 people. The food came pretty quickly. Kombuchas are great too, esp the Currant Clove- it has hint of clove and very refreshing. The owner, Betul was super nice and friendly. All in all, a great place and looking forward to going back soon. We also tried a couple of different kombuchas which they are known for.

Stopped in for a quick bite and was welcomed with a delicious cappuccino with complimentary cookies! Shared a delicious kofte plate and a currant kombucha on tap. The staff were super helpful and the decor was cute with little succulents everywhere. Will definitely be back!

This is the cutest little cafe and lunch spot. The location is a bit random but trust me it's worth visiting. Excellent quality and flavor with attention to detail. The ambiance is warm and charming and timeless. I got a whole milk latte that was served with little cookies. I also got a quinoa bowl and added chicken. The name comes from their specialty making kombucha. I tried the unicorn tail which was light and refreshing and a beautiful luminous blue color from the Spirulina in it. Everything was delicious and the owners are charming people. I'm so happy to have Boochmania in the neighborhood.

Hi! Are all of your dishes completely plant-based (vegan)? Also, is it possible to get kombucha to-go in a glass bottle or bring your own container? Thanks!

No, they have many vegan dishes, but their menu is not completely vegan. And I believe they refill containers of kombucha.

I ordered the chicken and beef kabob plate, and while the meat was flavorful, I wish they included more hummus. At around $25- $30 per plate, I expected a more generous portion. I ordered takeout and arrived about an hour later because the app never updated to show my order was ready. Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and they didn't start preparing my food until I got there. I mentioned that I had placed the order an hour earlier and expected it to be ready, but the server seemed to brush off my concern, which was disappointing. One highlight was the hot sauce. I'm not sure if it's house-made or not, but it's so good. The pita, however, was a letdown. I prefer my pita soft, fluffy, and warm, but this one was hard and grainy. Overall, it's a cute restaurant with decent food, but it isn't my top choice.

The kebabs were made with chicken breast, but very tender and moist, and the side of hummus was fresh, creamy and delicious. We also tried the sangria which was great- not too sweet and decently strong (not watered down bad wine). For dessert, the lemon cake was tasty but odd that dried cranberries were sprinkled into the whipped cream. I appreciated the variety offered on the menu- not just typical Greek food you find everywhere else that touts "Mediterranean food". The Stuffed falafel was so good and huge 1 is enough for 2 people. The mosabaha was very refreshing and so good. The meat combo was good overall and everything was very herbally spiced, I wasn't impressed by the lamb tho but the kebab, hummus, and chicken were great! Being married into a family that specializes in Mediterranean cuisine, I admit I'm a bit biased. I arrived around 5:45PM and they had a few spots open. They have a good amount of tables, and the interior decor makes the entire spot feel elevated. I placed my order around 6PM and received my food around 6:40PM. I ordered a falafel appetizer and paired it with a Mixed Grill Kebab and a Beyti. The falafel was really crunchy and flavorful, and overall tasted freshly made. The Beyti was a more riskier dish we ordered, as we aren't as familiar with Mediterranean cuisine. It's basically the meat from the Kofte Kebab wrapped in a bread, with seasoned yogurt as dipping sauce. Since we were familiar with the Kofte taste, this dish was a good twist on the flavor and I would definitely recommend it, especially as a shareable plate! The Mixed Grill Kebeb took the show, because how can a chicken breast be so juicy? We ordered this one to taste all this establishment had to offer, and the chicken was arguably better than the lamb. The chicken breast was super juicy and flavorful, but the lamb felt a little under-seasoned and could've used a little bit more salt. Not a big fan of the gamey taste of lamb, but the lamb chop here had very little - to a point where it tasted GOOD. The seasoning they use is magical, and the hints of cumin mask the taste exceptionally well. Did I mention big portions and good service? I love how this place diverges from the small SF portions and gives you a fulfilling meal with leftovers if needed. We are so accustomed to not taking home leftovers when I remember getting leftovers everytime pre covid! Bursa is an amazing place to take the parents, the inlaws, or even visiting friends to experience one of the many pockets of SF's vibrant districts while getting yummy food without paying tech bro prices. I look forward to coming back, but wish I didn't exhaust all my conversation topics before finishing my meal.
