Love the 5oz options. Able to try different types of beer. Place has lots of seating and pretty airy. Outside seating too. Service is ok, wasn't greeted when we walked in but kind when ordered.

this may be a bias opinion because i do love a brewery but this is your classic, go to neighborhood brewery. they have so many options for beer and cider. the service was great and there was a lot of seating options. my friend and i both got the 5 oz, 4 drinks, beer flight. we both got a mixture of beer and cider. all of them were tasty and it was a fun way to try different options. it was also only $12 which was a great price. the pretzel and cheese were also really good. highly recommend this if you're looking for a chill vibe and want a variety of beer. great prices!

We stopped in during a street festival in mid October. We hadn't heard of this place before. My wife got a strawberry kiwi sour, which she loved. I got their only available West coast IPA. It was very good. We shared one large hot pretzel. It was hot and soft. The mustard was tasty too. But the cheese seemed to be Velveeta, disappointing. Otherwise the place and the people were great. I'd stop by again when in the area.

We stopped by Hapa again since we had a good time our first visit. Unfortunately, this time was a miss in terms of service. The employee working behind the bar was curt and rude to us and everyone else. We didn't appreciate his attitude, and as we were enjoying our drinks, we saw other patrons also get frustrated at his behavior. Given how many other breweries there are in San Carlos/Belmont, we probably won't come back again for a while.

Nice large space, order at the counter. We really enjoyed our sours (the one named pesky penguin!). Good flavor and easy to drink. Nice combination of various berries. The prickly puffin (the other sour on the menu) was a lot more tart in comparison. We were able to sample both before deciding on our order, so thank you to the kind staff member! They were friendly. The lager was also pretty good (uncut gem). There was a decent selection of some bites to eat, we went with the gourmet grilled cheese. It came with some chips too. Nice. You could taste the brie in the sandwich. Loved the pickle on the side. Good spot for a chat and hangout. TV playing sports, chill atmosphere.

Craft brewery, relaxed environment, games, tv's, high chair, food and decent beer selection. Came here on a Saturday to check this new location out and am glad we were able to snag a bench. They have several locations in the South Bay. They have more than a hand full of IPA's to choose from, a light beer, couple ales, stout, sour, seltzer and wine. We got a couple beers, hungry dog ipa, orchard ipa and a sour. My friends said their IPA's were okay but I really enjoyed my loopy lemur sour (strawberry kiwi flavor). Not too sour and goes down smoothly. We shared chili nachos, it came out quickly and were pretty good. Parking could be kind of hard to find on the weekends but we found parking quickly in the back, next to BofA. We walked into this establishment from the back, however there is a sign, that asks you to go through the front. We'll be back!

I've been here twice. It's right next door to the popular Town restaurant in San Carlos. I came in before a work dinner with a couple other early arriving coworkers. They have a good selection of beers and hard ciders. Usually not too crowded and the staff is nice! It's an excellent place to grab a beer and small bites with friends. I'll definitely try the Bavarian pretzel next time. It looked really good!

Trying this place for the first time on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. It's very busy. I'm a little surprised giving this place is like brand new. Hubby discovered this place and dragged me and our dogs over. It's dog friendly even indoors. So that's good news for dog ppl like us. Tons of space for them to really stretch out and relax here. It's a modern rustic style. Really nice. They do have a small outdoor patio with 3 high table barrel setting outside. On a sunny day it could be really nice and relaxing outdoors too. I'm not exactly a beer person but he got me a fruity drink it actually tastes good. So, sure next time I can tag along. They do have some real food so that's a bonus.

Great space for a group gathering. Family friendly. Nice big open window in front. Good, simple food options. Good beer. Fun pick your own flights. Good vibes. Good music on in background.

Dropped in a couple weeks ago for the first time. Friendly, helpful and informative staff! YAY! :0) Tons of beer options with cute names! I tried 4 different ones but wasn't really into any of them and the rest of the beer options were a little too hoppy for me. Was great to try a new place and also have a hot pretzel! Wish they had garlic fries and more food items. Hope they will get some wheat beers in the line up one day, else I probably won't be returning.

Beer was good. Enjoyed a flight. The bartender was nice and welcoming. Good amount of places to sit which is nice.

Session IPA and french bread pizza - Yummers!

This location has been here for about 3 months so I suspect they are still working on the ambiance. I agree it was a tad "sterile" but the beer was good and the food was also good with lots of options. I went with 2 others and we tried the stout, kombucha and session IPA, all of which had a nice flavor. Nothing too overpowering. The "Uncut Gems" was a nice amber lager; "Amish Rifle" had a little more flavor and complexity; "Little Angel" was a sturdy stout, very sippable; "Kokua Maui Strong" was a nice and smooth session IPA (I bought a 4-pack for $20); finally, the Pineapple Kombucha was very good... smooth and not too sweet. We ordered the grilled cheese and french bread pizzas which were equally delicious and simple. Great quality on the cheese. The beer & food menu had a nice variety. I agree the open air concept and super bright lights did remind me of my grandfather's dairy farm pasteurization room but it wasn't unpleasant by any means. They also have outdoor seating. The whole place (including bathrooms) was also spotless (they are fairly new but still... nice!). Great to have a new place in the 'hood and I look forward to going back to see what additional upgrades they make. Try it out!

I was delighted to see yet another brewpub pop up on the peninsula this summer, so I made a visit to Hapa's as soon as I got the chance; it was late on a sunny Friday afternoon. Being the new-kid-on-the-block, Hapa's was hopping! Unfortunately I also tasted one of their beers. It was, how do you say...not good. (I couldn't finish it). Just as well, since I had to be somewhere else. Later, I was wondering if perhaps I had had a bad day (or I had just tried their worst beer), so I decided to visit again on a more quiet afternoon to sample a flight of other Hapa beers (four 5-oz pours). But again, all the beers I sampled that day were mediocre to terrible. (For those who care, my tasting notes are at the bottom of this review). As for other aspects: -- Space: New and clean, very bare; with no art or decoration. They have some low bench tables and some uncomfortable, high-chair barrel tables. It was super loud and echo-y inside when crowded, so they need some soft surfaces or baffles to soak up the sound. Outdoor seating on the street was nicer. -- Food: OK selection. Stronger than most bare-bones brewpubs, who typically do this as an afterthought; but it's still only snacks. As a pescatarian, I had a choice of: Bavarian pretzel, avocado toast, french bread pizza, and grilled cheese. I chose the pretzel. It was fine (3*) - obviously pre-made and re-warmed, then brushed with butter. But it wasn't even close to the wonderful, fresh-made, 5-star version at Gourmet Haus Staudt. (About a mile south of here). -- Staff: Young, friendly, but somewhat clueless about the beer. I asked about the hops used for one brew and received a blank stare and a shrug. For a brewpub, however, the beer quality comprises 75% of the score for me. And Hapa's brews just didn't measure up to other local spots like Devil's Canyon, Freewheel, Blue Oak, or Ghostwood. Those places aren't perfect either. But at least they all know how to make good beer. = Tasting Notes = No Coast Pale Ale: (First visit). Too malty and bready; zero hop nose or flavor. Lackluster; only drank half. (2*) Little Angel Mocha Porter: Kind of thin, with no mocha flavor as promised. I just got coffee; and it turned to dregs with the slightly bitter, astingent aftertaste (2*) Beast of Burden Belgian Strong Ale: Started with a nice, yeasty, banana nose. Fairly normal flavor up front, but sadly there was way too much residual sugar, so the back-end tasted a bit like bubble-gum syrup. Could not finish it. (2*) Hungry Dog IPA: Nice citrusy nose, but WAY too much piney bitterness in the middle of the flavor, killing all subtle fruit notes that might be there. Unbalanced. (2.5*) Butterfly Wings Hazy IPA: Smelled like pineapple juice. Tasted like pineapple/orange juice. Zero bitterness (And it was a double IPA fer crissakes!). Way too sweet. Could not finish it. (1.5*)

We did a flight and had a few samples as well - the standouts were the Pesky Penguin (berry cider-y brew) and the Solemn Penance (West Coast dipa).

Right when you walk in, the vibe feels welcoming and easygoing--perfect for groups or even a casual solo stop. The space has a great indoor/outdoor setup, so you can choose between a lively indoor atmosphere or a more relaxed patio feel depending on your mood. There are also a few TVs around, making it a solid spot to catch a game while hanging out. What really stood out was their impressive selection--30+ beers and seltzers on tap, with a little bit of everything for all tastes. Whether you're into hazy IPAs, crisp lagers, or something lighter like a seltzer, there's plenty to explore. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time to walk us through options and offer recommendations without any pressure. You can tell they genuinely enjoy what they do. On top of that, they also stock a nice variety of bottles and cans in the fridge, which is great if you want to try something different or grab something to-go. It adds a bit of a curated bottle shop feel to the experience. They also serve some light bites like empanadas and pizza, which paired well with the drinks and made it easy to settle in for a while without needing to leave for food. It's not a full restaurant, but definitely enough to keep everyone satisfied. Overall, this is a great spot to kick back, celebrate with friends, or just explore new craft beers. Easygoing atmosphere, solid drink selection, and friendly service--definitely a place I'd come back to.

Went here for brunch and it did not disappoint…read more Service was great and fast. They sat us upstairs since there was a few boys soccer teams that were there with their coaches and parents. The honey mint mojito came in a cute bear glass and was just the right amount of rum, a little tarty but once watered down was good. Had the biscuit and bacon board (lots of bacon and the biscuits were warm and fluffy). The French toast was just right and the berries were sweet. The crab Benedict was made of real Dungeness crab and the muffin was still crispy. Honestly, the biscuit and bacon board would have been enough. 4 stars because it was $$$ but would def go back again

We went there because they had gluten free options and I have celiacs. When we got there I asked about the gf options labeled on the menu and the server said that those items were not really gluten free... So, I asked what my options were and it ended up being salad or surf and turf. My husband and I decided to share the $60 surf and turf and it was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. The one thing that was the most disappointing was the $12 Italian soda. It was just not good... Maybe some of the other non gluten free items are better, but not suitable for a person that needs gluten free options unless you want to eat a salad.
