My friend and I come to Dog Hays a fair amount when I'm visiting the peninsula. This beer garden has some pretty awesome foods and I like their drink menu as well. The service here is always good and they bring food out to you pretty quickly after you order. Inside they have lots of TV's showing sports and some nice high tables to eat at. I typically order their Reservoir Dog. It's a polish sausage with their house made chili, Cole slaw and a sweet mustard served on a king Hawaiian roll. Had a late lunch here after some hiking near bye. We ordered at the counter (person taking our order wasn't too enthusiastic) and sat outside for a bit. Food arrived quickly and it was great. The hotdog comes in a nicely toasted hawaiian kings roll and the bacon wrapped dog with the condiments and the sauces was really tasty. The chicken sandwich came with a lot of grilled chicken, salad and pickles. The sweet potato fries were nicely seasoned. It's a pretty cool and casual place to hang out for a drink or to meet up with friends over drinks and a burger/hot dog. The prices are very reasonable. I've tried their both their "das brat bratwurst" and the "Beyond sausage bratwurst" version. Both are great and come with caramelized onions, sauerkraut, and topped with spicy mustard. The "Sooo Veggie" is also very good. They use a Beyond Sausage hot italian with arugula, avocado, tomato, onions, topped with a spicy aioli. The Holy Aioli Burger is delicious here and is served in a King's Hawaiian sweet roll. It is topped with white American cheese, bacon, and caramelized onions. There's nothing better than their freshly fried, golden tater tots to go their sausages, burgers, and cold drinks. I've had them plain and topped with cheese. The service here was adequate during all my visits but nothing extraordinary, which is why I've settled on four stars. I'd stop by here again if I were in the area. read more

My coworkers and I voted to eat here after work on Sunday and I both loved it but also regretted it. I loved it because they had all my favorite foods, but I regretted it because I didn't think I'd feel so groggy after. The location is incredibly convenient with a parking lot right in front, and the restaurant offers plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Zach and I have gone to Dog Haus twice for lunch and the food is great. Both times we have gone there, we also brought Coco for outdoor seating. Dog Haus is located in a plaza across from the Safeway. The parking lot closest to Dog Haus is pretty small and cramped. We have parked in the Safeway parking lot before with no issues. When you go in, you order at the counter and they will bring the food to you. If you do bring your dog with you to eat outside, I suggest you bring your dog's water bowl / bottle since none of the staff offered to bring water for Coco. Here's what we've gotten from Dog Haus: - The Little Mule (burger) - Bad Mutha Clucka (chicken sandwich) - Old Town (hot dog) It's a wonder that the sandwich stays in one piece as they are making it since they put a lot of stuff in it. Once you take a couple bites though, it falls apart so be sure to grab lots of napkins and maybe some utensils since it can get messy. I got the Bad Mutha Clucka twice and both times they have tasted delicious. I tried some of the Old Town and the Little Mule and both are really good. We went just before closing time, so they let us know about it. And actually kicked us out at 10 sharp. The kitchen worker was very nice but I caught a bit of an attitude from FOH staff for being there so late. I got there at 9:25. Perhaps close at 9:30, so you can leave at 10. I've been coming to DogHaus since they first opened in Belmont many years ago. What I love about this spot: delicious burgers at very reasonable prices ($13 or so). My regular order is the Hangover no mayo add mustard and add pastrami. Usually, I get a lettuce wrapped burger but today I got the Nashville hot grilled chicken (yes, it's spicy!!). They're kind of like a mix between a brewery and a burger joint. I don't drink anymore, but when I used to I appreciated their selection of local IPAs and sours. Since I'm gluten-free I skip the Hawaiian buns but when I come here with others who get, the love that the burgers are on the buns! Their tots, and fries (of all kinds) are crispy and delicious. We ordered the cheesy tots and it's not my thing - pass on that for me and just go with the plain ones with a dipping sauce. There's plenty of outdoor seating, and inside there are a couple or few long brewery style tables, a couple tall round tables, and bar seating. I really wanted to like Dog Haus because the location and space are actually great. Unfortunately, our experiences here have consistently been disappointing. First, the menu leaves a lot to be desired if you're looking for anything even remotely healthy. If you want burgers, fries, or hot dogs, fine, but for a place with such an extensive menu, it's surprising they haven't tried to incorporate even a single decent salad or lighter option. Everything is extremely heavy. The chili was shockingly salty. I could only take about two spoonfuls before giving up because it was so hard to eat. The kids' menu also needs some work. The food comes out piping hot, including the chicken tenders, to the point where your kid has to sit there waiting 10-15 minutes before they can even touch it. Then there are all the little things that add up. They charge $0.85 for ranch, but barbecue sauce is free, even though the barbecue sauce itself is thick and heavy and not very good. The register also defaults to a 20% tip even though you walk up to order and are expected to bus your own table and throw away your own trash. The space itself is nice and has the potential to be a fun beer garden, but it's not even open particularly late. Even the to-go bags are extremely cheap. They ripped immediately when we used one. Overall, it just feels like a place that's nickel-and-diming customers while serving mediocre, overly heavy food. It's a shame because the location is great. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back. read more

The coleslaw not spanking just bland, cabbage was crunchy so I guess that's a plus. The inside has a sports bar vibe, big screen tv's and not like a Biergarten. We went at night and on a sunny day, I imagine sitting outside with a pint and apps might be the way to go. Plenty of free parking in the lot. After spending the afternoon chasing our little one around the park, it was nice to sit down and have a beverage with some stellar snacks. I had the Fort Point Dry Cider which was fantastic. It went perfectly with the wings we ordered. So many nice selections. Wish we lived a little closer so we could have a few more. We ordered French fries with cheese sauce, a corn dog, and chicken wings with buffalo sauce. Everything was on point!!! The cheese sauce for the fries is like actual cheese sauce! Like REAL cheese sauce!! Not the fake cheese you get from 7-11 nachos which I admittedly like. This is the real deal. This is the kind of cheese sauce for people who truly respect cheese. The kind of cheese sauce that you could use to make macaroni and cheese, which is one of my many favorite foods. I don't remember you guys having mac & cheese on the menu, but if you don't, y'all should! All you Gotta do is mix the sauce you ALREADY make with some noodles and throw it in a ramekin, add a little bit more shredded cheese on top, and throw that thing under the salamander or the broiler for a minute. And boom! Killer Mac! Your welcome. My apologies if you've already done it. The wings here were incredible. The coating on them is sensational! It's thick without being overdone. The wings are meaty and crispy and the flavor is beautifully saturated into the wings. We ordered the wings with buffalo sauce, but this did not taste like your classic Frank's red hot. And I love Frank's. I don't know if they make their sauce from scratch, but whatever they use is delicious. I will say that it's definitely sweeter than your classic buffalo sauce. I even questioned whether they accidentally used barbecue sauce. I'm not really a fan of sweet sauces, but this was really tasty. It was both sweet and savory, and had a spicy kick to it as well. Yuummmy! We also ordered a beef corn dog and that was great too. The coating is so nice and crispy. I was pretty bummed I had to share it. Last time we ate here, I was a little bummed that everything was on Hawaiian rolls. I was so happy to find out that they have other options. I can't remember the creatively descriptive names but appreciated the staff explaining to me what was on each item ahead of ordering and recommending items to try. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely return; I highly recommend the small but delicious sliders. There is a large dog friendly outdoor patio. The tables didn't look like they have been cleaned given the oil stains and they could do better there. But staff service was friendly and the food came out quickly. I've been here several times to watch Warriors games. It's a fun environment with plenty of TV's and beer on tap. I've heard this is one of the few places that serves Pliny the Elder on tap. Most recently ordered the T-Mex Haus Sausage and Little Mule Burger. The Little Mule was good and I'd get it again if I wanted a burger. I loved the pickled jalapeños and the egg was perfectly runny. If I had to choose one or the other, I'd pick the T-Mex. Both meals were shared so I only had only half of the sausage and some bites towards the end got a liiiittle too spicy for me. I think it was from a jalapeño but maybe there was a build up from the chorizo; I'm not 100% sure because the Little Mule also had jalapeños and I was fine with the burger. I'd say, if you're sensitive to spice, don't order this one. At most restaurants, I request a mild spice level but can tolerate medium. I think this was maybe medium-hot. However, even though my eyes started to water and started to get the sniffles when I got down to my last 2 bites, I'd totally suffer through that again. As for their beer, I was sad to find out they no longer offer flights. I love sours so most recently tried their double strawberry raspberry shake by Great Notion and it was a winner for me; very refreshing and summery yet with surprisingly high alcohol content at 9.3%. We chose to sit outside and bounced back and forth to the register for new things. You order at the counter and then food is brought to you. The business is a small chain (franchise?) and has the same vibe as other locations with the variety fittingly falling in the tap section. Therefore, no two places will have the same tap menu (which is awesome).
