We've been to Town multiple times, and it's one of our favorite restaurants. We live in the city, and it's always worth the trip to come here. The food is consistently amazing. One thing that stood out during this visit was the incredible teamwork. Every employee was constantly moving, helping guests, and supporting one another. At one point, a server who wasn't even ours noticed that the sun had shifted and was shining directly in my face. She immediately offered to move us to a different table, which we really appreciated. We also noticed the manager walking the dining room, checking in with guests and making sure everything was going well. It was refreshing to see such a hands-on approach. Our appetizers took a little longer than expected, which honestly didn't bother us--we hadn't even noticed. But the manager did. He came over to sincerely apologize, brought us an additional appetizer, and even insisted on taking care of part of our bill. It was such a thoughtful gesture. When the food arrived, it was excellent, just as we've come to expect. Our waiter was fantastic as well. The customer service here is every bit as impressive as the food. We'll definitely continue coming back. Town consistently delivers an outstanding dining experience, and we highly recommend it. read more

Came here for the bread pudding and had to suffer through entrees first (just kidding). The entrees are good, but the bread pudding is just the hit of the meal / evening. If you're in the area, definitely save room for the bread pudding. And get it à la mode so you have that nice scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. read more

I've been here many a times now and Town never disappoints! I'm a huge fan of their weekday lunch deal where you can get an appetizer and an entrée, which is such a great way to try multiple items on the menu at a really reasonable price. This last visit, we shared a few appetizers including the cheesy garlic bread, brussels sprouts, and crispy potatoes. Everything was super delicious and came with amazing sauces that complemented each dish really well. The potatoes especially stood out to me, they had a lot of garlic, which I love, but it wasn't overpowering. The garlic had a nice sweetness to it and paired perfectly with the crispy texture of the potatoes. For my main, I got the steak salad, which had a really nice Asian-inspired twist with ginger and noodles. Another favorite of mine is the Napa cabbage salad. We were also celebrating my birthday, and they brought out a bread pudding cake to share that was absolutely delicious with an amazing sauce on top. Every time I come here, I try to order something new because everything has been consistently great. I came here for dinner about three years ago with my now ex-husband and a colleague of his. We sat outside on a pleasant weather evening and I do recall being fond of my experience. This last time I went with my adult daughter on a Sunday for brunch. I normally wouldn't drive down to San Carlos from SF. We were in the area for the car show that morning and looking for breakfast and lunch options because it was in between hours (11 AM-ish). The menu is a little all over the place. I have feelings about restaurants and eateries that don't have a dedicated cuisine, but that's not to say I don't like them. I'm not sure how I feel about it with the price range of Town. Town is known mostly as a steakhouse in my opinion, but their brunch menu also has a sushi section as well as classic breakfast items. They also have on the brunch menu things like chilaquiles, loco moco, and tostada. The food is good, but i likely won't be going out of my way to spend a hundred dollars on breakfast for two. This was our 3rd visit to Town restaurant in downtown San Carlos. We had brunch there on a Sunday and found parking easily in the nearby parking garage a block away. This place has a very nice indoor ambience, but this time we ate outside in the parklet (that way we were seated right away, instead of having to wait 15-20 mins). They had a space heater right next to the table so no issues with eating outside. Food - I had a sangria (delicious!) and the Chilaquiles (chicken with 2 fried eggs, tortillas, guacamole etc) which was delicious and a very large portion. My husband had the Shaking Beef bowl which includes filet mignon, rice, veggies, onions, tomatoes. Very tasty. Also a good portion. We sat outside on a sunny afternoon that still had a little chill in the air, and they thoughtfully positioned the heaters for us which made it incredibly comfortable. Service like that matters. One steak came out slightly overcooked, but they handled it flawlessly. Not only did they correct it quickly, they insisted on removing it from the bill entirely. The Town came as a high recommendation from a friend. I'm not typically out in the San Carlos area but I had to make the trip! At first glance, it looked to be that they were very busy. I went on a weekday around lunchtime so a little late is always possible. We found the server desk right inside the front entrance past the outdoor seating and there was tons of open space in nice luxurious booths in the restaurant. The service was fast. The water was always full. And the ambience was top notch. As you can see from the photos, we decided to go with a couple of different starters that were excellent and the main dishes really hit a home run in my belly. I'd recommend this place to anybody looking for a new vibe in dining. Plenty of TVs and a nice size bar area. Beautiful restaurant located on Laurel street that offers a delicate brunch menu that will excite anyone. This is my wife's favorite restaurant when she's home visiting family and now it has become mine. We are always met with warm greetings and are always seated and waited on immediately. Came here for a private event and... WOW. The private dining room is tucked away upstairs, cozy and inviting--like stepping into someone's beautifully designed home. The vibe? Impeccable. I've been coming to Town San Carlos for years and this most recent visit was for dinner on a Tuesday night. Street parking in the area can be hit or miss and I usually have no issues parking in the free parking garage a couple blocks away closer to San Carlos Avenue. For appetizers, we had the Chilean sea bass tostadas, vegetable roll, and Philly cheesesteak spring rolls. The house slaw and chipotle aioli worked really well with the battered sea bass and chip on the bottom; the balances of textures was on point and the chipotle aioli was not really spicy at all which is fine since I usually don't eat too much spicy food. I usually don't like sushi from American restaurants but this appetizer was okay; it did not taste authentic and I would not order it myself in the future. The spring rolls were my favorite because I enjoyed the crunchy outside paired with the spiced steak inside. For this dish, I did not try the included house spicy ketchup but enjoyed the horseradish cream sauce even though I normally do not like horseradish. I ordered their Song Dynasty with kiwi, lemongrass, lemon juice, orange flower water, and elderflower tonic; I saw the lemongrass noted in the menu description and went with that to try it; the drink overall was a bit tart and I probably would not get it again. My first individual course was my salad and I chose the classic Caesar. Keep in mind that these salad portions are not your normal salad portions you eat before your main course; these portions are humongous and could serve as a meal on their own. The lettuce was dressed really well with the creamy-garlic Caesar dressing and I liked how there was a heavy amount of herbed sourdough croutons spread throughout the plate. For my main course I got a surf and turf with filet mignon and sauteed lemon-garlic shrimp. At first I thought they forgot my shrimp since my plate only had the filet mignon, garlic mashed potatoes and roasted broccoli but the shrimp came a couple minutes later in its own mini bowl. I think it would've been nice if the shrimp was already on the plate in terms of presentation. I asked for my filet mignon to be cooked medium rare and I think they did a good job doing so. The shrimp was good but I didn't really think of anything that made it stand out on its own. For dessert, I had their famous warm bread pudding and it was so good I finished it quickly. Overall, the service was great and each dish was prepared well. I definitely left full and overall enjoyed my dining experience. If you are in or near San Carlos and are craving elevated American food with Asian and Mexican influence without being considered as fusion cuisine in a setting with a neutral ambiance without anything gimmicky, I highly recommend Town, though the experience might be best for a special occasion dinner rather than a random weeknight dinner. read more

Came for a weekday dinner and the restaurant was still packed! A nice spot for an occasion, date, or even a casual dinner. There's additional seating in the parklet outside the restaurant. They don't take reservations so it's best to go early to avoid waiting during the dinner rush. Items Ordered: - Miso Roasted Cauliflower: Comes with avocado yogurt and pecan oat crunch. The cauliflower was on the sweeter side with the miso flavor, and the avocado yogurt provided a nice contrast to this sweetness. I liked the extra crunch from the pecan oats. - BLT Iceberg Wedge: Our server offered to cut up the iceberg wedge since we were sharing the dish. Comes with bacon, cherry tomatoes, and blue cheese dressing. - Teriyaki Skirt Steak: The steak was very well prepared and the meat practically melted in my mouth. The teriyaki also provided a sweet flavor but it was not as overpowering as the miso cauliflower. Comes with a green beans, mashed potatoes, and a pile of onion rings which were great sides. - Warm Bread Pudding: Very soft, spongy, and warm, not overly sweet. - Not Your Grandma's Cheesecake: A unique twist to cheesecake as it comes in a mason jar with cinnamon toast crunch and strawberry coulis. I know the Japanese items comment seems a little bit off, but they have sushi rolls and Pook bowls that are really good. Their steaks are excellent. I really like their spitfire chicken enchiladas. If you're into some comfort food, try out the some other mother's meatloaf. And their warm Napa cabbage salad is actually really good. Something I wouldn't havehave expected based on the name. They have a full bar so everything from the high-end liquors and cocktail options down to some really good wines as well. We stopped by Town on a Friday at 6:30, put our names in fully expecting to wait over an hour for a table, the hostess said it would be a 40 minute wait. Went over to have a glass of wine next door at The Cask Wine Bar. An hour later we went over to check in with the hostess, she said it would be another 20 minutes, no problem we were willing to wait. 30 minutes later we got a table on the outside of the parklet. There was a gas leak on the heaters the whole area smelled like propane. Kids were screaming and playing football right next to us. I fully understand sitting inside the parklet and having an enjoyable dinner but being sat on the outside of the parklet area after waiting for 1.5 hours is ridiculous, these seats are an absolute cash grab. We love town but this experience was so off putting, we ended up heading over to Stamp Bar and Grill for dinner. The hostess mentioned tables were not turning over fast enough and there was nothing they could do. This is absolutely in their power, Town should consider a table time limit and reservations or at least have their manager check in with tables to turn them over. This was a very frustrating night, we love having dinner at Town but will not be back there as there are many comparable or better restaurants in the nearby areas such as Pazo. read more

I've been wanting to try out TOWN forever and when I finally did, it lived up to the hype and more. I came on a Friday night by myself and sat at the bar. The restaurant is lively and moody, perfect for a date night or special occasion dinner. The bartenders and wait staff were attentive and friendly, despite being how busy it was. I ordered the pomegranate martini ($13) and espresso martini ($15) and both were excellent. Then for my meal, I got the classic Caesar salad ($13) and the bone-in ribeye (24 oz - $74 including 2 sides) with the garlic green beans and creamy garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious and the ribeye was so tender and juicy, practically melts in your mouth. For such a nice restaurant, the prices were surprisingly really reasonable considering how HUGE all of the portion sizes are.
