Super attentive service, and a pretty relaxed vibe. This is their highlight. I was here twice with friends, once in 2023 for dinner, and was back more recently for lunch. The food unfortunately is the less impressive part. Both the Bruschetta and Calamari Fritti appetizers were mediocre. I expected the Bruschetta to be better with the Burrata, but it fell flat. The Calamari was super-greasy but also just ok (I've had way better versions elsewhere). For entrees, the Tagliatelle that I tried could have been more flavorful. It was a tad on the blander side, and watery. Disappointing. The Cappellaci had a nutty flavor, heavier, and better tasting (recommend this over the Tagliatelle). We almost enjoyed the Conchiglie (the pasta and the flavors came out right), but the chicken was very chewy. Walked over to the nearest gelato place and coffee place for dessert and coffee, so we didn't really explore their drinks and dessert menu. I've never been fully satisfied with the food here. And so will continue exploring other places in the San Carlos area. read more

5/25/25 We made a reservation at Pranzi for 5:45PM. We saw that they have outdoor seating so of course we brought our furbaby. We parked about a block away. Pranzi is located in this cute downtown area of san Carlos. When we got there, it wasn't busy at all and we were seated right away. The staff there are all very friendly. They got Coco a water bowl right away after the menus were set down. Here's what we got: - shrimp and crab ravioli (to share) - Linguine seafood (me) - bolognese (his) - Affogato al coffee (dessert) The bread they gave us to nibble on while waiting for the ravioli to come out was super soft. We didn't really wait that long for everything to come out. You can taste how fresh everything is and the pasta is made in-house. The linguine seafood was really good; the shrimps are big and there's also clams and mussels in it. I liked that it didn't have fish in it compared to other Italian restaurants. There's a little kick of spice to it which was good too. The bolognese was well done and tasted great. For dessert, I got an affogato al coffee, perfect ending to the meal. Pretty good for dinner! We visited Pranzi on a Sunday evening and got seated right away with no reservation. The interior had dim lighting, cute holiday decor, and felt both cozy and stylish. For drinks, I got a glass of the Storypoint Cabernet, which was decent. For food, I ordered the Crab & Shrimp Ravioli (specials menu) and my partner chose the Seafood Linguini. My ravioli was very good and the portion size was just right! I really liked the vodka sauce, although the asparagus wasn't my favorite addition. It was our 38th anniversary and we were just enjoying our day together. Going to check out a new restaurant and this look like a winner. It was the middle of the day so there wasn't much of a crowd. The restaurant very warm, clean and inviting. It was a little windy so we decided to dine in indoors. The calamari was amazing although we prefer a more traditional cocktail sauce, the beet salad was great and was enough for both of us to share. I got the seafood risotto which was fresh and had plenty of clams, muscles scallop and prawn. My wife ordered the lobster ravioli, and she really enjoyed it. And the meal with a surprise anniversary dessert that was perfect along with the cappuccino. And to top it off, we ordered a butternut squash, ravioli, and lasagna to go for dinner later. First time visiting this Italian restaurant for a birthday celebration, and the experience was a mix of highs and lows. We started with Spanish octopus, calamari, and bruschetta, along with a bottle of red wine. The appetizers were definitely the highlight -- especially the calamari, which was excellent. Our waiter also gave great wine recommendations, which we really appreciated. For the mains, I ordered the ravioli, while my friends had the paella and squid ink spaghetti. My ravioli tasted great, but the portion was smaller than expected. My friend said the squid ink spaghetti was very good, so I'll try that next time. Unfortunately, the desserts were disappointing. The crème brûlée was below average, and the Napoleon was definitely not worth the money. One more thing: the waiter kept rushing us throughout the meal, which really killed the celebration vibe -- especially since we arrived at a normal dinner time (7 PM). We came here for our 10 year anniversary and the staff was all very kind in genuinely celebrating with us! They made a point to find a lovely table for us and give us say in if we preferred something else. They were very kind in serving us and bussing our table. The restaurant is dimly lit for a romantic atmosphere. The tables and everything were wood and rustic in the best way to make it cozy. Unfortunately the tables were a little close together and my husband got knocked into every single time someone passed which was less than ideal for a nice higher end restaurant. The food was delicious. My brown butter sage gnocchi was a dream. My husband's food was good, not nearly as good. The calamari was also good, though not the best we have had. Went to this Italian spot with some friends and had such a great experience! They have a lovely outdoor patio area that's perfect for catching up and enjoying good food. The staff were all super friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. We ordered quite a few dishes to share. Two salads, mussels, octopus, ravioli, lasagna, steak, salmon, poke, truffle Mac and cheese and paella. Everything came out fairly quickly and was delicious, but the octopus was definitely my favorite! It was my husband's birthday, and they were kind enough to surprise us with a free birthday treat. Came here with my mom for my birthday, really enjoyed all of the food we ate. Hamachi appetizer was a nice, fresh way to start the meal. Osso Bucco was definitely on the heartier side. I was pleasantly surprised with how much meat came off that bone! Apple pie thing I had for dessert was a perfect, sweet ending to the meal. Wasn't too busy for a Friday evening, they have a nice outdoor set up on the closed-off street. Food here is actually pretty good, service was atrocious. Among the worst I've ever seen. We came here for lunch as 4 families with 8 young kids. It took a LONG time for the waiter to properly even take our orders, and he was sighing and rolling his eyes for every item. We got our food extreeemely late (30-40 mins after ordering), despite the restaurant being pretty empty other than our party. I'll fully own that a large party with a bunch of hyper kids isn't ideal, but we felt SO poorly treated that it almost would have been better if they just refused to serve us at all. I ordered the vodka pasta with no bacon - when it arrived 40 mins later, it had chicken on top. I told the waiter I was vegetarian and I didn't order chicken on my pasta. He said "well I think you did", and then checked his order and realized he was wrong. He grumpily took the plate and stormed back to the kitchen. 45 seconds later, my pasta was back without chicken on top. I asked him if the kitchen had just taken chicken off the top or if they'd given me a fresh plate. He said he'd ask, he never came back with an answer. My son was starving and we had no other food served yet so didn't have a choice but to just eat. My friend ordered a salad that came with a produce sticker on it. When she asked about it, they took it back and then it came with chicken on top that had red sauce stuck to it - as in, they had taken the chicken off my pasta and put it on her salad. 40 mins after ordering, we still hadn't gotten the kids' pastas (plain pasta with butter, nothing crazy). After asking 4 times, I had been told "it was coming in just a minute". The fifth time I asked the waiter told me we never ordered any kids pasta. After waiting another 15 mins, we finally got kids pasta. We were floored to see that we were charged for the penne pasta with scraped off chicken, messed up salad, and kids pastas that came an hour late. I asked the waiter if he ever got an answer about the pasta and whether it was restaurant policy to charge for items that were messed up. He angrily told me we ordered too many things and then walked away. Will absolutely never come back here. read more

The short rib ravioli was pretty good but was quite heavy to try and finish by yourself. The pasta was flavored perfectly, but definitely get the Parmesan on top for a little bit more flavor. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely good. If the restaurant decides to add a twist like deep fried Calabrian chilies I think it would be better! The food was amazing: The pasta sauces were delicate on the palette where you can taste the ingredients and doesn't drown out the pasta itself. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the spinach cheese dip (can't remember the actual name of it) was delicious! The service was awesome and entertaining! A solid meal with exceptionally friendly, patient service as a few members of my larger party hemmed and hawed over their dinner picks. I went with the shrimp appetizer and a salad as my main. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the caponata was uber-flavorful. My salad was fine but nothing special. I also snagged a bite of my neighbor's risotto, which was a good choice if you are saffron fan and not too particular about your rice texture. Service was prompt and polite. The three gentlemen working had a good rotation, with food being dropped off and picked up promptly and water glasses never empty. Even with some more high-maintenance patrons around us, they managed to stay friendly. Nice! For lunch, we ended up getting: Onion focaccia (5/5): I'm never going to hate free bread. It's a dying tradition, and any restaurant still doing that deserves appreciation. We got focaccia, but neighboring tables got a different kind of bread (it looked like a baguette). I'm not sure which one of us got lucky. Italian chopped salad (3.5/5): They split the salad for us. I ended up getting a not-so-fresh cucumber in one bite, which wasn't great. The Gorgonzola dressing was mild, and the dish desperately needed some salt. So, it was just okay. -Linguine seafood (5/5): perfectly cooked pasta, a ton of fresh and well-prepared seafood, spicy sauce where you can still taste the fresh tomatoes, and all of this for $30... what's not to love?!? Now that dish packs some heat, so if you're not into spicy food you definitely want to skip it. -Chicken Parmesan (5/5): my husband is a chicken parm aficionado, and he LOVED his dish. Had a great Father's Day meal at Pranzi tonight. We ordered the fried artichoke, mussels/clams, Caesar salad, bolognese, branzino, and apple crepe dessert. Artichoke had generous portions, it was nicely presented. It was pretty good. The clam/mussel were outstanding. Perfectly cooked and the broth was spot on! The bread dipped in the sauce was omg. We would have preferred the branzino to be a whole fish. Lots of mashed potatoes. Asparagus was perfectly cooked. The Apple crepe dessert was to die for. It had an almost lemony accent to it and really accented the Apple flavor. Service was excellent! Allriza was our waiter. He was friendly, professional, and gave us excellent wine pairing advice. We hosted a private event at Pranzi - an intimate wedding lunch. The layout was perfect and the restaurant is already decorated beautifully inside, so we knew our decorations needed to only be minimal. I'm surprised I haven't tried this restaurant sooner. The menu is varied and interesting. There were only two of us at a tiny table so we had to limit our ordering but there were so many things I wish I got to try. In the end we tried the truffle gnocchi as an appetizer, and the pork chop and short rib ravioli as mains. Truffle gnocchi was a standout. The flavor was very tasty and the butter sauce was delicious with their complementary focaccia. I would have filled up on this but had to stop ourselves to save room. I loved that it was served piping burn-your-tongue hot. Truffle flavor was mild. It definitely was stuffed with truffle like the description. Short rib ravioli was a bit disappointing. Very thick large ravioli that felt like it could use a couple more minutes of cooking. Couldn't really taste any meat in the filling. Still, the portion was large and the sauce was tasty. I'm not going to deduct any stars because it's rare that I like any ravioli at all restaurant. The pork chop was the star and we both agreed it was possibly the best pork chop we ever had at a restaurant. I made sure to order it medium and it came out perfectly cooked on a sizzling hot cast iron plate. The gravy was tasty without being too heavy or salty, even the veggies were very tasty. Every last bite we took was still warm. I would come back just for this dish. We were too full to get dessert but they looked interesting. We tried a few cocktails and they were fine. Nothing worth noting. Some were strong and some didn't taste like they contained alcohol. The servers were all very kind and attentive and made us feel welcome. I wish there was a bit more space as we were situated at a table where my husband was constantly being brushed up against as waiters passed him. (Every few seconds). For entrees, we had a variety of pasta dishes and also the Chicken Parmesan. All were reasonably good - a bit on the bland side. Portion sizes were decent.
