This is a hidden gem for their lunch specials! We're talking about like more upscale dining with suits and ties for around $30. Forget your SF restaurant week because this is every M-F and isn't going away. Comes with salad or soup and the salad was great. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer and thay was 5/5 delicious real crab with a good aioli sauce. My coworker had the salmon and it was a whole piece with all the veggies and potatoes with the sherbet for dessert. Totally worth it. My steak was an additional $20 upcharge but it was a good steak. Also, with all the fixings like veggies and stuff. Not a fan of their sherbet, but whatever. Service was decent. Great view of the Burlingame street to people watch. Would recommend for an upscale lunch.

One of the things I find most frustrating about work is that the bar for mediocrity is set highly; the daily overexertion I pour into the cup of the collective is not celebrated or recognized as it is the standard to give 110%. Sometimes in my bluer days I wish that getting up and going to work was celebrated as an achievement in and of itself. I wish that my smiles and my right answers, my mini victories in knowing what to do, the accumulation and application of my experience, the precarious balance of the tiny tasks that are unsung and highly necessary, I wish it made my heart sing louder. I want to untie work validation from my internal validation, the same engine that feels good when running hot in the office can come from other tracks. I want to work on that this year, though I admit that the desire hasn't translated into the action yet. Luckily, I think I don't have to change my mediocrity meter for Yelp. To get the shrimp add on to my pasta, it was an additional $10 for five shrimp. TEN DOLLLARS??? FOR 5 TINY SHRIMP??? oh excuse me, the menu calls them prawns ... PRAWNS?? These tiny tough little morsels??? I KNOW they came in a frozen bag!! The things new American / wine bar / corporate card restaurants can get away with!!!! The teriyaki skirt steak was oh so sweet, the amount of sugar could eliminate and shroud any crimes of the beef itself, so sweet it felt like panda express. We're losing the art of nice casual you guys, or perhaps the suburbs never had it .-.

Came here for a dinner date with my boyfriend after we watched John Wick in theaters. It's a very lovely restaurant in Burlingame, a great choice for a nice night out for a date and/or feeling a bit bougie. We saw a few families, including a married couple with a baby. The bar is gorgeous, and we sat at a booth across from it. We enjoyed our entrees! We had: Risotto: Tiger prawns, bay scallops, shrimp, spinach, sundried tomatoes and shrimp bisque mascarpone sauce Seafood Linguini: Tiger prawns, bay scallops, shrimp, clams & mussles, lightly spiced with chili flex, served with tomato-basil light cream marinara sauce For dessert, we got cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Both recommended! Verdict: would recommend Saltyard for a higher-end meal out without breaking the bank

OMG - I'm SO HAPPY my friend recommended this place! Came to celebrate a friend's belated birthday and decided to do their power lunch. Which is $25 that includes 1) A Mixed Green Salad, Caesar Salad or Soup of the day; 2) Main course (with incremental cost if you want skirt steak, short ribs, rib eye, etc.) with a mix of pastas, chicken, salmon or beef; and 3) Sorbet for dessert. Ended up we all ordered the Salmon as entree - some had the mixed green and others had the Caesar Salad. I had the Caesar Salad and sadly ate my salad before I remembered to take a picture. It's a very decent size for lunch. A bit under dressed which was fine - as we asked more more dressing and got a bit more. The Caesar Salad dressing was AMAZING - had that anchovy flavor - I feel like they had either anchovy oil or bits o anchovy in the dressing - delicious!! Friends liked their mixed green salad as well - with their dressing on the side so they can put as much or as little dressing. The star for me was the Salmon! PEFECTLY cooked (not dry at ALL) salmon sitting on mashed potatoes, grilled onions and spinach all topped with the most DELICIOUS vodka cream dill sauce - which had a bit of lemon flavor - it was AMAZING. In fact I want to go back JUST for that salmon!!! OH I forgot a friend came later and got the crab cakes that also came with a mixed green salad. She seemed to enjoy it a lot - so that also was a hit!! And because we were celebrating a birthday - the birthday girl got a cheesecake along with a rowdy happy birthday song!! She shared and it was a pretty big piece - very tasty and a nice ending to our most delicious meal. But having said that their sorbet was so refreshing. Not overly sweet or tart. LOVED it and pretty much licked my bowl clean!! Services was great - given how busy they are - we were able to have all our requests addressed in a friendly prompt manner!! Am definitely coming back and can't wait to try more dishes!! I can't believe I forgot to take pics of the salads and my friends crab cakes. We were just having too much fun gabbing and catching up - was a great atmosphere to do just that!!

Saltyard is one of my favorite restaurants. I was here earlier in June and it was my second time! My boyfriend and I were here for our special anniversary dinner. The level of service, the aesthetics and dining atmosphere, the menu and of course wonderful company made for the best experience here! My boyfriend made the reservation through Yelp or open table I believe! It was nice of the host to accommodate a bigger table so my boyfriend and I could sit next to each other. Our server was spectacular, we never felt rushed and our food was presented in a timely manner. ** Meiomi Pinot Noir & Robert Hall Cabernet Sauvignon 5/5 ** Fried Artichoke paired with a lemon aioli 5/5 ** Calamari paired with cocktail and tartar sauce 5/5 -- I didn't eat this dish but my boyfriend loved it! ** Chicken entree 5/5 -- a chicken tenderloin with mashed potato, spinach, asparagus, sun dried tomato, and a pesto sauce. Everything was cooked perfectly, you get so much flavor in each bite. ** Salmon Entree 5/5 -- served with mashed potato, onion, spinach, and vodka creamy dill sauce. I forgot to say no onions, however the dish was still amazing! ** Chocolate and Orange Gelato 5/5 -- it comes with 2 scoops of gelato per serving! I highly recommend this restaurant! It is perfect for a special occasion, date night, or solo date!

We selected this restaurant from Yelp while staying in Burlingame. It was a Saturday night, and they were very busy. There were several large family groups celebrating special occasions. Fortunately, we had reservations and were seated in a smaller room near the front. We shared a fried artichoke appetizer. I had cioppino; it is a must for me when near San Francisco. It had a variety of seafood served in a tasty tomato broth. The seafood included salmon, prawns, clams, mussels, and octopus. The octopus was a bit chewy. We also had the chicken that was prepared in a pesto sauce. It came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The service was great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We had a group of 11 and were genuinely looking forward to dining here, but the experience was unacceptable before we even arrived. The hostess called claiming our reservation was at 7:15 PM which was completely incorrect (as you can see from my text confirmation). When I tried to clarify, she was rude, dismissive, and insisted I was wrong. She then abruptly told me the kitchen was closing was 9pm and hung up. This level of unprofessionalism and poor customer service is unacceptable. We canceled immediately and took our business elsewhere. I would not recommend this restaurant based on how we were treated.

3.5 stars. Saltyard wasn't quick to grab our attention. It had been open over five years before we tried them for dinner, & didn't eat there again til recently for lunch. Pricing is reasonable for slightly more upscale food & ambiance than the casual spots around Burlingame Ave. BF took advantage of the $25 Power Lunch which included a starter (minestrone soup was chock-full of veggies), main (+$20 for a sizable, tasty ribeye, which is still a decent price for the cut), & orange sorbet for dessert. I had the fried artichoke with lemon aioli ($14.99) & beet salad ($12.99) with the only note being the insufficient amount of crumbled goat cheese on the salad. I'd re-order both of these dishes in a heartbeat. We gave Saltyard a second chance to make a first impression & while they don't crack our Burlingame Top Ten, they're certainly an option on the rare occasion we want a nice sit-down Italian meal.

First visit, came in for a business lunch. The space itself is lovely -- clean, stylish, and very well suited for a meeting. Everyone was well dressed, the room felt well run, and it's located in a cute, safe strip mall that works well for groups. Parking, however, is a headache, and it was surprisingly empty for a Friday lunch. Service was genuinely good. One person was covering both the bar and the tables and handled it impressively -- attentive, efficient, and never felt overwhelmed. The food, unfortunately, didn't quite match the ambiance. The burrata was a very small portion, though the salad was solid. Tomatoes were fine but forgettable. The sweet bread was excellent, though the olive oil and balsamic were placed awkwardly and hard to reach. The tacos leaned too greasy for my taste, and the drink was much milder than expected. The biggest miss was the steak, which came out overdone. Overall, it's a nice place to sit, talk, and feel comfortable -- especially for a meeting -- but the food itself was pretty mid and not something I'd return for. Glad I went, enjoyed the space, just expected more from the kitchen.

This place is delicious and has a great variety of food. Tucked in a random corner in downtown Burlingame, it wasn't busy for a Friday evening which I wasn't expecting! They just get busy later in the afternoon bc they asked if we had a reservation but we still got seated right away. The complimentary bread is really good. This was my second time here and I haven't been here in a long time but didn't disappoint. Everything was flavorful and came out fresh. The vibes inside are nice, the bar looks pretty good too. It would be a nice date night here. My favorite dish was the truffle mushroom bruschetta appetizer

This was a tasty but expensive lunch. I spent almost $75 for a flight of wine and Cioppino. My friend had the Seafood Pasta dish and an Aperol Spritz. We enjoyed sitting outside for an afternoon lunch. Our dishes were good and the portion was a nice size. There were big pieces of fish and plump shrimp in my Cioppino. I couldn't eat the garlic bread that it came with so my friend had it. She said it was very good.

Quaint environment that is not too loud. Decent food with portions that are moderate for the price and friendly service. Nice place to stop in for a drink.

We went on a slow night and still dealt with a total "slow turnaround" and some classic operational gaffes. They couldn't find the bottle of wine we actually wanted and then spent way too much time trying to sell us on a different bottle we had zero interest in. It was a bit of a circus just to get the basics situated. But then the food arrived, and that's where the magic happened. I've seen reviews complaining about a "lack of flavor," but that was not our experience at all. We started with the beet salad--the honey-lemon notes were nice, though nothing to write home about. But once the mains hit, everything changed. The Carpaccio was spot on, the Ribeye (prepared perfectly to medium) was delicious, and the Branzino special was fantastic. And the Rigatoni Rustica? Believe the hype. It's a classic for a reason. Bottom line: The service is definitely sloppy, but I wouldn't dismiss this place because of it. The food is genuinely good Italian and the prices are reasonable for Burlingame. My advice? Skip the salads, ignore the service "monkey dance," and go straight for the classics. I'd definitely go back just for the steak and the Rigatoni alone. Highly recommended if you actually care about what's on your plate. An A++ local find.

Always love the option to join the online waitlist ahead of time when reservations aren't available. Favorite dishes of the night were: -Gnocchi Fritto appetizer: Never had fried gnocchi before, had a great puffy texture. Truffle taste in the truffle cream sauce wasn't very strong. -Zucchine e Maiz lasagna: Pesto was a great sauce choice and paired well with the zucchini and corn. -Squid Ink Seafood Pasta (special): Generous seafood portions and the dish was flavorful. -Complimentary focaccia: Fluffy and yummy with olive oil. Other dishes: The Italian Sausage lasagna was fine. I personally love crispy lasagna edges, but some people found it too crisp and too dry. The salad (Insalata di Rucola) wasn't mind blowing, but I'm glad we ordered a veg to cut through the richness and heaviness of three carb-heavy entrees. The restaurant itself is smaller than expected, so I would avoid coming here with large parties. It also felt really hot and stuffy inside, which I anticipate getting worse as summer progresses. The interior is cutely decorated. Service was initially attentive. We did have to flag down our waitress multiple times to order and get the check. Seafood Linguni Special (5/5): If the waiter tells you this is the special today, this is a MUST ORDER! We substituted the squid ink spaghetti with linguini, and it perfectly soaked up the DECADENT SAUCE. Not too salty and perfectly balanced. Complimented the seafood incredibly. I will come back and eat this EVERY TIME. Pesto Gnocchi (4/5): They cook the gnocchi really tender and soft, so don't expect really chewy potato dumplings. I personally like the texture and it absorbed the pesto really well. This had no frills and was simple. Could use some more salt and cheese, but still easily yummy. -1 star because we did find a little piece of white plastic in our Lasagna Bolognese (pictured in this review). When I found out Stella was participating in " Flavors of the Peninsula", our suburban version of Restaurant Week in the city and that the 4-courses included a truffle gnocchi course, I made a Monday night reservation for two. Their version of truffle gnocchi is simply perfect - four delicate hand rolled pillows swimming in butter with fried sage leaves and truffle oil. I always have to stop myself from canceling everything else I've ordered and piping up " eight more gnocchi please". I opted for the salmon and my kid really likes Stella's chicken parmesan. The Stella salad features a yummy champagne dressing, candied nuts and cranberries in a nest of butter lettuce. The salmon was delicious, though the thinnest parts of the fish were a tad overcooked. The broccolini', spinach and carrot combination were fantastic, as were the perfect mashed potatoes. Kyle loved his chicken and made me take a bite if his pasta- yummm. Generally we are not dessert orderers but we were delighted with the lava cake and caramel gelato. A menu of exquisite entrees wetting ones appetite anticipating an evening of aperitivo, savory antipasto, primo and secondo. The beet salad was not like the one your aunt would bring to the family reunion which was heavy and too sweet, this one was fresh, crispy lettus with a light taste of cheese. The clam chowder was also light but creamy, not heavy or over loaded with potatoes or clams the perfect primo. My wife's salmon was enhanced with a lemon cream sauce and the grilled braising pleased the palate. The Veal Marsala was tender and the red meat sauce and mashed potatoes was both a delicacy and a comfort. Coupled with a chianti classico, the evening was a date night to remember.

However, service was superb and they frequently checked on us for water and bread. My husband and I ordered: -the linguini with clams in white wine 10/10 for a flavorful sauce and black pepper taste. The ratio of mussels and clams to pasta was what I like to see! -the calamari was very much just okay; too rubbery and not crispy without taste but not bad. 6/10 would not reorder upon return. --special of the day clam chowder 10/10 blew some other chowders I have had out of the water from seasoning and fat clam pieces. --fettuccine with scallops and shrimp was 9/10. Creamy and hearty, but my husband notes he did feel it was slightly too heavy for him to finish but did not complain because the portion was huge! They also gave us a free cheesecake dessert courtesy of it being an anniversary for us. The bill was around $150 after tips/tax and appropriate for a moderately evening fancy occasion.

I made reservations for our party of eight for 6:30 PM via OpenTable. Easy peasy. Adding a few extra minutes to our travel time for finding street parking, we arrived just in time. No other tables were occupied, inside nor outside at the front patio. The venue, a warm space with dramatic lighting, was very clean and tidy during our visit. Trapeze's menu offers Italian fare with Mediterranean and Californian nuances. Upon seating, we were served baskets of complimentary bread accompanied with a unique red thick dipping oil which Peter enjoyed so much that he asked for more. The servers happily gave us extra servings. In addition to cocktails, wine, and coffee drinks, below are what we ordered for dinner: Lemon Citrus and Avocado Salad ($13) - I believe that Mom ordered this and found it to be light and refreshing. Ahi Tuna Tartar ($20) - I think that Peter and Mara shared this and ate it all up. I didn't hear any comments on it, though. Beet Salad ($14) - A very nice salad with generous slices of red and yellow beets and goat cheese. For an additional $12, Auntie Marissa added Salmon to her salad and had it as her main dish which filled her up. Grilled Polenta Cake ($12) - Auntie Marissa found this starter to be rich and filling. She said that Pal would really like it. Penne Con Pomodora E Melanzane ($20) - DJ was not very impressed by this bowl of pasta and eggplant, unfortunately. Paella Valencia ($32) - Uncle Danny is not a big seafood eater, but he was very pleased with this Spanish rice dish. Grilled Filet Mignon ($50) - Yum! This was my order and I loved it. Duck Ragu ($26) - Peter did not seem as enthusiastic about this pasta dish as he did with the complimentary red dipping oil for the baskets of bread. Penne Al Forno ($26) - Mom ordered this and thought that it was good. Classic Italian Tiramisu ($12) - This was served to me on the house, topped with a lit candle for my birthday. Everyone enjoyed sharing it. Bread Pudding ($13) - Ok, according to DJ. Trio of French Mini-Chocolate Beignets ($12) - These round beignets were like light donut holes filled with chocolate. They were nice, especially with the side of whipped cream and sliced strawberries. Service was excellently friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Although DJ didn't think highly of Trapeze Restaurant, Mom and I were delighted by the dinner and would return with pleasure.

It took over 10 minutes just to get the heater turned on, and the waiter only approached us twice, once to take our order and once to bring the food. While eating, they turned off the heater, forcing us to finish our meal in the cold. When we asked for the check, the staff suddenly became polite, clearly more interested in getting a tip. Good food, but poor service. I won't be coming back.
