Don't be fooled, the 5 stars are from friends and family. This place went down hill real fast. The service sucks, the ambience is crap. It's just local drunks (which I don't mind) that are treated better because they're here everyday. They got rats running along the glassware at night, in the roof. Unless your friends with these people, the don't really care. I've been coming here since 2012 and have always kept it low key, just the way I like it. It used to be great. Bartenders almost act like they're doing you a favor for doing their job. Cut the attitude. Seriously. Some of us just want to release the stress of the day. The last thing we need is to deal with your bs service. Find a better spot. read more

Follow-Up Review: I want to update my earlier review. After my last visit, I left a negative comment because I was frustrated with how things went at the bar. Looking back, I realize I reacted too quickly and didn't give the situation a chance to be addressed properly. Apparently the bartender got called in earlier than he normally does due to some unforeseen circumstances. So he was rightly frustrated probably. The GM, Bobbi, personally reached out to me after seeing my review. She was incredibly professional, listened to my concerns without defensiveness, and took the time to make things right. That kind of response says a lot about the way this place values its customers. It's easy to jump online and vent when something goes wrong (and I'll admit I had a bit of a "Karen moment"), but it's worth recognizing when a business goes above and beyond to handle feedback the right way. Thanks to Bobbi's response, my opinion has completely shifted, I really appreciate her efforts and I'll be back for sure. read more

Came on a Friday night and was so happy to see it poppin'! There was a really diverse group of people aged 20s to 60s. There was also live music which is a nice touch even if the music wasnt my style/way too loud. We just moved to the area from Colorado and have been floored by how incredibly sleepy the area is. So, we were JAZZED to finally see people our age. Didnt get to try the food but for being a legit bar with pool tables and such, the cocktails were SO DELICIOUS. Was not expecting good drinks from a place like this. We came to play pool but the folks there weren't really competing and didnt have a line or anything. So, we ended up not playing and just hung out to people watch and have a couple of drinks. Id go back. read more

Okay 5 stars for the bomb fooddd and cool they have such a spacious place to watch UFC fights. Arrived 6:40 ish Sat night to watch Jake Paul and Nate Diaz fight. This place must have 15 tv screens in various places. Better to come early to get a better seat on the high tops. We sat at the lower table in the pool table area and it was straining on the neck to have to look up at the screens. The food was bomb. Esp right after kayaking, we ordered rack of ribs and chicken wings and cold slaw. I tried a friend's tater tots and they were super good.. almost fluffy and perfectly seasoned, not salty at all. The sauce on the ribs is very bold heavily covered but it's pretty good.. chicken wings were very good. Nothing too salty. Also have a wide selection of beers. We enjoyed watching the game tho it went pretty late and i would just bring ear plugs next time bc it was a bit loud for me. read more

Walked in and only 5 people seated at the bar on the right side, one table of about 7 people seated at one table on stools drinking beverages, and two people in back playing pool...no greeting or acknowledgement of the two of us as we entered and then seated ourselves. Should've taken our first clue from lack of acknowledgement and also that no one was eating anything but we ordered anyways, and it was incredible how long it took to even receive our food...six ribs and side of sweet potato fries. Huge mistake. Ribs were like sawdust jerky and the fries were chewy dehydrated chips. The one rib I did try to eat crackled like an old bone breaking and drinking my entire glass of soda was the only way to wash it down. Great selection of beers and tequila! It's hard to find a good sports bar in the bay area but this is the spot on the peninsula, screens everywhere! Bobbie, who I believe manages the place but is also a bartender, is incredibly attentive. You can really tell she cares about her customers. Gets a great crowd of friendly people too. I would love to add a picture as a Yelper, but people may cringe even more than what I am about to share. First, I would like to share that I loved going to this location for many years in the past when it was named other names. I do not have any ill will or bias towards the "newer" owner(s) except for what I am about to share. My friends loved having the burgers that ECR was making, but they mentioned one very very disgusting fact...they saw RATS in there when they went last time. Not just one, but several. They even saw the barkeeper chase one around while they were there trying to corner it. I never tried the burger or any other food based on the RAT infestation. We were at a basketball game last night and decided to have dinner at a local restaurant (check my review when you have a chance). We decided to have a beer or two at ECR since it was just down the street. As we were having a beer, my cousin says "What the $#%& is that over there?" I asked where and he pointed towards the wall. As I looked over, I saw a huge RAT climb up the wall. I immediately got up and left. My cousin asked how a place could have RATS and still stay open. We had thought they would have taken care of the problem by now being that they don't serve food as often anymore and once you found out you had a problem, but I guess I was wrong! Shame on me also for thinking that this problem would have been taken care of. I have a lot of fond memories there prior and would want to continue to have a beverage there with my friends and family, but THEY HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR HEALTH VIOLATIONS FIRST! read more

I quite like the food here! I dropped by on a Monday around 6:30 and the bar was fairly empty. I ordered and got my food very quickly. It seemed like karaoke was going to start soon. I got the pork ribs and pork sliders. I personally enjoyed both, and the Mac & cheese and tator tots were perfect. I appreciate the onions and pickles on the side as well. read more

I stop here often to wait out the traffic and have been here on Tuesday's and Thursday's mostly. The Bartender is an absolute joy. Her vibe is amazing. A group of us go for trivia on Wednesdays and we love the vibe! The trivia is a great mix of difficult and doable questions which makes it fun. The staff is friendly, the owner came up and introduced himself the first time we went in and now stops by to our table to say hi. They have a little kitchen that they rent out (I think) and the food that they serve is yummy! not sure if they've changed the menu since I was last in, but they didn't have chicken as a meat for the tacos which was a bummer since I don't eat red meat/pork. read more

This place was an unexpected 10/10. We looked up places open at 9pm on a Thursday in Belmont and a group of us gave this place a shot. The cook and bar tender were some of the coolest and nicest people I've ever met. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich and my wife the birria grilled cheese and both were absolutely incredible, 10/10. Stopped by on Tuesday and was deeply disappointed by the service the bartender was in and out of the bar smoking cigarettes the whole night, and chit chatting with her friends outside of bar, and failed to come back in and wash her hands before making drinks. This is my favorite spot in Belmont by a long shot - the midwestern owner from Wisconsin and his staff are some of the kindest people I've ever had the pleasure of being served by. On top of that, the food is out of this world, always so good. My friend group has also really enjoyed coming to the bar's themed nights: Karaoke, trivia, live music, and sport nights. Would absolutely recommend this bar for a good drink, good company, and a fun night. read more

First and foremost I've never done a review on a matter but also my friends told me I should specially on how I've been treated. I work for EA Games and decided to come in on Tuesday with a few pals from work to ECR Pub and the place looks great, however the Bartender she was very rude when I've asked about my beer. Then she approached me gave me my beer but said a Spanish comment towards me which she doesn't know I speak Spanish. She was talking to somebody else and she kept saying that I look like llama, which I really didn't care. Later I order a bear but she wasn't available at the time. Finally she came and gave me my beer. Still she said that llama llama spit spit and that i look like a mauro which I still did not understand or what she meant. I order a last beer and she was upset like she didn't want to attend me or my pals and at that point I kept hearing her talking to her friend calling me a llama and was going to spitty spitty on my drink. Unfortunately I drank my beer hoping she didn't Quote "Spitty Spitty". I don't think I would like to come back to this establishment anymore specially when my beer may have gotten the spitty spitty mauro which I'm not sure what is that or means. read more

Friendly staff, remodel in progress but had wings and fries, the blue moon was off the chart amazing! I was thirstier than a dead dingo's dong when I came in. All in all a great experience and the bartender poured well. Nice neighborhood bar filled with regulars. The burgers looked fantastic but I did wings, huge portion of fries btw. Mixed review: 5 star bbq with 2 star dive service. This used to be such a fun, divey, neighborhood bar. It is now a really good BBQ resto in a bar, that has been stripped of it's charm. Gone is the shuffleboard -- TRAGIC! There are fewer pool tables and more seating for eating. If you want to eat, great, but the bar service is spotty at best because they have put most of their servers into "to go food". Not the old Ausiello's experience for sure. read more

I was reading over the reviews and was "Shocked" by the review from Jannette M. I have been going to this place for many years, being that I grew up in San Mateo. I have seen many changes but the service and employees have been consistent which keeps me coming back. I'm familiar with some of the employees and the female employees have always been courteous and their service has been top notch. I have gone there on Tuesdays as well and have been very satisfied with the female barista. She is very personable who also seems to know quite a few of the patrons who obviously go there to unwind, feel welcomed and appreciate good service. I had great memories for when this establishment was called, "Ausiello's." a cool place that we could hang out in after our league softball games in Belmont every Wednesday and Friday night. Cosmetically, ECR Pub is cleaner and the layout is more organized than Ausiello's, but that's the only somewhat-positive distinction I could find. Showed up on a whim because we were going for a drive on a Friday night at 7pm. There were only 4 customers in-house -- one at the bar and 3 sitting at an elevated table. 15 minutes to get someone to come take our order for a couple of beers. Another 15 minutes later, with beers half-consumed, we decided to order food. No formal menu. Instead, they literally just had FOUR items on a trangular standing chalkboard at the entrance. Our options were BBQ riblets, a burger (just one kind), and sweet potato fries. 40 minutes to get our BBQ riblets, again, with only 4 customers in-house. When they arrived, they were burnt, and difficult to chew (too hard/stiff). And oh, two beers and the ribs (about eight 3-inch riblets) totalled $48. Very disappointed. Too bad, as I was going to gather my old softball team here (14 guys with their families, probably totalling 40 people) for a reunion here. Going someplace else. read more

The facility itself is not great. The table seating makes it difficult to be comfortable because the table bottoms are opaque so you can't put your legs under them. But the FOOD is on point! The chef (a woman who's name I forget) makes THE best wings in San Mateo County. Burgers, too! read more

ECR has been a great bar since Jackson took it over from Eddie McGraw. They've done a great job cleaning up and updating the place without losing the charm from the old Ausiello's. The pool tables are great, the beer cold, the drinks reasonable. The food used to be excellent basic bar grub, but that has changed, and IMO for the better. Saucebelly has partnered up with ECR for their food program. Saucebelly has some of the best brisket I have had, paired with a couple of great sauces. The sandwich is huge, loaded with meat. Not too fatty with a great smokey flavor. They have several other meats available, I want to try the ribs! They have a rotating selection of sides. The chili is fantastic. I have also had the black eyed peas and rice. It was spicy but so good. The big ass fries will feed a small army. They're open during SIP for take out BBQ and drinks. Give them a try! read more
