Dive, casual, relaxed, chill, no drunkards, happy, overall comfortable. Beers and ciders. In and outdoor seating. Great service. Fridge near entrance for cans, too.

There are not a lot of places open late in downtown San Carlos so Ale Arsenal was an obvious choice after having dinner with some friends at the Refuge next door. It was not very crowded on a Sunday night with plenty of bar space for our party of 6. Pretty good selection of local beers on tap at a fair price. I love that they serve the glass-bottled Mexican Coca Cola here too. The noise level from the music was loud enough where you can still have a conversation with friends without yelling. Friendly service and clean.

We went to ale Arsenal for years. Then we had a kid and they said you are not welcome anymore Dog are ok, but no kids.

Best beer bar in the Peninsula, and that's not hyperbole. I've been drinking amazing beers at Ale since 2013 and it's still my favorite bar in the area. Constantly amazing selection, super knowledgeable and friendly staff, even has a superb bottle selection at Fair prices. Note that there is no food, but the bar is super friendly with takeout food (Get a cheesesteak from the Refuge next door and bring it in the bar). If you just want fantastic beer, this is the place to go.

Quality beer and chill spot to have a drink

Just a friendly great little spot to try one of several types of beers they have on tap that day. I consider this spot a fun place to meet up with friends for a quick drink before you go somewhere else for dinner. Noticed several people brining their dogs into the bar. Small and really chill spot.

The pastrami was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, layered generously in the sandwich. Every bite was rich and satisfying without feeling too heavy. The garlic fries topped with pastrami were just as good--crispy fries loaded with savory, flavorful meat and just the right amount of garlic. Super indulgent and perfect for sharing (or not). You can tell this is a popular, staple spot--there's a reason people keep coming back. Overall, a solid choice if you're craving something hearty and flavorful. Would come back to try more off the menu.

We ordered: -Onion rings: Super crispy and the onion didn't fall out with each bite. The ranch also was very tasty! -the Reuben: Crispy bread that paired perfectly with the pastrami meat. The Swiss cheese added even more flavor to the sandwich. -Philly cheesesteak: PASS. The meat tasted super stinky and paired with the melted cheese made it even worse. Will not order this ever again. Overall, this place is ok for a quick lunch. They have a wide variety of beers which is nice. I'd only return if I was desperate for a pastrami sandwich in this specific area.

What a hidden little gem in Belmont! Now you know I love a good dive bar. Give me a little element…read morewith grit, some colorful regulars, and a potential for nearly anything to happen and I'm a happy girl! This bar was pretty packed on a cold, rainy Friday night. I came for the live music, but was drawn to the promise of tiki drinks. When you first step inside this place, it's got the great energy of Winter's Tavern in Pacifica: very pub forward, tons of seating and screens, lovely chatter from friendly sports voyeurs. Outside is a whole other vibe: cozy firepit seating, tons of tiki bar places to lounge, and a wonderful place to host parties. It was so packed outside, I didn't dare wander around to play photographer. But when I made my way to the bathroom I was surprised to see pool tables (being used), active games of darts, and strangers becoming close friends. The crowd was mixed: barely legal bar goers enjoyed some Taylor Swift on the dance floor, while folks who likely had grandchildren at home also showed us some lovely moves in the front of the bar while listening to Electric X Dance Band. And just as promised, the night ended with a gaggle of Sheriffs to clean up the after effects of intoxication, probably drug use, and a group brawl of some sort in the street. I will say security was quick to respond, and so were the Belmont Sheriffs, and all was handled in a friendly manner. So, not a boring way to kick off the weekend before Christmas. I'll definitely be back.
