Notable points: service was attentive and thorough. Mussels were so tender and plump. Loved that the bread came with three different dips (and good ones at that), the toasted bread that came with chicken liver pate was even better. Wild mushrooms didn't have enough mushroom! Goat empanada was hard as a rock and the sauce was an extremely salty and tart liquid, and the slaw it came with was missing a freshness. I think overall I was a big fan of a lot of the flavor profiles, but there was often a slight lack of valance in terms of sweetness/saltiness read more

One of our party's dish didn't come out until 20 minutes after everyone else was done eating. So almost 45 minute after original order was placed. Waiter was AWOL. Avoided our table. The owner finally came out to offer an explanation. But way too late. Apparently they "dropped" the dish on floor when bringing out everyone else plates. But didn't reorder it for another 15 minutes. And not telling us for another 5 minutes after that. The owner did offer us a shot of limoncello to "compensate". SERIOUSLY! Who drinks limoncello?! Food was ok. But would never go back again. We spent our last night in Avon here! The service was amazing, the food was sensational. Cocktail choices were very good as well. We wanted to sit out side in one of those cute little cabanas so I would suggest that you make reservations in order to do so. There is a minimum that you need to spend just so you're aware. My parents, husband and I were treated to a random act of kindness at Vin 48 over the Fourth of July weekend. We'd left an event at Nottingham Park and were having a challenging time getting a Lyft home. We decided to wait on the patio at Vin 48, which looked closed. Though the kitchen was closed, a kind woman came out and asked if we'd like drinks while we waited - despite being ready to go home. Amazing food, amazing drink selection, and excellent service. We were a party of 6, visiting Vail from Dallas, and we decided to hop on an uber from our hotel to go to dinner in Avon. It was a Friday night so it was crazy busy despite the snow outside. Although we had a reservation, we had to wait at the bar for a bit before we were seated. The hostess was really nice, and our waitress was even better! It was like hospitality excellence! The food was amazing, I had the tuna with noodles and quite a few servings of whiskey (they have like 80 different whiskey/scotch/bourbon on their drink menu!). All my friends had wine, I did not give it a try but I could tell it must have been good since they ordered the same one 3 more times! Overall, it's a great restaurant with a modern, American menu with Asian and Mexican ingredients. The great drink selection and excellent service really topped it off. We were in town to celebrate a late anniversary and chose Vail CO just because. We chanced upon Vin 48 and walked in, was promptly seated and served. The food portions were good, had bison steak for the first time and it was great, it was cooked the way it was promised, medium rare. The octopus appetizer was also great. Great dog-friendly restaurant in Avon at the base of Beaver Creek. They smoke their meats in-house, so the smoked chicken drumettes and grilled 7x ranch beef back ribs are a real treat. They also butcher their pigs in-house, so you can order options like pork bone-in ribeyes and pork porterhouse - amazingly tender and flavorful cuts! The service is excellent - everyone is knowledgeable when it comes to the wine menu (full of a diverse range of options from a $40 bottle to a $500 bottle). If you're still hungry, desserts are a real treat, too! You won't be disappointed! read more

AMAZING food. We sat outside with a great view of the mountains. The wine selection was fantastic, both by the glass and by the bottle. For any non wine drinkers, there was a great selection of domestic and imported liquors. Our appetizer was smoked salmon and it was absolutely fantastic. It was the highlight of our entire meal and I would go back for it alone. I ordered the lamb rare and it was cooked perfectly with a great sauce overtop. My husband ordered the pork dish and the flavor was perfect. Most impressively, for as great as the food was, it was by no means overpriced. We ended up spending a little over 100 before tip. This is, hands down, the best meal I've ever eaten. We had a 5 course meal- the artisan cheese plate, pear burrata salad, quail, wagyu beef, followed by a dessert of lavender crème brûlée and tiramisu. Sheer perfection from start to finish. Standouts were the quail, cheese boards, and both desserts. Bridget was our waitress and she was very kind. Service was excellent, with the whole table being reset with each course. Just went to this restaurant to have dinner. I could see that none of the cooks were wearing masks just as I reach for one of their free masks at the hostess desk and put it to my face. I said to the manager we are going to leave because not one of your cooks are wearing masks. The surly manager rudly said help yourself to our free mask as he walked away. I guess they can afford to insult their guests and put them at a health risk. Do not eat here. Ever! What other sanitation regulations are they ignoring? read more

It went great with the absolute must have chicken liver pate! Outstanding and tasty. For dinner, my wife had the NY Strip bone in. It was delicious with a well balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. I had the pork porter house special. That's right. Pork Porterhouse. It was cooked to perfection. I had a delicious Pinot Noir. For desert we loved the chivalry cheese cake.
