12/31/2021- Good company may be the only reason our New Year's Eve night was salvaged. While reaching out nearly 3 months prior to set up our reservation, Collin was wonderful in ensuring that we would be having a magical, elegant, New Year's Evening dinner celebration. He made sure we knew that the place would be sold out for this night and would be nothing shy of the highest regarded restaurant in Beaver Creek. Prior to our arrival, we ordered 4 bottles of wine to be opened and decanted for the table. We were connected to the wine manager, whatever that is, and were assured we would have this all set for us. Upon our arrival, it felt as if the restaurant could be closing because it was basically empty. The music was depressing, and there was a lack of attention from employees. We were seated for over 15 minutes before the waitress greeted us, and don't get me started on the bleak, dull waitress that projected her uncomfortable nature on our table. The waitress asked for our drink orders and we all looked at each other confused on where our wine that we pre ordered was. She frantically stated she needed to get it out of the cellar and showed back up with the bottles freshly poured into a decanter. After asking the manager if they forgot about our previous phone call to order the wine, he said that he had it decanting for the last 4 hours for us in the fridge... false. Moving on, the menu was a preset $160 menu. Waitress handed us the menus and started asking which choices we would like...without any explanation of what the chef has prepared for this evening. Making our way down the menu ordering for the table, 2 of the seafood dishes on the preset menu were no longer being offered with no substitution at all, so they only had vegetarian options. The evening progresses, the wine glasses become empty, and I had to get up to refill the tables glasses, all night. Better service can be found at your local Carrabba's. If I could rate this experience a -1 star, I would. The service was poor and the food was worse. 5 minutes before the new year and we look around and nothing. We request a little champagne toast and were served it after midnight. Let's get to the bill already and get out of here, no? after reviewing the bill, we were charged $30 a glass for the champagne that arrived after the midnight toast. We were charged $40 for "open food" and our negative nancy waitress made a whopping $400 tip for service my 7 year old nephew could entertain better. You would think a restaurant named "Wine 48" would know how to serve and be educated on wine service. This night could have easily been made better with any sort of effort from the restaurant to attempt to make this new year's night different than any other night. We came to Vin48 after a long day of skiing. Brianna was our server and what a treasure!! I didn't know the wines and she was patient and offered samples and recommendations. We also split a few small plates and an entree which gave us a few more opportunities to interact with Brianna; always engaging and brilliant. Went to vin48 for a belated anniversary dinner. The service was outstanding (and I used to work in fine dining). The wine selection is impressive and the prices are expected but not ridiculous. The FOOD was fantastic. We ordered seven different small plates including a desert. Each one was tremendous. Attention to detail in presentation and flavors is obvious. I was as impressed with sauces and side pickled salads as I was with the proteins and center elements. There was harmony and delight. The environment is also cool. A bit loud at times but we enjoyed great conversations the whole 2.5 hours we lingered at this great spot. read more

I have been here twice and the first time wasn't really memorable enough for me to remember not to go back. I was looking for a nice meal and my walking options were limited so what the hell...maybe it has changed. I sat at the bar and enjoyed their great wine and whiskey/bourbon list with a 12yr bourbon and SuperTuscan. I ordered the peach salad and lamb chops. The salad was tasty but I think there too much of the ricotta cheese for my liking, but it was decent. The peaches and lettuce was fresh. I was totally disappointed in the lamb chops. First of all, there were only two (2!) for $32. That's $16 a chop with about 1.975 oz of meat on each one. They tasted like it needed to be three of them. They were bland and uninspiring. Those two pieces needed to be the best lamb chop I have ever had so I would content with the fact that it was only two. If it had been three, at least I could say,at least I got three ! Next time, I'll eat before I go and enjoy the wine list. read more

WORST DINNING EXPERIENCE EVER. We had a horrible dinner where we were not tended to for 25 minutes. Once we ordered appetizers the waiter took our menus assuming we were finished. We proceeded to get horrible service and we were not visited timely. We complained to the manager who did not acknowledge error. We've eaten here twice recently, both times in the cozy and beautifully-decorated private yurts. Both food and wine were fantastic. We were definitely impressed with their COVID protocols. Last night we returned to Vin and unfortunately there was a obnoxiously potty mouthed group to two couples- in which the women were worse than the guys! I just had dinner at Vin 48 with a couple of friends, to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately, this place leaves a LOT to be desired. At a first glance the menu seems creative and appealing but beware as it is actually quite misleading. We ordered something that was supposed to be goat cheese, asked if it was free of meats -we are vegetarian- and it turned out to be Goat Meat!!! The Coconut Braised Eggplant is BAD. The spice ratio is sooo off balance that it kills your taste buds after with the first bite. Their suggestion of seasonal special addition of Zucchini Blossoms -supposedly filled with goat cheese- is a fried mush of tasteless batter with a filling of something that tastes like an extremely salty flour roux. Sadly, the plating/presentation of the dishes that we ordered is beyond flat. The service was also not the best -to put it nicely- we told the server from the very beginning that we are vegetarian and one of us is allergic to onions, nonetheless, we had to return her two meals because they were covered in chives!! That is simply the result of not listening to the guests. In sum, it is overpriced, pretentious, and not good. But, if you don't mind that, the patio is okay. read more

Vin48 is a great spot in Avon for anyone looking for food that is above the normal burger and beer spots. I really appreciated their use of local ingredients in their cooking (1 star). The menu is set up perfectly for sharing and I recommend concentrating on the small plate side of the menu with a couple of entrees thrown in. sweet bread w/handmade gnocchi was tasty as well as the tuna tartare (1 star). the "unhealthy" side of me really liked little touches like fried duck skin thrown in the duck confit fries...dirty! the pork cheek entree was super tender and the portion was healthy. Prices were fair...$12 avg. for a small plate...$20 avg for an entree (1 star). Service was great...they treated my party of 6 as family (1 star). My absolute favorite restaurant in the valley. Owned by awesome local folks who care about their diners. First, they have the best happy hour in the valley, if you can snag a seat. Their small plates are amazing, they have so many choices. I'm obsessed with their mussels, the octopus and the mushrooms. Vin constantly changes their menus with the season, so you know it's fresh and often Colorado grown. Second, Vin's wine list is incredible. How can you go wrong with a massive wine tap system where you can try as many as 40 different wines by the glass. Can you say heaven? While visiting from out of town, my uncle suggested we give Vin 48 a try, since it was conveniently located a short walk away from our accommodations. I can safely say I will be back again - and not just because of the distance - the food is divine! The ambience of the restaurant is quite cosy, despite being a larger establishment. The interior is nicely decorated, despite the lighting being dim. Tables are relatively close together, however they don't feel crowded. The chairs are also quite comfortable, which is rare. Out of the current menu, we tried the following small plates: ceviche, grilled octopus, and sweet potato ravioli. We also chose two big plates: the pheasant, and the pork of the day. We also received herb bread to start, which was served with a trio of bitter, balsamic, and vinaigrette. All the dishes were exceptional! I'd recommend following the same approach we did, and ordering a few things to share (as opposed to the standard starter and main combo). Personally, I thought the standouts were the octopus and the pheasant. The octopus was very tender, while also being lightly crisp on the outside. Unfortunately you only get one tentacle, which is a bit of a bummer because it is so delicious. The pheasant was something I wanted to try, since it is a little bit "out of the box". My main worry was that it might turn out dry, as chicken or turkey often can. However as it turns out, I was worried for nothing! The meat was abundant and tender, and very well paired with the chicken jus and accompaniments of spinach and sweet potato. This is a dish I would definitely recommend to others. The service at the restaurant was also wonderful. We were served by numerous people along the way (i.e. hosts, waiters, bussers) all of whom had great attitudes, and were ready to help out without being too overbearing. Plates were cleared promptly, water glasses were refilled, and we didn't have to wait around for the bill. Overall, it was a great dining experience. It's not necessarily the cheapest place to eat, but the food and service was definitely worth the price paid. I'll ensure I go back to try more of the dishes before leaving Beaver Creek! *Side note: From what I was told, the menu changes slightly with the seasons, so the plates I ordered may not still be available, but based on the quality and flavours of our dishes, I wouldn't be too worried about a lack of good options to choose from.* read more

The special turkey dish as well as the lamb and beef dishes were fine, but the chicken dish and pork chop tasted like they had been put in a pickled jar for over a year. They were so salty that we had to kept drinking water. Cut fries were saggy as hell. We asked to change but the 2nd one was still a bummer. Wines and food were overpriced. The contrast between the menu advertised on Vin 48's website and the one we were given was very disappointing. My wife ordered the mussels (which she loves), and had trouble getting through them due to the lack of flavor. I had their "leg of lamb" braised in red wine. What came out resembled poached lamb, in lamb soup. It was extremely bland and gamey. The waiter was put off by my disappointment, but did offer to take it back. I then ordered the flat iron steak. This was more palatable, but was drenched in sauce, bland, and under cooked. My wife and I travel quite a bit, and eat through our travels, and this was one of the worst food experiences to date. I have been trying to get to this restaurant for years and was turned into an instant regular. I sat at the bar for my meal and was turned on to a great wine suggestion by Anders who knew as much info on said vino as I could have ever asked for. It was a tag team with Anders and his bartending partner in crime Jeff. Both great guys to have serve you. Overly-proven by the fact that Anders gave me a 5-minute warning on happy hour. That blew me away. I started out with the braised goat ravioli with green curry yogurt beet pasta and it was out of this world. It packed a little bit of a kick, so keep that in mind, but if that's up your alley, please try. It rivaled my entrée which was grilled Colorado lamb loin chop with red pepper orzo, grilled broccolini and basil date pesto. That was also top notch. I unfortunately did not get to meet Charles (maybe I will tonight!), but met with the other members of management and partnership, Collin and Greg and they were both super friendly guys. My review is based on our happy hour experience. As a wine enthusiast, I appreciated that they offered unique offerings, including a Soave from Italy and Rose and Sangiovese from France. Most of the $8 bites we ordered were outstanding. We had the mussels, chickpea ravioli, and chicken wings. We loved all of the sauces and presentation. The pork meatballs were okay, a bit dry, but we loved the parmesan sauce. If we had not done happy hour, I think the small plates would have been overpriced for what you get. The dinner menu looked good, but be prepared for high prices due to being in a sk resort. Overall, it was a nice environment and great service. I recommend happy hour for sure. Absolutely delicious meal. I came here with my family on vacation over Christmas week and we were blown away by how yummy the food was. I started with a simple green salad. My entree was the most gorgeous piece of tuna over sautéed spinach with some thick tomato stew-like sauce on the side. The entree originally came with truffle mashed potatoes but i subbed in sautéed spinach because I don't like truffle. The waitress was extremely accommodating. Went there with another couple for a nice dinner. We weren't very impressed. The kitchen seemed to be having a very bad night. The food came out separately for each person over a 15 minute period. We were polite and waited until the last person received their meal to begin eating so everyone else's was already cold. One person received a steak that was so over cooked that it was tough. Sending it back was a mistake and by the time a new plate arrived everyone else was finished. One of the owners came out and seemed very indignant. If he was offering an apology it definitely didn't sound like one. We live in Avon and entertain a lot of guests and business associates here. This is my favourite place to eat in Avon without a doubt. I live in West Vail but I find myself coming here for a lot of our special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.
