Such a cool story here! First thing to note is that the winery is in Frasier, technically - not that that matters. Second thing to note, is that regardless of whether you come in the dead of winter or the warm days of summer, what you will not see is rolling hills of grape vines. Nope. Not a single plant for miles and miles. Instead, you'll find yourself in a converted old auto shop, filled with charm and winemaking equipment. My 82 year old mom and I stopped in to sample flights of the various wines that they have created, and the lovely gal behind the small but cozy counter gave us the basics on their process. The winery imports grapes - that is whole grapes, and does everything else from that point forward to turn them into the wines that they produce. A particular grape or blend may find it's way into a particular barrel, and produce a particularly unique and delicious wine. The flights (at the time of writing this) are $10 for a sampling of five. Bottles are priced reasonable, considering the small batch production at roughly $30 per bottle. These wines would make great gifts or souvenirs as well, mostly because they are delicious, but also because the labels are artistic & Colorado themed. read more

Okay, Maggie was hilarious and made the trip in here. She was such great company, it's definitely worth 5 stars if you get here. The tasting was the way to go, tons of options to try, and personally, I thought all of them were great! I'm not a port fan, but this one was SUPER unique and OMG. I loved it. The owner, John, loudly called me an idiot and told me to leave his business, all in front of patrons, because I disagreed that Vladimir Putin is justified in his war crimes over Ukraine. Slurring, he tossed back glass after glass of wine. It was embarrassing for everybody. His drunken behavior is unacceptable in a public establishment. read more

It's no secret that I love wine. After a day of tubing in Fraser, I convinced my dad and boyfriend to swing by the Winter Park Winery before we ate lunch. For $10 each, we got a wine tasting of seven wines. I think we could've gotten more but had to cut ourselves off. High altitude plus generous pours can be a deadly combination. Overall, my favorite white was the Symphony and my favorite red was the Syrah, which we bought to take to dinner later that night. The bottles are pretty, with local artwork featured on the label. There are also some pretty paintings around the tasting room for sale. Both make for great gifts! It's a small spot and not necessarily somewhere you'll want to hang out for awhile, but it's definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and curious to try some new wine. read more

Unfortunately, my friend and I didn't have a great experience. We were staying nearby and stopped in around 3pm for a tasting, but there was no one in sight so we couldn't even tell if they were actually open. It took several minutes to finally get the attention of the only guy working as he was working in the back. We asked to do a tasting, and as soon as he poured the first samples he left to back in the back again. We got the bare minimum in the way of descriptions or information about each wine or what's unique about them, and he kept leaving to go in the back after each pour. Just a sucker for good wines in mountain towns. :) Located in downtown Fraser, this winery is quaint, cute and just what the doctor ordered on a weekend trip to the mountains. The wine is excellent. Full of flavor, full bodied, some light and others not. all around-very good. The staff and winemakers are very knowledagble about their products, only increasing my interest. The cost? Only $5 to sample 6 different wines, all decently priced as well. Surprisingly good winery! I am not much of a white wine drinker but I enjoyed them here as well as the rose. I didn't love all of the reds, but I did like the Cabernet and the Merlot. It is a cute place to stop in and do a tasting and have a glass of wine. We tried all of the wines available and it was $10 each. I do know there is a Groupon out right now for a discount if you're looking! Hubs and I were the only patrons at the time and though Jon sat and poured, he wasn't much of a conversationalist. If you know wines and how to taste good wines, then you will soon find out that winter park winery has Incredible wines!!! The winemaker Jon is always knowledgable for different grapes and also the surrounding areas for some good outdoor sports. They give generous tasting pours and it's a very good price to taste! The art work in the building was done by a local artist and she uses a lot of the work for the labels on the wine bottles. Great for gifts because most of the artwork is from Colorado.. What's better then a Colorado wine and a beautiful art work label to go with it! Previous posts about this winery must have come on a bad day, I have since been there 3 times now, on different days and NEVER had a terrible experience. I have driven by the winery hundreds of times but decided to stop in a whim and it's the best decision I have made this year!! Jon, the owner, took us through a tasting of wines he has personally made. Besides the creative names and fantastic label art, the wine was fantastic. Our favorites were the '15 Gewurztraminer and the '14 Grateful Red. Jon happily answered the many questions I had. Wonderful and Fun Experience! My boyfriend and I stopped in for a tasting and really enjoyed talking with the woman behind the bar (forgot her name :( ). The winery had a few couples in there when we got there but we ended up closing up shop. The staff was super informative, friendly, and fun to talk to. BONUS - the cutest pup was at the door greeting guest. I think the wines available could cater to a variety of wine fans. Our favorite was the Red Zinfandel and the Gewürztraminer white. As for the spot, its casual and comfortable - sometimes great things come in small packages. We left with half a case of wine and will definitely be coming back next time we are in town. read more

This small winery makes all of its wine onsite from Colorado and California vineyards. They've got adorable metal wine holders to purchase, and their wine is very good. IMHO The sommelier doing our tasting was very knowledgeable and friendly. Sometimes they have live music; you can rent their space for a small party. The tasting only cost $5 a person... to taste 6 wines, that's a pretty good price! They are open most days of the year! The bottles are reasonably priced for the amount of work they put into them. Winter Park Winery was a lovely place to visit! We stopped in on a recent stay in Winter Park. I was pleased to see the beautiful local decor and was extra pleased with how friendly the owner is. He was very passionate about the wines and provided a lot of explanation about each pour as well as some information about the area. We went with the tasting and got a chance to sample quite a bit of wine for the low price of $10. I really enjoyed them all and my only regret is that I couldn't buy very much as it was toward the end of our stay. The whites were crisp and not overly sweet and you gotta love a good red wine in a cold mountain town. Do yourself a favor and stop by Winter Park Winery if you are in the area. A winery in Winter Park, I thought this was a bad joke when I first saw it. Seriously, what is a winery doing in the high mountains of Colorado. I reluctantly agreed to stop in here and boy oh boy am I glad I did. I walked in expecting to taste some pretty bad wine, but to my surprise the wine was actually really good. For $5 you get a tasting of 6 different wines, two white, three red and their port. The first that we tasted was the Riesling and it was not as sweet as some Rieslings which in my opinion is a good thing. The next was a Chardonnay I think which was not my cup of tea, but I don't think I've really found a Chardonnay that is. Next up was the Syrah, which was true to it's varietal. This was probably my favorite of the day and we walked away with a bottle. The Cabernet Sauvignon was a full bodied Cab that would go great with a nice steak and we also took a bottle home which we've already drank. The Merlot was a pretty typical Merlot, which is much like Chardonnay for me. The last wine we tasted was the port, and it was not your typical cough syrupy port. Most port is made with brandy, but they make theirs with something else (it slips my mind right now) and it helps to give it a very distinct flavor which you will recognize as port, but this is not your dad's port. The gentleman who was working the shop was not the owner, but he was pretty knowledgeable and was not afraid to say he didn't know the answer to a question when it was posed which we appreciated very much. Next time we are back I know we'll be stopping by again! read more

The owner and employees are super knowledgable and friendly. The art on the walls depicts local scenery, and when purchased it includes free wine! Large paintings come with a free case of wine of your choice, and framed prints come with a free bottle of wine. What a great deal, and a stellar experience! You can even request to have a private "paint-n-sip art class" with a group of your friends for only $35, which includes all materials and a glass wine while you complete a step by step painting from the featured artist!
