Great brewery excellent customer service. A buddy bought our round of drinks but I was accidentally charged for my drink too. We had the best service from Julianna, our bartender. She was an absolute delight. She has customer service down pat. She let us sample a few beers before we made a decision. My husband went with Rick stout and I got nut brown beer. They have a large selection of beers on tap and they offer flights of 4 oz pours. Stopped in for lunch and a beer on our way through town. We started with a flight, and while I liked several, my wife struggled to find one she enjoyed. After the flight, I had a pint of the Anglers Amber, while the Mrs. went with the Catamount Kolsch. For food, I had the beef and cheddar sammie with a cup of the green chili, while my wife had the grilled cheese with a cup of tomato bisque. While there was some confusion around if we were adding or substituting (we confirmed it was the former), the problem was quickly solved, and we got our chips that were supposed to come with the sandwiches fast. Sandwiches were very good. My chili was a lot more green chiles than much else resembling chili or soup. Not the best cup I've had. My wife thought her bisque was very good. Plant based eating nightmare.. dairy free and meat free options available if they get them to you the right way. Went with a group and ordered vegetable dumplings and a vegetable pizza with dairy free cheese. We received PORK dumplings and a pizza with zero cheese of any kind. Crazy work.. there are a lot of different reasons people can't eat pork. Hey at least they offered my friends free beer.. We stopped here - strangely - just because we thought it would be funny to eat inside a ski gondola with a table inside (in front of the restaurant), however we ended up loving the place ! Best of all was that they have GF / gluten free items on the menu for celiacs like me. Get the pepperoni pizza with a GF crust - amazing ! We also got a raspberry beer that was good. If you get the pretzel, buy the optional mustard for $0.50 !!! It is WAY BETTER than the cheese it comes with. It is pretty cool inside with couches and the staff was cool too. We visited Big Trout Brewing for a private event (meet & greet the night before a wedding), and had a great time. I'm not really a beer drinker, so I was thrilled that they served wine and liquor. There were plenty of tables, as well as seating at the bar, and the ambiance was fun/casual. The decor was partially hockey-themed but there were also plenty of art pieces around the room. There was also a wall of merch, which had some very cute apparel and glassware. I ended up coming back the next day to buy a cup! After about half an hour, they brought out a buffet of small bites - Pretzels with Beer Cheese (absolutely delicious), Caprese Avocado Toast (very tasty, surprisingly not messy to eat), and the So Gouda Mac 'N Cheese Bites (my favorite, I kept coming back for more of these). They also brought out pizzas, but unfortunately these weren't the best - way too doughy. Our server was SO attentive with the refills, many of the guests ended up commenting on it - he was fantastic! I'm not sure what the bad reviews about service were - we got better service here than anywhere else near Winter Park. We walked in and immediately sat at the bar. Within the first 10 minutes, we were asked if we were taken care of 3 different times by different people. We ordered flights (we did NOT eat here), and had them in front of us within a few minutes. Their flights are so freaking cute! My fiancé and I both got different options - they had a ton to choose from, something for everyone. We didn't try one that we hated, everything was pretty good. We hosted our welcome party for our wedding here; had about 100 guests and served food and drinks for everyone. It was so incredible! We had plenty of room, the bartenders were on it - there was never a long line at the bar. The food was great; we were able to work with people's dietary needs and the food came out on time and hot throughout the event. We even had speeches from our wedding party during the event and they had a great space to make this happen. Our guests loved the space and the food + drinks! Emily is great to work with to plan your event and we felt very taken care of throughout the event. Quite a rollercoaster review. What they do well l, they do well, everything else is like watching the US government try to pass new legislation (it's hard to not be disappointed). The staff is really nice, very friendly and has a lot of energy. The place is kind of small, but has a decent amount of seating. The drinks are atrocious. I had the Mighty Madison IPA and it's definitely not how it's described. I love IPAs and hated this beer. The Raspberry Fizz tastes watered down. And the root beer is pretty middle of the road. Also the only brewery where I've seen multiple people leave with glasses of beer full. Two people left with barely touched flights! The food was great! The steak sandwich was great and the grilled cheese was much better than I expected. My wife really liked the tomato soup. My only complaint is that the kids mac and cheese was Kraft. Came to WP for Spring Break, accidentally stubble into Big Trout Brewery and we were thankful for their promptness and attentiveness! We basically ordered everything, both soups, hummus, sandwiches. I liked that they were small portions, came out fast and were very hot! We would recommend the Pesto Chicken sandwich, potato soup and the potato skins, all yummy. Tom and Emily Caldwell and Team have done something amazing here - so if you are visiting the Winter Park area - you don't want to miss it. The Caldwells have been proud members of this amazing community since 2006 - and are avid fly fishers. They started working on a plan to start their own brewery in the spring of 2017 - and recently opened in Wk-1 July, 2020. Although I did not visit until mid-September 2020, what I found was amazing: 1.) superb open and airy spaces with LOTs of room, 2.) ample seating indoors and out, 3.) a wonderful staff, let by Johnny who was behind the bar (and appropriately masked during the COVID-19 outbreak), 4.) great bathrooms that were also clean as a whistle! 5.) some really great brews in their Angler's Amber and Zonker's Nut Brown (Ale), 6.) great owners who were very personable and easy to connect with, 7.) cool swag in tee shirts & possibly the coolest koozie ever. With our 2 week visit to the area, this was the most relaxing and 'normal' outing we had - and quite possibly over the past 6 months. If I had found this place in my first few days of my visit, I would have been a regular! I attribute 100% of what I experienced here to the vision, hard work and dedication of the Caldwell's and their amazing Team. I can't wait to go back, as this place is gonna be HUGE! read more

Great place to chill out with food and beer after long day of skiing in Winter Park! I enjoyed all the beers I tried except the Raspberry Wheat (not much raspberry flavor, or any flavor for that matter, and it was kind of flat). My favorites were Alpine Lake IPA, Pale Morning Dun and Haze in the Valley. We each got a personal size pizza. It was pretty good! This is a great place in Winter Park to stop and get a beer. There is outdoor seating. This is one of the first places we have gone since March because of Covid. They allow dogs on the patio. We really liked Big Trout! When we arrived we were greeted immediately and were able to,select where we wanted to sit. Our waitress/bartender was super friendly and down to earth. We both sampled a few 4oz beers; my favorite was the raspberry wheat. Refreshing on a 40 degree day! I also enjoyed the brown and stout as well. 'It's the season the start drinking my favorite style of beers! We also split a chicken sandwich which came with chips and started with the pretzel bites. I'm a big fan of craft breweries, especially family-owned ones in our home state(!), so I was excited to try Big Trout. However, my friends and I left disappointed on 3/26/22. Our party of three was told to sit at a two-person table. We pointed out it was a bit small for three grown men (who would be ordering food and beer!), and were rudely told the bigger tables were for larger parties. I get it, you're running a business, but don't be unpleasant about it. It seems this is a recurring issue here, based upon other reviews. We moved to counter seating by the windows to have a bit more room. The bright spot was the male server wearing glasses; he is kind and considerate. High five to him! The beers were disappointing. We tried a milkshake IPA, a pale ale, and a nitro stout. The nitro stout was ok, but the others were below standard. Maybe I'm spoiled by great beer in Colorado, but my friend and I both thought the beers were underwhelming. If the beers were great I would have settled for the iffy service. But, why have an attitude if the beer doesn't back it up? I feel bad posting this about a family business, but we were misled by good reviews so I felt obligated to post here. read more

Ventured to Big Trout while visiting some friends in Winter Park. Loved that this is a very spacious place, because there were 8 of us including 4 little ones. I had an IPA which was great and we ordered a bunch of different things for the table. I really enjoyed the grilled cheese sandwich, cheese curds and mac n cheese bites.
