Our second time to the original Broken Compass location, we like visiting both spots when in town. It's cool to go where the locals go, and we don't feel too out of place that everyone knows each other, other than us, because there's lots of dogs to pet while we're there. Drink beer and pet dogs is a very fitting slogan for this place. Wanting to try some different beers tonight, we had quite the flight: 1 - American Dream Cream Ale 2 - Irish Red 3 - Mexican Lager 4 - Ginger Pale Ale 5 - Fruit Ninja Blonde 8 - Lostoberfest Marzen 10 - Mangy Moose Spruce Tip Pale Ale My two favorites were the Cream Ale and the Marzen. Following the flight, I enjoyed a pint of the Cream Ale. My wife liked the Marzen and the Mangy Moose the best, and she enjoyed two pints of the Marzen. Employees and customers are all very friendly. Best brewery in Breck. They have 2 locations, their original is just outside of town off Highway 9 by the recycling center and their newer location is on Main Street walkable if you are staying close to the center town. We fell in love with their original location years ago. Their beer is fantastic. The service and atmosphere, though, is what keeps us coming back. The Broken Compass team works at both locations. Claire was our favorite team member but everyone on the team does a great job at inviting you to feel welcome. They're amazing. My favorite beer is their coconut porter. It has a hint of fresh coconut and is a lighter side of porter, not too syrupy. It's well balanced and might I dare say--it's perfect. That said, I haven't had a beer here that I didn't like. They have a great layout at the original location, though you wouldn't think it being in a commercial warehouse. There's a big garage door that opens in the back to outdoor seating. There's this amazing mural in the back of the building. The crowd there all seem to know each other which I am amazed at each time we visit. It's a more local vibe at the original location than the more touristy accessible location on Main Street. The original location has a super cozy vibe, lots of board games (or bring your own). I've been going to Broken Compass for years. They don't have any food, but you are welcome to bring your own. The bartenders always know the beers very well and will get you something that you will like. The original location is in a bit of an industrial area, but there is plenty of parking, the locals are friendly, and the scenery outside is great! read more

I'm not happy to write this review. My group and I had a nice time at Broken Compass on 17 March for trivia night. The beer was fine. I was running a tab. When I went up to pay my tab at 9 pm, the bartender couldn't find it. Then he said he may have already processed it.??? He asked me what beers I ordered and then he charged my card (again .. I found out). He was adamant that if I was double charged on my card, I should return and he would "do me right". I was double charged, so I returned on 19 March and talked with a different bartender. He took my name and also assured me I would get my money back, " ... even if I have to Venmo you myself". That was two weeks ago. I have reached out to the second bartender numerous times (via text) and he has continued to assure me that I would be made whole, but there has been no action. If there is someone higher up in the organization that I should talk to, I'd appreciate if I could get a name / phone number so we could discuss this matter. read more

Stopped by recently on my way back to Frisco from Breck. Located on a warehouse type of street but with nice views. Walked in the front door and quickly picked up on the "locals" vibe vs. the more tourist-oriented breweries in the area. Definitely caught a few "who are you?" stares as I made my way to the bar, but the barkeep was super friendly and put me quickly at ease. Had the Mangy Moose Pale Ale which was tasty. I haven't been here in many years, but this is one of those places I will specifically drive from Denver to, because of the most amazing Coconut Porter that I have tried as of yet! If memory serves me correctly, last visit, one of the workers explained they select the coconut shavings and roast them in-house, just for this beer. The summer atmosphere; I went on a Thursday at noon. Not super busy, but amazing music, perfect beer and a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere! Plenty of gifts to buy, from tee shirts, insulated cups, mugs and stickers. My travel was just for a motorcycle day-ride, and I brought home a growler of the Coconut Porter I love. I will definitely be planning a trip back to stock up. One of the local guys ordered a pizza and had it delivered and it smelled amazing! Next time, I'll do a review on the pizza when I order one! Absolutely get why this brewery is so highly rated. I was out with my husband and pup on a hot summer Saturday for a hike at Sawmill reservoir. The plan was to camp out by the water and have a picnic but it was way too crowded, so we finished our hike and made our way to downtown. We walk into the brewery (yes with our dog) and it was peaceful and quiet. Jake, our bartender was super welcoming and we had a lovely conversation about different topics. He made some great beer recommendations and we posted up at one of their tables and enjoyed our picnic! I'm not much of a beer drinker but I absolutely loved their ginger themed one. It was refreshing and the flavor was incredible. My husband loved the coconut porter. Was a truly wonderful experience and at very low cost. We got to enjoy our food indoors with our pup away from the heat, listen to great music with fantastic service and company over delicious beer. What more can you ask for! I was on a jog when I passed by and got curious. I returned with the family after my jog and had a tasting flight. I'm an IPA person, so the It All For Nanukie West Coast was my favorite. The coconut porter was nice and balanced. I enjoyed the ginger pale ale, which was more flavorful than most pale ales. The Zamba Juice hazy was also decent. The chili pepper pale ale was fun and interesting. I probably won't be back anytime soon because I don't live around here, but I enjoyed stumbling upon this gem by happenstance. I gotta say, I am not a fan of "Breck". It reminds of a fake, plastic "town" in a Florida theme park. Artificial and gross. This brewery though, on the outskirts? May have been one the best breweries I've ever been to. First the bartender: Jake*. He was amazing! Friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. A brewtender will almost always have one of those traits. Maybe 2 if you're lucky. But 3?! Unheard of. An example that illustrates what I'm talking about: He was serving at least a dozen beer drinkers, and looked laid back and chill the whole time! I asked him what hops were in "Zamba Juice" and he looked at me with a friendly but confused look. He was like "is that a trick, Zamba!" I am an avid homebrewer and I seek out weird hops. I often buy experimental hops that have not even been named yet! However, I had never heard of Zamba. The Hazy IPA they made with it here was quite good! As soon as it's available from my supplier, I'm in for a pound! We also split a sampler of 4 beers. I was impressed that their sampler had slots for 6 beers. I have 6 taps at my house for homeberew and...it seems like every single taster tray on Amazon/at-homebrew-shops only has 4 slots? I asked him where they got it, and he wasn't sure. But he told me to bring him some homebrew next time and I had to sadly tell him that I live in Alaska and that wasn't likely : ( There were also some very friendly dogs here! The kind where the owner doesn't even have to say that red-flag statement "he's friendly!"...because...he's actually friendly, and he speaks for himself! If I ever end up in 'Breck again, Jake is getting some homebrew! *If you know anything about me you know that I'm horrible with names (and increasingly, even faces, ugh). I'm also often skeptical of reviews that name-drop constantly because they seem a little fakey, like they know everyone. Our all time favorite spot - Breckenridge and beyond. This brewery has the greatest vibe. Local but still caters to out of towners. Every bartender is courteous as well as knowledgeable and makes you really feel at home. The beers are also incredible - they have a few staples that are on the menu consistently, but we never miss an opportunity to try their new beers. We have never been disappointed. They have a great crowd every week for trivia that is fun and exciting. We have even booked a private party here the night before our wedding and our guests had a blast and raves about beers / bartenders. I loved hanging out at Broken Compass Brewing. I had so much fun trying the beers, being outside at the picnic tables, and chatting with our server. I haven't been out to restaurants, breweries, or bars because of COVID, and Broken Compass Brewing is the first spot I've hung out at since March. I chose it because I needed a beer after hibernating, but also because of the outdoor seating and option to order delivery from local pizza places. The outdoor tables had plenty of space between them, the server was wearing a mask and gloves, and there were arrows taped on the floor to direct people inside. It felt really safe, and I appreciate that. Now onto the beer - wooooooowza! I decided to go with a flight to get a taste of all the different types of beer Broken Compass has to offer. One of my favorites was the Ginger Pale Ale - easy to drink, crisp, just the right amount of ginger so that the beer wasn't overpowered. I'm also not usually a big dark beer fan, but the Coconut Porter may have converted me. It was so smooth and had a slight sweet finish from the coconut (that coconut oooeeee, let me tell you). My friend chose a flight with IPAs, and really loved it too, so if you're a big IPA fan, you should give it a go. It was also great that we were able to order pizza delivery. The greasy food paired with a flight of beers, was just what I needed. I'm so glad I was able to enjoy time with a friend while sipping some amazing brews and taking a pause from the craziness. I've been here a few times now. It's the perfect place for a little après after Breck, especially if you park in the airport lot. We were there when they had a socially distanced band playing out of their pickups (parked next to each other) in the back with outdoor seating only. Another couple of times when there was limited indoor seating. The views from the back aren't great with Airport Rd right there, but at least you're not overlooking traffic. The beers that I've tried there have all been exceptional. I think my favorite is the Ginger Pale Ale. I've seen a food kiosk out front, but haven't eaten from it, an I'm not sure they are part of BCB though. They have a good swag selection from koozies to bike jerseys and even mittens! I'd like to say I'm a regular, but they don't know me yet, but they will. Happily recommend Broken Compass as one of the solidest breweries I've been to. read more

After checking out the Breckenridge distillery, I was happy to see that this brewery was just a short walk away. I had never been and knew nothing about it. When we arrived there were a TON of people inside and outside, and it turns out that there was a going away party for one of the employees. I was worried we would not get great service, but I was wrong. They welcomed us to the party and atmosphere with open arms. I was also happy to discovered that their beer was amazing! Both my boyfriend and I (who both like very different styles of beer) were able to find something we loved. Everyone in the place seemed to be having fun. Once during the "original" part of the pandemic and once last week. Now that their seating is back to normal, it's even better! First of all, I have not had a single bad beer here. Their coconut porter is simply wonderful and their WAPP (sour) and Zamba Juice (hazy IPA) are fantastic. You can get crowlers here or fill your growler to go as well. When I found out that they also have trivia on Tuesdays, I was all in. A lot of locals come in to play, but we were treated just like we were regulars. The trivia host was great and there were lots of fun but challenging questions. She even gave us a free beer when my wife knew the answer to a random question. ... and last, but certainly not least, there are DOGS. Yes, you can really pet dogs while you're here! It's super dog friendly and there lots of good people. You really can't go wrong! read more

Being in the beer state of America, I'm not surprised this place rocked. We came for a quick drink to celebrate the 4th and was welcomed to live music and lots of dogs; there's no better combo! The bar was pretty packed but we got our drinks in a timely and friendly fashion. I heard over and over again the bartender thanking patrons for coming and celebrating with them. I got their ginger pale ale and LOVED IT! They also came in the cutest glasses. Came here with a group of 18 guys as part of a bachelor party. We grabbed drinks and headed outside. They are dog friendly and have lots of your basic bar/lawn games. Everyone got different beers, which was nice because they have quite a variety. Most people really raved about the coconut porter, which was dark, slightly sweet yet also bitter like a dark chocolate. They have a bunch of t-shirts for sale and there is definitely a mountain/Colorado vibe. They even have a pay it forward wall where you can buy a beer or part of a tab for someone in the future and set whatever qualifications you want around redemption. Cannot say anything negative about this brewery. I'm a huge fan of their mango passion fruit sour that I brought a growler back to Chicago and the boy bought a tshirt. I love that you can bring your dog indoors (leashed so your dog doesn't start marking everywhere or pooping without you knowing). Courtney and Dan are so friendly (maybe it's because they're both from the Chicagoland area haha). They have a nice overflow lot across the street in case you can't find parking. They don't serve food but you can bring your own in. They have a new location on Main Street which is super convenient if you're in the area. Great little brewery right next to Breck! Perfect for your après ski needs. I haven't tried all their brews but the ones I've had have been delicious. Most recently I tried the W.A.P.P., a Western Agriculture Palisade Peach sour. Honestly the name of the beer itself had me ready to try it, hahaha! Love the creativity. My first time here, and what a gem! This place was just what I needed after a long day skiing. I had dropped my puppy off at the daycare just up the street and noticed the large brewery sign. With all the pizza rolls in my fridge I really wanted something small for the drive home but also a space that was dog friendly. Sure enough, this place allowed dogs in the taproom... But not your ski boots. Inside it was really well adapted to covid with tables 6 feet apart and wood blocks indicating clean/dirty. Beers are ordered at the bar and it looked like we could order additional food outside. The beers were also great. I tried the Westy, Citra and the New Zealand one. The Westy was perfectly hoppy and citrusy. The Citra was similar but maybe a smidge lighter on hops. And the New Zealand one would make a great intro to IPAs for anyone curious, since it's a super light and hazy taste. read more

Full of energy and no one in this busy bar had to wait for a drink. I'm not a beer drinker but Benji made some suggestions and gave me testers for a bunch. I appreciate that becuase I'd had to order a full glass and not like it. There was a trivia game going that day. That was fun to participate in! Felt kind of... well ... uninformed for round 1.
