Wow! This place is a true hidden gem in the mountains. The craft beers here are seriously impressive, and the BBQ even more so. I don't think I've ever had a better French dip sandwich in my life. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and THOSE BEANS! Unbelievably good. I would walk up the canyon from Boulder if it meant getting a seat at the bar with company as good as the bartender, Dylan. Have visited busey brews a few times during our month long visit to Nederland. The staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. We have enjoyed the Reuben, nachos, beet salad, hot link, mac & cheese, beers and their seltzer. Kyle the owner couldn't be more personable and we always enjoyed speaking with him. We visited for live music on a Sunday and it was great. It's nice and cozy indoors, they have a wonderful back patio with heaters and a high top fire pit surrounded by bar stores as well as an outdoor area for people who bring in their dogs. Driving through on the Peak to Peak Highway. Were we happy we tried this place. The food was so fresh! The most moist and tender meats the pulled pork, brisket and turkey. Amazing food, amazing staff, and hands down the BEST smoked wings in Colorado! These are true smoked wings -- not the kind that get smoked and then fried. The pulled pork was my favorite, tender and smoky, the brisket was dry as it comes and man, it just kinda sucks when you've had juicy brisket before/ could have been a bad batch. We stopped here for lunch after a long morning hike. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and the food was terrific. I ordered the reuben -- absolutely excellent. I added the brisket chili as a side as well as cornbread. In the photo you can see part of the sandwich is missing; my wife took part of the sandwich before I could take a photo. :-) She ordered the wings, half with the bourbon bacon and half with the garlic parm. Both excellent and we had enough left over for dinner tonight. I had a ginger hard seltzer and we bought 2 pints of ginger beer to go. We ate on the patio; they said we would need to order online but they came out and took our order anyway...I guess it wasn't all that busy. I am from Kansas City and am a bbq snob. Awesome kombucha, great food, and great service! I stopped in Nederland in January and arrived at Busey Brews around 11AM. We sat on their heated deck which is beautiful, very warm, and offers great views of the downtown area and mountain tops. Today I had a bowl of their green chili for the first time and it was flavorful, tasty, and had just the right amount of kick! Their housemade kombucha is always good, I highly recommend trying it, even if you're not a kombucha person. It's not as strong as others I've tried and it has a sweeter flavor with some bite. Sadly, we decided not to come here any more. We had a bad experience and the owner gave us a discount to use if we would come back. We came back twice, and both times, they forgot to apply the discount and I didn't notice it until we got home. The second time this happened, I let the owner know by email and his reaction was pretty unconcerned. I know that running a restaurant is hard, complicated work, but twice? The food and beer are great here, and the service is friendly but c'mon. They've automated service to the point where you can't order except through a QR code if you're on the patio. It's nice that any server can see your order status with this system and step in to help, but they seem to have disregarded real-life business processes, like letting customers know that patio orders are all-QR and applying discounts to orders. I'm tired of struggling with businesses that assume everybody uses a smart phone, even though an increasing number of people don't. We don't like the security on internet-connected phones, so try not to use them and try not to use QR codes, which can get infected with malware pretty easily - and we're IT professionals who understand security and what can happen when you disregard it, not Luddites. They don't tell you when they seat you on the patio that you can't order without QR. Then, when you make a point of sitting inside so you can order human-style, they lose the discount they offered you for the QR mistake. Wish this weren't the case, because we prefer independently owned restaurants, especially these days when it's so difficult to keep them in business, and really like the food, the beer and server Stephanie. The BBQ looked so good, we tried as much as we could: ribs, brisket, wings, and pulled pork. The flavors were great, smoky meat and delicious rubs. They didn't overcook to mush like some BBQ restaurants do, everything had a perfect texture of tender yet firm. Sauce was available, but use it sparingly so you don't cover up the meaty artistry. Quite a range of beers on tap made in house. Many intriguing offerings, with well sourced ingredients. After a recent mountain bike ride we popped in for a beer to enjoy before heading home. I had a winner winner das Berliner a 4% kettle sour Berliner Weiss, which was light, refreshing and the perfect post ride hydration. We grabbed a scoop of the free popcorn to snack on and enjoyed a table on the back dog-friendly patio where we could keep an eye on our bikes. We enjoyed a beautiful garden view, laughed at the adorable pups and left happy. Parking was a bit of a challenge, even on Sunday evening, but it was worth the trouble. read more

This place is a must go when visiting Ned. The outdoor patio has completely transformed the atmosphere and is one of my favorite spots to grab a beer and bite to eat. There's a big fireplace center and bar seating over the river. They have big pull down screens that block out some of that famous wind and keeps the patio usable into the later months. The Nightmare on First street pumpkin beer is one of my faves I wait for each year. We popped by for their Oktoberfest event and the pretzel and brat were delicious and super fun and festive. read more

We stopped by around lunchtime after enjoying a fall hike. It was super busy that day so we put our names on the waitlist. After waiting 45 minutes or so, we were finally notified a table was ready for us. We were prepared for the wait, what frustrated us was that the host didn't tell us that the tables on the front porch are first come first serve and that we could have just sat there rather than hop on the waitlist (they were open the whole time we waited). Anyway, we sat on the covered patio area which was nice and even had a little fire as the air started to turn cold. Everything is ordered via QR code which made ordering easy, but service in general was kind of slow the whole day. The beer was fine but my husband thought his Mexican lager was quite watery. Everything here (bbq meats) was severely overcooked. The brisket was so overcooked and dry I wouldn't even feed it to my dog lest he choke to death. Same for the "pulled pork" which wasn't actually pulled. It was just a hunk of overcooked pork shoulder hard as a rock. Baked beans overcooked and vinegary ewwww. Ribs overcooked and burned to a crisp. I don't understand the great reviews for this place. Service was awful too. read more

What a gem! I needed to pull the cord on life and get out of town for a few days to decompress. Found a little place in Nederland last minute and booked it. Up here for a few days to decompress and take a "digital fast". Stumbling around looking for something to eat. The place last night was "meh", so today I fired up the phone and did a search. It brought me here. The store-front is deceiving. It looks like your average hole-in-the-wall bar, and I wanted a good meal. But the reviews said to "try it" and so I did. Here I am. WHAT A GEM!! The bar area is, well, a bar area. clean and nice, but nothing to write a review about. But do yourself a favor and go out back to the heated (winter) patio. It is not your average patio, there are thick screens to block the wind, which means that I'm sitting here in February with snow on the ground, and only a gentle breeze (heated by the overhead lamps). So if you can't wait for spring, come spend the afternoon/evening on the patio. The barbecue was among the best that I've had (I had the 1/2lb platter), and the beer... EXACTLY what I was looking for. Staff was friendly and attentive - but not bothersome like that needy black lab that can't tell when you already love him to the moon and back. The perfect mix of mountain atmosphere, and real world food and drink. First meal in Nederland over the weekend brought us to Busey Brews. I knew they were a pub but the aroma of BBQ that hit our noses when we walked in was overwhelming. They smoke all their own meats in house! The taproom is extremely cozy and something you'd expect in a small mountain town. They recently remodeled their back deck that boasts a fire pit and mountain views. Inside has a rustic feel that makes you feel right at home. Beer and BBQ is one of the greatest pairings of all time. I landed on their pale ale to start and this got my palette warmed up for smoky flavors. I ordered a big ole platter with St. Louis ribs, smoked buffalo wings, mac and cheese and baked beans. Woah. Right off the bat you get that smoke. You can tell it's all done in house and not an inferior product heated up in the microwave. Honestly everything was solid, with the ribs and mac being my clear winners. The ribs were extremely tender, while the cheese sauce coating the mac was stellar. Wings were smokey with a tiny bit of heat. I do wish they made their own ranch instead of the accompanying sauce packet with the wings. Plus the carrots and celery had seen better days. The best part of the entire experience were the few staff members we encountered. They each asked us if we had been in before, and explained their concept and signature items prior to us ordering. We even had some confusion on our bill and they apologized profusely. These little mountain towns can be hit or miss with food and service, it's refreshing when a staff is passionate and well trained! I ordered a crowler for the road and although it wasn't my favorite beer, this will be a must stop for us in Ned. Love these kind of places that are equally comfortable during all seasons! read more

Great beer and incredible smokey wings make for a nice stop after a hike in the area. They have dog friendly outside seating in a large area behind the restaurant. Pictured here are the sliders & Turkey club. Sliders - chicken thigh and pork with slaw topper for $1.50. Both were delicious and the perfect amount when you want a little variety. Turkey club - really good and an interesting take on an old classic. The Turkey is thick and juicy with a nice smoky flavor. Add in the sun-dried tomato aioli and it's kicked up a notch. A great, casual meal and for a good value. The people are also super down to earth and provide attentive & friendly service. Payton & Josh were both welcoming & super nice. A favorite stop when we visit Nederland. Bathrooms could be a bit cleaner. There wasn't any soap during this last visit. read more

They had a very large selection of their own brews. My husband had a lager and I had their red. Both were very good! We would have loved to have tried some of their darks. The couple next to us were drinking them and couldn't stop talking about how good they were. The BBQ pork sandwich was delicious! My husband and I split the $16 plate and was more than enough for both of us. We sat at the bar and the service was typical for bar service. There was only one bartender and it was pretty crowded. Also they had a sign at the door saying you should expect a 25 minute wait after you order your food. At least they let you know what to expect. read more

Went to Ned with my parents visiting and stopped at Busey for lunch after hiking Sugarloaf! We had our dog with us so it was nice they had outside seating - it looks like they're working on building an outdoor deck which will be awesome. My husband and I got a milk stout and nut brown which were both very solid. For lunch, everyone got the BBQ platter. My husband and I shared the brisket with cornbread, beans and brisket chili - the brisket was very juicy and tender! Also loved all the three bbq sauces they offer. We also got bourbon wings - they were good but the sauce was a little sweet (wish I got the dry rub). My parents enjoyed the brisket and pork but weren't a huge fan of the chicken. To top it off, someone from inside came out with spelt grain dog treats for all the doggos and they loved it - awesome touch! read more

This is one of a handful of places in Nederland that I patronize with some regularity. Their wings and the Brisket Royale are two of my favorites, but I also sometimes enjoy the Smokin' Sandwich or The Busey Club. Portion sizes are mostly reasonable for the price (though this does vary by menu item) and the quality of their brews has really improved in recent years. They also make a great kombucha and ginger beer and have the ability to can these (as well as beers) for takeout purchase. If you get the Nachos, I recommend upgrading by adding a protein as the basic version is, well... basic. Also, the cheese is a mixture of cheese sauce and real cheese. Service has always been good and parking is easy most of the time, though if you are on 1st Street during peak hours (weekends and holidays, mostly) it can be a bit trickier. There's a nice dog friendly patio out back in the summer months. Overall, this is a good place that I recommend to visitors regularly. I recommend it to Yelpers, as well! read more
