    French Dip

Incredible bar and grill in the scenic Rocky Mountains. We came in starving after a round at a nearby disc golf course. The staff was affectionate and got us drinks and orders immediately. As we waited for our food, we were able to take in the amazing setting that this restaurant has. The views of local nature are breathtaking and the personality inside the bar is amazing too. The food was equally as impressive. I was able to try a couple different flavors of wings, chicken tenders, and fries, and they were all great. My brother absolutely loved his French dip sandwich. We already decided we're going back anytime we play that course.

Overall a wonferful experience. Our server was amazing and so kind. They had blankets for guests for the evening when it gets chilly which added to the vibes and really made us feel at home. The server recommended the platter and wow - everything was cooled to perfection and tasted so good! will be back for sure! 10/10

Loved this place! Perfect meal after a long hike with a great view! Super kind staff!

    Lamb shank with smashed potatoes.

New owners and the food is amazing! Tried the lamb shank with mash potatoes and it was very very good. No more fried everything here and the portions are big.

Atmosphere was nice, but I paid $18 for a terrible burger. Tasted like a frozen patty and the bacon was like dog treats.

We just made it a few minutes before the end of happy hour and was able to give the Pork Green Chili Cheese Fries and the Fried Pickles a try. Amazing prices for their happy hour too! We had burgers, the salmon risotto and the steak sandwich. Everything was so tasty. If I had to absolutely nitpick, the fried pickle is the chip style that I love but it was way over seasoned. When the Latina in the group tells you it's too salty, that's telling you something. I tried the pickle on the burger and it was already brined salty, then if you bread that and fry it and then season it... it was unbelievably salty.... Overall the salmon was well cooked, the burgers juicy and the steak sandwich super tender. The bar decor was super pretty and the service amazing.... I would definitely be back and highly recommend to check out their happy hour!

They are also dog-friendly which is a fun feature, but we went on a busy day and there were a bunch of dogs inside and outside, which I have to wonder if so many animals are indoors does this become a food safety issue? I will say our server was very nice, but the food was sub par to say the least. The items we ordered were severely under seasoned. They were quite bland and lacked any depth of flavor. The items on the menu had average prices to them, so there was no sticker shock on that end but, when did restaraunts start charging extra for sides of ranch?! It's not enough to cover your restaraunt costs with the $25 burger I just ordered? This restaraunt is located in a touristy town, so I'm sure they get all the traffic they need, but as a local I will not be back!

For apps, the fried avocado is my favorite (Mexican street corn, Cotija, bacon, chipotle aioli) and their deviled eggs are a nice, reliable choice too. The star of the show is the 242 Smashed Burger (their brisket + short rib blend) is incredible -- juicy, flavorful, and consistently well-executed. Might be the best burger I've had. I've also loved the meatball sub and on another visit enjoyed the short ribs -- all solid entrees. Portions are generous and the menu has a lot of thoughtful, tasty options. Service has been consistently good on every visit -- friendly and attentive staff who keep things moving without feeling rushed. Owner Dave is always welcoming when he's around, which makes the place feel community-oriented and genuine. Overall I highly recommend Tavern 242 if you're in the area -- great burgers, tasty apps, dependable service, and a comfortable atmosphere.

We were sat without delay, the inside is cute and gives a mountainy cabin vibe. They are a brewery and also a distiller, I tried their Housemade vodka, seltzer, it was light and easy to drink. They had a multitude of flavors to choose from as well. I wasn't super hungry so I went with the tomato artichoke soup and an order of sweet potato fries. This was one of the best soups I've ever had, so creamy and cheesy with real artichoke pieces in each bite, seasoned so well and served with little pieces of naan bread The sweet potato fries were also incredible, just so fresh and cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside and just seasoned to perfection. The rest of the table tried the burgers and had great things to say about them. The server was also really nice and helpful, i can't remember her name but she made some great recommendations and was very attentive. Prices are reasonable and for bar food this was really a great experience. Definitely will be back!
