Cast Iron Tavern is a great little spot in Golden! It has a cozy, laid-back tavern atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We stopped in for happy hour, and I was especially excited to see a bourbon/whiskey happy hour option. Definitely a win in my book! We all ordered burgers or sandwiches, and everything was delicious. And if you're a bread pudding fan, the deep-fried bread pudding for dessert was the cherry on top of an already great experience! The first time I went here was after hiking Royal Arch as an out-of-shape 53 year old. Nearly killed me. Decided I'd earned a giant burger so we went here. I said it was the best burger I ever ate. My husband, whose hobbies include crushing joy with logic, said, "No it wasn't. It was an ordinary burger. You only think it's amazing because you almost died." Had to settle that debate, so we tried it without the kill-me-hike warmup this time. Food I don't like my burgers swimming in their own juicy filth. And these burgers are dry, juicy, beefy, and didn't almost drown in their own fat. Even the bun (brioche, I think) stayed dry as summer heat. Plus, their fries are that kind that almost seem battered. Crisp on the outside, potato-y on the inside. We also tried the deviled eggs, which was a nice update to an old classic. Atmosphere This is perfectly casual with outdoor dining (great for dogs). Big umbrellas and coverage from the summer sun. I've never eaten inside because why. Service Perfectly competent. Nobody gave us a pony. Nobody accidentally set us on fire. The food arrived quickly, while the check took its own scenic route through the restaurant. Everyone was friendly. No complaints. Value Expensive burgers at $18-22 each. But I only have burgers a few times a year, so when I do, I'm going to demand one of these from now on. read more

We had a really great time here for Saturday night dinner, came in a little before 5 and Karina took really good care of us. We just made it a few minutes before the end of happy hour and was able to give the Pork Green Chili Cheese Fries and the Fried Pickles a try. Amazing prices for their happy hour too! We had burgers, the salmon risotto and the steak sandwich. Everything was so tasty. If I had to absolutely nitpick, the fried pickle is the chip style that I love but it was way over seasoned. When the Latina in the group tells you it's too salty, that's telling you something. I tried the pickle on the burger and it was already brined salty, then if you bread that and fry it and then season it... it was unbelievably salty.... Overall the salmon was well cooked, the burgers juicy and the steak sandwich super tender. The bar decor was super pretty and the service amazing.... The sandwiches, fries, and drinks were great, phenomenal even. Our waiter was friendly and even replaced our fries when we spilt a drink all over them. The patio of the restaurant has a nice feeling to it. I feel the best way to describe it is "cast iron". I would not recommend getting the wings, as they were burnt even after we sent them back. Stopped in for lunch with my son having never been here before. We were pleasantly surprised by a menu with lots of food and cocktail options and fast friendly service. We were in the area for the weekend and found this place on yelp. The menu had me at pesto deviled eggs and lavender bees knees. Our meal was delicious, we loved that they had at least 10 tv's with a different game playing on each tv, sublime was playing in the background while we ate , and Cristin our server and bar tender did a great job. Cast Iron Tavern is a bit of a hidden gem off the main drag of 93. I've been a couple of times with friends, and it's a good spot to stop after some outdoor recreation. They have a large outdoor (dog friendly patio), and plenty of TVs too, so it makes for a good game watching spot if you live in the area. Their burgers are a very popular item, and are a whopping half pound. I opted to split one last time with a friend, and our server was such a pro that she had it split and separately plated for our convenience. Very much appreciated! We got the El Jefe--the green chili ranch is sooo addictive (and mild for those afraid of heat). I could eat an entire bucket of the sweet potato waffle fries. They have other comfort food items like candied bacon and mac & cheese, but also some more upscale entree items and feature salads, so really you can't miss. They are also dog-friendly which is a fun feature, but we went on a busy day and there were a bunch of dogs inside and outside, which I have to wonder if so many animals are indoors does this become a food safety issue? I will say our server was very nice, but the food was sub par to say the least. The items we ordered were severely under seasoned. They were quite bland and lacked any depth of flavor. The items on the menu had average prices to them, so there was no sticker shock on that end but, when did restaraunts start charging extra for sides of ranch?! It's not enough to cover your restaraunt costs with the $25 burger I just ordered? Overall, I found our lunch at the Cast Iron Tavern to be expensive and underwhelming. They are dog friendly on their patio, which is a huge plus, but the patio is not shaded and it just bakes in the sun. Our server was super friendly and is the reason that I gave it three stars instead of two the food was just OK my husband and I split a wedge salad and a burger And my son had the kids chicken tenders and fries. I was really surprised that they charged us for a side of barbecue sauce for his fries. I have never been to a restaurant that charges for a single side of sauce with chicken tenders, but I guess the Cast Iron Tavern is it. The only way I could really see us going back is if we went for drinks and maybe an appetizer on a shaded day when we had our dog with us, but I don't think that we would order off the full menu again. read more

Ok, we have a new favorite burger spot. Wow. Had the tavern burger with American cheese done to medium perfection and it's the best burger I've had in awhile. It was huge so we shared that. The waitress arrived shortly after being seated and was helpful with providing information and suggestions. Our drinks arrived quickly and the were wonderful. Was in for our first time today and overall had a good expierence. The atmosphere is rustic and divey. They have a good menu and great happy hour choices. I got the Ruben and I thought it was mediocre for being $17, but my husband had the hot wings and they were delicious. Our waitress was kind and attentive! One waitress however, was extremely rude to me when I asked for the WiFi password due to the poor cell service. One thing that really stood out to me though was how dirty their air vents were right above our table (there are balls of dust that just blow in the wind when the ac is on) and how much built up dust was on every blade of every fan. THANKS YELP! Hasn't let our group down, while traveling in Colorado. We've opted for Yelp vetted locations and everyone has loved them, where the Cast Iron Tavern is no exception. My guess is that this location is well enjoyed by locals and there was a bit of a wait as we were a group of 8. But, the good news is that the bar is VERY responsive and more than ready to keep our glasses full and the fun rolling along. We waiting outside on the deck where there's seating and counters. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the divergence. We were pleasantly surprised to be seated in our own section, with the bonus of Prime Rib being the special of the evening, how could you ask for anything more? The service was on point, with great attitudes and laughs all round. Can't say enough about the great atmosphere, service and tremendous food at the Cast Iron. They quickly put together some tables for our large group since a booth wouldn't have worked for all in our party. Clean with attentive staff. Everyone enjoyed their food.
