This was our first visit to the Bridgewater Grill, and we came away with mixed feelings. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing. Being right by the water with plenty of outdoor seating makes it a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a meal. Our service started off well. Matt, our server, was friendly and attentive at first. Unfortunately, things changed after we placed our order. After waiting about 45 minutes, we asked about our food and were told the kitchen had lost our order and was just then starting to prepare it. Considering our order was simply two hamburgers, that was disappointing. When the food finally arrived, we still had to wait another 10 minutes for some of the condiments. Throughout the meal, we were never offered refills on our drinks or water. As for the food itself, it was okay, but not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. To be fair, everyone has an off day, and it's possible Matt was new to serving or the restaurant was dealing with an unusual situation. Despite this experience, we're willing to give Bridgewater Grill another chance because the location and atmosphere are so enjoyable. Meh. The biggest win is that this is in downtown Golden which is such a cute town. And depending on where you sit, you'll get the town vibes which is worth some $ to just soak in on vacation. I got a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, which was okay. The fries needed some salt while they were warm. Daughter got the French dip sandwich which was mid, given that it was almost $30. Stopped in for a quick drink after coming down the hill from Black Hawk. Bridgewater Grill is located right along Clear Creek River which offers excellent views of the rushing water and tubers. Bridgewater Grille has expanded offering a lot more seating than in previous years. Staff and servers are always pleasant. As you will see in most of the reviews, the views at Bridgewater Grille are excellent, but the food and drinks are mediocre with higher end prices. Highly recommend the Happy Hour menu for better pricing, especially on the drinks. read more

During an evening amble along the creek, we saw Bridgewater's deck facing the creek and the foothills and decided to eat dinner there. We put our names in for a 20-minute wait for a table and found seats at the bar. Bartender Lucas was so welcoming and friendly that we decided to stay at the bar to eat and we were not disappointed! First of all, the view is gorgeous and the staff is so amiable--even when busy--that it made it super entertaining to sit there. Everyone else who bellied up to the bar was a local, which tells you a lot about the quality of the place. We had lots of fun conversations and it made a great start to our vacation. The drinks were fantastic! I got a Sidecar and it's the best I've ever had! Lucas made an off-menu Tequila Old Fashioned for my husband and it was delicious. Later he recommended a Coors-made beer that you can only get at a couple of places in town, a German lager, and it was really good. For food, we got Fried Green Tomatoes, the Prime Rib Dip, and a bowl of Colorado Green Chili. Everything was delicious but that chili was fantastic. I would go back just for that! The only caution of our entire visit was that the food took awhile to come out, so if you're starving, it might not be the right place. Checked this place out for a mid-afternoon snack after hiking and enjoyed a delicious barbecue chicken flatbread. We were able to sit out on the deck and listen to the sounds of silver Creek nearby, which was quite nice. We also tried their garlic Parmesan fries, which were quite good, but we did have to ask for garlic aïoli to accompany them, they were just served with ketchup by default. Asking for their Aioli sauce was definitely worth it though. It was a little bit heavy on the mayonnaise, but overall was very enjoyable. read more

Come for the food, stay for the service. The food was alright, more to come, but the service was some of the best we've ever had. Jeff was amazing: kind, sharp, and a true class act. We had an issue with our food not coming out correctly, but Jeff handled it so well. After the overcooked burger was sent back, he made sure we received an excellent replacement, and it turned out to be one of the best burgers we've had. Overall, the food was good, except for the two burgers that initially came out--both were overcooked and bland. So, my advice: don't order the burger. Since the remodel, this place has gone downhill fast. The old patio was one of our favorite spots in town, but the new outdoor bar was clearly designed without much thought. Although it is beautiful, it faces north with zero sun protection, which means between 4-7pm it's genuinely unbearable, we're talking sweltering, sun-blasting-your-face! We've mentioned it to staff more than once, and it's clear we're not the only ones complaining, but nothing has changed. Watching the staff work full shifts, in black uniforms in that heat with no shade is honestly hard to watch, nobody should have to work like that. Honestly, the food here has always been fairly mediocre. What kept us coming back wasn't the menu it was the people. Our favorite manager, Rachel, quietly left a few months ago, and more recently we found out that Lucas the bartender who was the real reason we kept coming back for five straight years, was let go. He knew our order before we sat down, remembered our kids' names, and made every visit feel personal. He was the reason average food felt like a great night out. Losing him isn't a small thing; it's the kind of loss that makes a regular stop being a regular. We wanted to love this place the way we used to. Unfortunately, between the design failure on the patio, the so-so food, and losing the staff who made this place special, we don't see ourselves as regulars anymore. read more

The only positive part of our experience at Bridgewater Grill was the hostess, who was the only person that seemed responsive and attentive. After being seated, we sat for quite a while with no menus and no acknowledgment. Once we finally got menus, I asked for a beer only to find out there wasn't a beer list included, so we had to wait again just to see what beers were available. The menu itself was very limited and overpriced, though I suppose you're paying for the creekside location more than the food. After we finished eating, our waitress informed us her shift was ending and asked if we could pay the check immediately, which we did. We requested a receipt but never received one. From there, service became even more disorganized. We were waiting for a friend to arrive, and once he did, it took an extremely long time just to get him a beer because we were left without a server for quite a while before another waitress finally took over. To top it all off, while we were still sitting there, the manager came by and asked us to leave because another reservation was coming in -- despite there being multiple vacant tables around us. After the poor service, delays, lack of communication, and being rushed out unnecessarily, it left a really bad impression overall. It's my birthday today. I had a reservation. The blonde girls at the front, who look (and act) like they hate their jobs, can't find it. Act like it's weird that we called in the reservation, but offered to seat us anyway. Over twenty minutes, not a soul comes to our table. Left and the girl who made someone else seat us (had to "go get more menus" rather than bother with us) refused to look at me. Way to ruin a planned birthday dinner. On June 15, 2025 we went to this business for Father's Day lunch. We were sat immediately and ordered 1 iced tea and 2 water. We placed our food order approximately 3 mins later, 2 salads and 1 sandwich. We then proceeded to wait 37 minutes for the food to arrive (which it never did) before we left to attend to other issues. We were informed that the "kitchen was busy" although when left, we were 1 of 3 tables inside the restaurant although the patio of approximately 15 tables was nearly full. Food highlights were the Bacon-Wrapped Bison Meatloaf and the Salmon BLT. Both were equally delicious. Also, if you've never tried the Herman Joseph's Private Reserve, do it now! The staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant (and the hotel) both have an old-west vibe, which I dig. I don't understand why this place currently only has a 3.5 star rating.
