I had high hopes for the Eddy but my experience there was that the food was just OK. I ordered burnt ends from their barbecue food truck and they weren't really ends or burnt. They were kind of just fatty pieces of barbecue meat. Still delicious and the sauces were great, but not really what I was hoping for. We ordered cheese curds, which were actually cubes and that is the first time I've ever seen shaped curds. They were pretty good, as was the sausage and mac & cheese, though the cheese sauce was a little thin. My mom had the focaccia grilled cheese, which had awesome flavors in it, but the focaccia itself was super thick. If we could decrease the bread by like half I think this would be an awesome choice. I think the main reason I would go to the Eddy is to hang out on their patio, especially when they have live music. It's a good view of golden in the foothills and its probably a great sunset spot. They also have a lot of good nonalcoholic options which we really appreciated - including nonalcoholic wine, which you don't see very often . I think I would stop back here on my way back from hiking or climbing in the canyon but I hope to be a little more impressed by the food next time. read more

We were looking for a dog friendly lunch! This was really the place to go with our grand pup, we called in advance to be sure we could include the dog. Yes we were told we could even bring her inside. This made all the adults so happy. We sat in/out near a huge back patio set with games and other dog owners came and went. Food selection was nice, and there were a few options for a diner with gluten restrictions, though not a dedicated gf prepared. Two men ate burgers, and I had the fried green tomato blt it was very good. So many fries on the side. Service was a smidgen slow, the waiter was attentive until near the end of our meal as more folks came and went in the restaurant. We waited a little to get final check. Unique food menu and decent beer selection. We have been twice and the service was the same both times, waited for someone to take our order and watched our beers sit at the bar while the bartender told our server a story about something going on. Food is delicious (apps and BBQ are our favorites), the drinks are inventive, service is friendly - they do get busy though so be ready for that on the weekend, but on the plus side that's when they have live local music which is a great addition. Love the mountain chic vibe - it feels like cool lodge meets gastro pub so it's great for a casual drink or a fun date night. The setting of this place is awesome! Indoor/outdoor, with a pretty good view. That's why we brought our friends there today .. To then wait more than an hour for 2 grilled cheese and 3 burgers, that arrived without toppings (sauce, pickles, onion, lettuce, etc) and without apology. We stayed here in March as a hotel guest and enjoyed the room. Parking on a weekend can be an issue as there was 2 events going on, and we found one small spot and squeezed in. I was told that if you arrive after 7 on weekends, you get a better chance for parking (uhhh but check in is at 3?). Aside from parking, the room was nice, and if you like Nespresso, they have an industrial Nespresso machine in the hallway with various milk and milk alternatives. Breakfast is included (hence the "resort fee") and there is something for everyone, even vegetarians and vegans! Ask for the breakfast burritos. They're not made fresh in house, but the company that makes it does a good job. Quite tasty. We did have a meal there and it was good. Drinks were even better. Overall nothing bad about the place, but parking is the reason why it's not 5 stars. read more

To start off with, this hidden gem in golden is still new... but worth the visit! When walking in on a Friday evening, the outdoor patio was pretty busy with people enjoying the food, live music, decor, and drinks. But taking another look around you will notice this dog friendly spot is kid friendly as well. There are large chess pieces and a giant board to play and a cornhole set, all spread out so people can still enjoy the picnic table seating. Not to mention- the adarondake chairs and fire pit are super alluring to sit at so you and your friends can take in the gorgeous views of the Golden foothills. We ordered a few things. My friends loved their warm grain bowls which rotate throughout the seasons and the burger which I didn't even get to investigate since it was gone so quickly. I ordered the roast half chicken which is Chicken Au Jus which was wonderful. The potatoes on the side were nothing special which a small letdown. But the Au Jus sauce and the chicken were cooked perfectly!! This is a great spot to come to following a bike ride up the mountain as it is off the bike trails or to stop in after the dogs get to play at the 8th street dog park right around the corner. We will definitely be back and wish we had found it sooner! read more

We really enjoyed our stay here. It's in a great area in Golden and the rooms have everything you need. We were pleasantly surprised that they had e-bikes free for our use and there is a great safe trail that takes you all kinds of cool areas of town. The food at the restaurant wasn't really spectacular and we were a little disappointed that there wasn't more indigenous things on the menu. The breakfast was a big disappointment. Came the day after they opened. Drink selection and menu were terrific and reasonably priced, back patio is gorgeous with a stunning view, a lovely fire pit, and a nice variety of seating options... I was pleased we were able to enjoy the place before the rest of Golden finds out about it. It will surely be packed as soon as word spreads (great for the establishment, but a bummer for us locals!). 4/5 stars because loud, rambunctious kids aged 3-7 nearly outnumbered the adults on the patio, which ruined what could've been a relaxing, sophisticated vibe. Normally I wouldn't fault the location for this, but The Eddy offers cornhole, a (noisy) oversized Jenga set, and an open patch of artificial turf in a relatively small space -- it all just begs for kids to come run wild while their parents have a drink. We'll be back -- it's a great place -- but maybe next time after bedtime. ;) read more

In the area where the Eddy is located it is indeed far above average as far as food and drink is concerned, if it were downtown or in the highlands it would be a different story. The service however is truly the slowest on planet earth. We have been here several times and will continue to return because for the area it is a diamond in the extreme rough, but for crying out loud FOH, put your skates on!! read more

The beer options and the large pretzel were the selling point for this location. Our food was delicious, albeit a bit salty and took forever coming out of the kitchen. We watched 4 tables being served after or order went in, so if you order from the dinner menu (other than apps or salads) be prepared to spend 1 to 2 hours. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights. When I came in I was immediately welcomed by helpful staff, and some wonderful beer in the taproom. The burnt ends mac n cheese is excellent! You also can't beat the free continental breakfast and coffee. This is the place to stay in Golden! Will be coming back for sure. read more

We stayed at the hotel. Check in had more steps that were reasonable. The beds and pillows were nice. We had to call down to request towels, but they got them to us right away. The toiletries smell really nice. They have a NesCafe maker which hopefully you know how to use before trying it as there are no directions. Good hotel. Now, as for the Taproom, I have to tell you that it was subpar. It was really close, so we ended up there three times, but we didn't care for the staff's attitude any of the times. 1. After checking in, we had a waiter who was prompt to the table but then ignored us and avoided us the rest of the time we were there. A waitress kept going to tables and talking about her life very loudly. By looking at the patrons' faces, it was obvious they wished she would leave. We liked the big TVs, the cleanliness, and the open sides to a patio, but we left because the service was so terrible. 2. After dinner somewhere else, we came back and decided to try drinks on the patio. We had the waitress who like to talk, but this time she was obviously ready to go home. It was close to closing time, so since we were staying at the hotel, we asked for drinks to go. She was very fast at getting them and the bill for us and told us about the rooftop seating on the 4th floor (basically redeeming the former behavior). There are four or five chairs on the side we went to with two long gas fireplaces. It was pretty windy, so the corner one wouldn't work, but the one we were at was great. 3. We went in for a bite before we left town. We ended up having lunch. I had fish tacos that were ok. The fish was chewy, but the flavor was good. Our waitress kept disappearing, and at one point it seemed like she wished we would leave, even though there were few patrons around - she had a snippy attitude. After these three experiences, I would not go back to this hotel or taproom. To make it just that much worse, our truck was broken into in their parking lot and all of our luggage stolen. I hope they get security cameras out there because I didn't see any. One more note, they have a giant chess set and Cornhole, which kept many of the guests busy and happy. read more
