Loved the concept here! You can pour your own beer or cocktails by the ounce, which was perfect for me since I'm not able to drink a full pint or glass. Being able to sample just an ounce or two of different drinks was such a great option! There are a few food spots downstairs, with sushi available upstairs. I enjoyed some BBQ, tacos, icecream, with a couple of small beer pours while sitting outside overlooking the creek. Such a cool and unique concept, and I wish more places like this were available!
The modern world forces a person to make too many final decisions. You must commit to a career, a mortgage, and a twenty-ounce glass of alcohol before you even know if you like the taste of it. The Golden Mill rejects this entire high-stakes arrangement. Instead, they hand you a plastic card embedded with a microchip and invite you to wander around a historic, converted flour mill, conducting small, low-risk experiments on your own nervous and digestive systems. The mechanics are blissfully simple. You hand the host a credit card, they link it to a Golden Mill RFID card, and you instantly become a fully automated, self-regulating consumer. There are forty taps on the main wall downstairs and another sixteen up on the roof. They hold local craft beers, macro brews, ciders, wines, sake and even some premixed cocktails, all metered by the ounce. This setup creates a very specific kind of human delusion. When you are only pouring three ounces of a hazy IPA or two ounces of a heavy stout, your brain convinces itself that the laws of mathematics have been temporarily suspended. They have not. The ounces eventually conspire against you, and the tab can quietly evolve into a profound financial surprise the next morning. If you happen to get hungry during your experiments, there are five different food concepts scattered around the floor, covering everything from wood-fired barbecue and street tacos to sushi and fried chicken. If you are traveling with a group of friends whose dietary preferences have absolutely nothing in common, you can all wander off in different directions like stray livestock and reunite at the same table without a single argument. We took our glasses up to the rooftop patio. The view there is a strange study in scale. Below you is the rushing water of Clear Creek. Directly across the street sits the colossal industrial fortress of the Coors Brewery, churning out millions of barrels of macro-lager for the masses. There is a grand, quiet irony in standing on a roof, meticulously pouring four ounces of a highly specialized, small-batch sour beer while staring at one of the largest single-site breweries on the planet. When you are done, there is no agonizing wait for a server to bring a leather folder, and no competitive arithmetic over how to split the bill. You simply drop your plastic card into a collection box by the door and walk out into the Colorado night. The system automatically tallies your ounces and appends an 18% service fee to keep the house running smoothly. It is a wonderfully frictionless way to watch an afternoon accidentally become an evening.
Golden Mill is unlike anything I've experienced before! The concept is really unique and made for a fun visit. The downstairs outdoor patio is pet friendly, which was perfect for us and Luna. (The upstairs patio is not pet friendly because that's where the sushi bar is located.) The staff does a great job staying on top of clearing dishes and wiping down tables, so everything stayed clean despite how busy it was. When you arrive, they check your ID, stamp your hand to show you're 21+, and give you a card that's used throughout your visit. Every drink and food station scans your card, and drinks are charged by the ounce, so you can pour as little or as much as you'd like. They even have pre-salted glasses ready for margaritas! If you're unsure how the system works, staff members are nearby and happy to help. The food selection is impressive. There are several vendors offering everything from sushi and burgers to mac and cheese, Mexican food, ice cream, and more, so there's something for everyone. We ordered the loaded nachos, which came with chili, cheese, corn, and pico de gallo. They were really good, although I think they would have been even better with a side of guacamole and sour cream. The outdoor seating area has plenty of tables, lots of fans, and covered sections that provide welcome relief from the Colorado sun. The views are another highlight--you can overlook Clear Creek with the mountains in the background, and even see the Coors Brewery from the patio. Overall, it's a fun atmosphere, a very unique experience, and definitely worth checking out if you're in Golden.
Beautiful location! Absolutely loved the patio and atmosphere. Very dog and family friendly. Saw lots of dogs on the patio. Can order food from your phone without waiting in like. Very cool ordering system and pour your own beers. The food was tasty and good portion. The location is amazing on the river and walking distance from lots of shops and parks near by. The Golden Mill is located in an historical former flour and feed mill within walking distance of the Coors brewery. We liked it so much that we came here twice during our stay in Golden. You check in at the host stand, show your ID and card for payment, and are given a "golden mill card" that you use to run your tab for your food and drink purchases. At the end of your visit, simply drop this card in one of their blue boxes and you'll receive a text with your final receipt. There several food options, including bbq, chicken, tacos, sushi and ice cream; and two tap walls in which you use your card to activate the self-pour taps. They have a wide variety of options, from local beers and ciders, to wine and kombucha, and Coors of course. I'm not a fan of beer, but I did enjoy a couple of their sours. I also got ice cream from happy cone co on both of our visits. The sweet cream and coffee chocolate crack flavors were delicious. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating, but the rooftop area seemed the most popular, with views of the creek and mountains.
Enjoy to be on totally self-control with your self service pull beer with a lot of alcoholic & non alcoholic drinks to choose from. The ambiance here is the best of Colorado lifestyle you can get with nice ski decor, fireplace, river view. Lots of cafeteria style foodcourt to choose from. The Golden Mill is a must try when you visiting Golden.
Very fun spot right in the middle of Golden! Right across from the Coors factory. Great food options as well. We got a bbq burnt ends sandwich with Mac & cheese on the side - fantastic. Wish I coulda had 2! Wife ordered the Mexican nachos and they were alright - we regretted it after having the bbq and wished we had doubled down on that instead. Beer-ordering process is awesome- so nice to be able to serve yourself, try new things, and no need to open/close tabs with the card system. We need this everywhere

We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and had a blast! The indoor/outdoor seating is awesome, there were many options despite it being busy. All the drinks were great and we felt like appropriate priced. A perfect setting for a drink with friends in beautiful Golden.
Oh. My. Honestly, one of the worst meals I've had in a while. I think this place is probably more about the concept than the food or drinks, and I have to assume they rely on tourists vs. return business. I ordered the karaage chicken bites, and they are simultaneously dry, hard, and tasteless. Yuck. I don't think I've ever left a full meal on the table before today. I would have to be very hungry to eat this food. Since this is a serve yourself place, I felt like I'd have to be a jerk to let the establishment know how bad my food was. However, when someone came by to bus my table, she noticed the food hadn't been eaten, took the order off my bill, and was super nice. So...really great service. But I will not go back.
This place is an experience, a great one! You get a card at the front kinda like going to a Dave & Busters. The card is directly tied to your credit card, so you get to roam through the place and choose whatever you want to charge to it. Drinks are self serve! Scan the card and you pay by how much you pour! Multiple different food options ranging from sushi to BBQ to American to Mexican to ice cream! Can get a sushi roll, a burger, and an icecream! They text you to let you know when your food is ready, so make sure it's charged! It was packed on the Sunday that we went! Casual place you'll run into people in their bathing suits after the river. This is a real toss up for me. We were with a visitor who had been there when in Golden for a conference and thought we would like the concept of a food hall and like the sort of food she had there in the past. I am familiar with food halls at home in Boulder that I like and frequent regularly. This was nothing like them in so many ways. It was obvious that this is lived locally but in a holiday it was so ham packed that it was unpleasant for a newcomer to negotiate. Yes, for beer lovers the concept of self serve from the many taps and pay by the ounce Baxter so many in stock is novel, but I don't drink beer or margaritas and I could not find a simple ice tea. There were sodas from a machine which also did not suit me either. The concept of the scan card seems good for the cafeteria atmosphere and the beer supply but the food places did take credit cards, where at least you see the receipt etc. you leave the card in a box when you leave and they charge the credit card you entered to get it. No real review apparently by the customer. Most of the food I saw in menus and the tables were not my style either, huge portions of mediocre looking food. My husband had trouble figuring it part of the ingredient in the biggest burrito I have ever seen. He could not pick it up fore the crema decorating the tortilla which was thicker than any I've ever seen. On the other hand, my food was fairly good though grease dripped out at every bite. It was a Gordita made with crisp little corn cakes and the al pastor filling was tasty. The others in the group all had large portions of unappealing to me food so I did not taste and far too. Big for a healthy lunch. While we were eating at compared communal tables , the restrooms across from them were propped open for the steady stream of users. But on a holiday weekend a prime lunch time when we arrived, it was the only option. The entry line to get the pay card was nearby and the line went up the stairs to the entry with at least 20 to get and register the card, many with children in tow. Our guest knew where to park so that was no problem jf you are willing to pay to park for a meal. We were, but would have lived a quality meal and not a madhouse. The only staff person I spoke with because her food was dessert and not peak season for ice cream was so friendly and helpful and mad a custom snack size of her New Zeland style treat. She saved the day for me. I will not return but others in our party might should the occasion arise and clearly the locals who are regulars keep them well supported. I will stick with my local more intimate and curated food hall kitchens.
The Golden Mill has a great overall vibe with many food vendors, a huge beer dispenser wall and a beautiful rooftop. Even though we visited on an extremely busy weekend, we still didn't feel under serviced. The entire setting and backdrop of the mountains in Golden is beautiful and they have many fire pits and seating to fit all. We tried the chicken karage and thought that was great. Highly recommended if you are visiting Golden!
Great group spot with something for everyone Golden Mill is an awesome location if you're with a group with varying tastes or appetites. Everyone can be on their own tab and choose from a variety of food spots, and you can self-serve beer on tap, pre-mixed cocktails on tap, or soda from the fountain. Happy hour prices are great if you stop by at the right time (I believe it's mid-afternoon on weekdays). A pint of Coors was around $2.80, and all the food spots have discounted happy hour items too. We took advantage and ordered the Hurricane chicken wings from Republik of Chicken, which were tasty in an Asian-inspired sauce and great to share for the table. On a previous visit I had the Hurricane spicy chicken sandwich (from the same food stall) which I didn't find spicy, but it was overall quite yummy. This time I ordered a tuna poke bowl from Sushi Sora upstairs, a classic build-your-own poke bowl setup. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the bowl and the tuna, especially since we're in Colorado. It paired quite well with the wings we ordered for the table. Others I've been with have ordered from the BBQ place and the taco place, and had ice cream, and everyone has loved their orders. Overall, great spot with a great vibe. It's a great place to bring visitors or to stop by if you're in the area and want to enjoy some good weather, with plenty of outdoor seating as well as indoor. read more
I had a great experience at The Golden Mill and I like this food hall concept. It is a drink, eat, and socialize atmosphere spread across multiple floors. The spectacle here is a rotating showcase of beer, wine, and cocktails on a self-pour tap wall. As you can see from the photos, you identify the drink you want and pour it yourself. How it works: you obtain a swipe card from the register. Like a bar, they open a tab for you after confirming your identity (ID check) and storing your credit card information. You are then issued a Golden Mill charge card that you will swipe at the wall to pour your drinks. Pours are charged by the ounce. The cocktails are reasonably priced, however, unless you're an expert draft pourer you can rack up quite the bill trying to pour draft beer with minimal head. A worker helped me to pour my draft using his own card after my failed attempt. Workers are posted near the wall and maintain a close eye to assist customers which I believe is great customer service to mitigate user errors simply from a Murphy's Law perspective. Like many other food halls I've experienced, this one also has a good selection of food vendors ranging from BBQ, sushi, tacos, ice cream, and chicken. High tables, lounge tables, and standing areas are ample here. The scene is also a good venue for hosting small events. When I visited there was a live band performing downstairs. The customer service was very friendly. Parking nearby was not ideal and there is strict parking enforcement at the lot adjacent to the facility. Overall, a great experience and I will visit again when in the area. read more

Awesome place to hang out in downtown Golden. It's right on the Clear Creek Canyon Trail. We walked the trail then hit the Mill for some beers and a snack. You check in at the host stand and open a tab with your credit card. They give you a Card that you use at all the self serve taps and at the food vendors. They have 50+ taps serving craft beer & cocktails and wine. They have water and Coke as well. They have 4 food vendors: Mexican, BBQ, chicken and ice cream. Very fun, dogs welcome. read more

This place is huge! With so many people there, I am surprised we found parking no problem, got checked in right away, and there were no lines (except for the bathroom). We found a spot to sit and eat, and our food arrived really quickly! It was also delicious! They came up with a pretty good system there. The mulled red wine and tacos were soooo greasy I got really sick afterward! Next time, I will try something else. Cool place! Definitely try it! read more

This was the perfect first stop on our Golden weekend! SEATING There is TONS of seating and we had no problem finding a great spot with an amazing view for the 6 of us. There's tons of variety in seating options: tall tables, comfy lounges around firepits, etc. We opted for bar-style seating along the stream. FOOD We were a group of six, and everyone was able to find something they liked here. I got a birria burrito bowl - as did another in our group, three got the BBQ, and one got the sushi. Quality was great and awesome to have variety! My burrito bowl was reasonably priced: the only higher-than-expected pricing was the sushi: two (nicer) rolls for $40. All are counter service, and you pick up when you get the text that it's ready. They have a drink/tap wall as well for serve yourself drinks! read more

Awesome self service atmosphere here! Grabbed lunch and a beer while visiting friends in Golden. I would love to come here in the summer to enjoy that outdoor patio and rooftop! After getting a card, you can go to the tap and select any beer you want and serve yourself. The card keeps track of your tab. There's also a couple different spots to get food. I decided on the Baja bowl with birria pork. Delicious. And cool view of the mountains and coors factory as well! read more

I was recommended the golden mill by many people when visiting golden and had to give a try! On first glance, it is located right along the river that goes through the town, which is an amazing view. Once inside there is a first floor that has a few different food options as well as the pour your own beer options as well. In order to partake in the beer option, you need to get a card that you can tap to the machine and you pay per the ounce. They have other drinks beside beer on tap as well such as different types of cocktails. They have a great food selection. That includes many different varieties of food throughout the venue as well. The top floor also has a few additional beer options as well as food options. I decided to go with a barbecue option which I got a brisket sandwich which was really good as well as a side of fries and some of the barbecue sauce. I also got a beer on top from one of the local breweries. It was a chilly day out, but I still wanted to sit on the patio on the top deck, so we sat by a fireplace. They have a ton of different fireplaces, all throughout the top deck as well as the lower deck as well so sitting outside was an option for the time of the year that I was there which was March. Maybe in the dead of the winter they don't have this option but just keep that in mind. Anyways, I thought the view of the course brewery factory right across the way was really cool to see as well. The food was really good and I love getting beer by the ounce because if you don't like the beer, you can just get a different one and you don't have to make a whole glass pour every time you get one. I definitely would recommend the golden mill. It definitely seems like a place that a lot of locals hang out and there is a food or beverage option for everyone so even picky eaters would love this place. Indoor/outdoor establishment with several options to eat, along with even more variety in adult beverages. Check in at the counter to get your "experience card". This card accounts for all your food and drinks. At the end of your stay, you turn card in for one total bill. Beware, adult beverages (all beverages) are charged by the ounce. The machine does tell you the price per ounce and when finished fill your glass, you do get a total -- however, if not paying attention, you can get carried away. read more

Crazy mix..lets break it down. Pros: 1. Great quacamole, cornbread, and the chicken wedge was solid. 2. Like the quantity of offerings for the beer on tab. 3. Beautiful location. Cons: 1. Parking was crazy. 2. The place is serve yourself but they force an 18% gratuity on your bill. 3. The BBQ is served cold .. sausage and brisket. Little smoke taste. Weird! 4. The Golden Mill offers an innovative take on the modern brewery and food hall concept. Upon arrival, you're issued a payment card linked to your credit card, which you use throughout the venue for a largely self-service experience - from ordering at various food stalls to pouring your own beer and cider from their tap wall or grabbing soft drinks. We tried the BBQ and were thoroughly impressed - generous portions packed with flavor that made the experience worthwhile. The self-service model works smoothly once you get the hang of it. One minor disappointment was the limited non-alcoholic beverage options beyond soda and water - having some specialty mocktails or craft sodas would enhance the experience for non-drinkers. The location is stunning, situated right on the river with gorgeous natural scenery that creates a relaxing atmosphere. The setting perfectly balances the modern industrial vibe with Colorado's natural beauty. This spot works great for both tourists looking for a unique Golden experience and locals seeking a casual community gathering place. An amazing food hall with self-serving beverages serving beers, seltzer and wine. The staff is amazing and easy to set up your self pouring account. Two stories and tons of options to choose from. Beautiful patios on the bottom and rooftop with excellent views of the river and mountains sides. Rooftop is perfect for sun bathing and taking in the mountain air. They have tons of food options and lovely dog toys / clothing options to celebrate all day in. read more

Such a fun experience. We went Saturday with our two young kids about 11:30am. It got busy fast but food only took 6 minutes to come out and was delicious. There's 4 different meal spots + ice cream shop. The tap wall is really cool and doesn't just include beer. It was a big place with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Will definitely be back. read more

Fun place to go with friends for a night out! Kind of what I'd expect an adult cafeteria or food court to be like - a wall of different beers and cocktails to choose from and various food options. Right when you walk inside, you register at the front desk. You give them your credit card, and they attach it to a Golden Mill card that you'll use to pay for everything inside. At the end, you drop your card in a little box on the wall by the exit, and they will automatically close you out and add on a 20% gratuity. Their beer wall is great for people looking for variety and those who are a bit more indecisive. Put your card in the scanner, and you can serve yourself as much or as little as you want. Want a taster? Buy an ounce. Only want half a glass? Done. Great if you want to try multiple drinks, or if you're just in the mood for a bit. They even had a couple good ciders, which is always a pleasant surprise. Lots of food options - Japanese, Mexican, BBQ, classic American. We tried their BBQ, and gotta say, I was a bit disappointed. Got the 2 meats plate with burnt ends and pulled pork. The burnt ends weren't nearly as flavorful or as soft as I'm used to. Their brisket chili was good, but the mac and cheese was a bit bland. Missed the mark a bit. But their ice cream. I love New Zealand style ice cream, and while it's not commonly found, they 100% have it here. So smooth, creamy, and delicious. The perfect treat to end the night with. They have both downstairs and upstairs seating. If you have the option, grab a seat upstairs overlooking the river. Beautiful and relaxing. Overall, the food left a bit to be desired for me, but the drinks and experience were enjoyable. Good choice to go for drinks with friends. read more
Super fun place to get your drink on. Located in beautiful Golden, CO, mere steps from the Coors factory. I'm a beer snob so I rarely drink Coors and The Golden Mill is beer heaven. Hand them a credit card as you walk in and they give you an access card to all of the taps on their tap wall. Forget that you are paying by the ounce and focus on the fact that you are now the bartender and can pour whatever you want, and drink as much as you want. Fun idea and a great place to try different beers, sours, ciders, wines, cocktails without buying the whole drink. Pour an ounce here, try a half glass there..... yummmm! Great food options, too. Use the same access card and they add it to the bill... same as the beverage pours. Fun idea. I had a delicious bowl of mac n cheese with brisket tips. My wife loved the bbq ribs. Fun indoor, patio and upper deck sitting decks. We had a great time. read more

Often when I watch videos on social media of what to do in Golden they recommend stopping at the Golden Mill, so I figured we go check it out! It's a great place to come with groups. There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and has two floors. It has a mini food hall feel since here are multiple different areas for food options. On the bottom floor there is Mexican, American food, and ice cream. On the top floor there is a Japanese restaurant. Both floors have taps of beers, though the first floor has much more options including cocktails and wine. I got the loaded fries and a wedge salad. Both were good! Might as well just try to look for parking on the street if available the parking for the Golden Mill is a few blocks away from the establishment. They've got lots of merch for sale on the first floor. The reason that I did not rate them higher is because their prices are high compared to if you were eating at another establishment. On top of that they have a 18% gratuity charge when everything is self-serve. I guess they are hoping people don't notice? Just seems pretty greedy. I would rather just check out the other restaurants in Golden before coming back here again. read more

Needed a quick place to stop by, grab a drink, and some food so our friend recommended us here. Right by Clear Creek River, so we took advantage of that fact and sat on the second floor for amazing views overlooking the river. Golden Mill is a food hall that requires you to get one of their Golden Mill cards to purchase food and drink. They had everything from sushi to mexican to BBQ to ice cream. The BBQ was good - I really liked the Burnt Ends. And there were a wide variety of drink options. I wasn't a fan of most of the drink options, but that is just me. However, I did fall in love with their Paloma cocktail. Definitely would be the place to go to with friends to enjoy the nice outdoors with good food and good brews. read more
This place is very cool. Definitely worth swinging by and checking out. We stopped in after going to the lounge at Coors and this was by far the better choice. Mediocre beer selection, but definitely enough that everyone has a little of something to choose from. Three different restaurants or styles of food to get Makes everyone happy. Poor as you go they automatically charge an 18 fortuity which was fine because the atmosphere made up for the automatic tipping. read more

I visited the Golden mill yesterday with my kids for the first time. It's got a super cool vibe and is clearly a great place to hang out. They also have lots of different food options and beer and I'd love to go in for a beer as soon as I am no longer breastfeeding 24/7. I took my son to happy cones which we had been to their location in Edgewater before and they have great ice cream. I was shocked that a single scoop of chocolate ice cream with no toppings and a cake cone was almost $7.50. Yikes I have been planning to get ice cream too, but at that price point I skipped. read more

Yes there is seating for 6 but I'm not sure if you can make reservations, its first come first serve
Can place place accommodate a private party of about 50?
I didn't notice any private spaces when I visited. Maybe contact Sushi Sora directly, as they have the upstairs spot and you might be able to rent something at their rooftop bar.
