The Reuben and Hippie Burger were both satisfying, service was friendly and efficient, and portions were generous without being excessive. The onion rings were the only disappointment. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon during the Boulder Marathon, and the restaurant was slammed. Even so, we were seated after only about 15 minutes on the waitlist. We ordered The Reuben with onion rings, the Hippie Burger, and their take on an espresso martini. The Hippie Burger was an especially good bite--the slight heat from the jalapeño paired perfectly with the rich egg. The Reuben was also very good, with nicely fried bread and a well-seasoned corn hash. Nothing felt overly greasy, and the portion sizes were just right for a filling lunch. There was a mix-up with my side, and fries arrived instead of onion rings. Our server, Kailen, quickly had a fresh order made. Unfortunately, the onion rings themselves were disappointing--too heavily battered with not enough onion. Kailen was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout the meal. Overall, a very good brunch experience. I'd happily come back to try more of the menu and would recommend Foolish Craig's to others visiting Boulder.

When we got to the restaurant, I told them the name the waitlist was under and it took about 10 minutes to be seated. We ordered multiple plates of food, I had the Foolish Huevos and my friends ordered Challah French Toast with Two Eggs and Potatoes and the Belgian waffle with Two Eggs and Potatoes. We got there at about 12:50pm and they close at 2pm. When we got there, there wasn't much of a wait outside and multiple tables both inside and outside were open. My friend went to use the restroom about 10 minutes after we arrived and they brought out the food during the time he was gone. We waited for him to eat, within the time he was gone, our serve came up to us a couple times and asked how the food looks, we said great thanks and that we were waiting for our friend. He came back and we began eating. As we started eating, about five minutes later, the server came back and asked if we were ready to pack up. We were kinda shocked because they had no one waiting and were far from closing but we just said no thank you and we were still eating. A few minutes later she came back and asked my friends girlfriend if she was done with her plate, keep in mind that her plate is still full of food and her fork is literally in a piece of the waffle and she's chewing. She couldn't respond and put her hand out because the server started pulling the food away. My friend spoke for her and said "wait she's still eating". She apologized and said she must have misunderstood. We all kinda laughed about it after but got a little annoyed just because she kept coming every few minutes to check if we were ready to leave and we didn't know why we were being rushed so much. And there were plenty of open seats inside and they are still open for almost an hour. We continued eating and as I was talking, my friend was looking at me and then said to our table that the server was staring at us which was kinda weird but he's like "It's okay, just keep talking" I proceeded and then he said "oh she's now coming over again" and I was really hoping she wasn't. She came up again and asked if we were ready and my friend didn't even respond, he just looked up at her and looked annoyed because by this point I mean it was kinda ridiculous. We had been polite every single time and it almost felt like someone was playing a prank. She apologized and said it appeared he was staring at her. That was the funny part, she was staring at us but even if he did look over, none of which is a indication we are ready to leave, I could see raising your hand or making the classic check symbol as calling someone over. Although if someone is just looking around the restaurant because they do have art everywhere too, that shouldn't mean they want another check in but even with all that context, that wasn't the case. At the end of the brunch, she provided the check for him and it was weird because usually when you give the check you give them some space to give the tip but she leaned over my side of the table and stared at what tip he was leaving her. The whole experience was kinda weird on the service bit. The actual taste of the food was decent. However, the portion sizes were really disappointing because they focused more on presentation rather than anything else. The Belgian waffle wasn't even a full Belgian waffle, it was literally half of one covered with a few pieces of fruit and that sucks because a restaurant knows what it's doing when they present it like that instead of just giving you the actual thing you ordered which would be a complete Belgian waffle. On top of that, they offer fresh fruit which is very little fruit and Nutella which sound like they come with the waffle and French toast and then are separate charges that aren't mentioned until the end. Honestly, it's just annoying that a place wouldn't just tell you that or say something like, "Would you like to add fruit with that? It'll be $1 extra if that's okay with you?" And we would have said no because we didn't want extra fees but I know that's how they get you, which lacks transparency and genuineness. Despite that, I'd also like to mention that on the menu it says with choice of fruit for the waffle and choice of Nutella for the French toast. And one friend got fruit and the other got Nutella so it's not like they got multiple, they did choose one. Now based on the wording, it doesn't sound like an extra cost to me especially since there isn't any fee shown on the menu where it says that. I've honestly never seen that and that's kinda ridiculous because that means they don't write it, they don't say it but they do charge it. That literally doesn't make any sense. And inside the restaurant atmosphere, it was a bit annoying to have so many flies inside unfortunately. Hopefully my friends still trust my restaurant recommendations
