My husband got the mighty mushroom burger with shoestring fries and loved it. I got the mighty three chile burger and let me tell you....... top 5 burger I've ever had in my life. It was so flavorful and the right amount of salt and butter and the bun was toasted to perfection. I'll be dreaming of that burger forever. I paired it with the sweet potato fries and spicy ranch and I'm going to get that combo everytime I come here now. Don't walk, RUNNNNNNN to get this burger.

I mean a post-hike burger loaded with bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, and cheddar cheese - what could possibly be better. Nothing, absolutely nothing. ++ There's a variety of ways to further customize your meal, whether it be adding toppings, sauces, or swapping out the grass-fed beef patty for a chicken or veggie patty. ++ Did I mention they offer up some additional specials to add a little something different from time to time? Love that! ++ They needed to whip up more of their chipotle mayo, so I was already planning on foregoing sampling it with my meal when the server brought out a cup for us. YUM! It was just what my sweet potato fries needed. -- The only drawback we experienced was brief uncertainty over whether they were actually going to be open during our visit. Sounds like the hours may fluctuate a bit from day to day. Not what our grumbling bellies were wanting to hear. So glad that ended up not being the case. The Mighty Burger definitely checked my burger-craving boxes. I'll gladly make my way back when in Boulder.

I mean there's a huge box of fries outside. Well today I wasn't prepared for what we experienced. The place was filled with shot glasses. Cool looking place what's seems to be in the middle of nowhere. This dude greets us introducing himself as "Roy" the owner. He welcomes us and literally gives us the behind the scenes tour of the kitchen and the freezer. What can I say, when you get an unscheduled tour on a Sunday morning and the kitchen and surrounding areas are clean and organized that's a good place. This guy and his wife Barbra run it. He's super cool and self admitted a bit crude but fun nonetheless. He told us we could order anything even if it wasn't on the menu. Sunday everything on the special menu is $10. Next week he's doing a fried chicken buffet for FREE. He says once he didn't have anything and just like doing it for people. He's 72 full of life and maybe a little full of crap but totally fun and friendly. Good food, good service and a fun place on the "peak to peak highway" just outside Blackhawk. This place will be an experience.

Pros: We were asked if my dog is a service dog. I said yes and she smiled and told us to sit anywhere. The buffet is small, but I got enough of a sampling and found some chicken dishes that I enjoyed. I wanted to expand my palate a bit more so I ordered, off the menu, chicken korma. It sounded good and I'm hoping I'm right. I tried a bite of my husband's samosa and it was good, though I didn't really taste the potato filling. The staff is great, a nice and comfortable place to go. I did find my favorite food and it's the chicken korma. I want to try the shrimp version next time. I also tried chai tea for the first time. Tasted more like cinnamon milk. Not something I'd get again. Glad I went here and expanded my taste palate. Cons: The buffet rice was hard and chewy. But to be fair we got there near the end of the lunch buffet. And the rice had obviously been sitting for a few hours. Recommended? Yes. Great staff and good food. Especially for beginners like me, get there early for the buffet and you'll find something to like.

We love all of the different seating options; great bar, comfortable lounge area, chef's counter, cute patio and nice dining room. The food is always so good. I've also read that their lots are full, locals recommend parking along High Drive, just past the county road sign and then walking 2-3 min to the restaurant. Enjoy!

The parking lot is fairly small, but there is additional parking available across the street the grocery store (not sure if you can park there but it worked for us). The menu looked solid, with a few things that caught my eye (albeit on the pricier side for a more casual spot). I ended up ordering the Colorado trout filet, and it was definitely the highlight for me. The trout was cooked well, very flavorful, and topped with a cilantro-lime sauce that paired well with it. It came with roasted corn and potatoes, which were both tasty, although I do wish there had been a little more of each. My fiancée ordered the beets and Bibb salad and added chicken. Unfortunately, the chicken was probably the weakest part of the meal. It was fairly dry and didn't have much flavor. Overall, though, we had a good experience at Bird & Jim. The trout was exactly what I was looking for: light, healthy, & flavorful. There are quite a few other things on the menu I'd like to try, so we'd open to returning next time we are in the area.

The food: It doesn't seem like a lot at first, but what you get is actually plenty of food for the price. We filled up with just a basic plate of omelet and pancakes and some coffee. I will say that the pancakes are pretty dense, they could definitely use some fluffing, but everything has good flavor, including the coffee! After one of my go-to nearby restaurants closed down, I decided to venture here for a burger. This place rocks! Boss Burgers and Gyros reminds me of a classic dive that we all know and love. Nothing fancy, no frills, no fuss, no pretentiousness, just tasty food at an affordable price. You order at the counter and the cashier gives you a table number. Plenty of outdoor seating with some indoor seating as well. This place gets pretty busy, but the staff hustles. Kitchen is cranking out relatively quick ticket times so you don't have to wait that long at all. For a cheeseburger with bacon and jalapeños and an order of cheese fries, this was $14 and change. And I added the bacon and jalapeños to the burger! In Denver, this would be $25, haha. The cheese fries (small) were really enough for two people. So you get your money's worth after a day exhausting yourself at RMNP. Burger was great. I added some mustard to mine at the table. It comes with LTO, ketchup, and mayo. This tastes like what you want at a backyard BBQ. Served on a red plastic tray with paper lining, this mom and pop place dishes humble food without breaking the bank. Bacon was crispy, cheese was melty, I had no complaints! Only knock on the cheese fries were that they desperately needed salt. It's not the best burger place of all time, but it doesn't need to be. These are the types of places I love supporting. Will return and maybe try an elk dog next time!
