However, once you find this place, you'll find the outside is nice and quaint, like going to Grandma's house for breakfast. The interior is small but nice, and decorated all over with little nicknacks. Everything is clean, including the bathroom. The people inside are all small town nice chatty folk, customers and staff alike. Don't let the older waitress scare ya, she looks mean, but she's actually very nice. The food: It doesn't seem like a lot at first, but what you get is actually plenty of food for the price. We filled up with just a basic plate of omelet and pancakes and some coffee. I will say that the pancakes are pretty dense, they could definitely use some fluffing, but everything has good flavor, including the coffee! I would definitely go back if I were back in the area for another hike.

You truly feel like you've walked into a friendly neighbor's home and they've decided to cook for you....next to a fire...at their dining table. It's so cozy. I've just had breakfast here so far. It's fresh and home cooked tasting. My sister and other family members rave about the huevos rancheros. We also always rave about their coffee...they add a touch of cinnamon to it. It's so good and just something different to enjoy. Our service this time could have been a bit better...perhaps our server was new, as my sister said she doesn't typically have that experience. If you find yourself coming through or near Allenspark, don't miss this true one of a kind experience.

We came here for brunch before heading to the hot springs and it was a great stop…read more I got the Main Street Benedict, super yummy! The only thing I didn't like as much was the hashbrowns, they were just okay. I also ordered the jalapeño bread French toast (recommended by our server). I love jalapeño flavor, but I remember thinking it sounded kind of weird for French toast... but I'm glad I tried it because it was so good. They make their breads in-house and I would definitely get that again. I also tried some of my friend's banana bread and that was really delicious too. Didn't get a chance to try these since we had to get to the hot springs soon so thought it's too much food to finish in time, but they had a French toast flight and a Benedict flight, which I've never seen before. Pretty cool, I love anything where you can try multiple flavors. Overall, would reccomend this brunch spot in Idaho Springs. Would come back!

She was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I ordered the Reuben (currently $18.50) with a cup of their green chili soup ($6.00). The Reuben was outstanding--perfectly grilled with a crispy rye, flavorful corned beef, and just the right balance of Swiss, sauerkraut, and dressing. The green chili soup was rich, comforting, and packed with great Colorado flavor. My wife built her own burger and upgraded to the house salad instead of fries. Everything was fresh, cooked exactly as ordered, and delicious. This has become one of our must-stop restaurants whenever we're headed to Vail. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere every time. Highly recommended--we'll definitely be back!

Stopped by on the way back from Rocky Mountain National Park and it is a must visit!…read more So far, all the lattes I've tried (honey bear, cherry blossom, cherry cordial) have been great. I'm usually picky about any cherry flavored bc a lot of cherry flavored products tastes too artificial. But here it's an exception! Pork Green Chili Pocket $7.5 was also delicious. Not spicy. The pork inside is chunck but tender and has a great bite to it. I would get it again. I'm planning to try their pot pies next visit! They have it available hot and ready for frozen bake at home.

We picked up a bottle of cherry wine, some cherry popcorn, and cherry honey as gifts for a family member who loves anything cherry. It was really neat to see just how many different cherry products they offer--you can tell they've gotten creative with it! The shop itself is cute, well-stocked, and opens early, which made it an easy stop during our day. They also have pet-friendly outdoor seating, which is always a bonus for us. I had a question about one of the wines, and while the younger employee helping me wasn't sure of the answer, he immediately went to ask someone else who was able to help. I always appreciate when staff take the time to find the right information instead of guessing. Plenty of parking as well! Overall, it's a charming local shop with unique products and friendly service. We'll definitely stop back next time--hopefully for a slice of cherry pie!

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful right from the start--especially when my wife was deciding what to order. They even suggested the option of getting a half burrito for half the price, which was a great tip and much appreciated. She went with the Mama's Burrito (with bacon), and I had the Christy Breakfast Burrito. We both had ours smothered in the green chile (pork) sauce--highly recommend. Both were excellent. The chorizo in the Christy was especially well done--full of flavor without being greasy. My wife loved hers, and the half portion ended up being perfect. We also had coconut lattes, which were smooth and really well balanced. Even though you order at the counter, the staff checked in on us several times, which added a nice personal touch. The space is bright and welcoming with lots of natural light. It's in a strip mall, but being on the end gives it a more open feel. The Southwest, slightly kitschy décor fits the vibe well. We noticed a steady stream of regulars and to-go orders, which says a lot. Places don't stay busy--or around this long--without doing things right. If you're anywhere near Granby, this place is absolutely worth a stop.

If you're history buff, I encourage you to read about the history of each of the train cars on their website. Though the business has only been around for a few years, one of the cars was built in 1906, and all of them have a unique story to their name. As far as the shop is concerned, it's a standard cafe with coffee, tea, and breakfast food options. With the addition of kava if that's your jam. The best part of this place is checking out the various train cars, all different with various types of seating options. We ordered coffees, sandwiches, and their self-proclaimed "world famous" mini donuts. The sandwiches came out piping hot. I was actually impressed with the bacon egg and cheese. Generous serving of egg, especially. Much better than the bagel spot around the corner! The donuts were good, but you really need to eat them right away while they're hot. Nice addition of the maple bacon, and solid portion to split between a few people. Considering a few places I enjoyed going to in Nederland have changed concepts, I definitely prefer coming to Train Cars Coffee and Kava. Looking forward to trying them again and seeing more of what they offer!
