Stumbled upon this gem while just driving through. Great food, great vibe and then grabbed sandwiches on the way out to take on a hike.

A good place for coffee and/or breakfast. We came here on a morning trip into Estes Park. John Shepherd was playing guitar while the rest of us were slowly sipping on our coffee and inviting the day. Service is down to earth and pleasant. I'm glad the girls behind the counter were not all in my face about ordering quick. haha. I'll have to return next time and show up far earlier. They run out of items quick. I made that note in my head after I saw a lot of items crossed off the menu. My latte came out standard. Gave me enough pep to continue on our journey to Estes Park for the day. Definitely leaving this place on the radar for next time. Outdoor and indoor seating are great options. This review is more for the establishment and vibes as we didn't get to try their pastries. We just stopped by for coffee and it was forgettable. I got an iced americano with honey syrup and it was weak, so weak, so sad. Awesome patio there and even some tables in the parking lot. I was surprised to hear some live music on a Saturday morning, can we normalize that please?? Now that I know where this is, I will be stopping by for some carbs next time I'm in Lyons! read more

Wow what an amazing place and view! This adorable coffee shop had it all. Friendly Baristas, excellent coffee, the best cinnamon roll I've ever tasted in my life! In my 30+ year of trying bakeries and sour doughs and croissants I have to say this place is outstanding. Lyons itself is very relaxed, mountain town vibes. If you are familiar with California it's very Topanga Canyon, if you are familiar with Mexico it's very Tulum vibes. It's a beauty welcoming earthy bakery as a bakery should be. I love the ambiance of this place. Rustics decor, local bands playing in the corner, lots of locals hanging out there. The service is quick and friendly. They have a wide variety of drinks and breads. I really enjoyed my muffin, but my daughter found her croissant too hard. My family liked their coffee. I tried a lavender sage tea that was a little too heavy on the herbs and I didn't care for it; might be my own personal taste. I would definitely come back here to try other things. read more

Let me say right away that this review is specifically for Moxie's Dark Rye Bread, NOT Moxie Bread Company in general, which I truly like very much-- lovely people, wonderful space, and the majority of baked goods are quite fine. The Dark Rye loaf itself is particularly small-ish whose straight sidewall measured exactly 2-5/8" tall, yet the heft of the loaf in its entirety can not be believed! When handed to me at checkout, my hand fell to the counter. It is as if the bakers have placed a black hole in the mix of each loaf, the weight of a thousand loaves in each one. Simply put and all joking aside, this is bar-none the heaviest bread per sq. in. I have ever had. The crust is not just hard, it was so impenetrable with our bread knife, I had to use a frighteningly sharp steak knife (with teeth a great white shark would be jealous of) to hack through the body. Before purchasing this Dark Rye Bread, I had no misconception that Moxie's Dark Rye is not a classic European-style rye bread, even though the description on the wall stated as much. Filled with pepitas & sunflowers, this hippie-dippie version harks back fondly to my days growing up in Woodstock, NY. If you're looking for a Jewish Rye with bountiful pops of carraway, or any other style of traditional rye bread found in the best bakeries, you'll have to look elsewhere. Without that wonderful combination of a distinctive hard crust and a supple elastic inner texture, this bohemian rustic rye seemingly from days of antiquity is a different animal altogether. I will say that If you're skilled enough to slice a thin piece that can fit in your toaster, you will be rewarded with a super tasty treat when slathered with butter. I just wish the overall experience was worth the pricey mini-loaf. One final disclosure, my partner thought that this particular loaf was possibly burnt. I agree it may have been slightly over done, but not by much past the intent, which is why I have included a color & exposure-corrected photo (~2/3 of the loaf length shown) for everyone to make their own judgement. read more

I was in today 8/19/25 and while waiting in line a guy that knew the barista came in behind me and they started talking. She offered to take his order before mine and made it ahead of me. I felt this was so rude and went against everything the founders of the cafe were all about. Will I go back? Yes. will I ever tip again? Not it a chance. Lyons, CO. This updated review is to hopefully catch the owners attention to a detail that can reflect on his business as a whole, if he cares. Ok it is festival time and everyone is hustling and doing a very good job keeping our line moving. On Friday morning our lattes were perfect. Rich and bold with the espresso bean flavors jumping forward. Just wonderful. On Saturday morning our latte cups (We bring our own cups) sat on top of the machine for quite awhile before being attended to. Our resultant lattes were weak and cold, tasted like a dim coffee flavored milk. On Sunday morning our cups again had the scenic view from the top of the machine. I witnessed the espresso shots being poured but then they were poured out and once again rested atop the machine. On this day our lattes were hot, but again weak. They tasted like hot milk with a hint of coffee. On Monday morning we thought we could avoid the milky beverage by ordering an extra shot of espresso in each, a total of three shots. This was clearly repeated back to us by the cashier. What we got was weak lukewarm milk. They did not give us the extra shot even though we paid extra. I sincerely regretted giving these people a tip. One star for this experience, plus one for the great Friday morning latte (When I saw the owner there) , and also the wonderful premade turkey pesto sandwiches. read more

This place had affordable pricing. They have fresh baked goods. They do have a nice cafe type seating area and an outdoor area, too. You order at the register and they give the food to you. If you want something quick to eat and are running low on time, this is the spot to go to. Got the Jerusalem bagel here, and it hit the spot. They give you a choice between butter and cream cheese. Had it without either of those. The butter pecan toffee cookie was fresh and good. They serve a variety of nonalcoholic drinks here, too. read more

I recently visited the Lyons location to purchase GF bread which had many raves. I was introduced to Moxies by my neighbor who has been getting GF bread for me from the farmers market. The selection of bread was outstanding as was the service of the staff. I purchased 2 loaves (tho I was concerned that nothing was dated with expira. date.) I also purchased prewrapped brownies, which were at the register. VERY DISAPPOINTING! When I tried to cut into it, it broke into many pieces and crumbled. Had to eat it with spoon. very disappointing experience, based on quality of brownie. Now I wonder about the freshness of the bread. This was my first visit to Moxies and dont think I'll return. What a welcoming and warm spot to stop for breakfast or lunch. They have bread loaves you can purchase, baked goods (hot from their bakery!), wide section of coffee and sandwiches. This is cute spot to get coffee and a pastry in Lyons. Definitely hippie vibes! There are candles, incense, crystals and other things for sale. I ordered an almond milk pumpkin spice latte, and it seemed to have been made with real pumpkin. There is ample seating inside. In addition to coffee and tea, this place sells beer and wine. They also have kombucha on tap. There are loaves of bread, and yummy pastries as well. I didn't get a pastry, this time but they looked great! I didn't see any gluten-free pastries when I was there. I've loved the Moxie in Louisville for years, and this location is a bit different but equally excellent! Good sandwiches and take & bake dinners ready in the fridge, amazing breads & pastries, and great coffee beverages, all in a place with a cool vibe. This place is not what you'd expect in a small mountain town and it should be on your coffee destination tour because it's that good!! And timing is everything. I walked in on a Saturday morning to a mostly empty pastry case and pondering if I'd slept too late, readying myself to choose one of the remaining cookies. And then, as if divine intervention, the pastries arrive. Trays of almond croissants, cinnamon and pecans rolls, these savory square- everything called my name. Gorgeous little cafe tucked into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Absolutely delightful place to come visit and enjoy the beautiful mountains all around. Had the Miele latte (honey, cinnamon, and orange blossom) and a pecan cinnamon roll (with amazing orange notes to it!). Both were delicious and honestly, the cinnamon was almost too pretty to eat. Obvi I did though and it was one of the best I've ever had (perfect blend of soft but still had a little crunch on the outside - highly recommend). The folks working were kind and efficient. Love they have wifi too. Definitely would recommend people stop by here and enjoy the food, bevs, and beautiful scenery. read more

This is my first time visiting Colorado and my friend showed me this place. There is a great selection of food and drink, which I was pleasantly surprised! I got the King Egg based on a recommendation. It was definitely delicious, but I wasn't fully aware of what was in it. It had egg, mushrooms and yellow squash. The menu only said that it had egg and veggies. So the veggie part was a bit of a mystery. (It was also difficult to see the description on the menu so I really didn't have any idea what was in it at first). My only negative would be that there is no clear indication anywhere of what veggies were going to be in it. I'm not allergic to mushrooms but I don't really have a liking to them so being caught off guard isn't the best. My recommendation is that if the veggies are like a seasonal thing, there should be a sign somewhere stating what veggies are in the King Egg at that time. I also got a lemonade with lavender syrup and it was SO GOOD! The lemonade was not too tart but not too sweet and the lavender was just perfect! Would absolutely get that again. The overall vibe of this place is great. I really did enjoy it and will likely be back next time I'm in Colorado. read more

On a road trip and found this little gem of a coffee shop. Excellent espresso drinks (the batista said they source their beans out of Eagle, CO) and yummy baked goods. They also have some grab & go salads and sandwiches and an assortment of cold single serve beverages. I really liked the vibe of this place. They moved locations to just off Main Street and now called moxie bread co. But let me tell you how good this pastry was. Sat outside in the sun eating this on a Sunday morning gave me the perfect spring vibes. Would definitely go back when I am next in Lyons. Highly recommend for breakfast when in the area. read more

This review is for Main St. Lyons CO!!! I almost drove back to Boulder, hahah but a friend set me straight! Ok...pastries. These are some of the best I've had. Ever. I've been to France, Italy, and Switzerland. I live in a town of Italian immigrants...with lots of bakeries. This place blew me away. Streamlined, nature inspired decor, deconstructed outdoor hang space under the trees. Mystic peek-a boo views of the surrounding mountains. Set back enough from the road that it's kinda fun to watch the Main Street traffic. Also!! fantastic cappuccino (authentic espresso to milk ratio) and Latte (more my speed in terms of caffeine intake). Bread looked great, but I couldn't really try any. Seemed like a good, mellow spot to do work or write (which I did on a different day), or have a quiet (relatively) conversation with friends (which I also had). Glad a friend showed me where it was at...because it's maybe easy to not quite understand this semi-industrial looking building / old bike shop building is now housing A Coffee/Bakery/a mercantile w/ some of the best pastry (and maybe coffee) in all of Colorado for sure. Maybe in The West. If you're on the way to RMNP / Estes. Adorable community-focused bakery that uses local high quality grains. The croissant was the best I've ever tasted! They use compostable cups and utensils and also have a compost bin (notably absent from many shops). I got a "moxie mist" which was similar to a London fog and enjoyed it. There was an assortment of local goods for sale and I really liked the floral crackers. Overall a fantastic spot that I will be returning to every time I go to Rocky Mountain National Park! read more
