Love getting assaulted? This is the place for you... As a long-standing patron of this restaurant, I never imagined I'd have to endure such a shocking and unsettling experience. I am a regular customer for over a decade, but regardless, my boyfriend and I were subjected to appalling treatment during our recent visit. After patiently waiting for 40 minutes for our order, he approached the window to inquire about the delay. Instead of receiving a simple explanation, he was met with hostility as the general manager aggressively slammed the window shut in his face. Undeterred, we waited a few more minutes until our order finally arrived (yes, they had gotten it wrong, but that would not have warranted this review). What did, however, was our attempt to request some ranch dressing, a simple condiment which led to a jaw-dropping confrontation. The general manager, rather than addressing our request professionally, launched into a tirade. Apparently their policy is to charge $1 for each cup, which is fine, and if given the opportunity I would have just paid it. Maybe I should I have bitten my tongue, but when she let me know this I asked, "really, after I paid $35 and waited 45 minutes?" There were a number of back and forths from there where our honest reactions to what was unfolding were met with such unprofessional responses. Here's an example: My boyfriend: "Wow, you are being very rude. I don't think we will be able to come back to this restaurant." Her: "Good, I hope you never fucking come back." My boyfriend: "That's a horrible thing to say." Her: "You treat me like shit and I'll treat you the same." Still in a state of shock, we sat down to try and enjoy our food. But that wasn't the last of her attacks as she hurled ranch at us in a fit of rage. One cup struck my boyfriend, bouncing off his chest and leg before hitting the ground, and the other landed directly in his food. The disbelief of being assaulted by someone in a position of authority (apparently who is "the god damn general manager") left us both stunned. Since I have been going here since I was a kid, I genuinely wanted to provide feedback on this egregious behavior. Even when attempting to de-escalate the situation and seek out the owner's contact information from a different employee for further discussion, we were met with resistance and further aggression. It was clear that the manager had no intention of listening to our concerns or taking responsibility for her actions. I felt increasingly unsafe as the manager continued to berate us in front of other customers. This incident not only marred our perception of the restaurant but also left us deeply shaken. No customer should ever have to fear for their safety or endure such blatant disrespect while simply trying to enjoy a meal. Until there is tangible evidence of accountability and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all customers, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone. If anyone at the Lyon PD would like to investigate this incident of assault, I would be happy to cooperate. There are video cameras that should have captured this entire interaction. read more

Only downside to this place is that there is no restroom. Ice cream is amazing. I've had a lot of handmade ice cream, I love stopping at these types of places. I have to say that this is one of the best. The rocky road was chocolatey and had whole crunchy peanuts in it. It was not too sweet and was also the perfect consistency. Not melty or too frozen. My friend also got the peanut butter flavor and I tried some and it was so rich and peanut buttery and delicious. Definitely stop by for some ice cream even if it's a bit pricey. read more

Lyon's Dairy Bar used to be a local gem. The food was always too expensive for the quality, but it tasted great. The new owners have changed the food and it is horrible! Although the names on the menu and descriptions make it seem like it's the same food, it's not. Their hamburgers used to be delicious but not any more. The meat has changed and the whole flavor is off. We ordered a Hippie Chick tonight expecting the same old shaved chicken and cheese that it's been since at least 2010. What we got instead was the most disgusting mayo filled piece of garbage that I've been served in ages. It was mostly mayo (yuck!), two slices of overcooked chicken (not even a full chicken breast) and some brown avocado slices. if you're the new owners and happen to read this, please change back to the original food. People in town are talking about how bad your food has become. If you want business in the slow months, do yourselves (and us) a favor and go back to what the food was before you bought the place. The ice cream we had was amazing! We had the key lime in a waffle cone, and a scoop of root beer and scoop of chocolate in a cup. Both were enjoyed. We saw a sign that said "food order takes a minimum of 20 minutes" which I thought was kinda odd but we didn't get food, just ice cream. There wasn't a bathroom to wash our hands. Ick. Service wasn't the most friendly. The staff seemed a little out of it. And the above order, two doubles: one in a cup and one in a cone? Cost 16.85. Whaaaaat? Those are the reasons for the 4 stars. Went here a few months ago, it was really good. Came back today and they changed the hot dogs but still advertising them as Vienna beef Chicago dogs but selling regular (and soggy messy) hot dogs. I asked the lady in there and said they gave me the wrong thing and she said they're still the same high quality hot dogs but they look and taste completely different so she lied straight to my face. Also it took them almost 25 minutes to make ONE hot dog that wasn't even worth the wait. They also put the hot dog in a small paper bag so it was a complete mess when I opened it. 0/10. If you're gonna charge almost 10 dollars for one hot dog. At least don't change the recipe and lie about it and do false advertising. DO NOT COME HERE. Go to the one in Boulder where they don't false advertise UPDATE!!!!! I was still at there while typing my review, after that I went in to get a refund. The worker there didn't know how to use her own register so she had to give me cash and then right after I told her she shouldn't false advertise she ran to the kitchen to tell her husband. Me and my girlfriend were pulling out of the place and the woman runs at my car telling me to wait and I asked her why and she ignored me so I start driving away and then a few seconds later her and her husband who was the chef run at my car with a stack of paper and start yelling at my girlfriend shoving them in the car window and then the woman tells him no it was me who returned it so he runs to my window yelling at me saying I'm lying and that he wants me to look at his order shipment receipts and to not "accuse them of that bs" so I told him to get away from my car and that I wouldn't be coming back. He also did this infront of maybe 30 people outside of their establishment. Super unprofessional and rude and disgusting experience. Hopefully this place isn't there for very long. I loved the Dairy Bar! I am a sucker for an old-fashioned dairy bar, and spotted it when I drove through Lyons to get to Estes Park, and knew I had to eat there on the way back. I stopped by on a Friday around 5p and they were busy. I had planned to get a full meal there, but as I approached the window, a woman popped out (maybe the owner?) and said that she was really backed up on food orders and that it would be 30 minutes. I sadly couldn't wait that long, so I just ordered ice cream. The young staffer was a bit confused when I asked about the sizes at first, but she showed me the cup sizes and I ordered a double coconut chocolate chip. It came right out and it was delicious. I am sad I didn't get a full meal there, and will definitely stop by next time I'm in Colorado. read more

Stopped for a quick lunch with our daughter before heading back to OKC. We had some really good bacon burgers, fries, shakes, and sweet sweet tea. The burgers were good size with really wonderful thick cut bacon. The bacon was not overcooked and substantial enough to add great flavor. The fries tasted like good old fashion fresh cut. The prices were good, especially for the major tourist area of the strip in Lyons. Only draw back was only a couple of outdoor tables so dont plan to go inside and cool off! read more

The Dairy Bar is becoming my go-to stop after long bike rides or hikes in the area. I used to always hit Oskar Blue but it has become so busy sometimes that my hunger cant wait that long! My favorite burger is the Colorado Burger since it has poblano peppers, chipotle spread, and pepper jack. Very tasty! It pairs nicely with an order of fries and cookies n creme shake after a long hot bike race! There really isn't much in terms of seating. Just a few picnic tables outside. The first time I went service was great - friendly and food came out pretty quick. The second time I went it was a little busier (at least 7ish people in line) most of that being a large family. They ordered before me and I am guessing they got a little mixed up on things with their order and my simple order...someone likely stole my shake. They said they were pretty sure they made it, but since I was around the corner from the pickup window sitting down I didn't see my order came out so it would have been easy for someone to swipe it. I must share what I got (I apologize I did not get a photo of each- I was digging in) (selfish much? SORRY) To start, the Bacon Cheeseburger was delicious with all the Fix in's I fancy such as ketchup onion mustard lettuce everything they can put - it's in there. The shoe string fries are so yummy, fried fresh and served at a great portion. The salted caramel Oreo shake was delicious but the Pink Cadillac might have changed my life! Fresh strawberry's and Oreo.. my favorites. We also tried the Cookie Jar and my they did a great job at getting the perfect amount of cookie dough in that shake. All fresh dairy products.
