We got seated in a nice quiet area around 7pm on a Sat; I just wanted to try the world famous Green Chile and Rocky Mountain Oysters which did not disappoint!! Ask for extra sour cream if the green chile is spicy but I thought it was amazing as it is! Rocky Mountain Oysters were deliciously creamy and crispy. Loved that Mavericks has rotating local draft beers so definitely ask for what they have on tap. Athena was really attentive and gave us great suggestions for us to explore Rocky Mountain National Park, Granby and other sight seeing highlights. We topped off the night with her favorite dessert recomemdation; bourbon pecan pie with ice cream!! Absolutely delicious!! Burgers were actually decent, but my party of 5 got all of their burgers at different times. One burger took an additional 20 minutes than everyone else's. From sit down to orders being brought out was over an hour. And in that time our order of chicken wings came out but they were ice cold. Imagine waiting an hour for food to be served cold. I just don't quite know where to start with how bad our experience was at this place. Quick backstory: last year when we were in Granby, I called to see if they allow dogs on their patio. They said yes, so we drove over. When we arrived, they said they weren't serving on the patio because they were shortstaffed. "Why didn't you tell me that when I called to ask about the patio?" So this year we tried again. Obviously, they are flagged by short staffing as our many mountain towns, and I am sympathetic. But if you can't manage the business, you have, you need to close part of the dining room. Being immediately seated is no favor when you can't even manage to get water or a drink. I don't know which was worse - the service or the food quality. We had to get up and find someone for help with so many things... The ambience is right out of a 70/80's wood panneled steakhouse. The Buffalo head on the wall was a nice touch but stared at us the entire dinner. The service was solid. And always a plus when you do not get food poisoning while out. Burger was good the buffalo was sad when we left. read more

Me and my family had a reservation and we had asked if we could have our own private room. We then proceeded to call after to double check that it was ok, they said it was fine. When we got to the restaurant the manager said she had no idea about the reservation and gave us attitude. We then saw that our reservation was on the calendar and the manager gave us more attitude. Drove into Granby and stopped for lunch. She remembered this place from her prior visits and suggested it. That was good enough for me. There is parking and patio seating which was nice. We opted to sit inside the quaint dining area. Lots of cool decor and there was a game room with some gaming machines that weren't hooked up - due to covid maybe? She ordered the Italian beef sandwich which came with an au jus sauce. It's a shaved steak sandwich served with pickled giardiniera vegetables and sautéed green peppers on a hoagie roll. She also ordered Maverick's award winning pork green chili in a cup size. I ordered the tuna salad sub. We both added garlic herb chips to our orders. Ate half my hoagie roll so I could eat all of my garlic herb chips. I love potatoes in any form. The chips were a little overcooked for me because you couldn't taste the seasonings for the burnt flavor. But I ate it all anyways as I can't bear wasting potatoes. She loved her sandwich and definitely the green chili. I tried some and it was pretty tasty. The server was friendly and the place wasn't very busy which was nice for us. There was a large screen tv which was showing a hockey game and would make this an ideal place to watch any sports at. It's on the main road of Granby so not hard to find. The menu isn't extensive so if you're not a fan of sandwiches, which I am not, it's not a great place to eat at. They also have salad, pizza and appetizers. Visiting from out of town we looked up places to eat in Grandby and this place had great reviews although upon arriving we were greeted by a child who sat us at our table. She also brought waters to our table. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very dry and all the food options are very bland. Well, not sure what to say other than it's a typical mountain community restaurant. Telly's to watch your sport, limited menu offerings, so-so service (must be the lack of air in high altitude?) This was not a great experience. Waiting 15 minutes for a party of 8 is totally understandable, but then it was a 30-45 minute (I lost track of the time, I was hungry!) wait for our food! I normally wouldn't mind that they automatically add 20% gratuity for parties over 6 but in this case I don't think the service matched. Seems like the burgers are the way to go, my husband really enjoyed his and it seems like a specialty. Unfortunately I was tempted by the chicken fried steak and it just did not satisfy. Very bland. I just called the restaurant back after picking up an online and my partner picked it up and when he got back questioned how much we were charged. He told me the burger and fries were 18.39 - he was charged extra for the fries and the bacon. The menu online - see photos below, advertise that the bacon cheeseburger is $15 and $1 to sub fries. Note we paid cash. We were not given or offered a receipt. I spoke to Tamra and she interrupted me everytime I started to speak. She would not listen to my complaint. Tamra was very defensive in her tone and started to tell me the price of the burgers (build your own burger). I told her the online menu says a bacon cheeseburger is $15. She argued she had told me the price when I called - she did not, and I corrected her. I would have corrected this then. She argued she handed Joel a menu and everyone else when they walk in that has the correct prices. She started to accuse me of yelling at her - bunch of drama, that sounded like she was being attacked. I was not yelling at her or raising my voice. I told her I was being assertive to correct the price and she said no you are being aggressive. It should be noted that it is a typical sexist response to accuse a woman of yelling or being emotional when she asserts herself. She hung up on me three times. I had to call back to try to ask for a refund but she was too defensive. It was at closing time that I called. Perhaps she had a long day and was fed up. But she left me feeling very upset and taken back at her rudeness, lack of professionalism, and the lack of basic customer service skills. When my partner picked up the carry-out Tamra came out with multiple to go orders. She turned to him and said "Which one are you?" He replied "Bacon Cheeseburger". She responded "how am I supposed to know which it is?" He saw she needed a name. [perhaps greet the person and then ask for the name on the order]. The wait staff we experienced in the past were wonderful. The burgers were great. The green chile was pretty good - a lil' salty. Guac was a lil' salty with a unique test. It is very expensive but we had enjoyed ourselves there. We are here every Summer and eat out often. Maverick's was our place to go this year up to this point. Because Tamra's need to be right was more important than giving us good service we will not return. And we will no longer recommend Mavericks and discourage people from going there due to the poor service. Not sure who will enjoy that extra $2.39 but is the last of the profit you will get from us. read more

Went here for lunch this week. Reviews were good, and it was on our way back from Grand Lake. Right when we walked in, I knew this was going to be a weird vibe. Construction workers at the bar for midday drinks (usually a good sign btw) So this is your sign to just keep it right down the middle - burgers. They were just ok, over cooked, and roll wasn't great either. Service was oddly slow for a light lunch crowd. You do get all the town gossip you can handle as the locals come in and out. Arrived as they were opening. They have outdoor seating. The parking lot is big. It's in a busy Main Street with little stores all around. Upon walking waiting for a table one of the main waitresses was a bit rude. Very short in conversation and seemed agitated. Once we got seated our waitress for our table was very friendly knew a lot about the food in the menu. The food didn't take long it was delicious and the main thing that we loved about it was that it was a large quantity on your plate! They do have video games for the kiddos. The restaurant was clean. My wife and I both said to each other, well before we were done with our meal, that 20% for the tip was not in the cards for her tonight... The food was okay but nothing spectactular. After a long day of skiing in the sunshine we were ready to collapse. Maverick's was a comfortable place to do just that. Our server was super kind, helpful and to the point. We enjoyed the Cobb salad and the guacamole. 1. The Cobb salad was good! The roasted red bell peppers added a different touch that I really enjoyed. I thought it could have used some more blue cheese. We loved the large size of the salad, as we split it. The toppings were half the salad - perfect! The chicken was a bit dry. The avocado was ripe and fresh. 2. The guac. Unfortunately, This is why we don't normally order guac from restaurants unless it's made fresh. It was obviously made with a seasoning packet that had too much salt in it. Then again, the chips weren't very salty at all - so I guess the overly salty guac and the bland chips worked out well together. Kind of... Also, my husband bit into the cap of the avocado peel while enjoying a bite of guac. Added fiber! read more
