    Bacon wrapped meatloaf
    Bonnie C.

I discovered the Bistro 28 this winter when I saw a flyer in the Grand Park Rec Center advertising Full Moon Bonfire Nights. The bonfire nights are only once a month. I've have been twice this winter to cross country ski now since I discovered the Bistro 28. The best part is that you can cross country ski or snowshoe free on the Pole Creek golf course anytime. After you burn those calories you can end your ski at the Bistro 28. The course is groomed and lit on these special evenings once a month. You cross country ski or snowshoe to a bonfire. They even offer hot chocolate with schnapps to warm you up. After you visit the bonfire you cross country or snowshoe to the Bistro 28 restaurant. They have live music on these special advertised evenings too and dinner specials. I love the cozy bar where the friendly bartender served me hot chocolate with Baileys after cross country skiing in -10 degree weather. Perfect excuse to warm up with a hot spiked cocoa. Gary Key was playing and singing away that evening and it was a wonderful way to spend an evening in Grand County. The second night I went we had dinner reservations with friends and another country guy was playing Johnny Cash and good old tunes on his guitar. I ordered the bacon wrapped meatloaf and it was good- it felt liked a home cooked meal my Mom would have made on a cold evening. A guy at the bonfire told my husband the Prime Rib is really good and that's what he comes for on Saturday nights. It was a huge piece of beef taking up almost the entire plate- he ate every bite and said it was really good. I am not a prime rib girl but I will take his word for it. I hear the burger nights on Thursdays are good and I want to come back. The Bistro 28 is an awesome place to go to do a cross country ski or snowshoe and then enjoy a burger on Thursday night, Fish Friday or Prime Rib Saturday. In the winter they are only open Thursday-Saturday. The menu is limited. The next Full Moon cross country ski with bonfire is Saturday, February 14th. They have one in March too. I think it is on March 14th. I'm not a golfer but I want to come back for burger night sometime in the summer and hit some balls or just drink a few beers and drive the cart to Bistro 28!

My favorite prime rib EVER. Chef Amo and Brad know what's up.

Saturday night prime rib is the best prime rib I've ever had and homemade desserts always hit the spot.

This place is SPECIAL! A little haven during your skication. Open for lunch, apres, and dinner…read moreand always a win. Fantastic service (Josh is the greatest), fantastic food, and fantastic drinks, you're going to struggle to have a bad time here. BONUS: They have a walk up window outside for drinks and food during the day! Everything on the menu is fantastic and little vacation within itself. It gets crazy busy, but they move the menu quickly and it won't be long before you are sitting down. For the win: Grab a Colorado Bulldog or Craft Beer to start. Hot Choccy for the kids. First bites are the Elk Chili or the Buffalo Wings, the biggest and meatiest wings you will ever see. For dinner, try the Short Rib Ragout or the Prime Dip. For dessert, the Crème Broulee is a can't miss'

Woo, okay this is going to be a long one…read more... Bluebird bistro was a rollercoaster ride, starting with a frustrating welcome. We called ahead to see if they could accommodate our group of (14). The "helpful" person on the phone offered two options: 1. We could be seated separately at different tables right away OR 2. Wait about an hour for one large table. We decided to go with option 1. Arrived at the restaurant just 5 mins later (we were literally already down the road), only for that exact person to tell us when arriving a completely different story. She claimed that we didn't call her back to let her know we were on our way... ? .... Therefore she had no wait time for us and didn't know how long it'll be.. uh? Ok? We were all confused, and frustrated. As we talked amongst ourselves in the waiting area, we decided we were going to take our business elsewhere..... well what do you know suddenly a table was ready for us. At this point, it was getting late, chilly and hangry. We decided to stay and give it a try. And honestly I'm happy we did because we were blessed with a waitress named Kendra, who was phenomenal! Kendra transformed our experience, her service was top-notch. When a few people in our group were not happy with their drinks/orders, she quickly took the items off the check and brought out replacements. I had ordered the elote nachos, and they arrived without queso, instead of just bringing a side of cheese, Kendra took the entire plate back and returned with a fresh, hot order made correctly. Let's talk FOOD: Honestly it was mostly a hit. My margarita pizza was delicious. the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, and the balsamic drizzle was a perfect touch. The others in our group were happy with their pizzas, wings, burgers, and steaks. Even the kids seemed pretty happy with their basic chicken fingers and fries( lol ) .... I was told the only miss were the fish tacos, which were on the dry side, and my elote nachos. While the nachos were good, they didn't have much of the classic "elote" I was hoping for like the crumbles of cheese, sauce etc... Overall, it was a decent spot, and thanks to Kendra, our meal/experience was really SAVED. I took off stars because again while the food was generally good, the confusing and unwelcoming check-in process was a major let down.

The selection doesn't disappoint here. Great choices of sandwiches and soups and they change daily…read moreon the soups. Quick somewhat friendly service gets you warmed up and full in no time. What kept me from giving it five stars: This place is small. If you come with more than a few people good luck finding anywhere to sit. The soup was lukewarm. It was 22 degree and snowing on the side of a mountain, we need HOT soup! My advice to get to five stars: bump up the heat on those soups and serve some cornbread with the soup. The crackers were fine but we didn't even think about eating the slider buns you offered.

I've found that at least one of these will be g/f and/or vegetarian. Every soup I've tasted has been so satisfying. They also offer sandwiches and THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE BREAD! One morning we stopped in for breakfast. They made me DELICIOUS g/f French toast rolled in crunchy oats. I was full halfway through, but it was so tastyI couldn't stop eating until my plate wad clean. The vibe of this place is laid-back and very welcoming. The high ceiling and general decor is casual and comfy. There is also outdoor seating available. I can't leave this place a review without commenting on how cool and friendly everyone who works there has been. They have a way of making you feel like you are an old friend who just happened to stop by.
